Hygiene tips
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before eating, after using the restroom, after coughing or sneezing, and after touching public surfaces.
Carry a hand sanitizer with you. Make sure the sanitizer contains at least 60% alcohol and rub it over your hands until dry.
When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your elbow to prevent the spread of germs. Dispose of used tissues immediately.
Refrain from touching your eyes, nose, and mouth as much as possible, as these are entry points for germs into your body.
Take showers or baths regularly to keep your body clean and fresh. Use soap and water to thoroughly cleanse your body, paying attention to areas like armpits, feet, and groin.
Brush your teeth at least twice a day for two minutes each time, using fluoride toothpaste. Don't forget to clean your tongue, and replace your toothbrush every three to four months.
Keep your nails short and clean to prevent the buildup of dirt and bacteria. Use a nail brush to scrub under your nails regularly.
Regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces in your home, such as doorknobs, light switches, countertops, and electronics. Also, keep your living space well-ventilated.
Wash your clothes, bed linens, and towels regularly, following the manufacturer's instructions. Use the appropriate water temperature and detergent to ensure proper cleanliness.
Avoid sharing personal items like towels, razors, toothbrushes, or makeup.
Practice good food hygiene by washing fruits and vegetables thoroughly before consumption. Cook food to the appropriate temperature to kill harmful bacteria, and refrigerate leftovers promptly.
Keep your surroundings clean: Regularly clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces such as doorknobs, light switches, phones, keyboards, and remote controls. This helps eliminate germs that may be present on these surfaces.
Maintain clean and healthy feet: Keep your feet clean and dry to prevent fungal infections. Wash your feet regularly, dry them thoroughly (especially between the toes), and wear clean socks and well-fitting shoes.
Ensure that the water you use for drinking, cooking, and personal hygiene is clean and safe. If necessary, use water filters or boil the water before use.
If possible, use a shower filter.
If you are sexually active, use barrier methods (such as condoms) to protect yourself from sexually transmitted infections. Get regular check-ups and screenings as recommended by healthcare professionals.
Take care of your mental well-being by managing stress, getting enough sleep, engaging in regular physical activity, and seeking support when needed. Good mental health is essential for overall well-being.
Sleep with aloe vera on your face to help with scars and acne.
Massage your body with oils and lotions after shower or before bed.
Eat greek yogurt to help fix PH balance, acne and odor in your private area.
Wear cotton based underwear.
Do not treat your body like a trashcan.
To smell good during the day:
Regular bathing helps remove sweat, dirt, and odor-causing bacteria from your body.
Apply antiperspirant or deodorant to clean, dry underarms to control sweat and odor.
You can also use baking soda and lemon to get rid of under arm odor.
Put on freshly laundered clothes each day. Clean clothing helps prevent the buildup of odor-causing bacteria and keeps you smelling fresh.
When choosing clothes, opt for natural fibers like cotton or linen, which allow air to circulate and help wick away moisture from your body. Avoid synthetic materials that can trap sweat and lead to unpleasant odors.
Brush your teeth at least twice a day, floss daily, and use mouthwash to maintain fresh breath. Don't forget to clean your tongue as well.
Apply a pleasant fragrance, such as perfume or cologne, sparingly. Avoid excessive application, as it can be overwhelming to others. Focus on pulse points like the wrists, neck, or behind the ears.
Keep your feet clean and dry to prevent foot odor. Wash your feet daily, dry them thoroughly (especially between the toes), and wear clean socks and well-ventilated shoes.
Regularly brush your tongue, as it can harbor bacteria and contribute to bad breath. Visit your dentist regularly for check-ups and cleanings.
Drink plenty of water throughout the day to flush out toxins from your body. Staying hydrated can help prevent the buildup of odors.
Certain foods, such as garlic, onions, and spicy dishes, can contribute to body odor. Pay attention to your diet and make choices that minimize strong odors if you are concerned about smelling good.
