If we put all the Bag a Legend PCs in a room together it would simply turn into a crowd of them chanting "do a flip" around somebody standing on a table, and end when someone winds up on the slow boat. I know this implicitly

no one talks about how straight up painful it is to be the bigger person when deep in your soul you just want to be a huge bitch about it

this oc was supposed to be a joke but it kinda got out of hand.
Mr Baits is the Master of the Bazaar in charge of Unterzee fishing, fishing supplies, and boats. It functions somewhere between a game warden and a mafia boss. It is elderly but more spry than it looks, and it can often be found performing spot checks on fishing boats to make sure that all fish are of proper size and all supplies were purchased legally (from Baits!). Most Londoners struggle to to take it seriously for obvious reasons, but if you had to choose a Master to hang out with, Baits is certainly one of the more pleasant ones. It is cordial but not very talkative unless you would like to hear about fish.

hi i was summonded
anyway yea you're absolutely right, details on mens mourning clothes are a lot less talked about then women's, and was nowhere near as elaborate as the regulations for worn. Men generally... didn't have the same clothing restrictions in general. Mourning clothing was a very gendered practice in the time period.
thats not to say they didnt have mourning periods or follow regulations, but for one thing the mourning period for men was expected to be less socially and another... well, most men's clothing was already black in the time period. Wearing a dark suit in the time period was already the typical day to day fashion.
From the Frick Museum In Pittburgh's Page on the matter:
By contrast, men had it much easier. Widowers mourned for up to six months and often even less. They were encouraged to remarry more than widows. As the standard black suit was already de rigueur, men could meet the standards of mourning dress with very little change to their everyday wardrobe. Crape hatbands or armbands, particularly for men in the service, were also common.
so while an upper-class man might still wear a full black suit, black gloves, a black cravat, and a hat with a mourning band, it wouldn’t stand out nearly as much as a woman in full mourning dress. So if you're looking to draw a man in mourning, any black suit would probably work fine.
if you want to add more to it, you could add a black mourning armband, or a black band around a hat.

Hey, does anyone have any information and photos of victorian clothing? I'm trying to figure out what a man in mourning would wear.

Wait actually im really enjoying reading up on the drama of the Railway Act of 1844 Wikipedia page
The reaction of many railway companies was grudging acceptance of the letter, if not the spirit of the legislation, and they provided the minimum one train per day with facilities for third class passengers at an unpopular time such as early morning or late at night. ......Some companies continued to run inferior third or fourth class trains in addition to the minimum standard parliamentary train. The Midland Railway broke ranks by providing three compartments, with glazed windows and an oil lamp in the roof, causing resentment among competitors. Finally in 1875 the standard of third class was upgraded and second class was abolished – by relabelling the coaches. It caused scandal now difficult to imagine. In the 1800s there was rigid distinction between social classes and the belief was that the railway would bring "the 'lower orders' nearer to equality with their 'betters

sometimes I misremember things about Furnace because I've written so many fics about her over the years. like oh right it was me who had Furnace figure out the PC has lead poisoning because they're always on that d—n Correspondence plaque. which is lead. and there was no comiseration or solidarity about workplace injuries because neither Furnace nor the PC are permanently disabled within the text of Fallen London.
