Summary:

The one where Yu Ziyuan time traveled but she thought that it was her visions of her alternate life.

She learned that there is a brat named Wei Ying who brought destruction to her and her family's life.

And so in her present, she vowed that she will never allow that to happen.

 

In which Yu Ziyuan found the four-year-old Wei Ying, newly pushed out of the inn where his parents left him, and decided that no, this child must never be associated with her, her family, and their sect at all.

And so Yu Ziyuan thought that she could bring him somewhere where someone may or may not find him but definitely far from where her husband could find him. If he's lucky, he'll survive that winter, if he's not, then death awaits the fevered child.

This is the extent of mercy that Yu Ziyuan could give a child.

With this, she'll raise her children without having to deal with a brat that brings trouble where he goes according to her visions of her alternate life.

Like the tag stated, this is definitely not Yu Ziyuan centric.

He could imagine Wei Changze shaking his head. He could imagine Cangse Sanren’s disapproving gaze. No parent would want to see their child suffer this way. He listened to the title given to Wei Wuxian and he felt how it did not fit the real Wei Wuxian. Yiling Patriarch. Lan Qiren shook his head. As much as it implies great power, Lan Qiren knew it was spoken out of spite most of the time. He watched Wei Wuxian meet Jiang Yanli in her wedding dress. He hated how he expected something more… especially with how Jiang Yanli was supposed to be the best sister in the world according to Wei Wuxian… and yet nothing happened. They went back to the Burial Mounds with a clarity bell and a bowl of soup. ~~

Lan Qiren could only shut his eyes. He failed… he failed this Wei Wuxian. As Wei Changze and Cangse Sanren’s friend, as his teacher, as an elder… Lan Qiren failed. He watched his nephew try to stop Wei Wuxian from falling. He watched how Jiang Wanyin stabbed the rock. He watched how Wei Wuxian let go. He listened to how his nephew screamed his name while Wei Wuxian had a resigned expression on his face. ~~

This was Wei Wuxian’s second life and his nephew has promised himself to stand by his side whatever happened. The more that he sees Lan Sizhui and his similarities with his nephews as well as his closeness with Wangji… Lan Qiren felt a tug in his heart. Does Wei Wuxian realize it as well or is it just him? When he learned the young disciple's courtesy name… he immediately confirmed his thoughts. Who – who made it possible? He was just a child who turned three at that time. The answer is obvious to him though. His nephew could have held onto the only living person associated with Wei Wuxian who loves and values him as much as Lan Wangji does… his husband in the eyes of Gusu-Lan Sect no matter what their age was during the wedding. Lan Qiren’s brows furrowed when Wei Wuxian left Gusu. He almost tried to tug his robes to stop him from leaving after he parted ways with his nephew who was now the Chief Cultivator on top of the mountain. Why? Wangji did not even tell him that they were married! Qiren almost stomped his feet if he was not floating. They have waited and pinned long enough! Why are they parting?! Lan Qiren cannot imagine his life with someone as what his nephew and Wei Wuxian had. The true love and devotion remind Qiren of his brother and sister-in-law who fell in love but were put in such a situation that caused their current situation. ~~

As she swallowed hard, feeling pain on her palm with how tight she was gripping her fists, Yu Ziyuan saw the face of the brat in his Gusu-Lan robes with the main clan’s ribbon on his forehead.  Lan Qiren’s prized ward. Third Jade of Lan. Fourth among the Young Masters. And just recently, earned his title together with Lan Wangji. The light bearer and his light source. Hanguangjun and Guangyuanjun. Him?! The light source? Guangyuanjun ?! How could a brat become a light source?! He is a brat! A son of a servant and he does not deserve to receive any titles! Yu Ziyuan could feel blood dripping to the ground from her palms. She recalled the words in the letter she just read. Betrothal… which means… in the future, he will be leading the Lan Sect with Lan Wangji once Qinghengjun abdicates the position. ~~ karama is bitch 😉😉

