✧ the elle woods study method: mindset makeover & foundation building ✧
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hey lovelies! 💗
omg, i'm literally bursting with excitement to start this transformative series with you all! we're going to dive deep into actually studying like elle woods, and all her study methods. it's going to change your academic life. (while keeping you fabulous, obviously!)
let's start with the most crucial element - the elle woods mindset. you know how elle went from being underestimated at harvard to graduating with honors? that transformation began in her mind, and that's exactly where we're starting too!
the core principles of the elle woods mindset (get ready to take notes!):
unwavering self-belief: elle's iconic "what, like it's hard?" attitude wasn't just cute - it was crucial
authenticity as your superpower: your unique perspective is your strength
resilience through positivity: turning every "you can't" into "watch me"
strategic determination: working smarter, not just harder
maintaining your essence: success shouldn't mean losing yourself
let me break down how to actually build this mindset (because theory without practice is like a perfect outfit without accessories - incomplete!):
mindset foundation building: • start a daily confidence journal (pink, obviously!) • write three daily affirmations • document your wins, no matter how small • reflect on challenges and how you overcame them
goal setting the elle way: • dream big (harvard law big!) • break down major goals into mini-milestones • create realistic timelines • identify potential obstacles and plan solutions • celebrate every achievement (even the tiny ones!)
your personal success toolkit: • a dedicated study planner (color-coded, elle would approve) • positive affirmation cards • vision board (mix academic and personal goals) • progress tracking system • reward system for reaching milestones
practical assignments for this week:
yes, i'm giving you all homework, because what's a lesson without doing homework? <3
mindset makeover tasks: • create your confidence corner (a designated study space that makes you feel powerful) • write your personal academic manifesto • identify and challenge three limiting beliefs • create a morning power routine
organization prep: • get your study essentials (cute but functional!) • set up your planning system • create a semester overview • design your ideal weekly schedule
community building: • find your study buddies (your personal warner hunting club, but for academics!) • join study groups • set up accountability partnerships • create a support system
elle's journey wasn't about memorizing legal terms - it was about believing she belonged in those hallowed halls while wearing her signature pink. you deserve to feel that same confidence in your academic journey. <3
advanced tips for the overachievers (because why not be extra?):
record yourself giving pep talks for tough days
create a study aesthetic that energizes you
develop personal success rituals
build a playlist that makes you feel powerful
photograph your progress for motivation
coming up in this series:
time management secrets
memory techniques that actually work
note-taking methods that slay
exam preparation strategies
self-care routines for academic success
group study dynamics
presentation skills
stress management
celebration strategies
and more of course <3
remember: elle woods didn't just survive harvard - she thrived while being unapologetically herself. that's our goal too! you're not just going to study better; you're going to build an academic approach that celebrates who you are.
homework time (but make it fun):
create your academic vision board
write your semester goals
design your ideal study schedule
set up your success tracking system
prepare your study space
xoxo, mindy
p.s. don't forget to reblog and follow for the complete series! we're building our own little academic sorority here! <3

note to self: some small ways to break the monotony without derailing: Step outside for 5 minutes, even if it’s just to breathe different air.Listen to a song that makes you feel something—maybe nostalgia, maybe energy. Drink something really good, like a fancy tea or coffee, and actually savor it. Read or watch something completely unrelated to your research before bed—your brain needs contrast. If you can, take a 10-minute walk with a podcast or just silence to clear your head. Treat yourself when you hit a milestone (even if it’s just “I wrote 200 words”).

how to deal with stage fright ✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
a non-basic comprehensive guide, by an easily-scared girlie
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. Before
don't eat too much. I get very scared and nervous before I have to do anything in front of a group of more than 3 people. I mean very scared. As in my stomach starts hurting. if you're like me, then eating a bit lighter beforehand can save you the stress when you stomach starts hurting (and the stress making you feel worse)
manifest success. close your eyes. imagine yourself finishing the thing that you've been so worried about. envision yourself doing the greatest job, and it will happen.
say "i'm excited". our brains are more powerful than you think (ha! get it? okay, that was lame). since fear/anxiety and excitement feel very similar, try to gaslight yourself into thinking that you're just very excited to do it.
2. During
set your mindset (again). before I perform, I try to remind myself the beginning of whatever I'm doing. for example, if I'm playing a piece, I will hum the first few measures, just so I remember. or the first few words of my speech. once you start, your body will know what to do!
pretend to slay. you know what? even if you mess up, nobody knows! nobody know the piece you're playing, or the song you're singing, or the speech you're giving. keep your head high and pretend that you've completely outdone yourself. once you believe that about yourself, other people will often follow.
stay in the moment. if you're anything like me, you may tend to think to the past or the future while you're performing. something like this: future: I'm going to mess up and say something totally embarrassing. past: last time I gave this speech in front of my Mom and I freaked out and forgot this part! future: you're going to forget it again. and that will be totally humiliating! instead, just keep telling yourself to stay where you are, in the present! you're just playing your song at the moment. you're just talking to other people at the moment. you're just sharing what you've learned. the past has gone by, and the future has its own worries.
3. After
don't freak out. what's done is done.
congratulate yourself. you did it! the hardest part of the process is over. you did an amazing job. showing up is enough. performing is enough. doing anything at all is enough, if not more than enough. you're a winner because you did it.
⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。
a reminder to all the lovely people on the internet: it's completely normal to be scared. even my favorite pianist for many years, yuja wang, gets terrible stage fright before she performs. now, though, you'll be equipped with some tips on how to perform despite the fears that you have. I'm going to end off this post with one of my favorite quotes:
True courage is in facing danger when you are afraid.
-- L. Frank Baum, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
thank you for reading all the way through, and wishing you a blessed rest of your day <3
sincerely yours, q's playlist

Update
Today was my last highschool exam that was in my school. With this, it's straight up finals in March (in another school) and I just have to say... I literally feel so damn happy. Like, everyone was getting so emotional and I was like "Yaaayyy" but literally, it's really cool. I don't know how I survived the past 2 months, from January, we had around 18 exams plus 2 practicals and my brain is fried.
I had no time to even log in here, with revision and exams and studying (and reading Onyx Storm) so yes, no time. But I have around 2 weeks for my finals to start and officially, it's the last month of high school and damn I am happy.
I've been getting some anxiety about finals but I'm trying to be calm, like seriously... I'm also kinda worried about fasting and studying together but I guess I'll manage.
So yeah, how have you guys been?

