Ultimate Guide: Tips to Combat Acne for Clear, Healthy Skin
Acne is a widespread skin issue that impacts millions globally. It affects individuals of all ages, from teenagers experiencing hormonal fluctuations to adults facing stress-related breakouts. This condition can be frustrating as it not only alters one’s physical appearance but also negatively impacts self-esteem and mental health. While the desire to try different products and home remedies is common, it is crucial to understand effective skincare practices and adopt a balanced, healthy approach to managing acne.
This guide offers tips on managing acne for clear, healthy skin. It covers skincare basics, lifestyle changes, and professional advice. Learning from experts at Jawed Habib Academy Laxmi Nagar Delhi can help you make a difference in people’s lives through top-notch training in personal and professional grooming, including skin and hair care guidance.
Understanding Acne: What Causes It?
Acne is caused by clogged hair follicles with oil and dead skin cells, leading to pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and sometimes cysts. Common acne triggers include hormonal changes, certain medications, diet, stress, and genetics.
1. Hormonal Changes: Teenagers go through hormonal changes that increase oil production, leading to acne. Women can also experience acne during their menstrual cycle, pregnancy, or while taking birth control pills.
2. Stress: Increases cortisol production, leading to inflammation and excess oil, which can cause breakouts.
3. Diet: Certain dietary habits, such as high sugar, dairy, or greasy foods, may worsen acne for some individuals, although food does not directly cause it.
4. Genetics: A family history of acne increases the likelihood of developing it due to inherited skin type and oil production characteristics.
5. Improper Skincare: Using inappropriate skincare products or routines, such as over washing or harsh products, can irritate the skin and lead to more breakouts.
Effective Acne Prevention and Treatment Tips
1. Keep Your Face Clean: Proper cleansing is essential for healthy skin, especially for those with acne-prone skin. It is important to wash your face twice daily with a gentle cleanser that is suitable for your skin type. Avoid harsh scrubbing, as this can worsen breakouts and irritate the skin. Regular cleansing helps remove excess oil, dirt, and makeup, which can clog pores and lead to acne. Stick to a consistent skincare routine to maintain clear and healthy skin.
2. Moisturize Regularly: It is common for people with acne to skip moisturizing out of fear that it will worsen their oily skin. However, not moisturizing can lead to dehydration, which in turn can cause the skin to produce more oil. Therefore, it is important to use a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer that will hydrate the skin without clogging the pores.
3. Exfoliate Wisely: Exfoliation is important for removing dead skin cells that clog pores, but excessive exfoliation can harm the skin barrier and cause irritation. Stick to gentle chemical exfoliants like salicylic acid or glycolic acid to effectively unclog pores and promote cell turnover without irritating.
4. Avoid Touching Your Face: Throughout the day, your hands collect bacteria, dirt, and oil that can worsen acne when transferred to your skin by touching your face. To prevent this, avoid resting your chin on your hands or picking at pimples as it can cause scarring and infection.
5. Choose Non-Comedogenic Products: When choosing skincare products, opt for those labeled as "non-comedogenic" to prevent pore blockages and reduce the chances of acne breakouts. This designation indicates that the products are designed to avoid clogging pores, making them suitable for use in sunscreen, makeup, and moisturizers. By selecting non-comedogenic products, you can help maintain clear and healthy skin by minimizing the risk of acne flare-ups.
6. Watch Your Diet: Research on the link between diet and acne is ongoing. Some evidence suggests that foods high in sugar and dairy may trigger breakouts by causing insulin spikes that increase oil production. To promote skin health, focus on eating more whole grains, fruits, veggies, and omega-3-rich high-sugar foods like fish and flaxseeds. Reduce your intake of high sugar and dairy foods.
7. Manage Stress: Stress is a major factor in causing acne breakouts, so it is important to find ways to manage your stress effectively. Relaxation techniques such as yoga, meditation, and deep-breathing exercises can help. Getting enough sleep, ideally 7-8 hours per night, is also crucial for overall skin and mental health.
8. Use Acne Treatments as Directed: Over-the-counter treatments with benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, or retinoids can help with persistent acne by reducing oil production, killing bacteria, and promoting skin cell turnover. Results may take several weeks, so be patient. If OTC products don't work, seek a dermatologist for stronger prescriptions.
9. Stay Hydrated: Ensuring you drink enough water is crucial for maintaining healthy skin. Hydration helps prevent irritation and can aid in the elimination of toxins that lead to acne. Aim to consume a minimum of 8 glasses of water daily to keep your skin and body in optimal health.
10. Consult a Dermatologist: ADermatologist can provide specific advice and care, including chemical peels, therapy using light, and prescription medicines. If you have severe acne, these solutions work better than over-the-counter products. A dermatologist can help you create a personalized skincare regimen that addresses your unique requirements.

Lifestyle Changes for Clear Skin
1. Maintain a Healthy Diet: Diet has an impact on skin health. Eating a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins is recommended for healthy skin. Processed foods and sugary snacks can lead to skin inflammation and acne, so it's best to consume them in moderation.
2. Get Regular Exercise: Exercise is essential for healthy skin as it promotes increased blood flow, nourishing skin cells and eliminating toxins. Additionally, exercise aids in reducing stress levels, which in turn can reduce the occurrence of acne breakouts.
3. Clean Pillowcases and Towels Frequently: Pillowcases and towels accumulate dirt, bacteria, and oil that can lead to skin breakouts when they come in contact with your skin. To prevent this, it is recommended to change your pillowcase every few days and use a fresh towel every time you wash your face. Regularly washing these items can help maintain clear and healthy skin by reducing the transfer of impurities onto your skin.
4. Limit Sun Exposure: While a bit of sun can Excessive sun exposure can worsen acne by increasing inflammation and causing post-acne scarring. To help dry out acne, it is important to protect your skin by always wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30.
Remember, clear skin is not an overnight achievement, but with dedication, the results will follow.

okay so, this evening has not been fun for me, so ofc I’m gonna try coping via escapism 🤩
and as always you are absolutely NOT obligated to write it. I’m so serious, if you don’t want to there’s absolutely zero pressure emmy, I’d completely understand one hundred percent.
very long story short, I got my grades back for this semester and despite doing soooo much better overall this year than my first year and not failing a single class this time around, unless I get a miracle it’s looking like I’m going to have to be asked to withdraw from my university for a whole year ☹️
and as someone who got straight As from elementary til my last year of high school/made school my whole life, this is just an enormous blow to any self confidence I had finally built back up. I was doing better mentally and finally feeling a bit like myself again and I’ve just felt so sick with anxiety all evening because I don’t even know what to do anymore. If they decide to ask me to leave, it’ll make my chances of medical school even slimmer than they already were and I can’t help but feel like a bit of a failure and like I’ve just ruined my future despite knowing it’s not all true and I still have options :(
it’s so hyper specific and I’m so so so sorry abt that, but would it be possible for some comfort + tons of fluff with kuroo possibly? I just want to be babied a bit by this fictional man LOL. I feel like he’d know exactly what to do and how to get my mind off of it until I inevitably get that email :(
anon <3
My love, I am so sorry you’re having to go through this, and I am here, to PERSONALLY, tell you that you are far from a failure, and you should still be proud of yourself for getting so far. It’s okay to have bumps like this that halt your dreams, and it doesn’t make you any less deserving of continuing to chase those dreams. And hey! Use me as an example! I went from being a mechanic for four years and being fired for being so terrible (yes that is an actual thing that happened) then I went to college for writing; and now I’m a licensed esthetician with a focus in makeup artistry! There is no such thing as a dead end, no such thing as a closed room, just keep treating yourself gently and reminding yourself that this is far from over, your dream is still more than obtainable with some time and it is more than okay.
Ahem. Let me get off my soapbox PFFFF-
——-
Last night, you refreshed your emails who knows how many times, staring at your computer screen on the verge of hyperventilating for what felt like hours- and it might have been; your brain can’t process how long it was right now.
Your bottom lip was tight between your teeth, the hand on the mouse pad trembling, waiting in anticipation, tight with nerves. Your other rested a fist on your lap, waiting for the results and occasionally wiping a rogue tear that falls.