Summary: A night-hunt goes wrong, and Wei Wuxian is scapegoated for the death of the Jiang Sect Leader and the destroyed core of the Jiang Sect Heir. As punishment, his core is taken and given to Jiang Cheng, and he is stripped of his cultivation credentials and expelled from the sect. What everyone forgot was that Wei Wuxian was wearing the standard issue body camera that each cultivator wore on training missions and high-risk night-hunts. Struggling to make ends meet, Wei Wuxian finds his way to Caiyi Town with the doctor who performed the surgery, a partial core still secretly in place. His application to work at Cloud Recesses is summarily rejected by the hard-edged Second Jade of Lan after an unfortunate initial encounter. But things change when someone hacks into the Jiang systems and releases the footage of what happened. Kay's comments: The series is still a WIP, but the main story is complete! I am so weak for Kizu's modern AUs with cultivation, they are great. Especially the world building and how the cultivation society might function in a modern AU shines in this story. Definitely not a story for fans of the Jiang family, but a story for everyone who wants to see some retribution for the things Wei Wuxian went through. Here, Jiang Fengmian dies during a night-hunt accident where Jiang Cheng's golden core gets destroyed and Madam Yu makes Wei Wuxian give his golden core to him, unfortunately for her, his body-cam is still filming everything. Wei Wuxian finds himself taken in by Wen Qing and her family and we get the sweetest found family and Dadxian vibes here and then meets Lan Wangji as well, who's highly judgemental at first but soon finds himself drawn to Wei Wuxian as well. This story really got it all, the drama, the horny, the softness, the restitution & humor. Excerpt: Still Wei Wuxian forced himself to at least try one last time. “You could also interview me. Have me talk to your best talisman experts,” Wei Wuxian said, forcing himself to keep the desperation out of his voice. “Interviews are scheduled based on receipt of proper credentials and references.” “I don’t have any, at least not right now. But that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t be a great teacher.” “No references, no interview.” “Come on. Look, ask me anything about talismans. You’re an experienced cultivator, right? So you must know enough to at least interview me to see if I know what I’m talking about.” “Simply ‘knowing about something’ is not sufficient. Our lecturers are renown cultivators, and masters in their fields. No references, no interview.” Wei Wuxian felt frustration well up in him, especially at the reminder that Lan Wangji didn’t see him as a cultivator. No one would, in his current condition. Because it would be impossible for someone who wasn’t born to the fucking clan nobility to ever actually be good at something, and the cost of taking the mastery test makes sure that other people can’t do it!” Lan Wangji’s lips parted slightly, like he might say something, but his expression was as opaque and emotionless as before. Wei Wuxian didn’t need to sit around and listen to him defend the clan system. “Good to know that the Lan are just the same as all the other sects,” Wei Wuxian continued, his lips twisting into a sarcastic smile. “Thanks for making that clear.”

Wwx is travelling by himself, writing letters to LZ, he stays in a town and it ends up cursed. LZ and the juniors arrive to solve the case. Wwx is acting weird and hides his letters. The juniors read the letters and find out wwx is angry and full of resentment about how he's been treated. They find out the curse resonates from him. They talk it out to resolve matters. 2. Hi! This is for Fic Finder. All I remember is the ending, where Yu Ziyuan had her arms cut off, and that there was a part that mentioned that this was punishment enough as she would have to live her life with no pride. Also, she had an affair with Jin Guangshan, and Jiang Cheng was his child, and she had to become his concubine, I think. Hope someone knows which fic this is!

The healers weren’t sure if Wwx would survive. He does.

A few details I remember was that the coloured mark that indicated Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian's relationship started to fade, and that Jiang Cheng was allowed home to celebrate his birthday, while Wei Wuxian's was completely ignored by the Jiang Sect and so he spent it drinking and was caught by Lan Wangji. Because when wwx was pregnant he slowly grew ill or I dunno I think there was some complications (?) and when it was finally the time of delivery, wwx fell into coma I think. I remember 18, though I can't find it either. The sickness/curse in question made people burn from the inside; it was contagious from breathing in the ashes of the people dying. There was a honestly touching scene with Wen Chao dying while Wen Ning kept him company. Wen Qing assassinated WRH because she was treating him for the illness, for which they'd finally found the cure, and he announced that he therefore would use it as a weapon against the other sects, by deliberately infecting them and holding the cure hostage. The only ones they'd allow to have the cure are the Lans, because they're the only ones who came to help. He also intended to marry WQ, as he'd lost both his sons and needed new ones. I think it might have been part of a series, with the first part showing how WangXian got together.

What is below the cut line is a (very long) list of my headcanons for The Jiang Sect.