Honestly, the biggest thing for me when I get that "I can go no further" feeling while studying Japanese is to change things up.
Studying can be overwhelming, especially if you have a lot of other things on your plate (or the world is in turmoil). And sometimes if you skip studying for a few days, a week, a month, a year... it can be hard to get back into that old study rhythm, or to know where to pick back up.
So, I try changing things up.
📚 Pick up a textbook that makes you feel good (I still have my textbooks from when I took Japanese in undergrad and they remind me of a time where I really enjoyed studying).
📚 Read a manga in Japanese that you have read before that you liked (and bring back the nostalgia of a story you really enjoyed).
📺 Watch a drama/anime/talk show that you like or have wanted to watch (this works best with no English subtitles so you can see how much you understand).
📱 Search for a subject you are interested in, in Japanese (and try to read some websites about them - add こどもむけ [for kids] to your search if the first results are too high level).
📱 Try reading some news articles in Japanese (either try NHK News Web Easy or the regular news, depending on your level).
🎧 Listen to a podcast made for Japanese learners.
Let's Talk in Japanese!
日本語の会話のpodcast -ことのは-
Nihongo con Teppei (Beginners)
Nihongo con Teppei Z (Intermediate)
Bite Size Japanese
Nihongo Picnic
YUYUの日本語
For me, studying isn't only about drilling grammar and kanji and vocabulary. It's about doing something you enjoy with the language you are learning, and making learning fun. Start with small steps, and once you feel that spark again, keep going!
Hope this helps!
How do you guys keep studying when you feel like you've hit a wall? I got distracted for a couple days from my Japanese studies both because of world events and because of video games and now I'm struggling to get that spark back ;-;
Any help and advice is appreciated!
I'm also looking for a sort of study buddy/accountability friend who can help me (and get help from me in return) keep to my studies instead of letting myself slip like this again!
Requirements
18-30 age range (I'm an adult and I would prefer to study with someone who is as well)
Learning a new language
Willing to talk over either tumblr IM or discord messages
Calls are likely not to happen as I share a room/workspace with someone else in my house.

a big lesson for me was learning that most things are not as fragile as I’d believed. missing a class, or turning in a bad assignment, won’t instantly destroy your professor’s opinion of you. accidentally saying something harsh won’t make your friend want to end the friendship. it takes work to repair these things - it takes effort and research and sometimes a sincere apology - but you can do that because they’re not irreparably broken. what you’ve worked to build, in academia and in relationships and in life, is stronger and more enduring that your mind may teach you to believe. don’t let imagined fragility lead you to giving up

gentle reminder you can rise up from everything. you can recreate yourself. nothing is permanent. you are not stuck. you have choices. you can think new thoughts. you can learn something new. you can create new habits. all that matters is that you decide today and never look back.

40 Tips For Becoming More Disciplined 📌💡🚀📝
Know what you want to achieve soon and in the future. This helps you know where to go and stay motivated.
Do the most important things first to save time and energy.
Have a daily plan that includes work, rest, exercise, and learning.
Make big tasks smaller so they're not scary, and you can see progress.
Use methods like the Pomodoro Technique (working for a while, then resting) or blocking time to get more done.
Notice when you're avoiding work and make yourself start.
Control yourself from getting distracted or doing things just for fun.
Say no politely when you can't do more things without getting stressed.
Stay healthy by eating well, exercising, and sleeping enough.
Keep learning by reading, taking classes, or trying new things.
Check how you're doing with your goals and change plans if needed.
Tell a friend or mentor your goals so they can help you stay on track.
Keep your spaces tidy to help you focus better.
Learning discipline takes time, and it's okay if things don't go perfectly.
Think good thoughts about yourself instead of bad ones.
Imagine doing well to get motivated.
Mistakes are chances to learn, not reasons to give up.
Be happy about even small successes to stay positive.
Listen to advice from others to get better.
Be ready to change your plans but keep your main goals.
Try mindfulness to concentrate, be calm, and know yourself better.
Write about your progress and plans in a journal.
Turn off things like social media when you work or study.
Think about things you're thankful for to stay happy.
Do quick tasks right away instead of waiting.
Spend time with people who help you and make you want to be better.
Let others do tasks that you don't need to do, so you can focus.
Get better at handling problems without giving up.
Picture doing well to stay motivated.
Drink water to think clearly and stay healthy.
Have a special place to work or study to help you focus.
Wait for bigger rewards instead of quick ones.
Keep things simple, both around you and in your mind, so you can concentrate.
Listen to advice without feeling bad about yourself.
Use apps and tools to manage your tasks and time.
Reading helps you learn and think better.
Decide what's good enough for you and stick to it.
Believe you can get smarter and better with practice.
Do creative things to stay imaginative and interested.
Listen carefully to others to be better at talking and understanding.