There’s a soft rapping on the door, but you don’t turn to face it. You merely keep refreshing.
“Hey,” tetsuro whispers, and you hear his feet padding into the room, and when he gets next to you, he crouches down. Once again, you can’t spare him a glance. “Any updates?”
You stay silent. He winces, “I’ll take that at a no…” he lays a warm hand on your back and gently rubs it in circles, “it’s okay baby. We’ll figure it out, we always do.”
“Tetsuro, please,” you whimper, not quite in the mood for a pep talk. “I’m going to puke right now, my life is in flames and crumbling around me, I’m so nervous, please. Save the pep talk, I can’t handle it right now.”
“I'm sorry,” he soothes. He doesn’t say anything further, just rubbing your back in slow, firm circles with his palm, blinking his golden eyes up at you warmly, lovingly.
You feel your body cramp from being under his loving touch, suddenly dawning on you just how long you've been sitting in the chair, inert and unwilling to peel your eyes from the email inbox. You suddenly become hyperaware of how your legs feel numb, your fingers are cramped and your eyes are burning. It's the first time in hours you've taken a break from your refreshing to scrub at your eyes, breeding a wetness to try and soothe the sting.
You hear Tetsuro sigh, "why... don't we go to bed, angel?"
"No."
"But-"
"I can't," you whimper. "Not now. Not yet-" your breathing picks up as you look at him in despair, chest fluttering and heart pounding as you try to breathe. He furrows his brows and shushes you softly, big hands moving to cradle your cheeks and force you to look at him.
"Baby," he says softly, but firm enough to ground you. "It's late. They're not going to send it this late at night. And if they do, we'll deal with it when we wake up tomorrow. But I'm almost certain they're not going to send it to you this late. I promise, okay?"
You let out a shaky sigh and look at the time: 22:43. It's far too late to be thinking, to be worrying, and you'd much rather breakdown in the comfort of your own bed, than alone in this wooden chair.
But you do know that, no matter what, Tetsuro is going to be right next to you, rubbing your back and cradling you close.
When you say nothing, Tetsuro slowly stands up and scoops you in his big, strong arms, "come on, angel face. Let's get some rest." You thunk your head against his chest and fist your fingers into the collar of his shirt, letting him carry you to the bathroom where he plops you down on the countertop.
He grabs your toothbrush and some toothpaste, and gently tells you to open, which you sleepily do. He's extra careful, making sure to get every tooth he can, scrubbing softly as to not make you uncomfortable. Silence, save for the bristles on the toothbrush, fills the room, the corner of Tetsuro's tongue sticking out in focus.
"Okay. Spit," he says, moving so you can comfortably turn your head and spit the froth out. Skincare comes next, and his touch is even softer as he massages in every product you use.
"Good girl," he whispers, picking you back up to carry you to bed. "My good girl. Good, brave girl..."
You drift off in his arms at his praise, not even feeling the way he gets you into pajamas or gets you under the covers, the exhaustion of the constant high of anxiety weighing you down.
Waking up this morning, your bones feel like bricks under the wall of your muscles, barely able to move under the force of it all. Your skin feels like paper, so hyper aware of it now that you’ve had the time to come down from your anxious state. You blink up at your ceiling, eyelids tight as you do, and you continue to stare and let your body wake up molecule by molecule, inch by inch. You feel it coming to life, and you slowly bring your hands up to press the heels of your palms into your eyesockets to force the rest of the sleep out of your eyes.
When your hand then drops next to you, you feel yourself grow saddened at the lack of warmth. Tetsuro’s been out of bed long enough to let his side cool down, and it makes you want to cry at the idea of being alone right now.
You never should’ve shut him down last night. All he wanted to do was help, and you shut him up and made him feel bad, now he’s not even in bed with you anymore, and you feel tears sting at your eyes again, this time out of anxiety of making him upset, and-
“Ah, you’re up.”
Your guilty, howling mind shuts up as soon as tetsuro’s body makes its way into the doorway, smiling and stirring his tea with a spoon. “Good morning, babygirl.” He takes a step into the bedroom and before you know it, he’s at your side, sitting on the bed next to you. He uses his free arm to wrap around you, but not pull you to his chest. “Did you sleep okay?”
“No,” you whimper, voice croaky. He nods and lets his thumb rub up and down the curve of your shoulder. “I’m sorry I yelled at you last night.”
His brow cocks in confusion, “huh?”
Now, finally, you turn to face him, “I snapped at you… I told you to-“
“You told me you didn’t want a pep talk,” he chuckles, shaking his head. “That’s okay. You’re allowed to tell me that my words might not be the most helpful. I’m not going to get mad at you for that. It’s not like you told me to shut my ugly ass up- you’d never do that, I’m too pretty.”
This, for the first time in what feels like days, has you crack a smile. You let out a small laugh, breathy and barely there, but he smiles proudly all the same, pulling you in for a hug now. “You’re a goof,” you murmur.
“And you, need to eat something,” he whispers against your head, and you deflate in his arms again. “Don’t you protest me, you know you have to eat something.”
“‘M not hungry,” you say.
“I know, but you didn’t eat last night, and I let you sleep in-“ at his words, your eyes flick to the clock on your nightstand, red numbers flicked onto 10:24. “You have to have something.”
“But-“
“I know,” he says. “Do you want something sweet, or savory?”
20 questions. It’s something he does after a fit of your anxiety to try and make your life just a hair easier, decisions quicker, and your day just a bit brighter because you’re getting exactly what you want. He claims he used to do it with kenma, hence why he’s so good at it.
“Uhm…” you shrug, “why not both?”
“Both?” He echos. “Okay. Do you want fruit?” You nod. He nods with you. “Okay. How about a bagel?” You nod again. “Okay. With some cream cheese?” You shake your head and he clicks his tongue, “butter?” You shake your head again, “okay. Uhmmmm-“
“I want to do it,” you mumble, and he presses a kiss to your head.
“You sure? Because I can whip something up-“
“I have to do it. I have to put the toppings on my bagel.”
He nods a final time and squeezes you close, “okay. If you need any help deciding, I’m right here, okay? I’ll be cutting your fruit.”
You hum and slowly swing your legs out of the bed, stretching and mewling from the force. When your hand instinctively darts for your phone, he clicks his tongue, "leave it. You don't need it right now."
"But-"
"I told your family to text me if they need you. Your phone is on do not disturb. Leave it there, babe." He swings his own long legs over and extends a hand out to you, wiggling his fingers enticingly for you to hold. When you grab three of them, he smiles and slowly leads you into the kitchen.
The news is playing on tv at a low volume, there’s a discarded blanket on the couch, and you quirk a brow in intrigue, “tetsu, how did you know I was awake?”
He shrugs, “my life shifts when you wake up for the day. I feel it in my soul.”
“Ew.”
“Shaddup.”
You laugh again, smiling a weak smile as you plop down at the table. He makes his way to begin cooking your bagel, popping it in the toaster before making his way to cut up your fruit. You sigh and play with your fingers, wondering if you should make conversation, or let silence rule, and you sigh shakily before opening your mouth to speak. “What’re you going to have?”
“I, my love, already ate some toast with some apple jelly and butter.”
“Oh.”
“But I’m going to pick at some fruit with you, because I don’t want you eating alone.”
“You don’t have to do that-“
“I know,” he hums. Then, he turns to face you with a smile. “I want to.”
Your heart flutters as you smile at him, looking down at your fingers to distract yourself. Usually, you’d be scrolling through your social media, checking apps and emails, but since he forbade it, you’re left to listen to him sing softly and the newscaster drone on and on. After a few short minutes, your bagel pops, and he plates it with some sliced fruit and places it in front of you, before kissing your head and grabbing various toppings for it.
Breakfast drags, but in a comforting way, where it drips by so slow like honey, syrupy sweet as Tetsuro talks. He talks about everything and anything, about the game Kenma's going to stream for charity, and the funny meme he sent the streamer- or funny to Tetsuro at least, as allegedly Kenma left him on read. You find yourself eating at his company, and before you know it, your bagel, juice, and fruit is gone. You look down at your plate in surprise, and he wiggles his brows at you, "feel better, angel?"