FOREWARNING! Jiang Cheng is my favorite character, although I do not bash Wei Ying. JC is going to have the most, simply because he is the one I think of the most. If this is to be a problem for you, please stop reading here! Thank you!

Jiang Sect

With the weather of Lotus Pier, people who live there are known to have really curled hair. (Wei Wuxian never felt the need to curl his hair to look more “Jiang” since he never believed himself to be part of the main family truly)

Since Lotus Pier (and YunmengJiang as a whole) get the most direct sunlight out of all the main sects, the people that live there have very sunkissed skin—they are considered the second darkest skin tone of the main sects. (the Wen are first)

MeishanYu has a tradition of inking dark lines or dots on the skin of a person for every year they have lived or every achievement they have acquired. Yu Ziyuan took that tradition with her and implemented it on her children (she had offered to do the same with Wei Wuxian at the very beginning of his living with them, but he declined). (Jiang Cheng continues the tradition in YunmengJiang after the fire, himself having the most ink on him) [Credit of idea goes to @auberginesvrn on Twitter]

YunmengJiang likes to hold monthly swimming competitions (it happens all year round since the temperature rarely drops below 50 degrees Fahrenheit) and the winner of each one gets an “honorary” dot inked to add to their collection (should they want it, although most winners get one since that’s the main reason they join).

YunmenJiang's outfits are typically light purple and white for the summers so they don't absorb too much heat from the sun and are thinner in material, and during the winter they are a slightly darker purple (with white) and thicker material.

Zidian

Zidian is a sentient spiritual weapon and has a rare ability to give some of its own spiritual energy to its holder should it believe that they are worthy. 

There have been theories that if needed and the cultivator is deemed worthy enough, a strong spiritual weapon could take the place of a golden core. (But, there have been no successful attempts made—yet)

Zidian is able to take multiple different forms in order to fit its wielder to the best of its ability. For its previous “masters” (wielders) it took the forms of a lance, javelin (weirdly enough), a ceremonial dagger, and a gauntlet; all had the ability to conduct Zidian’s purple lightning through them.

Yu Ziyuan had a whip form, and Jiang Cheng is able to form either a whip or a bow and arrow should it be a desperate situation (the second form has only ever been needed once, and the people who were there never lived to tell the tale, so no one alive knows of his second form for Zidian)

(The bow and arrow form is a lot like Yoichi’s demon bow and arrow from ONS)

Zidian also has a special ability that is rarely shown (even to its holders); its ability to turn into a snake. Only one other holder was able to do it before Jiang Cheng, and it was the first one.

Jiang Cheng is the first to learn of Zidian’s soul-carrying ability since he was the only one to die and then come back to life (given that it was in his younger body, but whatever). This ability allows the holder to hear/see (depending on how powerful the user is) the souls that Zidian has taken the lives of (from the orders of the current holder).

Once a holder has access to this, they are able to hear Zidian talk to them.

Fun fact: Jiang Cheng is Zidian’s favorite of their holders!

Jiang Cheng

When he was younger, he used to have his hair down all of the time, but the older he got into his teenage years, the more he was teased by WY and was called “Meimei” (He was also one of the most attractive cultivators in LP (without him knowing, somehow???)), so he started to put it up into a ponytail. Then, it only got worse, so he started putting it in a bun, which is more intricate than in the donghua. People thought it made him look even prettier, but decided not to say anything about it for fear he would change it again. Jiang Cheng thought he succeeded in looking more “manly” (he was sorely mistaken lol). (Having his hair in a bun also makes it even more curly when he takes it down 🤭) (His hair is also the longest of the cast, Jin Ling is second with Wei Ying being a close third)

He has a small tattoo of a spider on the outside of his right pinky where it meets the bottom knuckle as a reference to his mother and her influence on him. 

When Jiang Cheng figures out he can turn Sandu into a tattoo, he chooses to make it appear on his back, with intricately woven vines and flowers growing around it—a reference to his family and home. (Refer to ‘Extra Headcanons’)

Jiang Cheng is actually quite proficient in his skills with a bow and arrow. He was good when Wei Ying was alive, and he was even more determined to get better when he died (it was a way for him to feel connected to his fallen brother, in a way, since it was one of the things that his mother used to constantly compare the two against each other)

His want to get even better also came from his resolution to be one of the main people to teach Jin Ling archery when he was old enough, given that it’s one of the things the Jins focus on the most (refer to ‘Jin Sect’).