Keep a small travel-sized deodorant, wet wipes, or refreshing body spray with you to freshen up during the day, especially in hot or humid weather.
Ensure your clothes, towels, and bed linens are washed regularly. Use a detergent with a fresh scent to keep them smelling clean.
Spray perfume on your brush or use natural oils that are safe for your hair.
Wipe front to back to avoid infections. Use toilet paper then wipes.
moisturize your skin.
When washing your hair, make sure you are using products that clean your hair without drying it out.
Keep feminine wipes with you.

ear care ♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i feel like we normally don't do much to help our ears , so here are some ear cleaning tips and tricks to have fresh, clean and good smelling ears!!
qtips ♡
never use qtips in your ears , PLEASE. they just push the wax further into your ear. i would recommend wetting a qtip with warm water and swabbing around the outside ear crevices , but never stick them into your ears.
cleaning ♡
when in the bath or shower, use a soft cloth with a small amount of body wash to clean the surface of your ear , along with the back, top and underneath of your ear. heck , even better , clean it twice. rinse off the soap and then dry your ears immediately with a dry towel to stop bacteria from growing.
smelling good ♡
having my ears smelling good is a MUST!! if someone hugs me , it's usually the first place they smell. here are my tips to avoid ear odors!
obviously , you wanna be washing the outside of your ears regularly (preferably with a nice smelling gentle body wash) . if behind your ears is ever sweaty, make sure to wipe it with a towel! i also like to exfoliate behind my ears twice a week, as i notice i get dead skin build up sometimes. a small dab of perfume behind your ears each morning is sure to keep them smelling good the whole day too! if you have piercings, make sure you're cleaning them regularly. ♡ but please remember , if you notice an odor coming from your ears, always go to a doctor , as it could be a sign of infection!
please note ♡
you don't really need to clean the inside of your ears at all! obv you wanna get rid of any excess sitting on the outside of your ear , but earwax catches dirt from reaching your ear drum and other more sensitive parts of the ear, so its best to leave it there to do its job! it will eventually come out naturally anyway.
if you do feel the need to clean , (whether it's causing you discomfort, there's too much wax, or you're struggling to hear) please go to a professional ear cleaner or ear specialist! this is way safer as they know what they're doing.

more transmasc hygiene tips from a trans guy now *checks watch* 983 days on t
general:
if you are for whatever reason unable to brush your teeth, use mouthwash ! it’ll help get rid of some of that bacteria in ur mouth (i was actually told this by my dentist bc i have major problems with this as well)
if you are able to brush your teeth, make sure your brush up on your gums to get rid of bacteria and prevent and treat things like gingivitis
transmasc specific:
if you’re growing or trying to grow facial hair, it’s important to take care of your skin, especially the skin where that hair grows - set up a solid skincare routine including exfoliating your skin around once a week (try not to exfoliate the same day you shave because shaving itself is an extreme form of exfoliation) exfoliating helps get rid of dead skin and prevent ingrown hairs
replace your razor head when you need to and rinse your razor between shaves so you can get a cleaner shave
i myself am really bad about this but don’t dry shave ! use shaving cream and let it sit on your face for a little bit to soften the hair to prevent skin irritation
if you want to grow facial hair it does take time and it has to do with genetics and etc but (and i haven’t tried this yet but it’s coming in the mail) i have heard great things about dr. dht’s growth oil* - dermaroll your face before so the oil can absorb into your skin more and then apply the oil where you want facial hair to grow
*dr dht is a brand created by a trans man and his growth oil is free of dht blockers - dht blockers are found in a lot of other facial hair growth products but dht is necessary for facial hair growth to occur (dht blockers can actually be good for head hair, but facial hair is different)
backing off facial hair now bc not everyone wants it and that’s okay, let’s focus on more transmasc specific general hygiene
you will stink. it’s inevitable- try out different things that work best to get rid of your stink like full body deodorant sprays and different types and brands of regular deodorant and experiment with different colognes and body sprays and perfumes until you find one or a combination that you like
one thing that no one told me about going on t is that i have to do my laundry more often now because my clothes stink more
yknow those car fresheners that work really well? the oil ones you hang from your mirror?
