mmos by nature are basically pressure cookers where if you don't reinvent the wheel at least a little bit with every new major dlc there's a good chance you'll stumble, break your leg, and die forever. and don't get me STARTED on the server costs and constant balance patches and moderation necessary to keep track of it all. don't get me wrong, i'm a lifelong adorer of the genre, i know more about mmo-specific game design than any one person ever should, i respect all Actual Devs a ton, but you could not pay me enough to keep track of it all and work on it professionally