Fun fact: one of Jiang Cheng's favorite snacks is cherries!

When Jiang Cheng started going after rogue Demonic Cultivators, a rumor started to spread, claiming that he was killing them off once he saw them after he returned back to his sect since no one would ever hear of the Demonic Cultivator again.

What really happened was Jiang Cheng would meet them and see if they could be reformed or not. If they could, he would offer them a job somewhere in his sect for the trade that they give up Demonic Cultivation and take some remedial classes that he gives. If not, he uses Zidian to kill them (that way when they die, the resentful energy that corrupted them is expelled and they are able to pass on to a better place instead of being grounded in the Burial Mounds).

Jiang Cheng has heard of the rumors that surround him, but he just never cared to dismiss them, saying that they gave him a more “ruthless” reputation and it helped him protect his sect better.

Jiang Cheng can hold his breath for up to ten minutes. It was found out at one of the swimming competitions and it ended up giving him the winning point. This also means that he has the record (beating Wei Ying).

At some point in time during the years that Wei Wuxian was dead, Jiang Cheng had a big mental breakdown—enough to spark Zidian. The lightning from the ring was strong, and for the first time in his life he could feel it hurt like a motherfucker. It felt like it went on for hours, but in reality it was only a couple seconds. Afterwards, Jiang Cheng couldn’t really feel his hand that much, and there were Lichtenberg scars covering it as proof of what had transpired. Zidian was still able to work, though.

Wei Ying

When he is resurrected into Mo Xuanyu’s body after 13 years of his death, he finds a butterfly permanently inked onto the boy’s body. At first, he thinks it was already there before the ritual, but he soon comes to find out that it was formed there after his soul took over the body, as it is a symbol of rebirth after death.

Wei Ying has actually attempted suicide multiple times, but Wen Ning kept stopping him before he could succeed (Wen Qing did as well, before she died, too).

Jiang Yanli

During the time both WY & JC were at the Cloud Recesses, Yanli actually took an apprenticeship with a cultivator who specialized in medicine and took a liking to it, her proficiency helping to give her a name in the area. Although, she didn’t get a lot of attention from it and eventually stopped practicing when WY came back from getting in trouble. The next time she ended up using her skills was during the Sunshot Campaign.

She had wanted to learn about using poison, too, but ultimately never got to.

All it took was a simple lie.

Jiang Fengmian was tired of the accusations, of the rumors on the streets, of the scorn from his wife. Ever since he had brought little Wei Ying back from the streets, Jiang Fengmian had to deal with so much stress. But it was worth it. To care for the child of his best friends, it was worth it.

It was true that he loved Cangse. He loved her personality, her laugh, the freedom she represented. But the moment she rejected him, Jiang Fengmian had backed off and stuck with friendship instead. It wouldn’t have worked out between them anyways. Cangse lived her freedom and that was the one thing Jiang Fengmian couldn’t give her. So he was sontent with the friendship and even more so when she proposed to Wei Changze.

The two of them, his most favorite people in the world, would get married and stay in Lotus Pier. They would help him teach his disciples, show them the joys and hardships of life, help him out with the sect.

But that kind of wishful thinking was shattered when he was forced to marry Yu Ziyuan. Jiang Fengmian never wanted her. True, she was a strong, capable woman. But her personality grated against his and he knew he would crumble beneath her. But it was his terrible mother’s wish to see them married and he could not go against her as his father supported the marriage as well.

So he got engaged to Yu Ziyuan and had to get to know her. And she….wasn’t as bad as he thought her to be. Sure, she was volatile but underneath all of that, she was a wonderful woman. That’s what he thought, at least, until he found out that she had forced his friends away from Lotus Pier.

Evidently, rumors about his previous infatuation with Cangse had reached her ears and with his mother’s help, kicked Wei Changze and Cangse Sanren away from him.

Jiang Fengmian grew resentful of the two after that. But perhaps he should have done more to comfort Yu Ziyuan that he didn’t like Cangse that way.

Well, what’s done is done. He can’t change the past. But he can do something right now.

He had found Wei Ying sobbing and on the floor, a red handprint on his cheek with Yu Ziyuan standing over him.

