connecting your daily work to your goals
connecting your daily work to your long-term goals is essential for maintaining motivation, achieving success, and feeling fulfilled in your career or personal pursuits. here's how you can effectively align your daily tasks with your overarching goals:
1. define your long-term goals:
start by clearly defining your long-term goals. these can be related to your career, personal development, health, finances, relationships, or any other area of your life. make sure your goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (smart).
2. break down goals into smaller milestones:
once you have your long-term goals, break them down into smaller, manageable milestones. these milestones act as checkpoints on your journey toward achieving your larger goals.
3. create a daily to-do list:
develop a daily to-do list that includes tasks directly related to your milestones. prioritize these tasks to ensure you're consistently making progress toward your goals. use tools like planners, apps, or journals to stay organized.
4. set aside dedicated time:
allocate specific time blocks in your schedule for working on tasks that align with your goals. this helps ensure that you consistently dedicate time to meaningful activities rather than getting lost in less important tasks.
5. regularly review and adjust:
periodically review your progress toward your goals. assess what's working and what isn't, and make necessary adjustments. this ongoing evaluation helps you stay on track and make informed decisions.
6. celebrate achievements:
acknowledge and celebrate your milestones and achievements, no matter how small. celebrating progress can boost your motivation and reinforce your commitment to your goals.
7. stay flexible:
life is unpredictable, and sometimes, you may need to adjust your plans. staying flexible and adapting to changes while keeping your goals in mind is crucial for long-term success.
8. find accountability:
share your goals with a friend, mentor, or colleague who can provide support and hold you accountable. regular check-ins with an accountability partner can help you stay focused and motivated.
9. visualize success:
take a few moments each day to visualize yourself achieving your goals. this mental exercise can help reinforce your commitment and keep you motivated.
the science behind it:
goal-setting theory: according to goal-setting theory, specific and challenging goals lead to higher performance compared to vague or easy goals. setting clear goals and breaking them down into actionable steps can significantly improve productivity and motivation.
dopamine and motivation: achieving small tasks releases dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and reward. this helps create a positive feedback loop, encouraging you to continue working toward your goals.
self-determination theory: this theory suggests that people are more motivated when they have autonomy, competence, and relatedness. aligning daily work with personal goals enhances the sense of purpose and satisfaction.
i hope this post is helpful! ❤️nene

How can you unlock Your Full Potential?
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Paid Services
1. Know Yourself
You first need to know who you are. Take some time to think about your strengths and weaknesses. Ask yourself:
What am I good at?
What do I enjoy doing?
What skills do I want to improve?
What moments have made me feel proud?
How do I handle challenges?
Tips:
Write down your thoughts in a journal.
Talk to friends or family for their insights.
2. Set Clear Goals
Once you understand yourself better, it’s time to set goals. Clear goals give you direction and motivation. Make sure your goals are SMART:
Specific: Be clear about what you want.
Measurable: Find ways to track your progress.
Achievable: Set realistic goals that you can reach.
Relevant: Ensure your goals align with your values.
Time-bound: Set a deadline for your goals.
Questions:
What specific outcomes do I want to achieve?
How will I measure my progress?
What challenges might I face, and how will I overcome them?
Example:
Instead of saying, "I want to be fit," say, "I want to run 5 kilometers in three months."
3. Stay Positive
A positive mindset is essential for unlocking your potential. When you believe in yourself, you are more likely to take risks and try new things.
Questions:
What negative thoughts hold me back?
How can I reframe these thoughts positively?
Who inspires me, and what can I learn from them?
Tips:
Surround yourself with positive people.
Practice gratitude by writing down things you are thankful for each day.
Use positive affirmations, like "I can achieve my goals."
4. Learn Continuously
Never stop learning! Whether through books, online courses, or workshops, gaining new knowledge and skills can help you grow.
Questions:
What new skills do I want to learn this year?
How can I make learning a part of my daily routine?
Who can I learn from in my community or online?
Tips:
Set aside time each week for learning.
Join clubs or groups that interest you.
Ask for feedback to improve.
5. Take Action
Dreams remain dreams without action. Break your goals into small steps and take action every day. Even small progress is still progress!
Questions:
What is one small step I can take today toward my goal?
How can I hold myself accountable?
What rewards will I give myself for completing tasks?
Tips:
Create a daily to-do list.
Celebrate your small wins.
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes; they are part of learning.
6. Take Care of Yourself
Physical and mental health are crucial for reaching your potential. Make sure to:
Questions:
Am I eating foods that nourish my body?
How can I incorporate more physical activity into my routine?
What stress-relief techniques work best for me?
Tips:
Eat healthy foods.
Exercise regularly.
Get enough sleep.
Take breaks when you need them.
7. Stay Resilient
You will face challenges along the way. It’s important to stay resilient and not give up. When things get tough, remind yourself why you started and keep pushing forward.
Questions:
How have I bounced back from challenges in the past?
What strategies can I use to stay motivated during tough times?
Who can I reach out to for support?
Tips:
View challenges as opportunities to grow.
Learn from failures instead of fearing them.
Seek support from friends or teachers when needed.

My Feedback to ABC
Well, I submitted my feedback to ABC. Not sure it will do any good, but it felt good to do it. I did try to be as respectful as possible. No sense in acting like a child.
I am writing to express my deep disappointment and sadness regarding the recent decision to end the relationship between Buck and Tommy on 9-1-1. As a 54-year-old gay man and a long-time viewer, I have invested not only my time but also my emotions in this narrative. I feel profoundly betrayed and misled by the writers and producers who have championed this relationship, only to discard it in such a dismissive manner.
From the onset, this relationship was presented as a groundbreaking portrayal of a mature LGBTQ partnership. It was a representation I thought we all craved and deserved. However, the decision to end it, coupled with the reliance on outdated stereotypes about both gay and bisexual individuals, is not only disheartening but damaging. We have fought hard for visibility and acceptance, and perpetuating these harmful stereotypes does nothing but hinder our progress as a community.
Moreover, I am upset by the statements made by the showrunner during his interviews, which now feel like empty promises and blatant lies. The narrative arc that was promised has not only been abandoned but has been replaced with a narrative that feels disrespectful to the complexities of LGBTQ relationships. It is hard to reconcile the excitement I felt about this representation with the reality of how it has unfolded.
Additionally, I must address the recent biphobic comments made by the actor involved in this relationship. Such statements are not only flippant but also contribute to the ongoing stigma that bisexual individuals face. This lack of understanding and sensitivity is disappointing, especially from someone in a position of influence.
As a consequence of these events, I will no longer be watching 9-1-1 or any future spinoffs associated with it. I believe it is crucial to hold creators accountable for their portrayals of our community, and I can no longer trust that the stories being told will reflect the authenticity and respect that LGBTQ relationships deserve.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and recognize the impact that your decisions have on viewers like myself.

complaints and feedbacks about the game
so far i find that most people are just, okay with how the game is going. they don't exactly provide any feedbacks nor do they criticise Black Shepherd Games for railing almost every deadline they give themselves.
Tumblr media
but people need to understand that the game is in demo, and this is one of the most crucial times for it to receive feedbacks; to inform that the writing is off, or how a mechanic in the game is being weird. so dont be afraid to give your feedbacks, we do it because we want the game to be better and we care about the golfball ‼️
i. a save file
this is like, one of the things everyone's been asking for. but i still think it's kinda stupid that it's already day 4 and we still dont have a save file.
ii. the sprites.
im well aware that fuboo wants her game to have a lot of sprites — but just changing his expressions without making changes like tilting his head even a little is not it. it looks like he has joint problems. also! some of the sprites have colours leaking out of their lineart so that's something
Tumblr media
iii. the game updates
fuboo tends to just inform of their progress on patreon half-heartedly. well, at least when i was still paying. it's frustrating! i want to know more details about the game. not just:
Tumblr media
mind you they were already pretty late on finishing up day 4 around this time too. do a monthly update of the game with details or something, show us that progress is being made and be strict with your deadlines.
v. deadlines deadlines deadlines
please please please adhere to your own deadlines. this ensures that the game progress is flowing smoothly. if day 1 - day 4 have taken this long, how long should we expect for the game to be finished, really?
vi. the writing
i dont even need to touch on how out of character YB has been after day 3. some people like it, some people dont. a problem i have with it is the fact that they basically forgot how they wrote about him on tumblr :/ like, why waste so much potential and material? the first red flag was how he reacted when you name him after yourself back in day 1. so it made me wonder...
who's really writing this game?
vii. invest in proofreaders
i dont know if they already have one but last i checked 'pigeons' was still spelled as 'pidgeons' back in day 1.
viii. mechanics
an important part of a demo is to show the mechanics of how a game works. this means your main ones shouldn't have a problem by now that you're knee deep into progress. have an audio toggle, have a log for the progress your players have made, give more features to the settings. the mechanics of a game is the backbone of it, if you fuck it up early then it's gonna be a while for you to fix it
Tumblr media
i think thats all ive got for now, do inform me if there's changes that theyve made which im not aware of. other than that we should remember that the game is supposed to interconnect with the blog, and thats where the source material should've been from (and stick with it)

