Look, I don't have anything against BatCat. It was my first Batship alongside WonderBat but Gotham War really didn't do their relationship any favors. If the failed wedding was bad enough, this arc almost 'Pauled' their relationship. I hope the next writer finds a way to rewrite write the main continuitiy Bruce to not be a black and white viewing self righteous deranged prick and Selina as less of a hypocritical gaslighting crime lord.

I don't hate Selina and Bruce together, I hate the way they're written right now because seeing them bicker like divorced parents rather an old married couple and act out of character ruins the appeal of their relationship.

So just fuck Bruce Wayne being a hero right. Like we threw the whole fucking plot of the movie out. Deliberately manipulating and assaulting our child is just what heroes do. Has dc lost the fucking plot also poor fucking Jason wtf wtf wtf. I want this entire story line fucking retconned it's fucking horrifying. I know a lot of writers don't listen to fans but who the fuck wants this I have never heard anyone actually support this shit wtf are they doing.

This is supposed to be a fucking hero and now he literally did what Mad hatter and fucking Scarecrow do.

Batman isn't a hero he's a Rouge.

The thing about this gotham war stuff is that it needs to end with a parallel to the start when Selina sits everyone down and explains what she is doing but this time is bruce apologizing in detail to everyone involved and it won't end like that

I do love seeing the Batfam beating the shit out of each other. I like how messy their relationships are and I have always loved flawed characters.

But idk, man, Batman #138 just really crossed a line for me and I need a reminder that there are other depictions of Bruce that aren't so fucking heinous.

I think the "Bruce is a good dad" convo misses out on how different children can get different dads even when it's the same guy.

Jason doesn't get the same dad. When Bruce flings Tim over a disagreement, it's a sign that he's worse than before and somethings up. When he does it to Jason, it's a Tuesday.

The idea that Duke is the super well-behaved and rule-following kid is really funny to me cause like, have you read Robin War? His bit in that book opens with him being arrested for wearing red shoes (long story, just know he was also wearing a red hoodie that apparently wasn't a problem) and he explains step by step to the cop exactly how he plans on escaping before executing that escape perfectly by jumping off a bridge. He fought an armored Jim Gordon, the Court of Owls, and Damian who had been manipulated into joining the Court. Duke managed to talk Damian down while getting his ass kicked and then kinda befriended the kid after. He also has defied Batman several times and was proven to be right. All with a healthy dose of sass.

But also I do like lil rule-following sweetheart Duke so I have a proposal. Duke Thomas who follows the rules he agrees with. Most of the time, he's the sweet little angel in the manor. He's polite, he's well-mannered, he's kind, and he does what he's told. However that's only because everything aligns with what he believes to be the right path. The moment Bruce makes a bad call or order, Duke takes it to 11 and becomes more impossible to order around than Jason. Chaotic Good Duke.

no i will actually never get over jason todd. he might not always be a hyperfixation but he will always be in my heart. i will always be immensely fond of the man who is so very defined by love and yet doomed for violence.

as a boy he believed robin was magic, he liked school, he sought out his biological mother though she never did the same for him, he shielded her in his last moments. he died in his robin suit, he gave up education to protect people, he was beaten as his mother watched.

as a teenager he begged his father to show him he missed him and that his death meant something, that he didn't come back into a world where he no longer had a place, that his death wasn't just a cautionary tale. he got his throat slit and he was left in a crumbling building.

he dedicated his life to protecting people, controlling crime in the only way he knew would benefit the people and keep them safe. he delivers justice and does his best to prevent cases such as his own. he is deemed irrational, an issue - he gets brainwashed, infused with a crippling fear. that is the first time his father tells him he loves him.

he is a big, scary dog people would sooner stay away from and put in a cage than give him a chance to show he would rip your attacker's arm off to save you. he's exposed his belly many times and all he ever got was the kick of a boot.
