Octocon is a new app for systems. It's traumacentric and made by traumagenic systems. It also has a discord bot that is a lot easier to use than pk in my opinion. You can also sync your app and the bot so you can edit alters in the app. The app is on android already and coming to IOS soon. Hope this helps some people :)
(If you're in a server, I recommend adding this bot as more people are starting to use it instead of pk and tupperbox)
Apologies for any confusion, turns out they have a neutral stance on non traumagenic systems.

So , based on the reaction to my last similar set of things , I decided to make proper templates! I will apologize if theres screenreader issues // 'closed symbols' used! You can lmk regardless so I can avoid them / improve these ^^
I ended up making three but only one has a proper description since I didn't have good ideas for the others , feel free to mix and match however! Anyone may use but I ask endos / pro-endos not to interact with me directly , along side we ask you are aware we are very much anti-endo.

We feel strange because everyone is super mega happy for octocon, people are moving there and saying it's a super good alternative for SP and all that
But we don't like it :/
We'll continue in SP because we don't like Octocon, there a features that I would want to be added but it's already specified it won't, it lacks a lot of functions (I know they're gonna update it but still) and the interface kinda feel like it's too... Strange in a way that don't like
Cool for other systems, not cool for us... Gonna stick with Simply Plural maybe forever
Update us if octocon updates and becomes better, but for now SP still the winning app lmao

Downloaded octocon and have few things to say
Very barebones app right now. Can't do a tag within a tag, which is very inconvenient when needing to organise thoroughly
EG: We like to have folder for "Call To Front" in which are sub-categories of each role for the headmate to choose from. Also folder for "Age" divided into multiple different age groups and mental vs appearance age
Haven't gotten used to visuals yet so may be based on not being used to it, but the design feels very hard to read and inaccessible for us. The accessibility options are very limited right now. It is visually pleasing and has a few different options for the layout but would appreciate more accessibility options especially as low mobility and poor fine motor skills person. Also no way to search for alter right now which is inconvenient especially as have poor memory and use keywords to find alters through searches
The stealth mode works well based on test
Alter descriptions can be padded out with custom fields. However options for types of custom field are limited to text, number and Y/N rn
Think if want to get app, should wait until few updates to improve but for now seems like very good improvement as it is anti endo. Has lots of potential!

Does anyone have any advice for this issue I have with Octocon?
Despite disliking its general set up I decided to give it a shot anyway because I don’t wanna support and app that supports endos even on my private system server but the proxy doesn’t seem to work like… at all.

Octocon is pretty barebones right now
but
We find it easier to use then Simply Plural is, plus you can turn on permanent tips if you need them (like us)
The only downside for us is the lack of non-alter statuses

ANTI-ENDO APP
SYSTEM APP THAT'S ANTI-ENDO
If you're a system who hates using Simply Plural and Pluralkit bcs they give horrible and fake information and support "endos", YOU'RE IN HUGE LUCK
There's this new app called Octocon, that's basically like Simply Plural but it actually has real websites and doesn't give any fake information, it's very new and still in the works, they also have a bot like Pluralkit but the response times are MUCH faster and only you can see the slash commands!!!
Please please please check it out if you're interested!!!
Feel free to mention our page if u want when u verify!!!
Hope to see you all there!!!