Everything You Need To Know Before Editing Your Manuscript
Tumblr media
Finishing your manuscript is a big accomplishment, but that’s only the start of your writing journey. Now that you have a manuscript to work with it’s time to start your editing process and perfect your story. Editing might sound easy enough, but it involves a lot more than just correcting your SPAG.
If you’re a new author unsure about how to start editing your manuscript, here’s everything you need to know, from a self-published author.
Self-Editing: The First Step
Editing your own work can be both challenging and rewarding. When you take on the role of a self-editor, you gain a deeper understanding of your writing and the opportunity to refine it to its fullest potential. Self-editing helps ensure you cut down on noticeable mistakes before sending it out to an actual editor so that you can receive more productive feedback.
I would honestly hate having to pay someone just for them to tell me ‘you misspelt xyz’ which is something I could have caught with a quick read-through. Once you’ve finished your manuscript here’s how you can start off with some self-editing:
1. Take a Break Before You Start
After completing your initial draft, it's crucial to distance yourself from your work. Give it some time to breathe. This break can be a few days or even weeks, depending on your schedule. When you return to your manuscript, you'll approach it with a fresh perspective.
2. Read Your Manuscript Aloud
One of the most effective self-editing techniques is reading your work aloud. This process helps you identify awkward sentences, pacing issues, and grammatical errors that might go unnoticed when reading silently. It also allows you to hear the flow of your writing and the nuances of your character's voices.
3. Focus on SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation, and Grammar)
Before delving into more complex edits, address SPAG issues. Look out for common mistakes such as typos, subject-verb agreement errors, and misused punctuation. Utilize grammar and spell-check tools, but don't rely solely on them.
4. Assess Overall Structure and Flow
Consider the broader structure of your manuscript. Does the plot progression make sense? Are there any plot holes or inconsistencies? Verify that your story flows smoothly from beginning to end. Ensure that transitions between scenes and chapters are seamless.
5. Dive into Character Development
Characters are the heart of your story. Analyze each character's arc, motivations, and growth throughout the narrative. Ensure that their actions and dialogue are consistent with their personalities and the story's themes.
6. Refine Your Writing Style
Pay attention to your writing style and voice. Is it consistent throughout the manuscript? Make sure your unique voice shines through, and refine your prose to eliminate unnecessary repetition or verbosity.
7. Trim Excessively Long Sentences
Long, convoluted sentences can confuse readers and disrupt the flow of your narrative. Identify and break down lengthy sentences into more manageable segments.
8. Seek Feedback
Consider sharing your work with beta readers or critique partners at this stage. Fresh perspectives can uncover blind spots and provide valuable insights for improvement.
Remember that self-editing is an iterative process. After completing these initial rounds of edits, repeat the process as necessary until you're satisfied with the manuscript's quality
Types of Editing
When editing their manuscript authors often direct their focus to the way things are written and then call it a day. However, SPAG corrections are only the start of your editing process. Unsure of other ways to better your manuscript? Here are some types of editing I think every author should consider when self-editing:
SPAG Editing (Spelling, Punctuation, and Grammar)
SPAG editing, often considered the foundation of all editing, involves meticulously combing through your manuscript to correct spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors. This stage is essential for ensuring the clarity and professionalism of your writing.
Tips for Effective SPAG Editing
Use Spell-Checkers Wisely: While spell-check tools can catch many errors, they're not foolproof. Pay close attention to context; for instance, "their" and "there" are both valid words but have distinct meanings.
Proofread Carefully: Rely on your eyes and proofread your work systematically. Reading backward, from the end to the beginning, can help you catch spelling errors.
Punctuation Matters: Proper punctuation enhances clarity. Study punctuation rules, including the use of commas, semicolons, and quotation marks.
Avoid Homophone Confusion: Homophones, such as "your" and "you're" or "its" and "it's," can trip up even experienced writers. Double-check these tricky pairs.
Consistency is Key: Be consistent in your use of tense, style, and formatting throughout your manuscript.
Consider a Style Guide: Depending on your project, adhere to a specific style guide like AP Style, Chicago Manual of Style, or your publisher's guidelines.
Line Editing
Line editing is where the magic of storytelling truly begins to shine. This stage of editing goes beyond correcting surface-level errors and focuses on enhancing the overall writing style, clarity, and impact of your prose.
Tips for Effective Line Editing
Sentence Structure: Evaluate sentence length and structure. Vary sentence lengths to maintain reader interest. Look for run-on sentences and fragments.
Word Choice: Opt for strong, precise verbs and nouns. Eliminate unnecessary adverbs and adjectives. Avoid clichés and overused expressions.
Consistency in Tone: Ensure the tone of your writing remains consistent throughout the manuscript. Be aware of shifts in tone that may disrupt the reader's experience.
Show, Don't Tell: Replace telling phrases with descriptive scenes and actions to immerse readers in your story. For example, instead of saying "She was nervous," show her trembling hands or racing heart.
Dialogue Polishing: Make sure your characters' dialogue sounds authentic and serves the story. Remove redundancies and refine conversations to convey subtext effectively.
Eliminate Repetition: Identify and eliminate unnecessary repetition, both within sentences and across paragraphs.
Read for Rhythm: Pay attention to the rhythm of your writing. Read your sentences aloud to ensure they flow smoothly and have a pleasing cadence.
Example: Line Editing in Action
Before: "He walked slowly into the dark room, and it was filled with an eerie silence."
After Line Editing: "He tiptoed into the dark room, which echoed with an eerie silence."
Line editing transforms a plain sentence into a more evocative and engaging one.
Plot and Structure Editing
Plot and structure editing is where the big picture of your manuscript comes into focus. It involves assessing the overall narrative flow, character arcs, and thematic coherence of your story. This stage ensures that your readers will be captivated by your tale from beginning to end.
Tips for Effective Plot and Structure Editing
Plot Evaluation: Review your plot to identify any inconsistencies, gaps, or unresolved subplots. Ensure that your story has a clear and engaging trajectory.
Character Arcs: Analyze the development of your characters. Verify that they experience growth, change, or transformation throughout the story. Characters should face challenges and evolve as a result.
Pacing: Assess the pacing of your narrative. Balance action scenes with moments of reflection. Avoid overly slow or rushed sections that may disengage readers.
Transitions: Ensure smooth transitions between scenes and chapters. Use transitional elements like hooks, cliffhangers, or thematic connections to maintain reader interest.
Foreshadowing: Check for effective foreshadowing to create anticipation and intrigue. Ensure that events and revelations are set up in advance to make them more satisfying for readers.
Climax and Resolution: The climax should deliver on the story's promises and conflicts. The resolution should tie up loose ends while leaving room for reader interpretation.
Character Development Editing
Character development editing is the key to creating characters that readers will connect with, empathize with, and remember long after they've finished your book. This type of editing focuses on making your characters three-dimensional and integral to your story.
Tips for Effective Character Development Editing
Character Profiles: Create detailed character profiles that include physical attributes, personality traits, backgrounds, motivations, and flaws. Refer to these profiles as you edit to ensure consistency.
Character Arcs: Analyze each character's journey throughout the story. Ensure that they experience growth, change, or development in response to the plot's events.
Dialogue Authenticity: Pay attention to character dialogue. Each character should have a distinct voice and speaking style that aligns with their personality.
Internal Conflict: Explore each character's internal conflicts, desires, and fears. These internal struggles add depth to their characterization.
External Conflict: Consider how characters interact with one another and their external conflicts. Ensure that their actions and decisions are in line with their personalities.
Consistency: Maintain consistency in character behavior, beliefs, and values throughout the story. Avoid abrupt character shifts unless they are well-motivated and explained.
Style and Voice Editing
Style and voice editing is the stage where your writing truly becomes distinctive and memorable. It involves refining your unique writing style and ensuring that your narrative voice shines through consistently.
Tips for Effective Style and Voice Editing
Identify Your Writing Style: Reflect on your writing style. Are you descriptive and poetic, or concise and direct? Understand your natural tendencies.
Consistency is Key: Ensure that your writing style remains consistent throughout the manuscript. Abrupt shifts in style can be jarring to readers.
Narrative Voice: Identify your narrative voice. Is it first-person, third-person limited, or omniscient? Make sure your chosen narrative perspective aligns with the story's needs.
Character Voices: Pay attention to the unique voices of your characters. Each character should have a distinct way of speaking and thinking, contributing to the overall narrative texture.
Finding a Professional Editor
Writing a book is a deeply personal journey, but when it comes to the final steps of polishing your manuscript, it's essential to bring in a fresh perspective. This is where a professional editor comes in. They can help transform your work from good to outstanding, ensuring that it's ready to captivate readers. In this section, we'll explore how to find the right editor for your project.
When to Consider Hiring a Professional Editor
While self-editing and feedback from beta readers and critique partners are valuable, there comes a point when seeking professional editing assistance is crucial. Here are some key indicators that it's time to hire a professional editor:
After Self-Editing: Once you've gone through multiple rounds of self-editing and received feedback from beta readers, it's time to consider professional editing. You've taken your manuscript as far as you can on your own.
Before Publishing: Professional editing is essential if you plan to publish your work, whether traditionally or through self-publishing. It ensures your manuscript is in top shape, ready to impress agents, publishers, or readers.
For Complex Projects: If your project is particularly complex or requires specialized knowledge (e.g., technical writing, academic papers, historical accuracy), a professional editor with expertise in that area may be necessary.
Types of Professional Editing Services
Professional editors offer various types of editing services, each addressing different aspects of your manuscript. Here's an overview of the most common types:
Developmental Editing: This type of editing focuses on the big picture. Developmental editors help you shape your story, refine your characters, and ensure your plot flows smoothly.
Line Editing: Line editors dive into the nuances of your writing. They focus on improving sentence structure, style, and narrative flow, making your prose shine.
Copyediting: Copyeditors are meticulous about grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistency in style and formatting. They ensure your manuscript is error-free and conforms to industry standards.
Proofreading: The final stage of editing, proofreading checks for typos, formatting errors, and minor issues that may have been missed in earlier rounds of editing.
How to Choose the Right Editor
Finding the right professional editor is a crucial step in your publishing journey. Here's how to make the best choice:
Research: Look for editors with experience in your genre. Explore their portfolios and read client testimonials. A track record of successful projects is a good sign.
Sample Edit: Many editors offer a sample edit or consultation. Use this opportunity to assess their compatibility with your manuscript. Check if their editing style aligns with your vision.
Communication: Clear and effective communication with your editor is paramount. They should understand your manuscript's genre, themes, and your specific goals for the project.
Budget: Get quotes from multiple editors and consider your budget. Editing can be an investment, but it's essential to find a balance between quality and cost.
Contracts: Before starting the editing process, sign a clear contract that outlines the scope of work, deadlines, fees, and any additional services. A well-defined agreement protects both you and the editor.
Choosing the right professional editor is a partnership that can significantly impact the quality of your manuscript. Take your time, do your research, and find someone who truly understands your work.
Editing Tools and Software
In the digital age, writers have access to a wealth of editing tools and software that can significantly simplify the editing process. These tools not only help catch grammar and spelling errors but also provide valuable insights into your writing style.
1. Grammarly

