I've been trying to trick my brain into letting my write my fic series out of order lately, so this is my rough draft of a scene with Regulus in his 6th year in my AU, a few days before summer break.
It's been a few days after the end of the Third Task and Regulus can't stop shaking. His skin feels cold and his hair constantly sticks to his skin—the phantom feel of water trickling down his neck never stops. His dreams are constantly accompanied by the sound of rushing water filling his ears and unidentifiable sensations wrapping themselves around his legs, pulling him further under until he can't keep his eyes open, gasping awake and reaching up for a comforting light that was no longer there. He would spend minutes just laying in bed, gripping the sheets in his dormitory praying to a deity he no longer believed in that these nightmares would one day soon stop following him, and that they at least gave him the decency to be quiet as he screamed in the face of these shadowed horrors. The continued impression of eyes searing into his skin continued to track his every movement, seemingly never needing a break. Regulus felt like he was going crazy. His appetite has dwindled the closer it got to summer break and his friends were starting to notice. Every morning at breakfast Evan would come and drag him from bed and force him to sit in the Great Hall as Barty would place food in front of him, not bothering to say anything. Dorcas would give him a stern talking to about eating correctly, and Pandora would just have a small, sad smile on her face that made Regulus even more apprehensive about the upcoming week. The seer had been more subdued lately, and whenever Regulus would try and check up on her, she would shake her head slightly and say, "what's done is done, there's no changing this. All we can do is hope for a different outcome and try our hardest." Regulus stopped asking after that, wanting to preserve what little hope he had that he was wrong about his guess about what'll happen when he gets home. (He knew it was a hopeless endeavor.)

key - december 29th - jegulus - @stag-microfic - word count: 274 rain - december 29th - jegulus - @taylorswiftmicrofic
Regulus should have known, given who he was dating, that things in his life would never be predictable.
He was in the rain, half-running through a storm, phone glued to his ear, when James casually mentioned it. "I'm almost to your place, will you let me in as soon as I get there?" he asked breathlessly as soon as James picked up.
"I'm not home just yet," James said through the line. "Just let yourself in, yeah?"
Nearly tripping in a puddle, Regulus rolled his eyes. "How will I do that, James? It's not like I have-"
"Use the key I gave you, love. On your keyring."
Wondering if he was going crazy, Regulus stopped in the middle of the sidewalk to look at his keys. "James, you didn't give me-"
But he did. Because right there, on his keyring, was a key labelled J+R that he's never seen before.
Swallowing a strange lump in his throat, Regulus began to walk again. "When did you give me this?"
"Last week, when I asked you to move in! That's why you've been here for a week non-stop now, innit?"
And again, Regulus stumbled. Because when James mumbled, half asleep, six days ago, "Just...how about you never leave?" and Regulus had agreed, he hadn't realized....
But now that James said it, the idea quickly took up a rather bright spot in his heart.
"I...yes," he said, a slightly-watery smile on his face as he stopped in front of James's- his- building.
"Want to order something out? Maybe from that pizza place? I'll grab it on my way back."
Regulus could not stop grinning. "Sounds great, Jamie."

regulus back with selective mutism who learns to be comfortably talking with sirius as a child. when he goes to hogwarts and he isn't talking to him anymore, he goes quite. over the years, he gets comfortable enough to talk to the skittles.
imagine sirius talking to regulus again, only to find that he is no longer someone he feels safe and comfortable enough with to talk to. imagine sirius when he sees james being a person he can talk to.

