NIGHTMARES IS INCREASING...

Samuel is dealing with the horrors just fine! hes fine. just needs a lil laudanum to take the edge off. Just a little, tiny, several bottles of laudanum,

wheezes and collapses HI HELLO I HAVE FINALLY FINISHED..... THIS!!!!.... I don't know what possessed me to make this out of pixels but im v pleased with how it came out!!

At some point during Light Fingers I finally grabbed some laudanum to help with nightmares before some zee trip or other, and discovered that once you're Important, taking laudanum gives you "A Less Than Laudable Laudanum Habit" and that the initial, normal result is locked once your habit gets over level three. Naturally, I HAD TO KNOW.... WHAT HAPPENED AT OTHER LEVELS.....

I'd also decided to finally do the rest of the Watchful MYN at University, which I'd already heard about from several friends as a place where you are constantly going insane from the mundane stress of just, like, uncooperative witnesses while trying to solve a murder. The timing ended up perfect -- Samuel just coming back from the horrors of the Orphanage in Light Fingers and Trying To Be Normal And Hold Down A Normal Job For A Bit, and maybe just a lil laudanum to keep it together for class, and when withdrawal is ratcheting up everything, some annoyances like "can't find info for your murder investigation" might just tip you over the edge,

hilariously he hit level 8 on the laudanum habit -- helpfully labelled "a wretched slave to the hellish stuff" and the point where it stops working altogether -- IMMEDIATELY before running into a step of light fingers where you have to get rid of all your nightmares before you can proceed. HAHA OOPS.

ANYWAY HE STILL HAS IT BECAUSE IT TURNS OUT, IT TAKES A REALLY REALLY LONG TIME, TO KICK A LAUDANUM HABIT...... i, uh, dont recommend giving urself a laudanum addiction but narratively im having a great time lmao

i think what the thing with the actual light fingers tie-in in the gate of misers is is that crow melusine has spent years idealizing and fantasizing about the hybrid, but in their imagination it's always the same child it was when they had to send it away. it's their baby that they've thought a hundred thousand times about raising, about caring for, about teaching and playing with. so encountering the young miser calves, it's very very easy to project those fantasies, to fill in the gaps with new observations of How It Might Have Been

but the hybrid isn't a baby anymore. i think in cm's timeline it'll have been 5-7 years, i'm not sure yet (if this is what gets me to let them crack the 40 mark... they were 35-ish in their light fingers, i'm thinking? it might be time to unfreeze them and set them at 42 right now), but all the tie-ins so far seem to me to depict that the hybrid has reached miser maturity by now, although this will be the first one i'm allowing to be canon for cm.

regardless, finally meeting the hybrid again and it's all grown up... it's gonna be rough for cm. a final end to those fantasies - that they always knew were impossible, and yet, the heart wants... but now they have to live with the fact that their child is a real person and standing in front of them, and they don't really know it at all. and it's nothing like what they dreamed. and the time lost really is, finally, truly, completely, lost forever. and that's not even getting into introducing it to its LITTLE SIBLING...

Ive already made my (extremely obvious) choice but I haven't picked it in-game yet as im currently gathering resources for it (though I'm VERY confident about my choice. there's NO WAY I'm choosing the other given option). but im so so curious about your choices

Collection of Hybrid doodles as I tried figuring out how I wanna draw it. I love the bugbaby. I would die for the bugbaby.

Since the Hybrid canonically has the player's eyes, I decided to further some resemblance with Clarabelle to let it have some wavy brown hair from the portraits that refer to her.

One particular thing I find very funny to think about, is; what is the Hybrid thinking when the wedding is happening. Like it's a moon miser, it KNOWS what Moon Milk is suppose to be for; hunting prey. I know it's a smart cookie, but you can't tell me it wouldn't be funny for It to be looking back and forth going "??? Is this guy trying to eat my dad? IS THIS WEIRD GUY MY DAD'S LUNCH?? WHAT IS HAPPENING." (there's honestly justified reasons Hybrid would think Sawyer would eat Edward-)

Also you think Edward was monologuing out loud while collecting the Hybrid's venom. And it was just staring like "bro are you about to eat my dad."

I've seen a lot of new people coming in and engaging with light fingers especially recently, which is cool! don't get me wrong

but uh. im really hoping fbg listens to my feedback email about putting content warnings into the game cuz some of that content is not always something you want to go into blind. imo.

there are themes of medical rape, forced pregnancy, and heavy pregnancy body horror in that story. which can be a lot for some people