3. Hemingway Editor
Named after the renowned writer Ernest Hemingway, this tool helps you simplify your writing. Hemingway Editor highlights complex sentences, common writing errors, and suggests alternatives to improve readability. It's particularly useful for authors aiming for clear and concise prose.
4. Scrivener
Scrivener is a comprehensive writing and editing software designed for authors. It provides a flexible workspace to organize your manuscript, research materials, and notes. While Scrivener isn't an editing tool in the traditional sense, its robust features can streamline your editing process.
5. Google Docs
Google Docs is a versatile cloud-based platform for collaborative writing and editing. It offers real-time collaboration, commenting, and revision history tracking. Authors can easily share their work with beta readers, critique partners, or professional editors.

Similar to Hemingway Editor, the Hemingway App identifies complex sentences, adverbs, and passive voice in your writing. It offers immediate feedback to help you simplify and clarify your prose.
8. Evernote

9. Reedsy Book Editor
Reedsy Book Editor is an online tool that helps authors format their manuscripts for publishing. It's especially handy for self-publishing authors looking to create professional-looking ebooks.
Common Editing Mistakes to Avoid
Editing is a critical step in the writing process, but it's essential to be aware of common editing mistakes that can hinder your progress. By recognizing and addressing these errors, you can refine your editing process and elevate the quality of your manuscript. Let's explore some of the most prevalent editing pitfalls and how to avoid them.
1. Editing Too Soon
One of the most common mistakes writers make is editing their work too soon after finishing the first draft. While the enthusiasm to refine your manuscript is commendable, it's crucial to give your writing some distance. Take a break before diving into the editing process. This allows you to return to your work with fresh eyes and a more critical perspective.
2. Neglecting the Big Picture
Focusing solely on grammar and spelling (SPAG editing) during your initial editing rounds is a mistake. While these aspects are vital, it's equally important to assess the overall structure, plot, character development, and style of your manuscript. Neglecting the big picture can result in a polished but fundamentally flawed story.
3. Overediting
Yes, you read that right—overediting can be a problem. Constantly revising your manuscript without a clear plan can lead to a never-ending editing cycle. Strive for a balance between thorough editing and knowing when your work is ready to be shared or submitted.
4. Ignoring Feedback
If you've enlisted beta readers or critique partners, their feedback is invaluable. However, it's a mistake to ignore or dismiss their insights. Be open to constructive criticism and use it to refine your work. Remember that not every suggestion needs to be implemented, but each one should be considered thoughtfully.
5. Relying Solely on Editing Software
While editing tools and software are powerful aids, they are not infallible. Relying solely on automated editing tools without human oversight can result in errors going unnoticed. Always use these tools as supplements to your own editing process, not replacements.
6. Rushing the Final Proofread
Proofreading is the last line of defense before publishing. Rushing this step can lead to embarrassing typos and errors slipping through. Take your time to meticulously proofread your work or consider hiring a professional proofreader for the final polish.
7. Neglecting Style Consistency
Consistency in style, tone, and formatting is vital, especially in longer works. Neglecting these aspects can create a disjointed reading experience. Create a style guide or checklist to maintain consistency throughout your manuscript.
8. Dismissing Your Gut Feeling
Sometimes, you might receive feedback or advice that conflicts with your vision for your manuscript. While it's essential to be open to suggestions, don't dismiss your gut feeling entirely. Ultimately, it's your story, and your voice should shine through.
9. Not Celebrating Progress
Finally, don't forget to celebrate your editing milestones. Writing and editing can be long and challenging processes. Take moments to acknowledge your accomplishments and keep the motivation flowing.
Beta Readers and Critique Partners
I want to finally end this blog post by talking about beta readers and critique partners. While some people might argue they shouldn’t be mentioned in an editing blog I think it’s important to also include them.
As an author, it's easy to become deeply immersed in your work, making it challenging to spot its flaws and areas for improvement. This is where beta readers and critique partners come in—a fresh set of eyes and perspectives to help you refine your manuscript.
Why Beta Readers and Critique Partners Matter
Objective Feedback: Beta readers and critique partners offer an objective viewpoint on your work. They can identify issues you might have missed due to your familiarity with the story.
Diverse Insights: Different readers bring unique experiences and preferences to your manuscript. This diversity of perspectives can highlight both strengths and weaknesses in your writing.
Identifying Weaknesses: Beta readers and critique partners can pinpoint areas that might not be immediately apparent to you. Whether it's character inconsistencies, plot holes, or pacing issues, their feedback is invaluable.
Tips for Working with Beta Readers and Critique Partners
Select the Right Readers: Choose beta readers or critique partners who have an interest in your genre and can provide constructive feedback. A mix of avid readers and writers can offer diverse insights.
Clear Guidelines: Provide clear guidelines or questions for your readers to focus on while reading your manuscript. This can help you receive specific and actionable feedback tailored to your needs.
Consider Diversity: Seek feedback from a diverse group of readers to get a range of perspectives and opinions. Different backgrounds and tastes can lead to well-rounded feedback.
Be Open to Criticism: Be prepared to receive both positive and negative feedback. Constructive criticism is essential for growth, and it's a sign that your beta readers care about helping you improve.
Take Your Time: Don't rush the feedback process. Give your readers ample time to read and provide their insights. Rushing can lead to incomplete or superficial feedback.
Ask for Specifics: Encourage your beta readers or critique partners to provide examples and specifics in their feedback. This makes it easier for you to understand and address their suggestions.