Tumblr media
these?
get one for your room. hang one from your fan and put one in your closet - it’s inconvenient to tip them to get them to work but they work better than any other air freshener
another thing i like to freshen up my room is wilson & son spoon company room sprays (they make perfumes and body oils too that smell really good) they’re room sprays are really potent and they have some really nice scents - me and my sister have tried marshmallow fluff, fruity-o’s, and iced coffee and they all smell great my sisters wears the iced coffee perfume every day and i frequently spray my room with the fruity-o’s room spray
i’m out of ideas so that’s it for this post! remember to try your best to smell good even if you think you smell okay with nothing on, im not saying you have to go out of your way to buy expensive products or do anything really im just sharing some things thatve helped me :)

Hello! Do you have any tips for a scent layering routine and how to always smell clean and fresh? Thank you!
Hi love! Sharing some tips below. Hope these help xx
Scent Layering Tips:
Remember your routine starts in the shower. Use fragrance-free body wash/lotion if you want to ensure they don't mix with any perfume/fragrance mists. Otherwise, test to see whether your favorite scented body wash/lotions complement each other/work together to create your desired scent.
Apply scents from the heaviest to the lightest. Apply your heady perfumes (musky, deeper, spicier, and richer-smelling scents) before your lighter fragrances (brighter floral or citrus scents). Typically, bolder perfume scents have more dynamic and/or deeper base notes (the notes that last on the skin for the longest skin [4-6 hours -once the perfume has "dried down"]. Popular base notes include vanilla, oud, musk, patchouli, sandalwood, cedarwood) and can have common heart notes [actualize around 20-60 minutes after spraying the perfume after the top notes, or initial scent, starts to fade]. Some common heart/middle perfume notes include jasmine, rose, cinnamon, geranium, lavender, black pepper, pine, and lemongrass.
When in doubt, layer two perfumes (and/or scented body products) with the same/overlapping base and/or heart notes. Think a vanilla-scented body lotion with a vanilla-based perfume or scents with vanilla-jasmine notes like Valentino Donna Born in Roma EDP layered with Versace Crystal Noir.
Don't layer two heavy scents together. Think of scents like Tom Ford Black Orchid and Mugler Alien paired together. When combined the smell can be overwhelming and give you a headache. Huda Beauty created a great fragrance scent layering guide (in the hyperlink).
How To Smell Fresh All Day Long:
Shower daily with soap and water under your arms, behind, and on the bikini area (only use water on the inside/your vulva)
Moisturize your skin daily (body hands, face)
Brush your teeth twice a day. Floss at least once a day. Keep a disposable toothbrush or at least some breath mints handy for use throughout the day if needed
Apply an antiperspirant deodorant every morning/before any activity where you think you'll be sweating. Carry around a mini one in your work bag or if you have room for one in your purse if out for several hours at a time on a hot day
Have feminine hygiene wipes and wet wipes on hand to cleanse the downstairs regions as needed
Keep some cleansing wipes/spray to refresh your body/face if you're in a hot/humid climate or are prone to sweating (I like the Pacifica Coconut Milk & Essential Oils Underarm Deodorant Wipes and Evian Facial Spray to freshen up throughout the day)
Change any liners/pads/tampons every 3-4 hours when not asleep
Wear underwear with a cotton gusset daily (lingerie is the exception)
Change your underwear and socks throughout the day
Ensure you're washing your towels and pillowcases at least once a week
Choose breathable fabrics (linen, bamboo, cotton, Tencel, silk, merino wool) in the hot/humid weather or if you're worried about sweating
Keep a rollerball of your go-to perfume to freshen up on your pulse points if needed throughout the day/night

physical self care tips for folks who don’t have the emotional/physical capacity to do so
disclaimer: these are not going to work for everyone nor are they a cure-all. sometimes you need additional help or sometimes these just aren’t going to work for you. this is not me assuming that every single mentally or physically disabled person is able to do all these. at the lowest points in my life i wasn’t even to get out of bed for days on end and once didn’t brush my teeth for several months. but these help some folks, and that’s all i’m going for!
