This was so fun, I hope you enjoy and thank you!!

Jamie had a few little quirks that made him ten times more lovely to you. His shoes and clothes were always organized by color. He had an extensive skincare display to go with his extensive skincare routine. There were certain foods that were reserved for before and after matches. One of his little quirks that you didn’t find quite as adorable was the fact that his house was always freezing cold.

It didn’t matter if it was 100 degrees or 0, his house felt like a frozen tundra. With the lack of air conditioning in England, you always wondered how his house managed to be so cold all the time, but you’d just assumed there was some sort of magical reason for it.

Whatever the reason, though, you always needed to keep a stock of sweaters and sweatshirts at his house, even in the middle of summer. At least you always had an excuse to buy more soft, oversized outerwear.

Today, even though it was the middle of July, you’d spent the day curled up in a large sweater, under a pile of blankets on Jamie’s couch. You’d started keeping some books at his place, and he had every streaming service imaginable, so even though Jamie was at training, you had plenty to keep you entertained while you waited for him to return so you could spend your evening together, just like you did most nights.

“Is this how you’ve been all day?” Jamie asks after he returns home to see you in the very same position you were in when he left early that morning.

“I read outside for a while,” you respond, pushing the blanket back to reveal your shorts as you pull the hem of your sweater to reveal a tank top. You’ve learned that it’s best just to layer, so you can be comfortable inside and outside when you’re at Jamie’s house.

He just smiles at you as he flops on top of you, not even bothering to bring his bag upstairs or make himself a snack.

“It’s fucking freezing in here,” he says, pushing his hands under your sweater to rest on your warm stomach.

“Oh, I’ve never noticed,” you reply with a voice dripping in sarcasm. You’d brought up your disdain with the temperature of his house no less than a billion times, but he always just dismissed you with a laugh and a “I’ve never noticed.”

Now, though, it was your turn to laugh as Jamie attempts to work his way deeper and deeper under your sweater, starting by pushing his arms the rest of the way inside the fabric before he tries to wiggle his head in too.

“Jamie, you’re gonna stretch it out,” you laugh, even though you know the sweater was big enough to fit you and Jamie and probably one other person.

“No, ‘m not,” he responds with a laugh of his own as he pushes his head through the neck hole, successfully wearing the sweater with you.

Jamie’s laugh was nothing short of infectious, and the two of you spend the rest of the night giggling together as you cuddled up in the same sweater.

The Marilyn Monroe Sidebar Part 1/4

Basically I just want to talk about Marilyn Monroe and San at the same time for no very good reason.

I found myself saying a while ago that I feel like Choi San lives the life that Marilyn Monroe would have wanted for herself, because though their biographies diverge so sharply, they bring about the same sort of feelings in me whenever I encounter their work.

OK but no, but hear me out!

Disclaimer: My understanding of Norma Jean Baker/ Marilyn Monroe is as fictional as my understanding of Choi San the person/ the idol, but I do come by my fantasies with a sense of rigor insofar as I try to not have an agenda about what I want these people to be like.

The superficial similarities: Marilyn and San are both obviously gorgeous people.

Very photogenic bone structures, very symmetrical features. They're very lucky, physically, because they have a combination of features and then got styling and in the case of Marilyn, definitely, plastic surgery, that achieves the platonic ideal of what their specific 'type of person' is supposed to look like: San the handsome Korean man, Marilyn the pretty blonde (fake) blue eyed white woman. Marilyn is said by almost all eye witness accounts of her to have had the most astonishing skin - poreless, porcelaine, glowing. Even though my standards are admittedly bizarre because I've lived in a culture always obsessed with skincare (S. Korean), San exceeds the highest expectations for skin tone, clarity, evenness. Even his rosacea, which seems to bother him, has a' blusher' effect and only adds to his beauty.

All the Ateez boys are beautiful (otherwise they wouldn't have been selected) but I have to say that San's looks in particular being acknowledged as beauty represents, to me, a triumphant return to form for Korean self-worth that was so maliciously and intentionally harmed by the Japanese and then further destroyed by the trauma of the Korean War and subsequent years of poverty-and-political-disaster-stricken misery. He has almond, not round, eyes. He looks unmistakably Korean, with the cheekbones and the shape of the jaw. Koreans have recovered our sense of liking ourselves and how our typical features look again after a century's worth of painful detour. Every time I see San, I feel an extra level of pleasure just because of this additional meaning I read into his face.

Sidebar: We deny it now, I think, because of the racist attacks by white people who always figure out some new way to be racist, like it's a really important hobby to them, but there was a brief period where the "handsome" men often looked like they could have a white parent. If they actually had a white parents, of course, they couldn't really have a show business career because that was too painful and unacceptable for our own ethnocentric reasons.

Golden Age of Hollywood = Kpop: There's actually a lot about the system that created Marilyn Monroe out of Norma Jean Baker that is actually very similar to the system that created San the Idol. The Hollywood studio system took young people, gave them lessons in acting, singing, modeling, taught them how to behave, gave them media training before it was called that, made them change their bodies and faces and haircolor, assigned them personas, and often gave them whole new names. They invented fictional backgrounds for the young aspirant to 'sell' if reality was insufficiently exciting or was too dark. Movie 'fan' magazines were put out by the studios, sometimes directly and sometimes under cover of being journalism.

There's more of this type of content due to advances of technology for Kpop, but the creation of this sort of parasocial relationship with a fictional version of a person's performance persona (I am not saying that twice - I'm saying that there's the actual performance persona and then a fictional version of that person that is sold separately) has always been in existence.