Improved OTW Board Meetings When?
It's October and the new OTW Board has been seated, and after that dumpster fire of a Board meeting on July 2, I want to know what they're going to do to prevent a repeat and I want them to come out here and tell us, so I've shoved yet another letter into the OTW Contact Form, and I encourage you to do the same.
Here's what I wrote:
Hello, and welcome to the new Board members! Following the astoundingly mismanaged July 2 public Board meeting, what changes do you plan to make to the way future meetings are run to make them more efficient, accessible, and organized? I ask that you announce these improvements now and allow for feedback from the public as it's important we know what to expect from these meetings, as well as what will be expected of us, and it's crucial they're moderated in such a way that provides guests sufficient time to ask questions about the agenda during the business at hand, as well as time to ask general questions regarding OTW projects, progress on the strategic plan, and the organization's work fulfilling its pledge to make the OTW and its platforms a safer, more inclusive space for fans of color. If you haven't yet decided on any changes, please commit to announcing them at least two weeks ahead of the next meeting. Thank you, Punk
Join me in calling on the OTW Board to explain how they're going to make future meetings functional and accessible to the public! You're welcome to borrow or adapt my letter. If you write your own letter, considering sharing it to encourage others, and please, spread the word.

Joe Philleo, the co-founder and CEO of Edia, leads the development of an AI-powered math platform designed for teachers and students, aiming to improve outcomes on state exams. The platform operates on the belief that education plays a crucial role in shaping individuals’ life trajectories. Edia’s mission is to create technology that ensures every student has access to an exceptional educational experience.
Currently, Edia collaborates with over 100 school districts across the United States, including prominent ones such as Fulton County, Loudoun County, and Palm Beach. These partnerships have demonstrated measurable success, with annual improvements in state math exam performance ranging from less than 2% to as much as 5-12%.
You made the bold decision to drop out of USC to work with Joe Lonsdale at 8VC, gaining exposure to groundbreaking tech projects. What were some of these projects?
Working with Joe Lonsdale at 8VC was an incredible opportunity. I left school when I was 20 years old to join his team, and it was my first exposure to Silicon Valley. Working in venture capital feels like living in the future—I met a lot of very smart people who were building self-driving cars, AI doctors, VR glasses, and new software systems to dramatically improve industry.
I spent a lot of time focused on defense, government, and education. I learned a lot. My biggest lesson from 8VC was the demystification of Silicon Valley. I grew up in Indiana, far away from any of this stuff. But spending time with Joe Lonsdale and other great entrepreneurs and investors made me understand that I could also make progress on solving big problems.
You’ve mentioned feeling disappointed that few top Silicon Valley teams were focused on K-12 education, which led you to start Edia in 2020. What specifically motivated you to tackle this gap in the education sector, and why did you feel the timing was right to launch Edia?
School has always been a personal obsession for me. I had three incredible teachers growing up who changed the trajectory of my life, and I also had some very bad experiences with teachers that pulled me in the other direction. Early on, I experimented with different ideas for how we could improve school. In 11th grade, I made a website called “booksarelong.com” to crowdsource AP textbook notes, and in college my friend and I applied Google’s PageRank algorithm to Wikipedia to build microcourses for all of human knowledge.
The real turning point came in 2020. Before then, only 10% of students in the United States had their own school-issued device, which severely limited how teachers and schools could use technology in their classrooms. Then, almost overnight, we went from 10% to 90% of students having devices because of the Covid-19 pandemic. In June 2020, OpenAI launched GPT-3, and it was clear that this was the moment to build something that could shape K-12 education.
What were the initial challenges you and your team faced when building Edia? How did you overcome them?
From the beginning, our team has been led by incredible engineers and designers. So, building our breakthrough math product wasn’t easy, but it also wasn’t the hardest part. As outsiders to the space, it took us a long time to distinguish our breakthrough AI math solution from legacy products that made big claims but rarely delivered. We felt that we had to distinguish Edia by showing real impact, which led us to guarantee growth for districts that use Edia—i.e. if they don’t see measurable results within one year of implementing, we offer a full refund. That promise has been a game-changer for building trust.
Can you explain how Edia’s AI math coaching works to provide real-time, personalized feedback for students?
One of the surprising things we realized early on was how little progress had been made in math learning software. Even fundamental challenges like “how do you easily do math on a computer keyboard?” hadn’t been solved before. We invented a completely new way for students to type math, inspired by Pinyin—the method Chinese and Japanese speakers use to type thousands of characters on a keyboard. This innovation makes it easier for students to show their work on a computer than on paper. Once the work is digital, AI can analyze it to understand the student’s thinking, identify where they went wrong, and deliver personalized inline feedback. The learning experience adapts to each student’s needs in real-time.
How does your platform use data to support teachers with small group instruction and data-driven lesson planning?
Small group instruction is one of the most impactful strategies for secondary math teachers, but it’s also one of the hardest to execute. Teachers often have 120 students across multiple classes and subjects, and it’s nearly impossible to pinpoint every student’s gaps, band them together, and create personalized lessons for each group. That’s where Edia comes in. Our platform automatically collects data from classroom assignments, quizzes, and homework to map out exactly where each student is struggling. Then Edia automatically forms small groups and generates customized lesson plans and practice tailored to their needs. This makes small group instruction manageable for teachers and has a huge impact on student outcomes.
Chronic absenteeism is a significant challenge in many districts—how does Edia’s platform address this issue uniquely with AI?
Chronic absenteeism—defined as missing 10% of school or more—has doubled since 2020, and it’s one of the biggest challenges districts face today. The key to solving chronic absenteeism is twofold: districts need to (1) understand and address why students are missing school and (2) rebuild the community’s expectation that coming to class matters. Our platform uses AI to engage parents within minutes of a student missing class to ask why their child is absent.
This interaction reinforces the importance of attendance, and it helps administrators understand the root causes of absenteeism—whether it’s issues with a specific teacher, social anxiety, lack of transportation, or something else. Armed with this information, schools can take meaningful action to address the problem.
Could you tell us more about the AI-driven, multilingual communication system and how it helps to engage families in real-time?
Engaging families effectively requires breaking down communication barriers. Many schools struggle to connect with parents who speak different languages or don’t check traditional forms of communication. Our AI-driven platform tackles this by sending real-time messages in the family’s preferred language, using conversational AI to bridge the gap. For example, if a student misses class, the system immediately reaches out to that family in Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, or any other language to let the family know and ask for an explanation – and parents can easily just reply back. It ensures families stay informed and engaged, while also helping schools address issues proactively. It’s about creating a two-way dialogue that fosters trust and accountability.
What is your long-term vision for Edia? How do you see the platform evolving in the next few years?
Our mission is for every student to have an exceptional experience in school. We want kids to look back 20 years after graduating and think, “Wow, I was really lucky. I had such a great time in school.” That’s the kind of lasting impact we’re aiming for. Right now, we’re focused on solving challenges that block students from succeeding. We began by making math accessible for everyone, and we’ve been able to accelerate growth on state exams from 0-2% per year to 8-23% per year, which is incredible. This year, we launched our AI solution to address chronic absenteeism, which is another critical barrier for many students to succeed.
But the possibilities are endless. From improving school budgeting to rethinking the design of school buildings—why do so many schools look like prisons?—to tackling critical issues like school safety, there’s so much to be done. Schools should be places that inspire, support, and protect kids. We see it as Edia’s mission to take on these challenges and ensure schools provide the best environments for growth and learning.
How do you see AI shaping the future of K-12 education?
One of the most exciting possibilities with AI is solving what’s known as Bloom’s Two Sigma Problem. In 1984, Benjamin Bloom found that replacing classroom instruction with one-on-one tutoring could improve student performance by two standard deviations, bringing an average student to the top of their class. But the problem is scale: there are 60 million students in the U.S. and only about 3 million staff. We simply don’t have enough adults to provide personalized tutoring for every child.
That’s where AI comes in. With AI, we have a real chance to give every student the benefits of a tutor. AI can scale this kind of personalized instruction in ways that were never possible before, helping every child reach their full potential.
What is the most rewarding part of your work at Edia, and how does it align with your personal mission in education?
It’s seeing the impact we’re having in such a diverse range of schools and students. We work with large urban districts like Fulton County in Georgia, New York City, and Palm Beach in Florida. At the same time, we’re also helping some of the smallest, most remote schools in northern Alaska, where the only way to get there is by seaplane or boat.
Knowing that students anywhere in America—whether in the heart of New York City or in a tiny Alaskan village—are both getting access to the same cutting-edge AI technology is really fulfilling. We’re giving these kids the experiences, confidence, and support they need to reach their goals, no matter where they are or what their circumstances might be. It’s an incredible privilege to play even a small role in shaping their futures.
Thank you for the great interview, readers who wish to learn more should visit Edia.

