I know plenty of people have already made a version of the "Jinx is alive" theory post but I've also seen so many of you mourn her death that I decided to gather all the evidence and make another post, turning this theory into a fact.

Because Jinx is alive. It's not a speculation. It's literally there.

The first thing I'm going to mention are the context clues Jinx gives herself. First, the last thing the ghost of Silco tells her. I think the cycle only ends when you find the will to walk away. Then, the realization she comes to when Vi hugs her in the cell. You're never gonna give up on me, are you? What she tells Vi after she leaves her in that cell. You don't need to worry about me anymore. [...] And yes, her initial plan is to kill herself, because she thinks the only way for Vi to move on is for her to be gone. And Ekko gets there just in time to stop her but it looks like he doesn't convince her to abandon her plan, just change it.

And later, when she joins Vi in the final fight. What does she tell her? Still don't get it, huh, sis? I'm always with you. Even when we're worlds apart.

Everything that happens after is constructed specifically to let us and Vi believe that Jinx died. Until we get to this scene:

Caitlyn is studying the Hexgates designs.

She's looking through the pages depicting the place where the final fight happened, specifically focusing on the air vent shafts, while toying with a monkey bomb head - the same monkey bomb that Jinx used in her supposed last monents.

She looks down at the monkey...

Watch the eyes. The realization hits her...

And she smirks, knowing. Jinx used one of the air vents to escape before the explosion.

I've studied the explosion frame by frame. First, a small yellow explosion goes off - Jinx sets off the monkey bomb.

As it becomes bigger, she shoots out of there

this is still the beginning of the blast when we can still see her, and the big boom that destroys everything starts 10 frames later

Last context clue is a reference to the very first episode, which is clearly depicted in this gifset here, so instead of explaining, I'll just send you there to check for yourselves.

One thing that is speculation here is, how exactly did Caitlyn come into possession of the monkey bomb head? I doubt she found it there because it would have been turned to dust. And I'm thinking, Jinx took it with her and left it for Cait to find as a clue. She didn't want Vi to know but maybe she wanted Cait to figure it out. I imagine her sneaking into her house and maybe leaving it somewhere for Cait to find, like her desk or something. It gives Cait an idea, a gut feeling she needs to check, and that allows her to figure it out. Just like we are supposed to figure it out on our own.

Bottom line, Jinx is alive. She escaped the explosion through the air vents, then boarded the airship and left the city, convinced that the only way to give her sister a happy ending is to take herself out of the equation. The glitching closing shot saying The End in Jinx's colorful handwriting is a sign that she is telling us that this is where this story ends, like she's saying "don't look for me. It's over." That's also probably why we aren't shown what Caitlyn does with the information she now possesses.

totally random question but do you read supercorp fics? and if yes, which ones are your favorites?

i absolutely read supercorp fics! i've been devouring ao3 basically since i finished the show. here are a few of my faves: people will say we're in love by AKAWWJJD - this was recommended to me by a friend and was the second ever supercorp fic i read. it's angsty, but it's BEAUTIFUL and it's one of my favorite fics from any fandom, ever. it's basically a rewrite of crisis and the aftermath of that (with a heartbreaking, post-reveal beginning), and it's just so, so good. it really set the bar for me in terms of supercorp fics and i still think about it to this day. it's heartbreaking and poignant and just. perfect.

the banks of certain rivers and ever more light by @i-am-robie - these two go together, but if you only read one, read ever more light (although i highly suggest reading both). i found this one through a gifset based on the fic, and i am SO happy i did. this is the fic that made me believe in fluff again. i'm not kidding, before i found this fic, if it wasn't tagged as angst, i was not reading it. this one? completely changed my opinion. it's so soft and sweet and it gives you the same butterflies and good feelings kara gets around lena. i actually love these so much that i am in the process of binding them into a book.

same old blues by @searidings - this one is, in my opinion, hands down the best portayal of lena i've read so far. it captures her anger and hurt and emotions so well and it just feels exactly like lena. it picks up after the end of season four and is exactly how i imagine lena's reaction to kara being supergirl. obviously it's canon divergent, but this one just really nails lena. it's angsty and emotional and just SO good. the author describes it as "horny enemies to lovers" in their note and that really sums it up pretty well.

you're in my blood, like holy wine by @jazzfordshire - this one is one of my favorite AUs. it's a loose practical magic AU with witch!lena, but much more developed and fleshed out than in the show. not only does it have really well written supercorp, but it also showcases a really well done friendship between lena and sam. i'm gonna be real i'm very picky about AUs, but this one GOT me. i definitely recommend it.