With a shout, he gathered Wei Ying towards him and questioned Yu Ziyuan, “Why did you hit him?!”

The woman scoffed. “Why can’t I? He caused trouble so he should be punished for it.”

“He’s nine! What kind of trouble could he have caused?”

“Does it matter?” She sneered. “You would always have come to this brat’s rescue. Even though you would never do the same for our son! Or am I right? That this brat is your child with that woman!!”

“I have never even touched Cangse in that manner, how dare you! I would never betray Changze like that!!”

“Well how am I supposed to know?! He looks so similar to you! And with the way that that woman flirted, you would think—”

“YU ZIYUAN! Don’t you dare complete that sentence!! There’s a child here!”

“Oh? Why can’t I? That brat deserves to hear what kind of a woman his mother was!”

Jiang Fengmian shook with anger. Without thinking too much, he blurted out something to make her stop. (Something he wished was true.) “Wei Ying is my nephew, San-Niang!! Wei Changze was my half brother! Why wouldn’t I care for the last reminder of him?!”

Silence reigned in the room save for Jiang Fengmian’s enraged breaths and Wei Ying’s sniffling.

“…..What?” Yu Ziyuan breathed. “He’s…..”

Jiang Fengmian just computed what he said. But he would push forward with it. “He’s my nephew. My father had a tryst with a woman and Changze was born. I never knew until my father had told me so on his deathbed.” Jiang Fengmian could only thank the starts that both his parents were dead and wouldn’t be able to contest against this. “I never brought it up to save our reputation. Are you happy now?”

Yu Ziyuan still seemed in shock so Jiang Fengmian took this time to retreat.

“I hope I never see anything like this again, my lady.”

He closed the door.

Asha and i'm not just saying that because you're the ultimate Asha stan. She literally did nothing wrong and people still wanna make her the villain over the guy who lives in a castle and hoards everyone's wishes for himself. Her only crime is being a victim of mediocre writing and being the Quirky character everyone hates on now. Even people who don't hate her don't even care about her unless she's in a relationship with fucking star boy.

Also Yu Ziyuan but this one is harder to defend than Asha who LITERALLY did nothing wrong because Ziyuan definitely did. I know she's a terrible mother but consider: I love her anyway. she's a badass. she's justifiably angry about her situation and she's loud about it. she's mean and cruel in her anger. and I fucking love her. in a series where fans are willing to blorbify war criminals (almost everyone rip but ESPECIALLY characters like Wen Ruohan, Wen Xu and Wen Chao) or borderline psychopaths (Xue Yang) I don't think liking a character whose crimes are 1) being a bad mom and 2) being cruel to the protagonist is the worst thing ever.

MDZS fans acting like Jiang Cheng could have helped WWX and the Wens without totally dooming his entire sect. like, dude. These are people everyone fucking hates and no one wants to help. The Jiang sect is rebuilding and vulnerable and so is Jiang Cheng. Everyone is scared of Wei Wuxian. If Jiang Cheng helps them, people (JGS) are definitely gonna start suspecting them of some stuff and that's before wild rumors start spreading. Jiang Cheng just got his sect back up and running, how could he risk that?

the situation sucks for everyone. sadly, there was no way it was going to end well no matter what choice was made. that's kind of the point. they were all doomed by both their own choices and things outside of their control.

An Unforseen Shift

Summary:

Wei Wuxian found a resentful sword deep in the bowels of a famed beast. He took it. That turned out to be fortunate since, it would seem, the sword had more than one purpose. That sword was the key to their escape from certain death trapped in the cave of the Slaughter Xuanwu.

Notes:

This story is canon up until the disciples escape from the Xuanwu Cave leaving Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji alone and injured. After that is goes in a different direction, although I do try to keep as many canon elements as possible.

17. Hi! I've been searching for a certain time travel Wangxian fic for a while now, and I can't find, probably cause I don't remember the name!

Basically, it starts with LW and Nie Huaisang getting into a book exchange (porn, it's very awkward at first) during LW's seclusion that leads to them getting closer and becoming friends. fast forward years later (possibly 13, I dont remember) and NH approaches LW saying that he's found a way to fix this whole mess: Time travel! LW agrees and they both get flung back to the Burial Mounds Era.