In The Course of It ...
"You're my only Bambi, Bambi"
Ch-6
Tumblr media
The next few weeks were a whirlwind of preparation. Now that the semi-final lineup was announced, our training intensified even more. Every day was packed with vocal exercises, dance rehearsals, and occasional media training sessions. The stakes were higher than ever, and the pressure was mounting.
One afternoon, we were in the dance studio practicing a new routine. The atmosphere was tense, with everyone focused on perfecting each step. The dance instructor, a stern woman with a sharp eye, watched us closely, correcting even the smallest mistakes.
"Y/N, more energy in your movements," she called out, and I nodded, pushing myself harder.
As the session ended, we all collapsed onto the floor, drenched in sweat but satisfied with our progress. Soojin handed me a water bottle, and I took a long drink, grateful for the break.
"You're improving so much, Y/N," she said, smiling.
"Thanks, Soojin. You too," I replied, catching my breath.
Just then, Baekhyun walked into the studio, and the atmosphere shifted. We all stood up, instantly alert. He had that effect on us—his presence commanded attention.
"How's the practice going?" he asked, his gaze sweeping over the group.
"Good, Baekhyun-nim," we responded in unison.
He nodded, then walked over to the mirrors, where we had been practicing our routine. "Show me what you've been working on."
We quickly got into position, and the music started. As we danced, I could feel Baekhyun's eyes on us, analyzing every move. I pushed myself to give it everything I had, feeling the music flow through me.
When the routine ended, we stood there, panting and waiting for his feedback. Baekhyun smiled, a rare sight that instantly lifted our spirits.
"That was impressive," he said. "I can see the hard work you're putting in. Keep it up, and remember to always connect with the music. Make sure your emotions shine through."
His words were like fuel to a fire, reigniting our determination. As he left the room, I couldn't help but feel a flutter in my chest. Over the past few months, my admiration for him had only grown, but now it was becoming something more.
Later that evening, as I sat in the dormitory common room with Hana and Minseo, I found myself lost in thought.
"What's on your mind, Y/N?" Minseo asked, nudging me.
I hesitated for a moment before speaking. "It's Baekhyun… I can't stop thinking about him."
Hana looked up from her phone, her eyes widening. "You mean, like, a crush?"
I nodded slowly, feeling my cheeks flush. "Yeah, I think so. It’s just… he’s so talented, and he’s always so supportive. I know he’s our CEO, but I can’t help how I feel."
Minseo smiled softly. "It's understandable. He's a great guy, and he's been there for us through this whole process. But just be careful, Y/N. These feelings can get complicated."
"I know," I sighed. "But it's hard to ignore."
Hana patted my shoulder. "We're here for you, no matter what. Just take it one day at a time."
As we sat there, I realized that this crush was more than just admiration. It was something deeper, something that both excited and scared me. But I knew I had to keep my focus. The upcoming months would be crucial, and I couldn't afford any distractions.
Still, the thought of Baekhyun lingered in my mind, making my heart race every time I saw him. It was a feeling I would have to learn to navigate, especially with so much at stake.
The morning after the semi-final lineup announcement, the air in the dorms was filled with a mixture of relief and anticipation. We were all thrilled to have made it this far, but we knew the real challenge was only just beginning. Every day was a chance to prove ourselves, to show that we were worthy of the final lineup.
Despite the rigorous schedule, I found myself growing more confident with each practice session. My voice was strong, my dance moves were sharp, and I could feel myself improving in ways I hadn’t expected. I wasn’t struggling with high notes or complex choreography anymore. Instead, I was focused, driven by the goal ahead.
The days passed in a blur of rehearsals and meetings, with every moment spent refining our skills. Baekhyun often dropped by to observe our progress, offering tips and encouragement. Each time he entered the room, I felt a flutter of excitement—one that I tried to ignore but found increasingly difficult to dismiss.
One afternoon, after a particularly intense dance practice, I found myself alone in the vocal room, running through the song we were working on. The notes came easily, flowing from me without effort. I was so lost in the music that I didn’t notice when Baekhyun quietly slipped into the room.
“You’ve got a great voice, Y/N,” he said, startling me out of my focus.
I turned, heart skipping a beat. “Oh! I didn’t see you there.”
He smiled, stepping closer. “Sorry to interrupt. I just wanted to tell you that you’re doing really well. You’ve made a lot of progress.”
“Thank you,” I replied, trying to keep my voice steady despite the nervous flutter in my stomach.
“You seem more confident now,” he continued, leaning casually against the piano. “It’s good to see. Confidence is key in this industry.”
I nodded, unsure of what to say. Being around Baekhyun always left me a little tongue-tied, not because I was intimidated, but because I was starting to realize just how much I admired him—not just as an idol, but as a person.
He must have noticed my silence because he gave me a warm, encouraging smile. “Don’t let anything shake that confidence, okay? You’re exactly where you need to be.”
I smiled back, feeling a warmth spread through me at his words. “I won’t,” I promised.
As Baekhyun left the room, I sat back down at the piano, my fingers gently brushing over the keys. The notes I played were soft, almost reflective, as I tried to process the strange mix of emotions swirling inside me. I was focused on my training, determined to secure my place in the group, but there was no denying that Baekhyun was becoming a bigger part of my thoughts.
That evening, as I lay in bed, I replayed our conversation over and over in my mind. I couldn’t help but smile at the way he had looked at me, the way his words had lifted my spirits. It was becoming clear that my admiration for Baekhyun was turning into something deeper, something I hadn’t anticipated.
But as much as I found myself drawn to him, I knew I couldn’t let these feelings get in the way of my goal. I had worked too hard to let anything distract me now. With a deep breath, I closed my eyes, focusing on the future I wanted to achieve—a future where I was on stage, fulfilling the dream I had worked so hard for.
Yet, as I drifted off to sleep, Baekhyun’s smile lingered in my thoughts, a gentle reminder of the new and unexpected emotions I was beginning to grapple with.
Tumblr media
After the semi-final lineup was announced, the atmosphere in the dorms shifted. While the nine of us who made it were excited and motivated, there was an undeniable tension in the air. The trainees who hadn’t been selected tried to remain supportive, but some couldn’t hide their disappointment.
One trainee in particular, Eunji, seemed to take the news especially hard. Eunji was incredibly talented—a strong vocalist with sharp dance skills—and many of us had thought she was a shoo-in for the final lineup. But when her name wasn’t called, she grew distant, barely speaking to anyone.
At first, I tried to reach out to her. We had been close during the early stages of training, and it hurt to see her so upset. “Eunji, I know this is hard, but you’re so talented. I’m sure you’ll have other opportunities,” I told her one evening after practice.
She gave me a tight smile. “Thanks, Y/N. I’m fine. Just need some time to process, you know?”
I nodded, hoping she would bounce back soon. But as the days went on, things started to change. Eunji’s distant behavior became more pointed. She would make snide comments under her breath when we passed in the halls, and I started noticing that small things of mine would go missing—hair ties, practice notes, even my favorite water bottle. At first, I thought I was just being forgetful, but then it became clear that something was off.
One day, I was in the practice room going over choreography when I noticed my dance sneakers were missing. I was sure I had left them in my locker the night before, but they were nowhere to be found. I searched everywhere, growing increasingly frustrated. It was just another in a series of strange occurrences, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that Eunji had something to do with it.
Just as I was about to give up, Hana walked in, noticing the distress on my face. “What’s wrong?” she asked, concern evident in her voice.
“My sneakers are gone. I swear I left them in my locker last night, but now they’re missing,” I explained, running a hand through my hair in frustration.
Hana frowned. “This isn’t the first time something of yours has gone missing, right?”
I shook my head. “No, it’s been happening a lot lately.”
Hana seemed to consider something for a moment before speaking. “You think it could be Eunji?”
I hesitated. “I don’t want to accuse her without proof, but… I don’t know. She’s been acting so differently since the lineup was announced.”
Hana sighed. “I’ve noticed that too. She’s obviously hurt, but that doesn’t give her the right to mess with you like this.”
We decided to keep an eye on things, but I couldn’t let it consume me. The final evaluations were coming up, and I needed to stay focused. But the strange incidents didn’t stop. My sheet music would be rearranged, my practice outfits were swapped with ones that were too small, and once, I even found my vocal warm-up notes in the trash.
Despite everything, I did my best to push through. I spent more time in the practice rooms, working late into the night to make up for any setbacks. Baekhyun noticed my exhaustion one evening and pulled me aside. “You’re working hard, Y/N, but don’t burn yourself out,” he advised, his tone gentle.
“I just want to make sure I’m ready,” I replied, not wanting to reveal the turmoil I was facing.
He smiled at me, his eyes full of understanding. “You’re doing great. Just remember to take care of yourself too.”
His words gave me a sense of comfort, but they also made me more determined. I wasn’t going to let Eunji or anyone else sabotage my chances. I had worked too hard to let something like this take me down.
The final straw came a week before the next evaluation. I walked into the practice room early one morning and found a note taped to the mirror. It was in Eunji’s handwriting, and it read: “You’re not as good as you think. Give up before you embarrass yourself.”
My heart pounded in my chest as I stared at the note. I knew I couldn’t ignore this anymore. It was one thing to deal with minor inconveniences, but this was an outright attempt to break my spirit.
I took a deep breath, crumpling the note in my hand. I wasn’t going to give her the satisfaction of seeing me upset. Instead, I channeled all my anger and frustration into my practice. Every dance move was sharper, every vocal note stronger. I could feel myself improving, despite everything that was happening.
When the day of the final evaluation arrived, I was ready. I walked into the room with my head held high, determined to show everyone, including Eunji, that I wasn’t going anywhere.
As I performed, I could feel Baekhyun’s eyes on me, watching every move, every note. When I finished, there was a moment of silence before he stood up, clapping slowly. “Well done, Y/N,” he said, a proud smile on his face.
I felt a surge of pride and relief. I had done it. No matter what happened next, I knew I had given it my all.
As I left the room, I passed Eunji in the hallway. She didn’t say anything, just glared at me with a look that could cut glass. But I didn’t let it faze me. I had come too far to be brought down by her bitterness.
Hana was waiting for me outside, her face lighting up when she saw me. “How did it go?”
“I think it went well,” I replied, smiling. “I think I finally proved I belong here.”
And as we walked back to the dorms together, I knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, I was ready to face them head-on. I had earned my place in this group, and I wasn’t going to let anyone take it away from me.

