Its silly third laser cannon kept me from ever caring about the E-wing before, but the Ahsoka version fixes that problem. It looks incredible! (What's the lore behind Home One being escorted by old X-wings while the pilots stationed on Lothal have the newer E-wings? I'd expect it to be the other way around. 🤷‍♂️)

Stand alone one shot, but written to blend in eventually with my WIP prequel, Reach Out and Feel Me. Don't need to read it first to follow this.

This piece immediately follows on from my other one-shot, Little Nephew. It is then followed on by my Day 3 Ahsoka Week 2023 piece, The Calm Before The Storm. Again, don't need to read those first. They just build on each other.

so in an attempt to actually use positive thinking, anytime i fuck up and my brain reacts as if ive cause a minor apocalyptic event, i compare my fuck up to the 4 minute fuck up committed by the crew of the uss william d porter.

and only today, as i was having to explain what happened to my mom when i was explaining the whole comparison thing, did i realise that most people dont know about it and ive decided that needs to change because its objectively hilarious.

...which is a weird thing to say about an event that occured on a warship in 1943, specifically november 14th.

see the uss william d porter was a fletcher-class destroyer but you dont need to know what that means, just that she had guns that went bang bang and that she was escorting another ship, the uss iowa, to cairo.

while they were on their way there, they performed some gun trials like testing the anti-aircraft guns or the torpedos. and while they were running a torpedo drill, the crew of the porter managed to fire a live torpedo straight at the iowa which you know, in terms of a list of things to do while escorting a ship, shooting a torpedo at them is not on that list.

especially if the president of the united states is on board.

yeah so fdr was on board and the gun trials were actually his idea, and part of the trials was that they were conducted under radio silence.

and that means the crew of the porter couldnt just call the iowa to be like "move out the way, we accidentally shot a torpedo at you."

but they did have signal lamps and you know, the signalman on board was trained to signal this exact kind of message.

...and uh never mind, the signalman did manage to successfully tell the iowa that a torpedo was coming toward them but wasnt as successful when it came to the direction the torpedo was coming from.

not all hope is lost though because the signalman could still use the signal lamp to correct his previous mistake and-, never mind, he announced that the porter was reversing, which she wasnt.

yeah so at catastrophic mistake number 3, they broke radio silence to warn the iowa and she managed to turn out of the way just in time which meant no one got hurt. and even though the inquiry into the incident led to chief torpedoman (fantastic job title btw) lawton dawson being sentences to hard labour, fdr intervened and waved away his sentence, saying it was all an accident.

but yeah, so thats my new measure for "how much did i really fuck up?" and when i compared accidentally picking up a pencil case without a tag on it in wilko, turns out it was a very minor fuck-up. yes, the cashier had to ask another worker to grab a duplicate so they could scan the barcode, but i didnt nearly kill the president during wartime via accidental friendly fire

Okok so kinda going off of the one you posted with Jace working off a debt for Garthy and also going off of the pirate/noble thing I said the other day…. Nobleman Jace gets rescued from the water maybe after like the ship he was on went down in a storm and he’s been drifting for awhile. He’s tired, he’s hungry, his throat is absolutely parched, and he’s completely lost. Porter is a pirate captain and rescues him. Gives him some food, some wine, and then makes clear of just how Jace is going to have to pay his stay onboard the ship

Or Porter’s ship attacks the one Jace is on….

oughhhh yeah. okay so @hyskenek and i have been discussing a pirate au as well including a roleplay thing between the two of them where jace has to beg for passage. so feel free to jump in with additional thoughts about this

but like yeah. jace is stranded and he’s tired and thirsty and hungry and has never had to fend for himself ever, and he balks when this pirate captain rescues him but then he gives him food and wine that almost tastes like what they have back home and maybe captain cliffbreaker feeds him a little too much of that really nice wine and so he’s all loose and pliant when the pirate says “it doesn’t look like you’ve got any gold on you anymore…but you’ll have to pay for your passage somehow. any ideas, birdie?” and jace giggles a little and leans forward over porter’s desk and goes. “i think i may have an idea or two. let me show you that i’m worth far more than petty gold” and sinks to his knees in front of the pirate captain. jace gets used by the crew as a whole in exchange for his passage but nobody ever forgets who he really belongs to.

One night while investigating Kathy’s death they are discovered and he dies while Liv is transported to witness protection to recover. But the whole world thinks Olivia Benson is Dead , so where is Noah ? But with his Uncle Rafa . In the events of her passing she leaves her son to her best friend.

So like it could have his mom in it and discuss how him living in her house for Noah is harming his mental health .And have him be upset because he never told her . Then like on the day the trail happens and she comes back they go out for drinks have a nice moment. She goes to the bathroom and sees a person flirting with Barba and backs off, she rationalizes that caught upon the memories.

However when it comes to the home front getting reinstated not an issue coming home and Rafa / possibly dad or even papi leaving doesn’t go over well. We can even get a moment when an upset and unruly Noah says I wish you didn’t come back and yeah.

This is the plot bunny 🐰 in my head can someone please try and make this a coherent story.

i dont personally ship them but i know there are people who still do (and i found out abt rise of the brave tangled dragons stuff when i was young but i never got into it) so i'm just submitting this for fun and bc it's kinda cute lol

Worried and uptight x Laidback prankster. They compliment each other so well!!! Jack helps Hiccup relax and not die of a heart attack from worring too much, and Hiccup makes Jack take things seriously when needed. Prep x Jock!!!! Sun x moon!!!! They're silly!! Hiccup's sarcasm and compassion pairs well with Jack's fun. That and Hiccup often tries to befriend everyone and Jack is incredibly lonely, they would be friends pretty quickly. Jack's whole origin involves the fact that nobody perceived or believed in him for a good 300 years before the events of the movie take place, but Hiccup if I remember correctly is pretty involved with folklore and legends and the like. He'd probably believe in Jack's existence which could lead to them meeting While Jack is kind of bitter in the beginning, we mostly just see him snarking the other spirits, since they're able to see him and just don't like him. The way he treats people and kids, however, is very different; he's all smiles and games even if they have no idea he's there! So I think Jack would be pretty friendly towards Hiccup, who had been previously bullied by literally everyone his age, which would be a VERY nice change of pace for him Idk. I think they would get along and maybe fall in love a little!!! They're just neat