Coffee
"Bottle" - Jegulus Microfic - @into-the-jeggyverse - 407 words
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Reggie, I'm grabbing a Dr. Pepper, do you want a bottle?"
Regulus didn't look up from his book. "No, James is bringing me a drink."
"What?" Remus gave him an uncertain look. "How do you know? Your phone's been dead all day."
"It's 4:15," Regulus pointed out. "James got off at 4. He'll come here after work, but he'll stop at the coffee shop on the way and get us both coffees. Yours, too, and SIrius's if he knows he's here."
"He knows," Sirius spoke up. "'Cause I text him earlier. But no one's mentioned coffee."
Regulus knew what he was talking about. "No one had to mention it."
"Are you sure I shouldn't just call him?" Remus asked. "Just to - look, I know James is great, but he isn't psychic, Reg."
"Wait ten minutes," Regulus told him. "You'll see."
Remus exchanged a glance with Sirius that Regulus ignored. "I'm seeing unrealistic expectations, but okay. Have it your way."
Nine minutes later, the door opened. Regulus smiled.
"Hey, I brought caffeine!" James announced, walking into the bookshop. He kissed the top of Regulus's head before handing him his cup. "How's your day been?"
"Slow," Regulus replied, smirking at Remus. "Which was nice. I finished that book I showed you yesterday."
Remus took his drink with a faintly confused look. "Thanks. Did you - did Regulus text you earlier?"
"No," James replied, handing Sirius's over. "I kind of thought his phone might have died, actually. I tried to text you," he directed that last one to Regulus, who winced.
"Yeah, I forgot to charge it. Sorry," he apologized.
"It's alright." James smiled at him, settling on the arm of his chair. "What are you reading now?"
Regulus turned the book so James could see the cover. "Remus didn't think you loved me enough to get me coffee."
James frowned, looking at his friend. "What?"
"Not what I said," Remus defended himself. "I just wasn't sure you would know that Reg wanted coffee when he hadn't actually told you. That's all."
"He was very sure of it, though," Sirius chimed in. "Did you plan it this morning?"
"Oh." James shrugged. "Not really. But I told him that I got off at four today, and he's here 'til six, so it was pretty obvious."
Regulus smiled, leaning against James. "I love you."
"I love you, too." James grinned at him. "So much."
"I know," Regulus replied, and it was true.

18 year old Regulus transforming into his cat animagus for the first time and he's a cute lil black kitten at first.
James absolutely melts when he sees him bc he's so tiny and he's still got that kitten fluff.
James telling Regulus he wishes his animagus remains a kitten forever.
Regulus dying just a few weeks later so that James never did get to see an adult cat Regulus and he'll forever regret saying those words bc there's nothing he'd like more than to see the kitten grow.

across - Jegulus Microfic - @into-the-jeggyverse - word count: 294
It was early. The sun had barely started to peek above the horizon and James didn't want to leave the comfort of the warm bed he was curled up in. But Quidditch practice called, and as the captain, it was a bad look to be late.
So, pulling away from the other person in the bed, he places a soft kiss on his head and mumbled softly, "Bye, love. Have a good morning," all while smiling adoringly.
His only response was a groan, so he chuckled and slipped out of the bed curtains.
Of course, he couldn't just walk out of the room. Nobody knew he was there. So he crept slowly, not bothering to throw on the Invisibility Cloak because of the hour, and tip-toed down the stairs to the Common Room. All was going very well, until he looked across to the opposite staircase and saw-
"Marlene?" he gasped, forgetting who he was and where he was.
"James?" the girl whisper-screamed, eye wide. "What the fuck are you doing here?"
Of course, then it hit him. "I...er..." he stumbled on his words, because the honest truth was that he had no reason for being in the Slytherin Common Room at 4:30am. "I..."
But Marlene was too smart for him. A huge smile formed on her face and she said happily, "You are dating Regulus, aren't you? Dorcas really thought so and I told her there was no way, but-"
"Dorcas?" James interrupted, breaking into his smug grin. "Is that who you've been with? Dorcas Meadowes?"
Marlene turned bright red and snapped her mouth shut, swallowing loudly. "Fine," she said after a moment. "I didn't see you and you didn't see me."
"Deal," James laughed. "See you in an hour at practice?"
"Yup."

hair - Jegulus Microfic - @into-the-jeggyverse - word count: 244
"Describe your crush!" Marlene ordered with an evil grin, giggling over her butterbeer. "At least four things."
James's stomach dropped but thankfully, the question wasn't directed at him, it was directed at Remus. Remus, who looked like he wanted to crawl under a rock.
"Er...he's a bit short," the taller boy started out, blushing a bit and avoiding eyes contact.
He. Well, that confirmed James's suspicions. And someone short? No, it had to be a coincidence.
"He's got...really nice black hair," Remus continued, squirming in his seat.
Alright, now James was nervous. Black hair? He only spent all his free time daydreaming about those perfect, shiny black curls and what it might feel like to run his fingers through them.
"He...he has gray eyes," Remus mumbled, biting at his lips and blinking nervously.
Fuck. James was all-out panicking now. Because when he wasn't thinking of black curls he was thinking of one particular shade of gray. And he only knew one person who had such stunning eyes.
"And....he's in our house," Remus finished breathlessly.
What?
James was stumped by that. But before he could properly react, Sirius gasped, mouth open, and turned to Remus. "Me?"
But if he was honest, James was only half paying attention to Remus's responding nod and the way Sirius immediately pulled him from the room to wolf-whistles and claps.
He was too busy being relieved. Because Remus didn't like Regulus Black, and that was who he'd been daydreaming about.