"Uhm... yeah," you say, almost confused. "I didn't think I was that hungry."
"I don't care how you thought, I'm glad you ate." He stands out of his chair with a stretch, "you still hungry? I can make you another-"
"No," you sigh. "I... I really should check my email-"
"Not until I give you a bath and a massage."
You quirk your brow, "you're going to give me a bath and a massage?"
"Of course," he chuckles, "If you're too anxious to give yourself some self care, that's plenty fine, but that means I'm going to give you self care." He shrugs, "those are just the rules."
"Do you even know how to give a massage?"
"Bokuto and I used to massage each other after practice all the time." Your brow quirks higher, and he holds his hand up, "don't ask. Just trust me."
"Can Bokuto give me a massage?" You tease, giggling at the way he gives you a fake smile and a high pitched "no," to tease you.
He presses a kiss to your head, "I'm going to go run the bath, why don't you get changed and meet me in there?"
"Okay," you hum. He nudges your nose with a finger before stalking down the hall to the bathroom. When your hear the tub running, you make a dash towards the small office room for your laptop, nervous to check your email, and-
"I took it out!" He calls, followed by a cackle.
"You're an ass!"
"It's your favorite ass, though!"
You grumble and make your way to the bedroom to get undressed per his request, stealing one of his oversized shirt to conceal yourself until the tub is filled. You stalk into the bathroom and blush under the way his eyes glaze up and down you, "fuck, I love you in my clothes."
"Back off, I'm about to bathe," you snort.
"Yeah, but I can still find you hot." As the tub fills, he adds a scoop of epsom salt, and a splash of bathing bubbles, large bubbles brewing on the surface of the water. You smile and watch them shape and form, the sweet smell filling the air around you. You feel excitement brewing inside of you as you watch him turn off the water and push himself up and off the floor with the edge of the tub, "should do it, baby. I'm gonna let you soak, I'll set up for a little massage after, make you nice and comfortable.
"Okay," you mewl. He presses a kiss to your lips and makes his way to the door. "Hey, Tetsu?" You say, reaching for his hand, which he takes happily. "Thank you."
"Anything for you, babygirl," he whispers. "You know that." He pinches your cheek and leaves the bathroom for you to relax.
The bath water is warm as you soak in the epsom salt, feeling your muscles loosen and relish in the combination. You bury your face in the bubbles and close your sleepy eyes, letting the smells lull you into a state of relaxation. Your head is still heavy with anxiety, but your heart is full of love and warmth for your boyfriend.
You're not sure how long you were floating in silence, lost in the bubbles and oils, but he gently knocks on the door, "you okay? Haven't heard you for a bit."
"Yes," you mewl, stretching. The water is now chilly and the bubbles are mostly gone and you rub your hands over the surface of the water. "Is the massage stuff ready?" You tease, looking at your hands and wincing at how pruny they are.
"It's been ready, I didn't want to bother you," he snickers. “Come out when you’re ready, just wanted to make sure you were alive.”
“I’m alive, I’m coming,” you call, getting out of the tub to dry yourself. You take your time drying off, trying to enjoy the last little bit of warmth clinging to your skin. You leave the bathroom to get dressed into some clean pajamas, smiling as tetsuro busies himself with the whole massage set up. “Candles? You spoil me.”
“There’s a lot of smells going on,” he says with a face.
“I know I can tell,” you hum. Getting dressed, you slip on a pair of his boxers and a shirt, and you make your way to the bed to wait for him.
“Alright-“ he pats the bed for you to crawl on top of. “C’mere, let me pamper you.”
You giggle, “you have been pampering me!” Regardless, you swing your legs onto the bed and lay on your stomach, squeaking as he straddles you and cracks his knuckles.
He lays a massive paw on each of your shoulders, using his thumb to splay and press the muscle under his force, and your eyes cross in the middle and flutter in relaxation. They work in circles to press into the muscles, before laying flat on your back to dig his heel into before his fingers press and roll back up to your shoulders.
Thick fingers roll over the knot in your right shoulder, no doubt from the refreshing of the page for hours on end last night. You whine and bury your face in the bed, and he hums, "I know beautiful, I almost got it."
"Feels good," you murmur.
"Told you it would," he says softly. “You need to trust me.”
“I think I trust you too much,” you snicker. Tetsuro says nothing, merely offering you a laugh through his nose as he continues with the massage.
Your body twitches as the tips of his fingers dig into your side as part of the massage, but your snicker doesn’t go unnoticed by your boyfriend. “Something wrong?” He hums, doing it again.
"Tetsu!" You giggle, reaching behind you to try and stop his wrists, "that tickles!"
"That's crazy, I'm not tickling you," he snickers, and it's hard to tell if he's lying or not. "I mean, I can tickle you, if you want-"
"No!" You squeal, and your laughter turns choppy as he uses the sides of his hands to playfully chop up and down your back, making your body instinctively let out bumpy noises from your mouth.
“Quite an attitude on ya today,” he taunts, before hooking his fingers up under your arms, making you shriek, “okay, now I’m tickling you.”
Your mind spins from the sensory change, the signals in your brain cross, but one thing is for certain:
The email is far from the front of your mind.
And it feels good to laugh.

Ps: sorry reader I made you really naive in this but you get him back at the end x.

▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄
You were a bright student at the beauty school, always eager to learn and improve your skills. You had reputation for being kind and naive, and your classmates loved your cheerful and helpful nature. You spent most of your days in class, learning all the latest techniques and trends in makeup artistry. As you walked down the hallway, your mind was filled with thoughts of the upcoming beauty competition that you were preparing for, completely unaware of the drama that was about to unfold in your life.
Despite your naive nature, you weren't stupid by any means. You had a strong intuition and a talent for reading people's emotions, but when it came to relationships, you often found yourself making poor choices due to your trusting nature. You were so focused on your studies and career goals that you often missed the signs of potential heartbreaks and betrayals.
You sat in class with your friends, chatting amiably about the latest gossip and news around the school. One of your friends brought up the topic of the delinquents they had seen down the street that morning, mentioning the name Ran Haitani. The mere mention of his name sent a shiver down your spine, and you couldn't help but feel a little curious and intrigued. As your friends continued to talk about Ran Haitani, you couldn't help but interject with a question. "What's he like, really?" you asked, your curiosity getting the better of you. Your friends looked at you a little surprised, as they knew you were usually quite reserved and shy when it came to guys.
One of your friends spoke up, "Oh, he's just a bad boy thats hot, ya know? He's got this charm that draws people in, and he's fearless when it comes to taking risks." Another chimed in, "But he's also got a reputation for being a player. He's got a way of making girls fall for him and then breaking their hearts."
You listened intently to your friends' description of Ran Haitani, feeling a mixture of confusion and intrigue. Part of you couldn't help but feel drawn to his charismatic persona, but another part of you was wary of his reputation for being a player who breaks hearts. You tried to shake off the conflicting emotions you were feeling, telling yourself that it was silly to be so interested in someone you had never even met. But the more your friends talked about him, the more you found yourself wondering what it would be like to be on the receiving end of that charming smile and dangerous gaze..
As the conversation continued, you found it harder to shake off the thoughts and feelings that were stirring within you. You knew deep down that getting involved with someone like Ran Haitani would only lead to trouble, but for some reason you couldn't help but feel a strange sense of excitement at the prospect.
After class ended, you and your friends left school and began walking home. As you walked past a corner, you spotted a group of delinquents hanging out, their intimidating presence instantly catching your attention. Among them was Ran Haitani, his sharp gaze and confident stance instantly recognizable. And next to him was his younger brother, Rindo, who seemed to have a more playful and mischievous demeanor. Your friends tensed up as they saw the delinquents, but you couldn't help but feel a little bit of excitement. Part of you was scared, but the other part was intrigued, and you found yourself watching them intently, trying to catch a glimpse of Ran Haitani's infamous smirk.