Blog Post 9: A Lyric Essay in Progress
I'm focusing on my reflections after a peer feedback workshop for this blog post.
Tumblr media
My Lyric Essay started as a rough draft, a jumble of fragmented thoughts, vivid scenes, and raw emotions. The path was uncertain, but my goal was to create a link between my private thoughts and my public persona.
I started with the outline, printed each section separately, similar to the Google Maps essay, and spread the pages across the floor. Like piecing together a puzzle, I was exploring how each part resonated with the other. I then concentrated on the language, emphasizing specific phrases by extending them and streamlining others.
Tumblr media
Sharing drafts with my CNF classmates was invaluable. Someone pointed out a missing visual element that I hadn't noticed, and it became the primary focus. Someone advised me to incorporate more sensory details to create a stronger sense of place in my changing worlds.

Revision Insights
Tumblr media
While revising this essay, I realized that writing is as much about finding new ideas as it is about communicating them. As I stitched together the pieces, I gained a new understanding of the essay and the questions it raised.

Thank you for tagging me @celinou !!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
I've got 12 on my AO3! 9 ATLA/TLOK fics, and 3 Wednesday fics.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
46,759 words in total! Most of it is one shots so that tracks tbh, though I'm actually pretty impressed with how much that actually is, especially cause it doesn't count how much I've written for WIPs.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
#1) Scrapped Scenes, a Wenclair fic, at 1,632 kudos (which is frankly insane, I hadn't realized it got that much)
#2) Crying Wolf, another Wenclair fic, at 759 kudos
#3) And Iphigenia Felt Rage, a Yuezula fic, at 225 kudos
#4) The Future Looks Brighter Together, a Sokkla fic, at 163 kudos
And at #5) Yours In Body And Soul, another Sokkla fic, at 154 kudos
I'm not surprised the two Wenclair fics are on top by such a wide margin, I wrote those when the show had only just come out so the fandom was at its peak. Very glad that many people liked what I wrote though! Since most of the other fandoms I've written for (on ao3 or here) are a lot less active, it was a new experience!
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I usually do, but I do have to admit I've been struggling a bit with it recently 😅. I read them all, and I'm so grateful for them, but especially on fics that I had huge plans for still, and which are in no way close to progressing, I have this feeling like I should have a new chapter to offer when I do answer them. I'm blaming it on my social anxiety 😬
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Ooh, that's a hard one cause I definitely tend to go in a more fluffy, feel-good direction. But I'd have to say it's Keep Your Fire On A Leash (Let The Ashes Bring You Peace). It's a June/Azula oneshot, mainly focused on Azula dealing with the pyromania she developed in captivity (as a need to reclaim complete control over at least this aspect of her life). She tries to manage it a little by working in pottery, where continuous, constant temperature control is crucial to porcelain quality, but it's not perfect. It's not angsty per-se, but it's definitely more ambiguously neutral.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Oooh, I'd say it's a toss up between two of my fics:
The first is Not Alone, a TyZula band AU fic about Azula recovering from bottom surgery. I wrote it while I myself was still recovering from bottom surgery, and I wanted to explore a facet of trans characters journeys that isn't often discussed? It's a bit more niche, and I only recently made it open to anyone, not just ao3 users, so it's one of my less popular fics for sure, but it's very hopeful portrayal of a trans experience.
And the second is Yours In Body And Soul, a Sokkla soulmates AU, where soulmates bodyswap at night when either of them has had a bad day, in order to try to cheer them up. I got the idea from a korrasami fic called Paralyzed I read a while back, and changed the mechanics a little bit to make it work. It's definitely a more traditional happy ending, romantic getting together included (up to a point, they are still kids in the timeline so just an excited hug).
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I don't! Sometimes people disagree on one interpretation of something, but never disrespectful or anything, so I'm pretty happy!
9. Do you write smut?
I've tried it before in private, got some good feedback. But no, never anything that I'd share.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've ever written?
I'm not sure if ATLA/TLOK counts😂. I've had some ideas for crossovers though, and written a few draft snippets, I think it was a TLT/ATLA one, an ATLA/Shang-Chi, and a Naruto/ATLA one that I've actually posted a few snippets from on here if I remember correctly.
That last one was a Sakura reincarnated into Azula idea, to explore some interesting anti-imperialist ideals, because that's actually a blind spot Sakura has as well with Konoha. It's easy for her to fall into the same ideological fallacies as before, especially with the significantly lower usage of child soldiers in the Fire Nation making it seem like the epitome of peace and human rights to her. Like looking at the same problem in a different font, at a slightly different angle, it gives Sakura an opportunity for growth by maybe showing her some of the issues she had been ignoring or missing in Konoha, shaking some of her loyalty.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope, not as far as I'm aware!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Also nope, theoretically I could translate it in Dutch, but I'm a lot better at expressing myself in English I think, and almost every Dutch person can read English (especially on ao3), so I don't think it would add much. Maybe one day though!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I haven't, though it seems like it'd be very cool, I'd definitely be open to it!
14. What's your all time favorite ship?
God, don't make me choose 😭😭 I guess it's probably Chasefield? I'm such a sucker for those two it's unreal. Otherwise maybe Yuezula, Maizula or Sokkla? They each have such interesting possible dynamics, in such varying ways.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Again, that's a tough one cause I'm afraid I have a lot. I still have several half-written chapters of Getting Family Approval In Six Fool-Proof Steps (Cue The Fools, Sokka And Azula), as well as the start of a longer fic that continues on from And Iphigenia Felt Rage that I've fully outlined and would love to write someday but can't be sure I ever will. There's also Indelible Mark which I've been blocked on forever. As for WIPs that haven't even been partially published yet, I've got 11k for a Chasefield fic I've posted a scene or two for on here called Muse on My Mind, that I wish I could finish but I'm not confident I can manage any time soon. I've also got the start and the outline of a TLT griddlehark fic, where I'm absolutely in love with the premise and the twist I'm building it on, but which, again, I've not progressed much with in a good 6 months. There's a few others, but these are the ones I'd really like to finish at some point.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I love reading it, writing it I could do Dutch or Google translate a different language, but much preferably I'd be able to check it with someone who actually speaks the language for accuracy. Best to use some of the more advanced ao3 html uses to make a translation appear when you hover over it though, unless not understanding it is an important part of the reading experience, in which case people can look it up later if they want to.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