The reason there's so much more content for Kpop is due to the fact that humans can have movie making equipment with them, complete with sound recording and editing capacity, in their pocket is something nobody in Hollywood ever imagined even though they could and did dream about Martians invading earth. But the creation of the 'persona' is a very old tradition, at this point.

After his fight with Akaza, Rengoku had to retire due to his injuries. He still trained some students but it was tamer, if he wasn’t careful he could relapse due to the life threatening injury. He met you through his clan. He was of age, so were you, so your two families agreed to make you two spend more time together. Don’t come at me it was the era okay. Rengoku is a very passionate man, he hoped to eventually settle down later with someone and while he’s not fan of the whole arranged marriage prospect he knows it’s kinda his duty. That’s why he tones it down a little and acts like a calmer gentleman. He breaks the ice pretty easily and you two soon found common topics. Rengoku will always appreciate a foodie like himself. He likes salty things tho…That’s why at every meeting, he tries to make it around lunch time. The way through someone heart is their stomach and both of you used that strategy. Now for JJK I went with someone tamer….ladies and gentlemen I’d like y all to welcome Nanami! I was gonna pick Gojo or Geto at a moment but we’ve seen that they have quite the apathetic sides towards normal folks. So I picked Nanamin as despite his rough exterior, he’s caring.

You two are neighbors. You got to know each other when your hamster decided to check on the new neighbor who comes at odd hours sometimes. Just kidding he was cooking something nice and the hamster sneaked in. While you were panicking over your lost baby, he fed them and asked around for who it was. You were very thankful about it but couldn’t scold properly the hamster. He found it cute but couldn’t help but scold a little. The next day you gave him food as a thanks which he appreciated. That’s how you two were for a long time till one day he felt a curse in the building, he went to exorcise it and saw you staring at it…The conversation that came after was rather awkward as he explained what it was and all. Nanami really doesn’t want to involve you in that word as it’s shit, his words. He managed to convince you by explaining how disgusting some curses could be. At first he’ll offer to train you a little so you can fend for yourself without anyone noticing (Gojo will eventually notice but he gets where nanami comes from and doesn’t mind so he won’t snitch either). And that’s how you got closer to your neighbor and future husband hehe.

At first the relation is purely him looking out for you and showing you how to deal with curses without becoming a sorcerer. It’s inevitable that you two will get closer and develop a deeper bond. Especially when he comes back hurt from missions. There was an instance where you accidentally came into the apartment after he finished his shower…he became beet red and later you both apologized for the moment. While Nanami is very serious, we’ve seen him being soft around those he doesn’t consider a threat or against his ideals. That’s why his guard is more down with you. He knows you’re an adult, you can take care of yourself, so he doesn’t act like a mentor. More like a concerned neighbor and later friend. Friendship with his is difficult to achieve due to his walls but you excitement and passionate personality just reminds him of his deceased friend. For some reasons he was looking at couples and picturing the two of you together…That’s what prompted him to organize a romantic dinner on white day and properly ask you out.

Your relationship with him is very vanilla. Nanami lives for the domestic moments with dates at relaxing places. Hell you encouraged him to finally take his long deserved vacation at a maldive resort with you. And now every year you two go on a long vacation at a luxury resort. He enjoys how you pamper yourself and thus is very complacent in you decorating him at home. If it’s too flashy he won’t go out with it or he shall be relentlessly teased. Im going to Japan for the first time after Christmas in December!! How has it been and do u have any tips? :)

Sorry if this reply long btw, I could honestly go overboard but I’ll try not to, I feel like some of these are v obvious but I didn’t know wut else to say… >3<;;;

I mainly planned most of my trip around all of Japan’s illumination, festivals, and autumn stuffs.

You don’t need to bring too many clothes bc you will most likely be buying there, and at least have one good pair of walking shoes bc despite all the trains n buses you will still do lots of walking. So many good stores, shops n shopping districts even their thrift/second-hand stores are good bc they even sell good quality vintage designer brands.

If you can bring an extra empty suitcase or even buy one there, bc no joke you will want to buy a lot of stuff. If you want skincare/haircare etc it’s actually better to buy at pharmacys/drug stores bc they’re cheaper, even cheaper than don quijote. Tho donki is pretty lit tho, but v overstimulating. I suggest going donki early morning rather than later in the day/night bc it’ll have the least amount of ppl.

Some places you need to book 1-3 months in advance. Some long queues for restaurants aren’t worth it, just walking around and discovering random new places are just as good as the hyped ones you see online.

Most places still want you to pay with cash so, make sure you at least have a bit of cash just incase.

If you want to pay extra money to skip the line to different attractions I would highly recommend it. Like seriously if you can book in advance do it. I used Klook (app) quite a bit, others are good too.

If you have the time stay maybe 2 nights at Kawaguchiko, you will have time to relax and enjoy the best Mt. Fuji views.

I didn’t go to Nara deer park bc idk to me I don’t find it super ethical?? But that’s just a me problem/dramatic bc I feel like they’re becoming quite domesticated now constantly being fed with the deer cookies/biscuits n whatnot. I did go to miyajima, can almost call it a deer island? where they seem more “wild”? ofc some have gotten accustomed to humans but I don’t think as bad as in Nara.

If you can add tea ceremony and/or kimono rental to your itinerary, I suggest to try it at Kyoto. I know they said the Gion district is banned to tourists but you can actually still go, they just have some roads closed of from tourists, like if you still wanna go like Fushimi Inari, kiyomizudera etc, it’s still ok bc I did my tea ceremony n hotel at Gion.