can’t brush/floss your teeth? mouthwash. mouthwash always. plus you can get it in fun flavors :)
- additionally: are physically capable of brushing/flossing but can’t find the emotional capacity to do so? put on a video/show you like in the background. it helps me !
- oh also you can get toothpaste in fun flavors too if that helps
- you only really need to wash your face like once a day with a fairly gentle soap. like even a bar soap or a diluted hand soap works.
- don’t wanna deal with acne and stuff? pimple patches are your best friend (but wash your face first)
- additionally, acne is normal and common. you don’t have to have “perfect skin” and it’s super rare that people do (and if they do, they most likely invest in a bunch of expensive skincare products and routines).
- don’t/can’t shower? deodorant on stinky/sweaty areas. your armpits, your neck and upper back (trust me on this one), your crotch area, all that stuff.
- or you can just use a washcloth. wet it, put some soap on it, and then rub it on stinky areas. make sure there’s more water on it than soap so that you can wipe it off with a dry washcloth after.
- if you don’t wanna take care of your hair and you don’t need/want to keep it long, buzz it. or just cut it short!
- alternately, if you want/need to keep your hair long but can’t take care of it:
- if you have a looser hair type, run through it every now and then with a brush or your fingers. if you’re able, run through it with your fingers at least a few times a day. running it under water for a little and then gently running through it with your fingers/a comb works as well. also, dry shampoo is your best friend if you’ve got oily hair. if you don’t want to brush/wash it often, keep it in easy to maintain styles like regular braids.
- for black/coiled hair types: i’m not black and have 2c/3a wavy/curly hair so i really don’t know much about this so please do not take this as if i have firsthand experience, this is all internet knowledge/from black peers. i always open to better information, please tell me if you have any! from what i’ve heard and learned black/coiled hair doesn’t need to be washed as much. keeping it short helps because it shrinks easily and means you don’t have to wash/clean it often. but if you want to keep it long, it can get dry easily. separating it into sections and then running through it with a detangling brush helps (a good option is the Spornette DeVille Cushion Paddle Boar Bristle 344). protective hairstyles mean you don’t have to wash it that often as well.
- some foods may not be healthy but if they’re easy to prepare and leave you sustained for some time, fucking go for it. as long as you don’t have any dietary/medical restrictions regarding them.
- foods like omelettes, oatmeal, microwavable burritos/ramen/etc, peanut butter on toast, tuna sandwiches, frozen chicken nuggets, bag salads, and mixed nuts are all easy to make and/or good sources of vitamins and protein.
- fatness isn’t a bad thing. you don’t need to work out or eat specifically to “stay in shape.”
- but if you do want to work out: i am not a physical therapist, personal trainer, etc. nor do i have much gym experience. listen to your body and consult legitimate medical sources/medical professionals. i am also not physically disabled. i cannot judge what is right for your body; only you and medical professionals can do that.
- remember to warm up and cool down. wear comfortable clothes that make you feel good. drink plenty of water!!!! and listen to what your body is telling you !!! if you experience pain/nausea, it’s time to stop for a bit and there’s no shame in that.
- simple workouts! focus on one specific thing, like flexibility or strength or something. walking/pacing is an easy one if you’re able to do that. listening to music while doing it helps too. - stretches are awesome. yoga is awesome. simple things that increase flexibility and don’t require a lot of physical activity are awesome. just a simple stretch now and then is rad as fuck.