i also highly recommend checking out all four of those authors' other works. robie has an AU that i really enjoyed, searidings has a fun little competitive supercorp one shot, jazzfordshire has one of my favorite smutty one shots, and AKAWWJJD has a mxy rewrite that is just wonderful.

i've read so many more that were really worth reading, so i highly recommend scrolling through the supercorp tag on ao3 and filtering out the results to find ones you might be into. i could've mentioned a bunch more that i enjoyed, but i figured i'd keep it to my top four and the honorable mentions because the authors all happened to have multiple i love. i've also got like, more than 40 open ao3 tabs currently, so i know my favorites list will definitely be growing.

okay so I was thinking about when the player first meets Gale, he immediately clocks them as coming from the nautiloid even though A) we never see him anywhere on the nautiloid, and B) we don't psychically link with him via the tadpoles during his introduction.

this has been plaguing my brain because it leaves two options. either 1) Gale correctly deduces the player was on the nautiloid just because why else would they be out there in the wreckage, or 2) he encountered the player sometime before they pulled him out of the broken sigil but didn't/couldn't approach them for one reason or another.

so this is my roundabout way to ask if you have any headcanons and/or theories of why Gale recognizes the player right from the jump. I'm inclined to think that he saw the player on the ship some point before it starts to crash, because when he brings it up, he starts with "I know you, don't I?" which, to me, makes it seem like he recognized them rather than made an assumption about them. but I would love to hear your thoughts about it!

i also do find it very, very interesting that both in early access and in full release, gale recognises the player right away.

this is his intro after he appears from the netherese teleportation rune from early access:

Glad to see my eyes deceived me. I’m Gale. Well met! Player (Option 1): Well met. You were on the ship as well, I presume? Gale: The very same. A traumatising experience – if an instructive one.

and his intro from full release is, as you've already mentioned:

Gale: Say, but I know you, don't I? In a manner of speaking. You were on the nautiloid as well. Player: I was, yes. Gale: Then I can only assume you too were on the receiving end of a rather unwelcome insertion in the ocular region.

i do think, with the way both introductions are worded, that it's extremely likely that gale did see the player on the ship.

now where we can speculate is where and how that may have taken place.

the early access dialogue implies that the protag was not in a pod when gale saw them, despite them waking up in one when the game begins, just as in the full release version.

we do know that captured victims are immediately placed inside a pod when they're captured from the trailer/intro cinematic:

which makes it likely that gale saw the protag while having been taken out of the pod and maybe guarded by intellect devourers, or perhaps transported somewhere, or even after an escape attempt they do not remember.

as for gale himself, we do know that wizards are able to manipulate the pods themselves to open them with a successful dice roll:

we also do know that gale is master of his craft as a prodigy, ex-chosen, archwizard, scholar and researcher, and graduate of blackstaff academy. it doesn't seem unlikely to me that he may have found a way to break out of his own pod to try and escape what would surely otherwise be a death sentence for him and others for multiple reasons.

i do think gale's wording again makes it sound as if though he'd already escaped the pod in which he was likely trapped in, too:

Player: Never mind the nautiloid. How did you get stuck in that stone? Gale: I don't know what transpired exactly, but the ship broke into pieces and I suddenly found myself in freefall. Gale: As I was plummeting to certain death, I spied a glimmer quite near where I estimated my body to impact with less-than-savoury propulsion. Gale: Recognising this glimmer to be magical in nature, I reached out to it with a Weaving of words and found myself on the other side as it were. Gale: How about you? How did you survive the fall? Player: To be honest, I haven't a clue. Gale: Fair enough. But even so, I have the unfortunate suspicion your survival is still very much in jeopardy.

as for the mind link (which can happen later at camp), i do think it's also important to keep in mind that just because the player doesn't feel the mind link or connection or even so much as a tickle of the tadpole, it's not unlikely that gale can feel it from his side. his mental defences are high enough so that the player can't sense the tadpole, but i don't think that is necessarily the same for gale.

so, all in all, i do think, considering everything we know, the most likely scenario here is that gale saw the protag - perhaps even while trying to orient himself / try to find a way out - on the ship and that the player does not remember him for whatever reason - and given the circumstances here, those reasons could be plentiful (unconsciousness, disorientation, dazedness like the woman we found trapped in a pod adjacent to the room we find shadowheart in, etc.).

tell me what you think--did Benson plan on killing everybody in the restaurant? did he plan on killing himself after? did he expect to spare Randy, or was he on the fence? was he gunning for Chris and Chris alone and anticipating having to improvise?

