WHY DO I DO THIS?

So, I started writing fanfiction years ago but then I stopped as I just got too busy. Now I've started again. I write exclusively in the Untamed fandom.

WHY? WHY? WHY? Why would I do that?

I'm not Chinese. I don't speak Chinese. I don't fully inderstand Chinese culture or the Chinese mindset, yet here I am, writing fanfiction for a C-Drama.

I am truly gobsmacked by the amonunt of research I do for this.

I now know how to address my mother's younger sister, my mother's older sister, paternal grandfather, maternal grandmother, et al.

I know what they ate in ancient china, what kind of plumbing they had, what weddings were like, even what games the children played ffs.

I honsestly did less research for my dissertation. So WHY? Why am I doing this? I don't get paid, it takes up a frankly ridiculous amount of my time and I even forgot to eat the other day because I was on a roll.

So please, someone tell me, WHY AM I DOING THIS?