Your friends whispered to you to keep walking and not attract any attention to yourself, but you couldn't take your eyes off the two brothers. They were so different, yet at the same time it was clear that they were close. Ran seemed cool and collected, while Rindo had a more carefree and carefree attitude, but both of them had a dangerous aura about them. As you watched them, Ran's gaze suddenly flicked in your direction, and your heart skipped a beat as his eyes locked onto yours for a moment. His eyes held a hint of recognition, as if he knew who you were, and a hint of something else - interest, perhaps? Whatever it was, it sent a shiver down your spine and you found yourself unable to look away.
Your friends tried to tug you away, but you were frozen in place, unable to tear your eyes away from Ran's intense gaze. Finally, Rindo noticed your staring and nudged his brother with a sly smile. Ran's expression remained impassive, but there was a hint of a smirk on his lips as he continued to look in your direction.
You could feel the heat rising to your cheeks as your friends finally managed to pull you away. As you walked away, you glanced back over your shoulder, and saw that both Ran and Rindo were still looking in your direction. You couldn't shake off the feeling that ran noticed you, and you couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking. As you and your friends continued walking, your friends suddenly erupted into whispers and exclamations. They had noticed the way Ran Haitani had been looking at you. "Did you see that? one whispered. "He was totally checking you out!" another squealed. You shook your head at your friends excitement and speculation. "No" you said, trying to dismiss their assumptions. "He wasn't checking me out, he was just looking in my direction. It doesn't mean anything." Your friends tried to argue, trying to convince you that Ran was obviously interested in you, but you didn't want to believe it. You didn't want to get your hopes up or read into things that weren't there.
Your friends continued to debate with you about Ran's intentions, but you remained firm in your conviction that it was all just a coincidence. You didn't want to admit that the thought of Ran being interested in you excited you, so you tried to play it cool and act nonchalant. deep down, though, a small part of you hoped that your friends were right and that Ran really was interested in you. But you quickly pushed that thought aside, reminding yourself that he was a delinquent with a bad reputation, and that getting involved with him would only lead to trouble.
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
A few days had passed since your encounter with Ran Haitani, and you had almost forgotten about it. But fate had different plans in store for you. As you walked into the convenience store, you noticed Ran standing by the chips aisle. Your heart skipped a beat as you remembered him, and you couldn't help but feel a little nervous you tried behind another isle until it was to late he was already looking at you. Ran smiled lightly as he saw you, and he sauntered over to you with his usual casual confidence. "Hey there" he said, his voice smooth and playful. You tried to act casual and calm, but your heart was racing and you couldn't help but feel a little flustered in his presence.
You tried to come up with a witty response, but your mind went blank and you just stumbled over your words. Ran chuckled at your nervousness, clearly enjoying the effect he was having on you. "You're cute when you're nervous" he teased, leaning against the shelf next to you. Your cheeks burned as you heard his compliment, and you tried to regain your composure. "I'm not nervous" you managed to say, your voice betraying you by cracking slightly. Ran smirked, obviously enjoying your attempts to act casual.
He took a step closer to you, and you could feel the heat radiating off his body and the scent of his cologne filling your senses. "Oh really?" he said, his voice low and seductive. "Then why is your heart beating so fast?'" You could feel your heart beating faster and faster in your chest, and you couldn't deny that Ran was right. You were a nervous wreck, and you couldn't understand why he had such a strong effect on you. You tried to come up with a response, but your mind was a jumble of nerves and conflicting emotions.
You were completely under his control, and you knew it. His touch sent electric currents through your body, and you couldn't tear your gaze away from his intense eyes. He leaned in closer, his breath hot against your ear as he spoke, his voice a whisper, "You can't hide it from me, you know. I can see right through you.'"
Ran's words sent a shiver down your spine, and you could feel the intensity of his gaze boring into yours. Suddenly, he blurted out, "Go on a date with me.'"
You were taken aback by his sudden proposition, but before you could respond, he continued, "Don't overthink it. Just say yes." Your mind was a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions, but somehow you found yourself nodding in agreement. "Uh, yes sure."
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
A few hours later, you found yourself at Ran's house, alone with him in his room. As you sat on the edge of Ran's bed, your mind was racing. How the fuck did you end up here, alone with him in his room? You tried to push past the shock and focus on the present, but your thoughts kept going back to earlier. The date had been a whirlwind of flirting and teasing from Ran, and you found yourself getting more and more worked up. His intense gaze and confident demeanor had left you feeling flustered and horny at the same time.
You remembered how he had whispered suggestive things into your ear, and how he would touch you in ways that made your skin tingle. You tried to push those thoughts away, but the memories kept replaying in your mind, causing a heat to pool in your stomach.
Ran turned around and stalked over to you, his eyes dark with desire. "Can't stop thinking about me, can you?" he asked with a smirk, leaning down to press his body against yours. His touch ignited a fire within you, and you found yourself responding to his advances. Ran's hands ran up and down your body, exploring you as his lips crashed down onto yours. "You taste so good," he breathed, his words sending shivers down your spine. "I wanna fuck you so bad rightnow."
Ran lifted you a bit more on the bed, his hungry gaze devouring your body. He kissed his way down your neck, leaving a trail of kisses and bites as he explored your sensitive skin. His hands tugged at your dress, revealing your lace bra and panties.
With his fingers, Ran unhooked your bra, freeing your breasts. He took one swollen nipple into his mouth, sucking and teasing it with his tongue, causing you to arch your back and moan loudly. His hands cupped your breasts, squeezing and kneading them as he continued to pleasure you with his mouth.
"You like that, huh?" Ran murmured against your skin. "You're so fucking responsive, baby. I'm gonna make you cum so hard." You could only nod, your body trembling with anticipation. Ran's hands moved down your body, his fingers slipping beneath your panties and finding your wet folds again. He stroked your clit, circling it slowly, building up the pleasure until you were writhing beneath him. "Please... Ran," you begged, your voice hoarse with need. "I need more..." Ran chuckled, his warm breath fanning your skin. "Patience, baby. I'm gonna make this good for you."
Ran positioned himself between your thighs, his hard cock pressing against your entrance. Your eyes locked with his, a mixture of excitement and nervousness reflected in your (e/c) gaze.
"You ready for me, baby?" Ran asked, his voice low and seductive. You nodded, your heart pounding. "Yes,please... I want you..." With one smooth thrust, Ran filled you his cock sliding deep inside your tight pussy. You cried out, your body adjusting to the invasion, the sensation both overwhelming and exquisite. Ran began to move, his hips thrusting in a steady rhythm. Each stroke sent waves of pleasure through your body, your walls gripping his cock tightly. You wrapped your legs around his waist, pulling him closer, urging him to go deeper.
"Fuck, you feel so good," Ran groaned, his muscles stracing as he drove into you. "Your pussy is like a vice, milking my cock..."
Your hands gripped his shoulders, your nails digging into his skin as you rode the waves of pleasure. Ran's pace quickened, his strokes becoming more intense, hitting all the right spots within you. "I'm... I'm gonna cum, Ran!" You cried out, your body tensing. Ran's fingers found your clit, rubbing it in circles as he pounded into you. "Cum for me, baby. Let go..." your orgasm hit you like a storm, your body shaking as waves of pleasure rolled through you. You cried out, your walls clenching around Ran's cock, milking him as your juices flowed.
Ran grunted, his own release building as he felt you tighten around him. He thrust a few more times, then pulled out, his throbbing cock glistening with your combined fluids. Your eyes widened as you saw him stroke his length, his hand moving in a blur.
With a guttural groan, Ran erupted, his hot cum spraying across your stomach and breasts. You gasped, your body still quivering from your orgasm. You reached down, your fingers playing in the warm liquid, smearing it across your skin.
Ran collapsed beside you, his breathing ragged. He pulled you close, his hands gently caressing your body. "That was fucking incredible, baby. You're amazing." You snuggled into his embrace, your heart racing. You had never experienced such raw passion, and you couldn't help but wonder what the future held with this charismatic delinquent. Little did you know, you were about to discover the true side of him....
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
Days after you guys would meet up and go on dates randomly and he would text you during the night sexting he would buy you random things as well and this drawn you to develop deep feelings for him it made you think that this is turning into something serious between the two of you.