I just love the way this scene plays out and how, despite the horrific violence, there's still something undeniably human about Benson as he goes about it. I would LOVE to hear your take!!

Holy shit my response is so long and rambling I'm so so sorry but uhhhh here's my thoughts under a cut to save people's dashboards from my dumb brain 🙈

Omg so yes this is something I think about ALL the time. Chris is, of course, a definite 100%. He was basically dead the moment he grabbed Benson's shoulder and said "...I'll have no problem turning your peaceful redneck existence into a living hell..." Benson warned him, gave him a chance to back down from bullying Randy, but Chris doubled down so RIP lol. Which was the spark that lit the first fuse.

The rest I think may have been improvised a bit but not by much. I think he planned on killing everyone, except Randy, but wasn't sure how exactly it would all go down. There's a chance Hardy might not have heard Jess screaming and never come out of the back. Which that alone I find funny that it was Jess' shrieking and not the two shotgun blasts that managed to rip him away from his morning jerk off session. So Benson might have planned on getting Hardy in the office by surprise after doing in Chris and Jess.

Jess is interesting because Benson tries to quiet her first before getting frustrated and shooting her to shut her up. Like, was bro gonna give her some speech before offing her? I wouldn't be surprised. Something about not dating entitled dickheads? I get why some people think he might not have killed her if she stopped screaming, which is a fair theory! But I also think she's been clearly joining in on the bullying and egging on Chris with her little comments and giggling like she had been earlier that morning. So I think she was already firmly on his kill list by that point, plus she would have no use to him other than being another witness—and the whole thing wasn't about her, it was about Randy, so dragging her around with them, or leaving her behind, would be pointless and risky.

Randy Randy Randy. I don't think he ever intended on killing Randy at any point, except maybe there being the risk of it happening when he was shaken after the whole Sheppard situation. At that point, Benson was so out of his own body I think almost anything could've happened, though ultimately I don't think that would've ever been on purpose, only in a knee-jerk reaction. I do think it was a liiittle bit of a test. I think Benson, like he said in the diner (the first round lol) that seeing Randy just stand there doing nothing and waiting for Benson to kill him was the only thing he believed in. He, like Benson mentioned, had been watching Randy and knew he was smart, but also knew he wouldn't do anything to stop what was happening. But I think a small part of him was hoping he would be proved wrong, hoping Randy would do something and show some agency.

And then there's Benson. I've mentioned this before but yeah, I think throughout the film he kinda goes back and forth on having a deathwish. I think when he's having his smoke and probably semi-planning what he's gonna do he is also fully aware that this is the end of the road for him and Randy is his... I don't know, I guess one last chance at redemption before ending things. Pulling Randy back from the brink of dead-end small town small thinking monotony is his like... last hurrah. Ok well maybe killing Chris and everyone is really the last hurrah, but helping Randy figure his shit out is like his last good deed, helping Randy not end up like him. When they're driving to the diner after cleaning up BBB he's in high spirits. The relaxation and acceptance phase of his road to inevitable death/suicide. But then as things progress and he learns more about Randy and everything, once they reach the school, I think at that point he had stepped back from the ledge and was thinking, maybe wishfully thinking, that he could make it out of there. But then Sheppard had to show up and ruin everything. I think Benson had started to think that maybe things could be alright, if only he could get Randy to Ms. Beard's, get that checked off the to-do list, and then they could try escaping. But Sheppard appears and reminds Benson that no matter what he can never escape. He'll never escape what happened to him, the things he's tried to forget, or who he is. So at that point it's like trying to save a sandcastle from an incoming tide. There's no use. Benson didn't have the tools to deal with seeing Sheppard, especially not on a day like that day when he had already spilled blood three times. Chris and them, maybe they deserved it to an extent in Benson's eyes, but no one deserved it more than Sheppard. So after Sheppard he's given himself whiplash. He had accepted his death, then got hopeful, and then had the ceiling cave in on him causing him to have to re-accept his fate, though not as steadfast. There's a few points after Sheppard where it feels like Benson is mentally clawing at the oncoming events in panic. Ms. Beard getting that call and answering it before they could leave. Benson hearing the sirens after Randy calls the cops. Both times it looks like he's reliving some cosmic disappointment like even though he's had to re-accept his fate, he's still desperately looking for an off-ramp. I think that's maybe what Benson means at the end. "I was never in charge, Randy." His fate or inevitable end was in charge and was something he'd already considered set in stone. Though I think that's also due to some self-sabotage. Like Randy tried to tell him, he had the opportunity to just run and never look back but instead decided to go on some self-assigned white knight quest for Randy in circles around town. Following some perceived path to "fix" Randy in ways Benson could never fix himself. Benson is a walking self-fulfilling prophecy. So to answer your question about whether I think Benson planned on killing himself after killing Chris, Jess, and Hardy (and after "helping Randy")—in my opinion, yes, I believe so. But I also think it switches back and forth from yes to no like 15 times between them leaving BBB and watching the cops pull into the diner parking lot that night, lol.