But things are a bit different. LW's body has his old scars, both the brand and the whips, but he's closer in physical age to where he should post-sunshot. This comes up later.

Anyway, LW and NH know some of the goings on that they have to prevent, but the don't have all the answers, cause the whole murder-mystery-Jin Guangyao-reveal never happened. But they do know they need to get WWX and Wens some immediate help, like money and food, as well as a better means of income than radish sales. LW, in the hopes of starting all this, creates a fake identity, dressing in simple dark clothes and using a sort of magic-glamour and large hat to obscure his face (mostly cause he thinks WWX hates him and doesn't trust him, I think) and goes to talk to WWX. He asks him to write a book about ways to help the common people deal with monsters and little cultivation things. WWX almost immediately recognizes LW, even though he can't see his face, and is struck both with immense curiosity about what has driven LW to hide and also creating this book sounds fun. So he does, and LW publishes it. He also, in disguise, visits the burial mounds a lot. WWX doesn't reveal who it is to the Wens, but he does go on about how they can trust this mysterious strange and acts very friendly and very close and Wen Qing thinks the whole thing is suspicious.

Next, NH remembers that Jin Jin accused WWX of cursing him, which led to the whole Qiongqu Path and murder of Jin Zixuan and kicked off everything else. So, they need to find who really cursed him.

LW, in disguise, asks WWX to create a curse tracker, and when asked about what kinds of curses it should work on, he specifically says the hundred holes curse.

During a couple of these disguised visits, WWX says that LW is really good with A-Yuan. LW is, obviously, missing the boy who grew up his son, but is also happy to him with his family. LW tells WWX about Sizhui, described as a child he cared for but who has returned to his family and therefore LW can't see him anymore. In another visit, (for reasons I can't remember) LW faints (gets injured??) and WWX, obviously, freaks out and demands WQ take care of the shadowing face hiding stranger. It's as she's doing that that she discovers some interesting things. Namely, a Wen brand on his chest and a fuckton of whips scars on the guys back. But all these scars are old! Like, maybe 10 years old, and so it's weird. If this was someone the Wens had tortured, his motives are not great for helping them but also, she would have definitely helped treat these wounds and she didn't! WWX promises that the stranger is trustworthy when she brings up questions, but is also professional enough to not mention a patients scars to someone unrelated.

After that, WWX finishes the curse tracker and gives it to the LW, who gives it Jin Zixun who trackes it to Su She and attacks him in the middle of a conference. LW and NH are enjoying the show and hiding the curse tracker. But! Rumors spread all the way back to Yiling, but how a Jin managed to track down the one who cursed him. Specifically the Hundred Holes curse. And WWX goes, 'wait a minute, I made a thing that did that. How did LZ know about that 2 WEEKS in advance?'

I think the last chapter, (it's unfinished) was NH and LW arranging to sneak WWX into Jing Ling's one month celebration. And WWX overhears someone who caught a glimpse of LW taking a bath remarking on all those scars. But WWX has seen LW's back, back in the Cloud Recesses, and there were no scars then. And it ends there, with WWX with some pieces and absolutely no logical way to put them together.

I have searched EVERYWHERE!! Everything I can think of!! Do you recognize it?? Could you find it?? It's a fantastic read. I love the subtle friendship of LW and NH as they try to fix the world, but not telling anyone what they're doing or why they're suddenly spending so much time together. And WWX enjoying time with LW not worrying about his cultivation getting in the way and without LW asking him to go to Gusu, but still trying to figure out why LW needs a fake identity to do it. @several-things-in-abundance

In that fanfic, Wwx and Wq make up a plan to have Wwx marry Lwj, so that they could buy some time until the sects attacked and since Lwj was the least likely to try to murder Wwx. Wwx acts distantly, but after the mid-autumn festival, they start getting closer. Some time later, Xy invades the Burial Mounds and tries to attack a-Qing, who was out and about on the middle of the night. Lwj saves her, but is almost killed while trying to do so. Wwx had been called to Baixue temple with Wq, and, when he was there and received Lwj's ask for help, he believed it was a trap from Lwj and almost didn't go back. He felt really guilty about using Lwj and almost getting him killed.

The OC became terrified of wwx and wishes he didn’t join the kidnappers lol. Then, when Lwj came to rescue wwx, wwx switch to a weak being.