But that's when lately you couldn't help but notice that Ran had been acting bit distant lately. He was constantly glued to his phone, and whenever he received a call, he would make an excuse to step away. Something felt off, and your suspicion and worry grew with each passing day. You thought to yourself it might be something important since he was part of gang.
One day, as you and Ran were out on a date, you noticed him scrolling through his phone more than usual. You tried to shake off the feeling of unease, but you couldn't help but glance over at his phone, wondering who he was texting. Just as you were about to ask him about it, he suddenly got a call, and he looked at you with a guilty expression before quickly stepping away to take it.
Ran reappeared after his phone call, his expression guarded and distant. You couldn't ignore the feeling of unease that had been building up inside you, and you decided to confront him.
"Who were you talking to?" you asked, trying to keep your voice steady. Ran's expression remained guarded, and he avoided eye contact as he replied, "Just a friend." The words stung, and your suspicion flared up. "A friend?" you repeated, your voice betraying your disbelief.
Ran seemed uncomfortable under your scrutiny, and he looks at you. "Yeah, just a friend," he repeated, as if trying to convince himself as much as he was trying to convince you. Despite your growing suspicion, you didn't want to jump to conclusions and cause a scene so you decided to drop the conversation for now. But deep down, you couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off.
Ran seemed relieved that you had dropped the subject and quickly changed the topic, trying to brush off your concerns. The rest of the date continued awkwardly, with Ran still distracted by his phone and avoiding any mention of his "friend". After a few moments of uncomfortable silence, you gathered up the courage to bring up the conversation again. "Ran, can I talk to you about something?" your voice was hesitant, unsure of how he would react.
Ran paused in his scrolling and looked up, a hint of annoyance flickering across his face. "What is it?" he asked, a note of impatience in his tone.
You swallowed, trying to ignore the pang of hurt in your chest. "It's just... I can't help but notice that you've been acting different lately. You're always on your phone, and you never seem to have time for me." Your voice was quiet, laced with a mixture of concern and insecurity. Ran's face softened slightly at your words, and he set down his phone. "It's just some stuff with my gang," he said, sighing. "Nothing for you to worry about."
He reached out and took your hand, his touch surprisingly gentle. "I'm sorry if I've been distant. It's just been a tough time dealing with some gang-related issues." Ran's gentle touch and sincere apology helped to soothe your worry some, and you tried to push aside your nagging doubts. Maybe you had been overthinking things, and he was just having a hard time dealing with his gang-related issues.
The walk home was quiet but not uncomfortable, and you found yourself walking side by lado in companiable silence. When you finally reached your doorstep, you turned to Ran, thanking him for walking you home. He smiled, looking more like his usual self. "No problem," he said, leaning in to give you a quick kiss on the cheek.
"See you soon," he said, as he stepped back.
You watched him walk away, his figure disappearing into the night. Despite your lingering doubts, you tried to push them aside and focus on the fact that he had reassured you and apologized for his behavior. When you finally made it into your apartment, you felt exhausted both physically and emotionally. The events of the night had left you feeling drained and confused, and you couldn't shake off the lingering doubts about Ran. As you stepped into the shower, the hot water cascaded down your body, loosening the tension in your aching muscles. After the shower, you collapsed into bed, hoping that sleep would bring clarity to your chaotic thoughts.
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
Next day as you made your way to your beauty school, your mind was preoccupied with thoughts of Ran. He hadn't called or texted you since the night before, and you couldn't help but worry that something was wrong. You tried to push aside the nagging feeling of doubt and focus on your classes, but your mind kept wandering back to him.
Hours later you were walking home from your classes, lost in thought and still worried about Ran, when your phone suddenly rang. You glanced down at the screen, seeing that it was Rindo calling. Surprised and a bit worried, you answered it. "Hello?" you said, your voice slightly hesitant. Rindo's voice came through the phone, "Hey, is Ran with you?" he asked, skipping any pleasantries.
As you were about to tell him something else your words caught in your throat as you suddenly spotted Ran in the distance, his arm casually slung over the shoulder of another girl. You froze, feeling a knot forming in your stomach as you watched them chatting and laughing together. "what the hell" you breathed, your voice barely above a whisper.
Your mind was reeling, and you felt unable to tear your gaze away from the scene unfolding in front of you. Ran seemed completely engrossed in his conversation with the girl, seemingly unaware of your presence just a few yards away. Ran's head suddenly snapped up, and his eyes met yours. You watched as his expression changed from surprise to careless, and for a moment, he just stood there frozen.
Feeling the tears welling up in your eyes, you quickly turned away and walked away as fast as you could, wanting to put as much distance as possible between yourself and Ran. The hurt and betrayal of seeing him with another girl was almost too much to bear. As you hurried away, your mind raced with conflicting emotions. How could he do this to you after everything you'd been through together? The thought of him with another girl was like a dagger to the heart, and you felt like you couldn't breathe. You replayed the scene over and over in your mind, each time feeling a fresh wave ofhurt and anger. How long had he been seeing this girl behind your back? Had all his talk of gang-related issues been a lie?
As the shock and pain began to subside, you felt a wave of realization wash over you. Your friends had warned you about Ran, telling you that he had a reputation as a player. You had been so blinded by your feelings for him, so eager to believe his excuses, that you didn't want to listen. The bitter realization hit you like a ton of bricks. You suddenly understood why he had been so distance lately, why he had been so secretive about his phone and his whereabouts. You were the side chick, not the main event.
"Asshole.." you whispered. Your hand balling into a angry fist as your knuckles turned white.
As the realization settled in, your anger and hurt began to transform into something else: determination. You couldn't - no, you wouldn't - let Ran get away with treating you like this. A plan started to form in your mind, fueled by your anger and hurt. You knew Ran was a player, and you knew how to hit him where it hurt the most.
The thought of using Rindo to get back at Ran was appealing, and you slowly began to formulate a plan in your mind. You knew Rindo had a bit of a soft spot for you, and you believed that you could easily manipulate his feelings to further your plan.
Ran try to reach out to you to give you a lame ass excuse on to why you seen him with that girl he stepped into his house, feeling frustrated that he hadn't been able to reach you. But as he looked around, he noticed something was off. There were clothes scattered on the floor, leading towards his bedroom.
Confusion and concern washed over him, and he cautiously walked towards his bedroom. As he stepped through the door into his bedroom, his eyes widened. The scene that greeted him was one he had never expected.
There, on HIS bed, was you – with a very naked Rindo and the view of your ass as you ride rindo. You looked back at Ran, your expression smug and challenging as you met his gaze. A smirk played on your lips, clearly enjoying the effect you were having on him. You moan out Rindos name. "Oh fuck rin."
Next to you, Rindo looked a little nervous but he was feeling to good to give a fuck anyways still lounging shamelessly on the bed. You get off of Rindo, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek as a casual farewell. He looked a bit dazed and satisfied but also cautious, unsure what would happen next.
You walk as you grab your heels and stop infront of ran you turned your attention to Ran, your gaze meeting his defiantly. A petty, smug smile tugged at the corners of your lips as you spoke. "Hope you enjoyed the show," you taunted, your voice dripping with sarcasm. "and I guess this whole side chick and side man is fun don't you think?."
Ran's jaw tensed further as you spoke, his anger reaching a boiling point. The sight of you with Rindo, coupled with your petty and mocking words, pushed him dangerously close to the edge of his self-control but had no words to say because he didnt expect her to do that.
You turned away from him, a sense of vindictive satisfaction coursing through your veins. You knew your words had hit a nerve, and judging by the look on Ran's face, they had stung just as you wanted them to.
As you walked away, you could feel Ran's gaze burning into your back, his anger and jealousy palpable in the air but you didnt give two shits.
"See you around haitani." You smirked to yourself as you walked away, feeling a sense of bitter satisfaction. You knew Ran was seething with anger, and the thought brought you a small measure of comfort.
With a final glance back at the mess you had left behind, you continued walking away, leaving Ran with his face dumbfounded..

HER STORY IS INCREDIBLE EVERYONE SIT DOWN AND LEARN FROM THIS QUEEN ⤵️
Kiana Scott, who played minor hockey system for 11 seasons, including four seasons on boys teams, gravitated to scouting from watching her brother’s games and critiquing his strengths and weaknesses.