Heh. This should still be Zaddy Cop and about Tim, but I do love this song. It's insanely catchy. Yes Celina, dance girl! Eh, you know, Bailey and Nolan have grown on me. I still don't like when they take up so much time in episodes all the time, every now and then is fine, but it is what it is. God, Grey and Luna are the cutest. Department mum and dad will always save the day. Oh Aaron, baby.

Tim honey no, you need to talk. I do get it though. They're both deflecting and frustrated and it's so much easier to talk about things in the future instead of the now. And just keep putting off that future for the next future. Tim and Lucy I love you deeply and you work together so well, but your personal communication issues really need some work. Lady, get your dog to the vet right away. Why would you even wait?! Ugh. Monica. I can't even appreciate Oscar anymore because of Monica. Oh Lucy. Her coffee tumbler really is a little support blanket for her. Someone hug her, please. Angela, honey. You are in the line of fire, stay safe. But also please work your magic and get them back together in S7. Or help them in S7. They need to work on themselves to get back together, but please. Work that magic. Because the writers dropped the ball on your supportive nature in S6 and I need it back thank you. Just clinging to the little moments where they smile at each other or she touches his arm and he touches her back. Drinking raindrops off of petals in the desert. The gifsets are right. Tim was never going to let Lucy fight The Hammer. But I do love the teasing. The little 'you got this'. And how she gets so concerned as the fight progresses. She's mad at him but no-one hurts her man. I mean, in reality both these men are severely injured at this point, but reality is dull. Ugh. Writers why would you do this very obvious thing to us only to have them break up a few episodes later? You better give us the real deal in S7 I swear to god. I want a proposal by then end of S7. I mean maybe S8 would be more natural progression for a slow burn back together, but I'm not sure I can wait for S8. I think they're safe from cancellation, so we don't have to worry about the show getting cancelled before we get proper resolution, but still. I'd just rather it sooner. You never know what might happen down the line. I do love Chastity, I have to say. Pete is always a bit eh for me, but Chastity has grown on me so much.

Tim, you're pretty much spot on. And Chastity, so insightful. It's absoltuely true that Tim does have an issue with it, but yeah. Ugh, I just really needed Lucy to acknowledge she's scared and deflecting. Maybe in S7 I guess. Her cute little smile though when she's off the call from Tim. Mad or not, she loves her man deeply. Nyla's 'run'. But also Nyla's accidental foreshadowing, since Lucy is severely lacking a support system outside of Tim. I mean she isn't, the writers just really dropped the ball and made it look like she did. Oh his soft smile, his soft eyes. Just for her. Also my god, she knows exactly what she's doing to him when she gets in so close. God they're so tactile with each other. So the bug question is a baseline, she already knows the answer and this just confirms it properly. I think the same is true for the love question. I don't think this is the first time he's said it to her, because she's not surprised or giddy or overjoyed. She looks at the monitor to confirm what she already knows, because he's said it before. I wish we'd seen it before but nothing can convince me otherwise unless they say it in canon. And then they're wrong. It's a cute moment, I love it, but no way these two haven't said this before. If it was the first time she would 100% say it back then and there. Like in S5, knowing and being okay are two different things. I think if she'd asked if he supported her being a UC then it might have come back as true. But wanting and supporting are two different things. I mean lie detectors are nonsense anyway but in the universe of the show, we'll trust it. But he supports her. Even if he wishes he didn't. But having been through what he has, seen what he has? I'm glad it helps him confront the fact he's been forcing his real feelings down, but I wish we'd had a reversal for Lucy too. Her using the lie detector, realising she's deflecting, and she's a lot more unsure of UC than she realised. Wesley and James, you sweetpeas. I wish I could just wear a suit. Them not turning up together hurts so much though. I like to think maybe she got there early to help out with preparations. She's obviouly a little bit miffed but I want to think they always planned to go separately anyway. Luna, absolute angel. Lucy next to her bff James. Now he knows Aaron isn't a threat but he also knows he's drunk and a bit too much, so he slides an arm around Lucy to keep her close to him, and makes sure to keep Aaron the other side and at arm's length away. Lucy instantly looking for Celina because she can sense something happened. Celina, this is why you tell people where you're going please. After last time with Aaron when you said you should've called it in. Okay so Lucy and Tim totally made out in some secret dark corner. Maybe not full on hooking up, but that woman has a smile and some pep in her step. They absolutely made out. A lot. I need more fics of that too, thank you. And just general after the wedding and saving Celina fics. Those two need some make-up sex. Stat.

