(chants) new pen day!! new pen day!!

in the last few months, i increased my fountain pen collection to include these four… two madoromi pilot kakunos, pilot metropolitan, and a pilot custom 74 (first entry into gold nibs!!). thoughts below:

i LOVE my pilot metropolitan, it’s a huge jump from the kakuno (even though they’re both steel nibs). the pilot custom 74 is still growing on me — although the gold nib is springy, it doesn’t run as wet as the metropolitan. unsure if it’s an ink issue but i spoke with the sales clerk at yoseka who said her custom 74 writes the same way so i might just be unaccustomed to pilot fine gold nibs. i got way more inks and ink samples from goulet so i’m excited to continue inking my pens with fun colors and introduce more color into my world 🎨🖋️

hi s! not sure if you've answered this before but what made you decide to attend law school in dc/the one you ended up choosing? i'm an incoming 1L and struggling to figure out what law school to attend and would appreciate any thoughts you have <3

CONGRATS ANON!! i'm sure you have amazing options to choose from :)) and hopefully it's not too late to answer this D: i didn't go to law school in DC (i was just there for an in-person externship with a government agency) but i chose my law school based on a few factors (roughly in the following order): scholarship/costs (probs the biggest factor), post-grad opportunities, strength of specific programs (i was really interested in pursuing international corporate law at the time..), school ranking and strength of faculty, location of school/campus vibes..... feel free to ask off-anon if you want to discuss any specific programs/schools!

edit: also feel free to reach out once you start school if you have any q's or worries, etc!!!

when the tumblr mutuals make it out of the tumblr dms 🫶 after over a year of being tumblr mutuals, i finally met the lovely @teddybearsticker !! we went to the south street seaport museum, tried out old printing machines, stationery window-shopped, and went on a stationery date at a flower shop/café. i had such a great time and i really loved bonding over hobonichi notebooks and fountain pens with like-minded stationery freaks !! if you love beautiful handwriting, aesthetic spreads, and original content, you must follow sarah both on instagram and tumblr at @teddybearsticker 🧸💕!!!

this was my first time doing daily drawings in my weekly hobo and i had a blast!! i also used a rainbow colored pencil that has 6 colors in one pencil :)) i catsat over the holidays and he was my muse 💋 the problem is my fountain pen bled onto the next month so i'm doing daily crazy headlines for jan (no pics, just text)...

new year means new journal :))) i finished my old journal right on 12/31 so i decided to get a new one… except it’s actually an old one !! i am restarting an old moleskine i abandoned in the middle of law school since i didn’t want it to go to waste. although it does skip a chunk of time (the lime green tab marks 2025), i added a very cute bodega cat sticker on it so it feels brand new 😎

wanted to share the first two weeks of my 2025 hobonichi weeks !! there’s not much rhyme or rhythm but it’s been incredibly helpful tracking/planning all my social events and invites 😙 it also got a little wet from the rain a few days ago, which ruined the top of the pages but oh well…..

this is the first time using a hobonichi weeks and i'm really enjoying it!! many a thoughts below......

i bought my 2025 hobonichi weeks planner a few weeks before it started so i decided to experiment with layouts and styles in the back for the last few weeks of 2024. you can really see the evolution from the week of Oct 28 to the week of Nov 18, e.g., how i went from one highlighter color (purple) to a whole system that i'll be carrying into 2025 :))) the colors i chose for the week of Nov 11 were so ugly that no one will be seeing that lolol. one issue is that i still don't know what to do with the empty page on the right side. i did a reflection on nyc one week but i'm not always in a reflective mode (i also do reflections on my life in my vent journal). i tried the alastair method but it usually takes me multiple weeks to complete a task. it was still helpful to see what i eventually need to do so i think the right side will be a very fluid system that changes based on my needs week-to-week. for now, i've been keeping an ongoing "interest log" and writing down quotes and poems that speak to me that week. i might implement a mini habit tracker too since i'm not great at maintaining my daily habits

my "aesthetic" goal for 2025 is for my planner to look as used and loved as possible! i'm not much of an artist nor a memory keeper (i have my 5-year planner for memory keeping) and i don't like keeping receipts but i made a better effort at preserving cute stickers and things from cafés and bookstores and other places (but only if i think they look good hahah). i also want my stickers and washi tape to look cohesive but it's a little hard for me because i operate on vibes (both artistically and generally) and never took any art classes or anything so idk if anything will look as "aesthetically pleasing" as i want it to. the only thing that saves me is my neat handwriting. but! my ultimate goal is to not be so hard on myself about how my planner looks since it's meant to be a functional tool. i do think i'm doing a good job on keeping it true to myself and my life 😎

i'm SO relieved. it's fun to go back and look back at my posts from this summer. although i wish i had posted more, i was so nervous about not passing that i didn't want to take too much time out of studying to take pictures and post them :((

really fun day today !! i took an inkmaking workshop at the smithsonian ✒️🫐🌼 we were instructed to forage for any plants or berries in our neighborhood, which i did yesterday ! i extracted ink from chives and pokeberries. we also had a lot of goldenrod ink left over so i was able to bring it home as a pen. our instructor told us that civil war soldiers used pokeberry juice as ink to write love letters due to its vibrant magenta color 💓 it also stains like hell whoops
