Keeps thinking he's seeing SQQ in the corner of his eyes, or wandering between the trees, amongst a group of disciples. Thinks he hears him calling for him, but its just the wind or another disciple.

Gets Xiu Ya reforged but patently fucking refuses to make a sword mound. Because his disciple Is Not Dead :))) There was No Body. He's Not Dead. And If You keep Insisting That He Is, He's Gonna Skewer You :). He's holding onto Xiu Ya so he can return his most favored disciple's sword when he returns. It's on his hip right next to Zheng Yang where it's supposed to be.

Also this motherfucker?? does not sleep btw. He has the image of SQQ, wide eyed and hysterical and standing at the mouth of the abyss burned into his fucking eyelids. Can't use the dreamscape to escape it either because he keeps trying to save him and either he does and it's an incredibly cruel trick to wake up to, or he doesn't and he gets his heart broken in several different pieces again.

There is no convincing this man that Shen Qingqiu is dead. Absolutely nothing at all. He is buried so deep in denial that moles would be jealous of how deep he is. He keeps making tea for two in the bamboo house only to remember that it's just him. SQQ's fans are hiding everywhere, little reminders of his presence. He goes to wake up SQQ on the mornings he sleeps in-- only to find the room empty.

i'm trying to strike a balance between complaining and uh... not complaining but it's so hard😭 civil procedure has come back to bite me in the ass. it was my lowest grade in law school and one of the densest/most abstract subjects i've encountered, so i am absolutely terrified and shaking in my boots. i'm staying positive, however, and will not let it crush my spirit !!!

im going Feral about how charles' mutation is always treated differently from everyone elses. charles (rightly) gets a lot of flack for only taking in the pretty mutants, but i think thats bcus he knows how isolating it is to have a power that is considered inherently a violation of consent. unless charles is 100% 24/7 a paragon of self control, hes GOING to hear your thoughts. asking him to stay out of your head is like asking him not to look at you, its just one of his senses like any other. and i think also thats why he snowballs so easily into huge violating acts like memory wipes and segmentation of identity - if everyone reviles him anyway for his natural, unconscious sensing of surface thoughts, feelings, vibes, traumas, etc etc, then why not do the huge messed up stuff they will also hate him for? he has to keep everything he knows about everyone a secret anyway, so as not to damage their sensibilities, whats one more horrendous secret? one more violation? and erik, of all people, who tells mystique not to cover up, who tells beast to be blue, tells charles "get out of my head".

As today, when a medic who started his career in the ranks of the Hospitallers, 21-year-old Oleksandr Kucheriavenko, call sign "Kuzma", died while performing a mission.

Died saving others. According to the battalion's press service, Kucheryavenko had recently mobilized to the Defense Forces.

"A man with an incredibly keen sense of justice. A professional who has worked at all levels of pre-hospital care. An idealist who was always where he had to be. A hospitalist to whom more than one Ukrainian soldier owes his life. A man his mother and bride were proud of and loved. A comrade-in-arms whom we miss.

He lived, loved, and fought. He died saving the lives of others. We will never be able to comprehend this incredible loss for Ukraine, the Battalion, his fellow L20 crewmates, and family," - this is how Oleksandr's brothers and sisters-in-arms, who together evacuated wounded soldiers in 2023 and 2024 as part of the L20 Hospitaller crew, remember him. "Young, hot-tempered, he was one of those who found his calling early on. And he followed it to the end, despite fatigue, pain, and loss," emphasized Yana Zinkevych.

Oleksandr Kucheryavenko died on May 14, 2024, while providing aid to the wounded.

ok so. he seems to be well off, seeing as he has no problem showering the FLPC with gifts (including a pricey Collection Of Curiosities), taking them on fancy dates and renting out an expensive (I think) establishment for a wedding. however, he can't afford sponsoring an entire archeological expedition, or buying a Cinder, all by himself. which I think rules out the idea of him running off some kind of fund (the guy has no chill. if he had excess money, he would probably dump it all into his project for The Cause), so he probably does work for a living.

moving on. he spends a lot of time "scheming and politicking" and sending letters, so a certain amount of social clout is implied. is this guy a politician/politician-adjacent? going to say no just because if he was, I feel like it would come up more explicitly. also, if you're a politician, I imagine you're going to be more careful about giving incendiary speeches at revolutionary meetups and admitting to stealing stuff from the Masters to a beautiful stranger.

(the stealing stuff from the Masters - pretty sure it was specifically papers, but I don't remember - is a surprise tool that. well. it might help us later. it might not)

so we're looking at someone with a decent (but limited) income and enough social influence that he can engage in Politics, whatever that means. seeing as if he had A Specific Profession we probably would have heard of it, I'm going to say the thing that makes the most sense to me is him owning/co-owning some kind of successful business. which, I imagine any kind of operation that involved shipping/storage could be easily used as a cover for Revolutionary Schemes, and for all we know the other owners/staff are probably in on it. and, since the Masters control trade and taxes, you probably interface with them enough to eventually lay the groundwork for some stealing of papers.

I never post things like this, but Peter David is one of my favorite authors and this is such a tragedy that he shouldn't even have to deal with.

If you've read any Star Trek novels, there's a good chance Peter David wrote it. He also wrote a lot of other comics (like Spiderman 2099 and, a personal favorite, Fallen Angel) and for various TV shows.