And to answer your question about how I started watching -- 911 was a show always a show on my 'to watch' radar but I didn't give it much thought? I did watch s1 of lone star tho. until then I saw bi Buck on my dash for the first time after Tommy kisses him and i just went oh??!??! 👀👀 I binge watched season 1 and 2, and then I gave up and ended up watching s7 part 2 live while also watching s3 for the first time 🤣 there were some gaps I had to fill using fanon knowledge but I think it worked? And now I'm furiously trying to watch s4 around my busy work schedule before s8 airs 😅🤣

oh! same here! i'd known about it for years but i'd just avoided it thinking it was just a different take on the same old tired procedural cop shows, or maybe something too dramatised like grey's anatomy. i'm not sure i even realised it was about firefighters until i heard people referring to it as 'the gay firefighter show' and even then i didn't really connect the dots.. 🔥👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨🚒

one of my fave spn blogs (bc i was a destiel girlie before the gay firefighter show consumed my life) was a 911 fan so i learned about bi!buck through her blogging (shoutout to @sunglassesmish: kay, you have changed my life for the better 😚🫶). i mean, i came from spn - where bi!dean is widely considered unacknowledged canon and it's a show now several years past its finale but with a dedicated fanbase still hoping for some kind of reboot or movie or something to fix the shit they did in the finale - to a show with a canon bi character, moreover a character in his 30s who had been presumed (by some)/written as (sorta) straight for 6 whole seasons. and evan buckley.. he's so much like dean wincester: the all american heroic ladies man with a traumatic upbringing and a megawatt smile and babygirl features and a heart of gold who just wants to be loved.. honestly i could write essays about these two.. ✍️

i love that we're on the same page! i started with season 7 (i watched 7x05 and onwards live) and got through seasons 1-3 while s7 was airing week to week, and so my buck knowledge was growing as i excitedly waited for the next ep to air with the rest of fandom (there's just something about that weeklong anticipation, i've missed it so much - the theorising, the time for fanworks, etc). 📺

i was also the same, trying to learn what i could through dash osmosis of the seasons i hadn't watched yet (i knew vaguely about the lightning strike and tried not to spoil myself too much about the family secret but reading fic and meta blew those doors wide open 😅). and even in season 1 i was like: i'm so glad he'll grow to be that person in season 7 one day, that he'll get to be vulnerable and open and earnest and loved and also get kissed by a handsome guy. 🥰

OMG WE ARE BOTH ON SEASON 4!! 🥳 i mean, i knew that, but it's still so exciting to know there are folks out there in the same boat! ⛵ i don't think i've liveblogged any other ep besides Buck Begins, but i think i'll probably do a lightning strike/coma liveblog when i get to it.

omg the amount of bucktommy fics i've consumed since april.. i remember in those early days i was consuming every single fic that got posted on ao3 - about a dozen 1k fics a day - until eventually there was 60+ fics a day and i couldn't keep up, but i'm still reading about 2-5 fics (mostly short ones) a day. this fandom is hella talented. 📚

i do very much enjoy how thoroughly in you get with this one. we're stuck to the sidelines with the rest of the listeners tagged on twitter and whatnot, watching certain spirals come out and the plot thicken. their voices are so real in my head throughout, without any moment of doubt. i think i laughed right from the summary and didn't stop.

Did you watch the first look trailer of season 3 for The Cleaning Lady? I was wondering where Arman was only to read the comments to find out the actor actually passed away :( I don't know what of but the show is ruined for me now we're never getting them together now. Honestly, for me season 2 sucked this is why I hate slow burns I hate love triangles as well though.

Yes, I saw it a few weeks ago. And honestly it looks like yet another version of season one with this time, a wish version of arman's character.