Unaware of jobs available in hockey, she enrolled in makeup artistry college after high school, but knew her heart was in the sport.
She eventually enrolled in an online hockey general manager scouting course.
Scott joined the International Scouting Service Hockey mentorship program in 2018 and scouted for the service for two years while holding down two jobs.
“I love scouting future prospects, and the evaluation process,” she said. “I think that's kind of where my passion lies. It's just the evaluation process. And it's exciting, building a team.”
Scott spent two seasons as a full-time scout for Erie before she took a bold step and left the organization to move to Calgary and became an independent scout in June 2022.
“I just kept practicing my craft and kind of paid my own way, like, throughout the whole year,” she said. “All of the tickets to every game, all of my travel expenses, everything. I just put all my money into scouting and trying to evolve and then I ended up getting my (Avalanche) internship the next year.”
Scott had some financial help from her family for the move and she supplemented her income by working as a bartender at a Calgary casino, a job with hours that allowed her to scout games.
If all that wasn’t enough, she also enrolled in the University of Florida’s online sports management program.
“I've always had the mindset to just keep betting on myself and working hard and evolving,” she said. “I think I've taken a lot of risks to get to where I am, but I wouldn't try to change the journey for anything.”
Scott said she hopes women, women of color and people who don’t come from a so-called “traditional” hockey background will follow her on the journey.
“I grew up playing hockey, but I didn’t play professional hockey, I didn’t go to college or university for hockey,” she said. “I just had a passion for it. I love scouting. I worked at it, and I continue working at my craft.
“People that don’t necessarily come from the traditional background, I hope they see themselves in me and believe that they can put their minds to it and get it done.”
-----
The 2024 NHL Draft was as eventful for Kiana Scott as it was for the players who were selected in the seven-round event at Sphere in Las Vegas last month.
The 25-year-old Barrie, Ontario, native signed with the Colorado Avalanche at the draft to become a full-time amateur scout, fulfilling a goal she has had since she was a teenager.
“This is something that I've worked really hard for my whole career to be able to sign my first NHL contract,” Scott said. “I was elated. The Avs have been really good for me the past year, and I’m excited to keep building with them.”
Scott joined the Avalanche after working as an intern for the organization.
Colorado general manager Chris MacFarland said he and executive director of hockey operations Suzanne Borchert “were impressed with her work ethic and her passion."
MacFarland said: “Kiana was on our radar when she was scouting in major junior circuits ... and it worked that a few years ago we had an internship opportunity for her.
“She did a good job in that role and was an integral part of our amateur scouting department. We’re excited to see her contributions moving forward in her full-time role as an amateur scout.”
-----
Scott made history when she became the first woman scout in the Ontario Hockey League with Erie in March 2020.
She was among the initial of a wave of women who were hired in recent years as scouts at all levels of hockey, including Cammi Granato (Seattle Kraken), Blake Bolden (Los Angeles Kings), Krissy Wendell-Pohl (Pittsburgh Penguins), Meghan Hunter (Chicago Blackhawks), Gabriella Switaj (Anaheim Ducks) and Brigette Lacquette (Chicago Blackhawks).
Granato moved on from Seattle to become an assistant general manager for the Vancouver Canucks on Feb. 10, 2022, and Hunter was promoted to assistant GM by the Blackhawks on June 22, 2022.
“When I first started scouting, I didn’t know of any women in the industry already,” she said. “Cammi Granato got her job with the NHL a year after I started scouting. That’s when I kind of knew it was possible. But I never had anyone to look up to. I just had this dream and the passion for hockey. I knew that I had to the talent and skill to do it, and to try to keep building on them.
"That’s what I’ve always gone off on -- keep evolving, never give up on what you love.”

Draco Headcanons pt.1
Draco has a surprising knack for housework. With his parents often preoccupied with their work, Draco found himself alone more often than not. During that time, he gravitated toward the house-elves, observing their every move with quiet fascination. Curiosity led him to occasionally join them in their tasks, and over time, he became quite skilled in them, something he kept well hidden.
As a child, Draco was very creative. His imagination knew no bounds, and he expressed it through painting, drawing, dancing, and even acting. Whenever his parents read him stories, he would illustrate the characters and display his drawings proudly in his room. He often roped the weary house-elves into acting out scenes from his favorite books, even designing costumes for the roles from his parents’ wardrobe.
Draco was also interested in sports from an early age, particularly in flying. Despite his parents’ offers to hire the best instructors, he insisted on teaching himself. For a time, he was also fascinated by gymnastics. Unfortunately, a group of older boys mocked him for pursuing what they deemed a "girly" sport, and his enthusiasm was quickly dampened.
Draco’s biggest challenge was his perfectionism. If he wasn’t immediately successful at something, he would often give up in frustration. This trait was evident when his parents signed him up for piano and violin lessons. Though he had the potential to excel, his initial struggles made him want to quit. It was only through his parents’ persistence that he continued practicing, eventually mastering both instruments.
At Hogwarts, Draco was often told that he resembled his father. However, his family and relatives saw that he was more similar to his mother, in both his appearance and mannerisms. His sharp features, the way he held himself, his dramatics and even his subtle gestures were all echoes of his mother.
Draco had a secret crush on Harry Potter throughout their school years, though he would have rather died than admit it. However, as he watched Harry marry Ginny after the war, his feelings began to fade, and he eventually found love with Astoria Greengrass.
Draco was a dramatic child, prone to grand gestures and emotional outbursts. This trait only intensified as he grew older. Whether it was his sharp wit or his tendency to make a scene, Draco’s dramatic nature was a core part of his identity.
Draco has a deep appreciation for drag shows and the artistry involved. He admires the bold fashion, the exaggerated makeup, and the sheer confidence of drag performers. However, despite his admiration, Draco himself prefers to stick to his formal, traditional style and wouldn’t dare to step out in anything less than his meticulously tailored robes.
While Draco doesn’t label himself as a vegetarian, he has a strong preference for plant-based foods.
Contrary to popular belief, Draco’s favorite color isn’t green but a rich, dark purple.
Despite his best efforts, Draco cannot grow a beard. The most he can manage are a few faint whiskers on his upper lip and a sparse scattering of hairs on his chin and jaw. As a result, he maintains a clean-shaven look.
When Draco became a father, he took on most of the childcare responsibilities, partly because Astoria’s health had declined, but mostly because he simply couldn’t bear to be away from Scorpius. The late-night feedings, diaper changes, and sleepless nights were all cherished moments for him. His love for his son was overwhelming, and he wouldn’t trade those precious, messy moments for anything.
Draco is obsessed with taking pictures of Scorpius. Even the smallest, most mundane moments like Scorpius sucking his thumb seem like picture-worthy events to him. He proudly shows off these photos to anyone who will look, beaming with pride at every picture of his son.

Hello! Sorry to bother you.
I noticed you are in JTTW fandom and wanted to ask if you know where can I find more info on Sun Wukong's make up and stage performance? I tried to find stuff on my own but quickly realised that I'm just one small weak goblin. I saw some blogs about chinese opera behind the scenes with SW images and couple of videos but that's about it... and since you look like you are way more knowledgeable I came here to beg a favour.
Do you know any videos, documentaries or blogs on this topic?
Thank you for your time ♥♥♥
Hi!
TLDR: Bold text are writings/videos linked to Peking Opera Culture and specifics surrounding Monkey King performances. Post has a mid-length summary of key aspects of his Peking appearances and core thematics. This mainly goes along visual design analysis, as I don’t focus in performance art as much! Read more divide for courtesy
(Also taking a moment to highly praise @/bonesmarinated ‘s Peking opera Wukong pieces!)
The Monkey King/Sun Wukong is a very well covered and well performed character in Peking Opera, I’ll give a short(ish) summary of the key aspect of his design across various performances based on work I can recall from my Undergrad as well as my own experience- and i’ll link any documents/websites/images I have on hand
Wukong’s Lian Pu falls under what is known the Jing role (complex hero) with similar facial decoration also being delegated to the Chou roles in Opera as well.
