idk i think hes just curious when she proposes it. not exactly concerned—def a bit Overly Confident for a 22 yr old apprentice-turned-rookie potentially going up against an emperor PFFT—but again just like. amused by the situation. and w a piqued interest when he meets me, similarly to selfship canon ig!!!! i think im more timid n less self-assured in this scenario (a combo of being five yrs younger, raised by big mom, and generally the situation being entirely different) and honestly give off the vibe of being a bit uncomfortable around him. i think hes actually rlly put off by the idea of big mom forcing her daughter to marry a pirate even tho im clearly not cool w it; ofc hes not like. surprised i think he knows big mom p well but it Rlly rubs him the wrong way. suddenly hes not so amused anymore.

shanks is a serial princess rescuer in canon, even fifteen yrs earlier i think he's got those instincts already so there's a bit of a white knight instinct that i end up triggering in him. n when we finally get a moment alone (which in my head is a lil nighttime walk back to my room very romantic) he rlly does ask for my feelings and possibly straight-up offer to help me leave n it. pisses me off LMFAOOOOO i might even slap him in the face perhaps just for the audacity of it all bc like bro what!!!! whats the plan here u just wanna piss off an emperor for shits n giggles n a pretty face??? i think i reveal the eye here too, which is ofc considered an Ugly Feature in one piece canon so im intending to shock him out of whatever insanity has overcome him but also is smthn shanks absolutely understands the implications of..........

I think he does manage to convince me to run off w him before the wedding…….. he’s Very Persistent abt it n by the third or fourth time I’m convinced he has ulterior motives but as it encroaches I kinda come to the conclusion that if I refuse I’ll end up married to him anyway so perhaps better to keep my options open??? So we sneak off the night before w. Largely not a ton of pushback. Maybe shanks has a lil spat w katakuri that’d be fun 🫣 in my head this would be before tottoland is established so it’s a matter of sneaking off the queen mama chanter not. Omg was gonna yap abt this last night but. In Shuvi canon I wear my hair long and braided in like v practical updoes during my lighthouse keeper days. Shanks is a bit obsessed w it bc I rarely let it down and so seeing that makes him feel all mushy and domestic…….

When I sail off w the red-haired pirates I end up making Hongo chop it all off bc it’s too much to maintain in my poor mental state (shanks is Inconsolable when it happens but puts on a brave face to not freak me out). Once I start coming out of that I go through a few diff haircuts before settling on a fluffy layered bob kinda thing that Lucky Roux learns how to cut for me 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

He’s Soooooo loverboy n loves kissing So Much I don’t think he’s picky at all but he def has a few common focuses……….

V much a hand kisser 🥺 I’ve talked abt this but he loves to play up a chivalrous act so. And in a similar vein has this thing where he’ll hold a lock of my hair and kiss it like some lovestruck knight 🫠 smthn he only does more often once I chop off all my hair and he has to get So Close………

All that said tho truthfully I think if he Absolutely Had To Pick One Place Forever he’d pick my lips. I think shanks actually falls into the trap of being kinda unused to nonsexual (but explicitly romantic) intimacy,,,,,,, like he’s very touchy w his crew but that’s obviously platonic. In my selfship he and mihawk were a Thing but almost all of the contact between them was Under Pretense Of A Duel so not exactly soft and tender. He has flings often and is very much a sucker for after sex cuddling but that’s obvi got a certain connotation. If he rlly thought it through he’d probably come to the realization that the last time he had real nonsexual skinship w a partner was buggy. Twenty years ago. On the Oro Jackson. Damn.

Anyway. This is actually a bit insane but the first time we cuddle is before we “get together” ig. The first two years after we meet I resolutely refuse his flirtations, but he does steadily wear me down and by the time I do give in he’s very touchy. So it’s probably a couple of months before that??? And it’s actually. Outside my door LMFAOOOOOO

At this point he spends nights on the island either at the bar or on my couch, but I’m a bit stern about not letting him in when he’s too drunk, so half the time he ends up sleeping on my front stoop bc he had one drink too many and I know if I give a drunkard an inch he’ll take a mile yk. So it’s one of those situations, but on this occasion I have to get up in the middle of the night and refuel the light…….. and when I’m done w that as I’m making my way back I kinda. Take pity on him.

He is largely sober when I nudge him awake bc it’s been hours and he’s slept off most of the booze, but he’s also tipsy enough to whine (well, he’d do that anyway) and beg for me to let him in when I tell him to go back to his ship LOL and idk…….. it’s cute……… we’re headed into summer on my island so it’s a pleasant night and the moon’s full so I end up settling w him draped over my lap, absently stroking his hair as we chatter a bit. And I do let him in after an hour or so, we’re just both tired enough that he passes out on my couch and I don’t think much abt it as I head to my bedroom…….. and then I am Very embarrassed in the morning but he’s surprisingly not smug about it, just a bit overly chipper.