- as always, laziness is a myth. sometimes your mind or your body just doesn’t want to do something and that’s perfectly fine.
- that’s all i can think of for now i might add more later

👄🌹💎🛀HYGIENE TIPS! 🛀💎🌹👄
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello everyone!
When I was a teenager I struggled a lot with body odor, didn't take care of my personal hygiene much because my mother never taught me these type of things, she always told me it was because of the hormones and never helped me by buying products or teaching me how to take care.
There's nothing to be ashamed of, it's never too late to take care of yourself and everyone has to learn. Some people don't have sisters, present mothers or anyone that teaches them.
Apple Cider Vinegar: if you struggle with body odor, apply some acv with a cotton on the parts you sweat most before you shower. Also you can use acv for your 🐱 BUT DON'T APPLY IT DIRECTLY, pour 1/2 glass of acv into your bath.
Towels: use a different tower for your hands, body and 🐱. After using them, let them air dry and wash them twice a week. I prefer to clean my downpart with water and a towel (only use soap after s*x and when I'm on my period). Make sure to dry it well to avoid infections and fungus.
Oil pulling, tongue scraper and floss: literally changed my life ⭐⭐⭐⭐. Rinse your mouth with coconut oil for 10-15 minutes, it's one of the first things I do when I wake up but you can also do it at night. Tongue scraper everytime I wash my teeth, be gentle! Little pressure is enough. Remember to floss everyday.
Double cleanse: double cleanse your face and body.
Wash your back after conditioning: the rests of conditioner may cause back acne.
Dry exfoliating: exfoliate your skin with a shower glove before you shower.
Try to use unscented soaps or shower gels: products with perfumes tend unbalance your ph. So be careful with the products you choose, I personally recommend the Pure Castille soap as shower gel or the Dove bar soap.
Scents I do not recommend for deodorants: coconut, lemon and rose. I think that the sweat mixed with those scents make the smell worse.
Always carry baby wipes.
Antiperspirant deodorant. I recommend the Vichy antiperspirant deodorant, fun fact: the men's collection is actually better. But wash it off before you go to sleep, so your pores don't spend too much time clogged.
Any other advice is welcomed!
BE SAFE EVERYONE!!!

Moisturize straight out of the shower while you're still damp. If you have dry skin, use cream. Oily skin, use lotion. And don't forget to lock everything in with an oil for lasting hydration and shine. Use body butter or balm for your heels, elbows, and knees. 🌸

oral health ♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
now , obv u wanna be brushing your teeth 3 times a day , flossing , mouth wash etc .. but here are some extra things that can help improve your oral health , breath and teeth!!
oil pulling ♡
you can use coconut oil , sesame seed oil , or sunflower oil. swish a teaspoon of said oil around in your mouth to coat all your teeth , spit , and then repeat. @/ally.renee1 on TikTok recommends adding peppermint oil , this helps it taste better and also acts as a natural mouthwash!!
floss your teeth before brushing ♡
use either waxed or woven flosses! never use glide flosses , they have Teflon (Teflon is a chemical , it's used in stuff like non-stick sprays , flosses with Teflon literally don't do anything but glide between your teeth). try flossing as if you're flossing both teeth instead of the space in between!
water flossing ♡
for this you'll need a water flosser. hold for about 5 seconds in between each tooth (don't water floss after brushing teeth because you want the fluoride in the tooth paste to stay on your teeth!!)
tongue scrap ♡
self explanatory. get a tongue scrap , and scrap from back to front 5 times. it's really gross what kind of stuff comes off , so you wanna make sure its all gone!
mouth wash ♡
i'd recommend a teeth whitening one but any will work!! (obv you can use whitening strips too). swish for 30 seconds then spit.
brush teeth ♡
personally , i use an electric toothbrush bc the rounded brush head gets rid of plaque better , but its okay if you don't have one! manual toothbrushes are fine , just make sure you brush extra good!
i brush my entire mouth once , spit , and then brush it again, just to make sure i get absolutely everything. make sure you're brushing the teeth at the very back , your gums , the roof of your mouth , and your tongue!! brush for a total of 3 minutes.
extra ♡
why do i use mouth wash before brushing? because i don't want to wash away the remaining fluoride from the toothpaste that's still on my teeth. If it's morning , i use mouthwash again around 20 minutes after brushing, just to make sure my breath smells good.