The dominant school of art in depicting him either on live performers or maskwear, have a fairly universal foundation for his appearance.
The oldest forms of Peking opera stick to Wuseguan (Five Colour Theory) with his Lian Pu sticking to a core 3 of White (Cunning), Red (Bravery), and Black (Loyalty). Even with Modernisation of the Peking Opera and developments in the science behind art and makeup, Lianpu is specific in its purpose of portraying the nature of a character beyond body language and aiding in accessibility for people at the far end of the audience.
The Monkey King’s Lian Pu is reflective of his mischievous and bold nature, combining it with the shape of an Old World Monkey’s furless face shape so that even those “uneducated” in Peking Opera culture can at least see /what/ Wukong is before they see /who/ he is. The White and red placement are linked to yin-yang dynamics relating to the stone he was born from and the energy it cultivated) as well as general themes beyond the tale itself.
Zheng’s “Evolution, Symbolism, and Artistry: A Study on the Colors of Peking Opera Facial Makeup” Discusses this in more detail. ( DOI: 10.23977/artpl.2023.041207) (ISSN 2523-5877)
(General Mask colours in Peking Opera, separate from Lian Pu: The Cultural Connotation and Symbolic Meaning of Chinese Opera Mask Color - Hanbing Tu)
In more modern designs, the key foundation of Wukong’s face doesn’t change much, however some variations do add colour to Wukong’s eyelids- mainly pink or yellow/gold. Both of these relate physically to the ‘whites’ of Old World Monkey’s eyes, with the yellow face paint being representative of “barbarism” or “savagery”. Gold is used on the faces of various immortal creatures from all backgrounds as Silver is.
(Left: Chu Luhao as Monkey King, stedling divine peaches and wine in celestial realm, Kaohsiung ) (Right: Monkey King Wukong in Beijing Opera Journey to the West at Liyuan Theater)
As with Taiwans branch off in culture, This Lian Pu on the left shows the eyebrows as the top of the eyelid makeup, contrast to Chinese style and other Sino-influenced regions. This works in Chu Luhao’s production as it plays towards the character Wukong is before he’s sealed under the mountain and begun the journey- hence more “wide eyed”.
Mentioning Yellow within the Wuseguan, this is why most of his earlier outfits have such a heavy bias towards yellow cloth, barbarism being represented across his whole body (his form, as a monkey over his soul that achieves enlightenment) with costumes later down his hero’s journey adding more black, blue (simplicity).

A blog site I found interesting was an interview with Yao Yudong, the successor to colourful Peking Opera masks, where he discusses creating the mask designs (with a Wukong mask as a recorded example) and a more in-depth written post. He expresses the key two styles of Wukong’s red markings known as “Upside down Gourd” style, and the less complex “Upside down Peach” style attributed to a different art school. In which his mask is directly attributed to items that come into contact with his face.
Jiao Feng, Peking Opera Facial Makeup: The Art of Face Painting: http://www.chinatoday.com.cn/ctenglish/2018/ich/202001/t20200117_800190202.html
Connected is a video of an Opera performer who does his own Lian Pu, which depending on the time period could take up to two hours. Although this design is significantly more contemporary in the use of gold on white sections as markings like black paint. https://x.com/chinadaily/status/1365730927133958144?s=46&t=06bYiE12l6qVJUxPCBuvvQ
In regards to Wukong’s combat performances, he falls into the role of a Wusheng (武生), which is the strand of stage costume used in representation of his staple armour.
(Monkey King in Journey to the West Performance, Beijing Opera)
In this costume, Wukong’s Phoenix feather cap is mirrored by Lingzi (翎子) or Zhilling (雉翎), which likely play back and forth with influencing eachother as time progresses, due to Wukong’s theatrical personality being heightened by the Pheasant tails and their movements as actors play their roles. In his Wusheng roles, he is more likely to be adorned with gold eyelids to highlight his layered immortality and connect to the golden armour he wears. The trait of biting the pheasant tails as a theatrical act of frustration is seen across adaptations, most recently in Black Myth: Wukong’s Chapter 6 Animation.
This animation’s design seems to relay the Lingzi strongly due to the way the studio details the lowest connection points to the crown ornament.
As stated in Bond’s writings “BEIJING OPERA COSTUMES: THE VISUAL COMMUNICATION OF CHARACTER AND CULTURE”, Wukong’s in-game Suozi Set and various adaptations Dragon Palace armours split similarly to the Kao (Armour) on Peking stages, with the falling of the frantic drastically increasing the size of the actor and his silhouette.
Qing-era flags on the costumes of Wusheng were used to express social standing, gender, nature, and ranking. The image above showcasing them has them match the Kao pattern of the clothing, other flags often held zodiac patterns- with the monkey showcasing vain, egotistical, inventive and tricky individuals; and the peach included in a flag hinting towards immortality.
(Ching Dynasty Year of the Monkey Flag used in the Peking Opera) Zaricore Flag Collection: https://www.flagcollection.com/itemdetails.php?CollectionItem_ID=943
Due to the History of Lian Pu, and Wuseguan, despite modernisation of Opera arts vastly widening the colours and complexity of costumes; Wukong sticks to a key 5 colour scheme, with a emphasis on the original trio of red-white-black, and gold being reserved for Wusheng/Wuxiaosheng to showcase immortality and strength. The prevalence of Opera alongside fictional theatre means that the two constantly play off of eachother in mannerisms and influence, both at the time of JTTW’s writing to the 21st century. But as Opera is a physical performance, all aspects of Peking costume design is meant to make the emotional and psychological aspects of characters physical, to a large audience space needing to see facial expressions heightened and clarified by Lian Pu.

Okay I might be late to this, but I am fixated on the relationship between Sakura and Kotaro in this. We don’t really know much about Kotaro except what’s happening in the series and a few bits they drop here and there. But we know he went to school with Sakura, and was friends with her, or at least knew her and cared about her as his shy teenage self. Then this girl he cares about dies suddenly and tragically. In the years after that he spends time in Hollywood to learn makeup artistry, becomes a proficient songwriter and musician in his own right, learns the ins and outs of music production, and gets this hair-brained idea to bring back a bunch of dead girls to form an idol group to help Saga.
All of the girls he chooses makes sense from a practical standpoint. Ai, Junko, Yugiri, and Lily are all skilled musicians and entertainers, the first to actually having been idols. Saki is a born leader and takes care of her crew. Tae is skilled at dealing with curses and will be instrumental in fighting the curse that plagues Saga (whenever she wakes up). Sakura is the odd one out. She has no real skills or legend behind her, just a dream. For most of the first season you’re stuck wondering why she was chosen.
Until it hits. Kotaro loved her, and it plagued him that this young upbeat girl with a dream in her heart died before she got a chance to realize that dream. He brought her back because he loved her and believed in her, and wanted more than anything to give her the chance to shine that she missed out on in life. He brought her back not because she could be useful for his plan, but because she was Sakura, his lost friend. I don’t know if that’s anything, but damn it’s making me tear up.
Anyway I’m totally normal about this show and the characters.

5 Important Makeup Brushes Every Makeup Artist Should Carry in Their Kit
As a professional makeup artist, having the right tools is just as important as having the right products. Your makeup brushes are the foundation of a flawless look, and whether you're working on a bride, a model, or creating editorial looks, having the right set of brushes can make all the difference. With so many brushes on the market, it can be overwhelming to know which ones are essential for your kit. Here's a guide to the top 5 makeup brushes that every makeup artist should carry, with expert recommendations from Jawed Habib Academy, Laxmi Nagar Delhi (9266610366).
1. Foundation Brush A foundation brush is an essential tool in any makeup kit. It can be a flat, dense brush or a pointed brush, both of which help apply liquid or cream foundation smoothly for an even and flawless finish. This allows you to blend the foundation evenly into the skin, creating a perfect canvas for the rest of your makeup. It is important to use a brush made of synthetic fibers, as they work better with liquid products and offer better precision.