Octocon: A Review and Comparison. (Website link)
I am writing this on the 14th of July 2024, which is just three days after the first public release of the app(on the 11th). So some of the things I bring up here may no longer be reinvent, when it is updated in the future. I've also only just started using it, so there may be stuff I'm unaware of.
I think the 2 biggest advantage of octocon is, first the fact that it functions as jake of all trades, and second the safety features. The app has a companion discord bot, as well as in app journaling. Making it so it has features of simplyplural, pluralkit, and lighthouse all in one. In terms of safety, in addition to options for a pin lock, there are also a quick exit option and a stealth mod option. With quick exit enabled you can double top any unoccupied spot on the app to immediately close the app. The stealth mode being enabled makes it so when the launches it appears as a news app(pictures on the right below), to access the real app just double tap the logo. Also the app having no reference to systemhood or plurality in the name makes it more convert.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I could see the app being directly connected to the discord bot as being very useful for systems that split alters often. I know from our experience we often don't really bother with setting up PK profiles for a lot of our system(and doing with tokens every time is also annoying), so having the app and bot linked is useful. The discord bot commands are also more private than PKs.
The app can be used for front and alter tracking, you can also set an alter as primary front if multiple alters are fronting. Also alters in the app are given an ID number which can be changed to organize them, rather it being alphabetical(one of our pet peeves with SP is the fact you can't make organization non alphabetical, I say a host whose name starts with V) The app also lets you make alter folders, which can be used for subsystems among other things. It also let you add friends so they can see who is fronting, much like simplyplural.
There are also several different color options for the app.
As for the journaling, there's both individual alter journals and a journal
Now moving on the things I like less about the app. As a reminder the app just come out and the app will likely be changed in the future.
There is no in app way to edit the info for the system as a whole, this is done via the bot on discord. On a related note system usernames must be between 5 and 16 characters long, which as you might notice is to short for our system name.
The is no dashboard, and no chatting or polls in app, though chatting could still be done on discord with bot. Also there's no browser version.
All alter info is on one tab I could see this getting very crowded. there's less custom field options(not date options for example) and no markdown support(meaning you can't add images and such to bios and the like). There is also currently not wat to achieve alters.
There is no non folder way to represent subsystems in the app, mean there is also no subsystem specific group journals. (Side note lighthouse is very good for keeping track of subsystems, if your system has multiple I recommend you give it a try)
The app's current front history keeping is rather bare bones.
Closing thoughts
For now we are going to continue predominately using simplyplural and pluralkit. Simplyplural for it's better information keeping, and pluralkit do to its prevalence. However I am very excited to see what octocon's future hold and can absolutely understand why some systems would prefer it over alternatives. I am also always glad to see new system resources being created!

Octocon policy on endogenic systems on their discrd server:
**Our policy on endogenic systems.**
While we cannot restrict those who use our resources, we wish that our stance on endogenic systems is known: Octocon's bot, app, and communities are *not intended to be used by those who identify as "non-traumagenic" systems in any capacity.* In addition, positive discussion of concepts such as purposefully creating alters, appropriated tulpamancy, and "system-hopping" are **banned.**
Debate of these topics (commonly known as "syscourse" or "system discourse") is explicity banned. General discussion of them is okay as long as people are not being targeted, bullied, or overly generalized. Hate speech towards either side of the argument is **not tolerated.**
(I do not have any claim to this information it is copied directly from the discord sever, I am merely sharing it here in hopes it can help some people).
This is just what their policy is for their discord sever apologies for any confusion.

So as of late [when we have time anyhow] we've been working on templates / simple inspo for simplyplural [most could likely work on pluralkit / octocon however I don't know especially with Octocons current set up] , and I'm mostly seeing if anyone would be interested in seeing that from us [along side the rare flag / graphic we already make]

Bro it's a mix of funny and sad that when the developers of octocon stated the app isn't anti-endo not it's receiving hate, backlash or similar things, people started to delete it or leave it and it's quite funny
Not funny because I'm delighted of this happening to the developers of octocon, but because of how hypocrite and double moral this people are yk?
Anyway, people stop being disappointed when the expectations that YOU make with the assumptions that YOU make without the creators confirming it or saying something about it challenge, level imposible (Half anti-endo community just lost LMAO)

understand people want use octocon
but before let me say:
atlas's ethic with this app and bot NOT SAFE
neither is their approach to users or criticisism
have been proven to DELETE KEY INFO from announcements and posts
go back on statements and retract the anti endo stance
have approach criticism (for example mine) as if ppl r unjust. i voiced genuine concern for safety that met with ableism as atlas refuse understand the way communicated (pointed out by my bf in the comments under that post) and called genuine concern "fearmongering" to downplay the fact a TRAUMATISED PERSON scared to use "traumacentric" app and bot
released app with close to 0 accessibility. early development is NOT AN EXCUSE TO FAIL TO ACCOMMODATE
[pt: early development is not an excuse to fail to accommodate]