My very first fic was actually a The 100 song fic based on an opera song, which is too embarrassing so I won't share where it is🤐 I was like 17 so it's too embarrassing.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Tbh, it's either Muse on My Mind (the chasefield fic I mentioned that isn't posted anywhere except for 1 or 2 scenes on Tumblr), which is super fun because it's playing with the perspective of a character that just straight up doesn't understand half the plot happening in the background that is hinted at for the reader who does know. Oblivious characters too caught up in their own shit to pay attention are so so so much fun to write, especially when you have fun with it, implying things but never outright confirming it!
Otherwise it's Haunted By Runaway Ghosts. That one is a Sokkla fic that explores their past through flashbacks while Zuko and Katara are both grappling with the discovery of their niece and nephew they had no idea existed (or could exist). Which, not to brag, but from a technical standpoint I really think that one is probably one of the most skilled fics I've written and published, and it was so much fun to write and puzzle it all together; the slow build up and explanations slowly coming together to form the bigger picture, the hidden ties between locations in the show and events in the story and how they fit into each other perfectly - genuinely a joy to write (and if people are interested in reading it please do, imo it's on par with And Iphigenia Felt Rage, if in a pretty different style, definitely something I'd love for more people to enjoy the way I did writing it).
Thanks again for tagging me @celinou, this was very fun to do! I see you've already tagged @sourrind, who I'd have tagged as well, so next I'll tag @dawnsiren @ly0nstea and @likeadragonfruit , and of course whoever else wants to do it!

Remote Employee Training Strategies For Success
Tumblr media
In today’s fast-evolving business landscape, the shift towards remote work has become a prominent trend. With this shift, companies are faced with the challenge of maintaining high standards of performance, engagement, and productivity among their remote teams. A crucial part of this is employee training. Effective remote training programs are essential for ensuring that employees are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed, no matter where they are working from. In this article, we’ll explore several strategies for successful Virtual employee training.
#1 Develop Clear and Structured Training Programs
One of the first steps to ensuring a successful training experience for remote employee is to create a clear and structured program. Unlike in-person training, where employees can ask questions or get immediate feedback, remote training often happens asynchronously. Your training materials should be organized, easy to follow, and concise to make this process as effective as possible.
Break down complex information into manageable modules, use visual aids, and incorporate interactive elements to keep employees engaged. A well-structured training program allows Virtual employees to progress at their own pace while ensuring that the content is comprehensive and easy to understand.
#2 Leverage Technology to Enhance Learning
Tumblr media
Technology is the backbone of remote work and plays a crucial role in Virtual employee training. Using the right tools can make a significant difference in how employees interact with training materials. Video conferencing platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams are essential for live training sessions, allowing employees to participate in real-time discussions, ask questions, and receive immediate feedback.
Additionally, learning management systems (LMS) like Moodle or TalentLMS can help organize and track training content. These systems allow for self-paced learning, quizzes, and certifications. Incorporating multimedia elements such as video tutorials, infographics, and interactive simulations can also help employees retain the information better and keep them engaged throughout the training process.
#3 Foster a Culture of Continuous Learning
Virtual training should not be a one-off event; it must be an ongoing process. Virtual employees often face the challenge of isolation and may miss out on spontaneous learning opportunities that arise in a traditional office setting. Therefore, it’s important to create a culture that encourages continuous learning.
This can be achieved by providing regular learning resources, encouraging employees to pursue online courses, and organizing regular webinars or knowledge-sharing sessions. Incentivizing employees to learn new skills, such as offering certifications or rewards for completing training, can also drive engagement and improve long-term retention of knowledge.
#4 Provide Personalized Learning Paths
Tumblr media
Not all employees learn in the same way or at the same pace. A one-size-fits-all approach to training can lead to disengagement or frustration, especially for employees who might already have expertise in certain areas. Personalizing the learning experience is an effective way to meet the individual needs of each employee.
Assess the current skill levels of your remote team members and tailor training programs to match their specific learning requirements. For example, some employees may need more foundational training, while others may benefit from advanced modules. Personalized learning paths also allow employees to focus on areas where they need the most improvement, ultimately leading to more efficient skill development.
#5 Prioritize Communication and Feedback
Clear communication is essential in any training program, but it becomes even more important when working remotely. Regular feedback helps ensure that Remote team members stay on track and feel supported throughout the training process. Incorporate opportunities for real-time feedback through virtual check-ins, one-on-one meetings, and surveys.
Be proactive in providing employee feedback on performance and areas for improvement, while also being open to suggestions on how the training can be improved. Encourage employees to ask questions and seek clarification when needed. This two-way communication helps build trust and enhances the overall effectiveness of the training program.
#6 Create an Engaging and Collaborative Environment
Tumblr media
Training doesn’t have to be a solitary experience, even for remote teams. Encourage collaboration among employees during the training process. This can be achieved through group activities, peer learning, or discussion forums where employees can share insights, challenges, and best practices. Platforms like Slack or Microsoft Teams can be used for team discussions, brainstorming sessions, and informal learning.
A sense of community is vital for remote workers, and fostering this environment during training helps employees feel more connected to their colleagues and the company. In turn, this engagement increases the likelihood of successful knowledge retention and application.
#7 Measure Training Effectiveness
Once your Remote team member training program is in place, it’s important to regularly assess its effectiveness. Use analytics to track employee progress, completion rates, and quiz results. Collect feedback from employees about their learning experiences and identify areas where the training can be improved.
Monitoring training effectiveness helps ensure that your efforts are paying off and that employees are gaining the necessary skills to succeed. Continuous evaluation also helps you stay updated with new training tools or methodologies that can enhance the learning experience.