Anon because I'm embarrassed with myself for this but how do you get into the habit of hygiene? I can only shower when told and put on deodorant when I get really bad (sensory issues, I'm sensitive to the aluminium)
anon's fine dw.
imma give some tips in general, but i'll try to help with stuff with getting habits for hygiene.
cant shower? wipe yourself down with a wet washcloth or a body cleanser wipe. (try to get smth that would be good for your skin, regarding if you have sensitive skin/etc)
i think the thing that helps us the most with remembering to do these things is to have them out in the open in areas you're constantly at. we're always in our room so we leave our hairbrush, deodorant, and acne face wipes on our desk for the most part. its like a constant subconscious reminder i think.
lotion!! keep that out too. your skin will get dry as shit so fast, esp if you shower too much or too little. your skin will get more sensitive if its dry. try not to use lotions with scents cause that shit WILL burn.
reminders. literally put them everywhere. set alarms with notes, use sticky notes. make several of them if you tend to just ignore them like we do. they will eventually get to you to the point you'll start listening i promise.
if your room gets trashy easily, keep a trash bag or a Walmart/store/plastic bag in there too. you leave the room and its more than half filled, throw it out and get a new one.

transmasc hygiene tips!
from a trans guy 685 days on T
you don’t need to be stanky to be a man! wash yourself! please!
shower: method men body was smells amazing, my favorite is juniper and sage. use unscented bar soap for your pits and pussy - wash under the clitoral hood!
personally, i sweat A LOT - so at least for me powder deodorant > gel. i use old spice, specially volcano bc it smells bomb
skincare to battle that teenage boy acne - the best skincare for me might not work for u bc it all depends on your skin type. i have dry, acne-prone, semi-sensitive skin. in the morning i use a gentle cleanser, a hydrating toner, moisturizer, and sunscreen. use facial sunscreen EVERY DAY! at night i use my cleanser and toner, a retinol serum, differin gel, and my moisturizer. if you’re going to do a face mask do it after your cleanser and optional toner or essence. in general, skincare should be applied from thinnest to thickest. the only essential steps in a skincare routine are a cleaner, moisturizer, and sunscreen.
don’t be stanky! wear deodorant! shower! wear body spray or cologne or perfume! brush your teeth! wash your face!

Femme Fatale Guide: Feminine Hygiene Tips Every Woman (or Vulva Owner) Should Know
Shower by washing with soap on the outside and water on the inside daily, before (and after) sex, or after any physical activity that leaves you sweaty
Never use douches or scented vaginal wipes/cleansers
Wear breathable cotton underwear & change it daily
Always wipe front to back
Pee after sexual activities. Always!
Keep your hair trimmed (you don't need to shave or wax if you prefer a little more coverage). Exfoliate and moisturize the outside skin 1-2x/weekly and daily, respectively – I'll always recommend Fur products for body hair removal/grooming!
Carry around vaginal cleansing wipes and/or keep some in your bathroom to freshen up at home (Rael makes great fragrance-free ones that are OBGYN approved. Their feminine mist also works well for a refresh)
Avoid tight pants/clothing (and thong underwear) when you can
Change your tampon/pad every 3-4 hours during that time of the month (if you don't use a menstrual cup). Avoid scented period products, and always make sure you don't have a lost tampon left up there
Clean up your diet if needed. Eating fewer processed foods, sugars, and meat/dairy or cutting down on sugary drinks/alcohol (or even coffee) should leave you with less odor down there