So, we poked around with that Octocon app/bot and ended up deleting everything because we didn't like how it is set up, but-
We do like the fact the developer isn't actually hateful about endogenic systems, they literally say their resource is for DID/OSDD and that they don't allow hateful discourse/syscourse in the server.
The developer's approach is actually what should be done with making resources for a certain demographic- they have their target audience, really.
Honestly the short time we spent in the Octocon server has us thinking about picking the app/bot back up for our own personal use (we wish SP had journals instead of the chat feature, honestly) and it feels like the developers of Octocon took the best features from both SP and PK and combined them while removing some (the chat feature since the bot in discord handles chat better than having an in app chat)
So it's not bad and the developers are actually not anti-endo and are a true example of being neutral. They do mention that they don't want people talking about created plurality and I honestly think it is so they don't offend their anti-endo CDD users. They're not denying it, just saying "hey, don't talk about that here, this is for this group, not that one" and they don't seem to be going on hunts to remove users who aren't traumagenic/disordered.
So yeah, that's our opinion of the bot/app.
Might try it again (mainly for the journal feature, we have been DYING for a journal feature in an app) because trying to journal in things like discord or writing them down on paper can be a hassle, plus we really need private communication.
So yeah....journal feature got us. Also even though we're pro endo we fall into their target audience since we do have DID. We will still be using PK/SP though.

Looking into that new app Octocon and this post will be my thoughts on it
Firstly this app isn't avalible on apple products and is android only for the moment, an IOS closed beta is planned for the end of the year
Secondly the creators are Anti-endo in nature but do not condone harassment slightly more info at the end
ONTO MY THOUGHTS !
Pros:
You can import alters from Simplyplural or Pluralkit
Discord bot automatically puts pronouns after members name when proxying if pronouns are set
The app and discord bot automatically sync
There's a journal feature both for the system as a whole as individual alters, making it easier to leave other alters messages or write journal notes for yourself, the system wide journal is useful for writing down important events especially if you have amnesia barriers it's useful for writing key things that happened or appointment reminders aswell as being a general way to journal
It has a mode that shows it as a news site when you open it and you double tap the icon to get to the actual app
It has a quick exit feature that let's you double tap anywhere that isnt a button twice and it automatically closes the app perfect for closing it without seeming like you just closed an app
The discord bot auto proxy is global and applies to all servers it's in once set
The discord bot if on the latch auto proxy will automatically proxy as the last proxy used and this is also cross server
Cons:
When I imported from Simplyplural none of the avatars carried over meaning we have to redo all of them but everything else carried over fine
No chat feature meaning if you have trouble speaking in inner you have to talk in discord or another app
Doesn't tell you how to make a member register as fronting (double swipe to <- side)
No tutorial
You need to exit a member profile to save it which can be annoying if the app crashes
Front history is harder to read compaired to Simplyplural imo
Loading avatars, opening journal entries and opening avatar profiles can take a few seconds to open/load and I've had to restart the app a few times to make journal entries load
Overall:
Overall I think it's a good app
The auto sync is nice since I dont have to worry about making sure all our alters are registered to both the proxy bot and app like with Simplyplural and Pluralkit
It has the potential to be great and better than Simplyplural imo
I enjoy the way the app looks and the way you navigate and I prefer it over Simplyplural
For now I will be using Octocon for our alter information as for us it's easier to use and more convenient
-------------------------
Though I would keep in mind the creators are Traumagenic based and made the app for trauma based systems they have stated they do not condone harassing endos but their community is not made for them