2. Powder Brush After applying foundation, it is essential to set it with a good setting powder for long-lasting wear. A large fluffy powder brush is ideal for evenly applying powder or bronzer. The soft bristles help the product spread smoothly across the face, without disrupting the base makeup. Opt for a high-quality powder brush with soft bristles to achieve a light and natural look.
3. Blending Eyeshadow Brush A blending brush is crucial for eye makeup. This soft, tapered brush allows for easy blending of color on the crease and lid, creating a professional and diffused look. It can be used with both matte and shimmer shades, making it a versatile tool for any makeup artist. Whether you're going for a soft smoky eye or a bold crease, a blending brush will provide a smooth transition between colors.
4. Angled Brow or Eyeliner Brush An angled eyebrow brush is an essential tool for creating sharp lines with precision. It is perfect for filling in brows with powder or pomade as well as creating precise winged eyeliner with gel or cream products. This brush allows for controlled and neat application, ensuring that brows and eyeliner are always well aligned.
5. Blush/Contour Brush A blush or contour brush is essential for adding definition and warmth to the face. This medium-sized, angled or rounded brush is perfect for precise application of blush, contour, or highlight. It helps sculpt and define the face, giving it dimension and a healthy glow. To achieve the best results, choose a soft but dense brush that can pick up and blend pigmented powders without leaving streaks.

Shui Long Yin 《水龙吟》 - What we know so far about this massive project
By now many of you have heard about Shui Long Yin 《水龙吟》, Luo Yunxi's upcoming and third project with the studio behind Till the End of the Moon. Here's my read on the announcement earlier.
1. Good news - It's going to be largely the same creative team behind TTEOTM.
You have Wang Yirong as Lead Producer & Artistic Director, Huang Wei as Costume Designer, Wang Haiqi as Action Director, Tsang Mingfai as Makeup Director, Huatian for World Concept (also known for Ashes of Love and the Untamed). Basically, we'll see the return of the brilliant minds behind the Dunhuang-inspired costumes and hour-long epic fight sequences.
It's a good sign they're holding most of the team together. A lot of great directors, like Christopher Nolan, Tim Burton, David Cronenberg, work with the same creative talent over and over again. There's certainly an argument that you produce better work when you collaborate with people you trust and know well.
2. Up and coming Director Chen Zhoufei will make up some of the deficiencies of TTEOTM in the cinematography and lighting departments.
Chen Zhoufei started out as a cinematographer in films with the likes of Chen Kaige and Zhang Yimou. More recently he directed The Forbidden Flower (2023) and Double Tap (2021), which, if nothing else, is beautifully and stylistically shot.
It's interesting they've moved away from the old school Hong Kong directors they used in Immortality and TTEOTM. Directors from the TVB system are known to be more experienced, scrappy, and reliable when it comes to working within budget (which is why they're favored for big xianxia productions), but they've also been criticized for falling behind on technical execution and artistry.
It is as the industry article I shared predicted - Otters Studio is a relatively inexperienced player, but they can quickly close their gaps by bringing new blood to the team.
3. They're bringing a new Art Director, Zheng Chen from Lost You Forever.
This isn't all that surprising given that Luan Hexin, TTEOTM's Art Director, is with Huanyu, Bai Lu's management company. (In fact there was a bit of real life drama when Yu Zheng, Bai Lu's boss, publicly called out TTEOTM's producer for not refuting false rumors that Bai Lu was only cast because the production wanted Luan Hexin, arguably Huanyu's biggest asset, as part of her "dowry".) Now it's sad to see award-winning Luan go, but he is best for authentic period sets and IMO not the most suited for xianxias.
Instead, they've tapped Zheng Chen, who most recently worked on Lost You Forever, which I have yet to watch. With that said, some of the sets look great to me, with bold use of colors, and I can already see this pairing well with Chen Zhoufei's aesthetics.
4. This time they're not working with screenwriter He Fang, instead going with Lin Conghe (unofficial)
He Fang is the lead screenwriter behind TTEOTM and Immortality (everyone who's read Immortality's screenplay will know it's all but a guaranteed hit) and in my opinion one of Otter's greatest assets. She's brilliant at staying loyal to the spiritual core of source novels, while weaving convoluted plot points through a more robust background story and logic.
It's a slight disappointment that she won't be back, but it's also not entirely surprising. TTEOTM and Immortality are both big, female-oriented fantasy romance IPs. Meanwhile Shui Long Yin's IP is quite dated, lesser known, and incomplete, so I'd expect that the drama will only be loosely based on the original. While we don't know much about Lin Conghe, he did recently work on the Blood of Youth sequel, where he was the lead screenwriter alongside author Zhou Munan, so he might actually be a better choice for this genre (xuanhuan wuxia).
5. The way HunanTV & Mango announced the drama is unusually high profile, indicating that this is one of the platform's biggest projects.
It's rare to have one of China's biggest hosts announce a new drama that hasn't even started shooting or released any details yet live on prime time TV. (Usually a drama's official announcement comes out on the day of its booting ceremony, if not during its production or at its wrap ceremony.) It's even rarer for a costume drama to announce a TV platform at this stage. These days it's quite difficult for costume fantasies to get a coveted TV airing slot given genre restrictions and additional censorship requirements. Typically you do not find out officially whether it will air on TV until literally right before it airs.
Before the official announcement, rumors have already been circulating that there's a bidding war behind the scenes for this project, with Mango and its parent HunanTV outbidding Youku in the end. Mango/HunanTV is already the market leader in variety shows, but is behind the other three platforms in scripted content. Apparently, they've recently received an injection of funding to shore up their drama department and now investing in tentpole projects that can help them gain share. Clearly they saw what TTEOTM did for Youku.
6. There's another interesting player in the mix: China Mobile and its subsidiary Migu.
It appears that China Mobile (one of the most valuable companies in China and a state-owned enterprise) has invested in the drama, which will be made available on its online video platforms. Apparently, the last time China Mobile invested in a drama, they sent text messages to every user to publicize it when it aired. Now not sure if this will happen (it's not patriotic drama after all), but they've already been promoting the drama through their gazillion affiliate social media accounts. Either way, it should be a good thing for the drama's distribution to have such an influential backer given Mango's lower daily active user.
7. They're making it super clear that Luo Yunxi is going to be the dominant male lead in this drama
In the first Weibo post, they only announced the title, Luo Yunxi, and the airing platforms. In the second Weibo post, where they announced the rest of the creative team, they still did not announce the other actors! Of course, this is likely because Luo Yunxi's company (which is really just him) bought the source novel's IP and is credited as a co-producer. (They don’t have any production capabilities at all, so Otter will likely be quarterbacking this.)
This suggests, like many who have read the novel already know, that Luo Yunxi will have by far the biggest part. The other roles, including the female lead role, will likely be smaller and revolve around the main character.
8. Shui Long Yin is already generating a lot of hype.
To date its Weibo announcement racked up >1M likes (more than double that of TTEOTM). There's already a very active Douban group debating all the rumors, most importantly whether Luo Yunxi will use a wig or his real hair (a highly divisive topic). The new drama has even been reported by China Daily, China's state media facing the international community, which is again exceedingly rare. China Daily doesn't usually report on entertainment news, and most hit shows don't get mentioned even after airing.
There's always a big risk with productions with this much anticipation so early in the process, from fan wars and disruptive stalking on set to accusations propagated by competitors that can invite more state scrutiny. Fingers crossed that the team knows what they're doing and can weather all the storms that will undoubtedly come its way.
9. Finally, I remain cautiously excited.
Production quality will likely be great, with such a strong creative team and financial backers with deep wallets. My main worry is that it'll be beautiful, but boring. For this genre (xuanhuan wuxia or basically wuxia with high fantasy elements), it's really important that the story moves fast and the underdog hero keeps outsmarting or outfighting everyone else in a way that gives viewers a sense of exhilaration. It'd be all too easy for the story to get bogged down by a large cast of unmemorable characters and a meandering plot. Otters Studio is usually great at delivering fast-paced high drama (just based on TTEOTM and the screenplay of Immortality), but they're working with a different screenwriter this time and it's not easy to be a consistent hit maker. Let's hope they stick to their intuition and continue to present stories and characters that excite viewers.