Choosing the Best SEO Company in the USA for Long-Term Success

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) plays a big role in making your website visible on search engines like Google. Hiring the right SEO company is key if you want your website to rank higher and get more traffic. The best SEO company in the USA can help your business grow online and get long-term results. But how do you choose the right one?
What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It is the process of improving your website so that search engines like Google can find it easily. SEO involves using the right keywords, creating quality content, and making your website easy to navigate. When done right, SEO helps your website rank higher in search results, which brings more visitors to your site.
Why is SEO Important for Businesses? For any business, being found online is very important. Most people search for services or products online before making a purchase. SEO helps your website appear at the top of search results when people search for words related to your business. It leads to more visitors, potential customers, and business growth. How to Choose the Best SEO Company in the USA? Choosing the best SEO company USA is not an easy task. There are many options available, but not all companies can deliver the same quality of results. Here are some important factors to consider when choosing the right SEO company: Experience and Reputation
The first thing you should check is the experience and reputation of the SEO company. Look for a company that has been in the business for a long time and has worked with businesses similar to yours. A company with a good track record of success will likely help you achieve your SEO goals.
Understanding of Your Industry
It is important that the SEO company understands your industry and business needs. If they have experience working with businesses in your field, they will know what works best for your target audience. It will help them create an SEO strategy that is effective and tailored to your business. Services Offered
Different SEO companies offer various types of services. Some may focus on on-page SEO, while others specialize in link building, local SEO, or technical SEO. Choose a company that offers a full range of services and can handle all aspects of SEO for your website. Transparent Reporting
The best SEO company USA will provide regular reports on the progress of your SEO campaign. These reports should include data on how your website performs, what keywords rank, and what changes have been made to improve your SEO. Transparent reporting helps you understand the results and measure the campaign's success. Affordable Pricing
Pricing is an important factor when choosing an SEO company. The best SEO companies offer quality services at a reasonable price. Be careful of companies offering meagre prices, as they may not deliver the desired results. Always look for a company that provides value for money. Custom SEO Plans
SEO is not a one-size-fits-all service. The best SEO company USA will create a custom SEO plan based on your business goals and needs. They should not use the same strategy for all their clients. Each business is unique, and the SEO strategy should reflect that. Customer Reviews and Testimonials
Before making your decision, read reviews and testimonials from previous clients. It will give you a better idea of the company's quality of service and the results they have achieved for other businesses. Positive feedback and success stories are a good sign that the company is reliable. Conclusion -
Choosing the best SEO company in the USA is crucial for your business's long-term success. You can make an informed decision by considering factors such as experience, reputation, services offered, pricing, and customer feedback. You wrote once, something I interpreted that when choosing partners/friends we can look for confirmation of ourselves by choosing personality types that are very similar or opposites, so that they complement us Ok, I'm an ENTJ and I try to make a good connection with every personality type, thanks to this blog I'm able to appreciate something in everyone However, I have noticed that I am by far the most fond of ENTP, ENFP, INTJ, INFJ, INTP. With the rest, it is rather difficult for them to really like me Assuming we are trying to win the favour of each personality type, what does it say about us which types like us and which don't? Are there cognitive functions which are crucial?
What is motivating your question? Why do you think it's important to try and make a good connection with every personality type? What are you hoping to achieve exactly? It is necessary to ask because some people are obsessed about being liked by everyone, some people can't handle being disliked, some people get a kick out of being able to "conquer" others, etc. I'm not saying any of these apply to you; I'm only making the point that it's important to be completely transparent about your motivation. If it's coming from a less than wholesome place, it might lead you in the wrong direction, developmentally.
Perhaps you hope to improve your ability to connect with people because you genuinely care about forming healthy relationships with them. If that's the case:
There are qualities and virtues you can nurture to make yourself a better friend, companion, or helper. For example: loyalty, trustworthiness, reliability, warmth, kindness, supportiveness, agreeableness, cooperativeness, patience, compassion, tolerance, acceptance, inclusivity, authenticity, integrity, sincerity, openness, curiosity, adaptability, humor.
There are skills you can build to facilitate the formation of meaningful relationships such as: listening, conversation, communication, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, empathy or perspective taking, problem solving.
By working on these things, you generally become a more attractive friend or companion, and people will naturally be more drawn to you. In a nutshell, no matter the type, if people feel at ease and even feel good about being in your presence, they'll want to be around you more.
The list of types you are fond of is fairly predictable. They include all your fellow NTs (same temperament). They are all N types, which speaks to a disconnect with Sensing and Sensors. Among them, only two are Fs, but it is no coincidence that they are the very two F types that most closely resemble NTs. This speaks to a disconnect with Feeling and Feelers.
These patterns seem to suggest that lack of development of your lower two functions sometimes impedes your ability to get along better with the types that didn't make your list. As your type development progresses, assuming it progresses well, you should get a better and better idea of how to appeal to Sensors and Feelers. It is not a matter of me telling/teaching you what to do. It is a matter of you being able to truly identify with them. Appreciating things about people, as though they are an object of art, isn't the same as really understanding and deeply relating with them.
Perhaps you want to know if there is anything about your ENTJness that is repelling certain types. From the feedback I've heard about ENTJs in general, one of the issues at the heart of their relationship conflicts is a lack of understanding. People feel as though the ENTJ doesn't really know them, either because the ENTJ simply can't or they won't make the effort. This is not entirely the fault of ENTJs. With inferior Fi, it is genuinely difficult for them to understand people sometimes. Maybe it helps to think of the inferior function as a kind of "disability", which means we all have this disability. You have to learn to accept it and find ways to compensate as necessary.
Your question also seems to be about the mysterious idea of relationship "chemistry". It is a complicated concept because there are numerous factors that play into it, some of which are beyond awareness and control. Yes, function compatibility plays a role as mentioned, but sometimes it is a small role compared to more pressing factors such as attachment style or very specific personal/psychological needs that remain hidden from public view.
If you've put in a reasonable effort to reduce function misuse and mitigate the negative characteristics of your type, then you ought to feel good about the positive aspects of your ENTJness and wear them proudly. However, remember that some people will be put off not only by your negative ENTJ characteristics, but also the positive ones, because they are suffering personality development issues that distort positives into negatives. For example, some people see "kindness" and call it "weakness", because they have some deeper issue of fearing exploitation. These psychological issues create a wall in relationships and there's not much you can do about them because you aren't the right person to change their mind. The existence of these psychological walls means some people just aren't relationship-ready, unable to meet you halfway no matter how much effort you put in.
An important aspect of being good at relationships is understanding when a relationship isn't meant to be. You can't compel people to like you. With inferior Fi, it might be difficult for you to fully grasp, but some people like what they like and they just don't like you. There may be no rhyme or reason other than it is just their preference and you don't meet it. If someone just loves apples, you shouldn't blame yourself for not being an apple. There's nothing you can do about such cases because it's really not about you on any personal level. When there is a lack of chemistry and it doesn't appear to be anyone's fault or doing, it's best to accept the fact and move on.