I hated season two too, and I think I spent all my time criticizing it when it aired. I wasn't sure I was going to continue watching the series well before I heard about Adan Canto's death, because of the way the writers were telling "thony and arman" story. With Adan Canto's death, I'm even less inclined to watch, that's for sure.

If the writers were true to the characterization of Arman and Thony, Armany would have been canon last season. I know they both wanted each other, but the fact that they weren't together and didn't acknowledge their feelings for each other the entire season didn't make sense.

They went from almost having sex in their workplace, eye-fucking each other every day and slow dancing in front of people as if they were alone in the world, to acting as if none of that had ever happened. The cleaning lady writers have blood on their hands.

Have you seen my power gifset ?! that's exactly how I expected arman and thony to act !!! instead we got a watered down and insipid version of thony and arman and their relationship in the second season.

Sadly, Adan Canto, the actor who played Arman has passed away, and there is nothing we can do to change the circumstances. May he rest in eternal peace.

stevesnailbat’s gif tutorials: color palettes/colorful gifs

hello!! as you may know, i do a LOT of colorful gifs on this account, and i thought i’d share how exactly i make gifs with multiple vibrant colors in them (thanks to @robinsteve​ for the ask on how to do this <3) 

BEFORE this tutorial (if you’re new to PS/gifmaking) go look at my gif basics tutorial!! I would recommend a basic amount of PS knowledge before this tut :)

but with this, i’ll be showing you how to take your gifs from something like this:

to start, pick out a color palette or any colors that you want to use/highlight in your gifs. i’m using these two colors:

after you’ve chosen your colors and have your base color correction done on your gif of choice, add a new layer that will sit ON TOP of every edit that you make to your gifs (layer>new>layer>ok-you don’t have to change any of the settings for this layer). make sure it stays as the top layer, as you’ll be color matching to that layer throughout the process! it should look like this before you click ok:

now, using the paintbrush tool and the HEX codes of the colors you chose, add dots of your desired colors to any areas that you want to color match in the new layer that you just created. i like to do smaller dots, so that i can see around them while i’m working. after i add the dots to the places i want, it looks like this (don’t worry, we will delete the dots at the end!):

to start, I usually do the accent colors first so they don’t get lost when i do the the main color. so for this one, that’s the red on her shirt, scrunchie and in the top right corner. when i use selective color, i basically try to isolate the color that i want into 1 or 2 channels within the selective color layer, so things don’t get too muddy or anything. 

i did 8 (yes, EIGHT) selective color layers for the red alone in this gif, and i’ll list out what i did on every one:

SC1: reds - cyan-100/magenta+100/yellow+100

magentas - cyan-100/magenta+100/yellow+100

SC2: reds - cyan-45/yellow+100/black+78

SC3: reds - cyan+71/magenta-22/black+33

SC4: yellows - cyan-100/magenta+100/yellow+100

SC5: yellows - cyan-36/magenta+100/yellow+70

SC6: reds - cyan+46/magenta+100

SC7: neutrals - cyan-100/magenta+100/yellow+100/black-59

SC8: reds - cyan-100/magenta+83/yellow+100/black-55

SC layers 1 through 5 were used to bring the red up to the saturation point that i wanted to have it at for the whole gif, while layers 6 through 8 were just focusing on the top right corner. the main advice that i have for this part is to decrease the colors that you don’t want, and increase the ones that you do (like decreasing cyans on a red layer), and to also use layer masks & mask feathering to make sure you’re not making skin tones (or anything you don’t want a specific color) too vibrant. 

to make sure i was keeping the colors similar to what i wanted originally, i compare the colors that i’m making in selective color with the dots that i had made in the beginning.

after all of those layers, here’s what the reds looked like (without the dot layer)! 

after the reds, i moved on to the blues, which only took 2 layers. 

SC9: greens - cyan+100/magenta+100/yellow-100

cyans - cyan+100/magenta+100/yellow-100

blues - cyan+100/magenta-24/yellow-60

SC10: neutrals - cyan+100/magenta-15/yellow-100

i used SC9 to brighten up the blues that were already in the gif, and SC10 to bring blues that weren’t really present before into the background on the left side. 

to make colors that “aren’t there”, i like to use the “neutrals” channel in selective color, decreasing whatever color i don’t want and increasing the ones that i do, and covering the rest of the gif in layer masks so they aren’t discolored. you can also paint these on by using a new layer (layer>new>layer>change “mode” to color instead of normal>ok) and adding a vector mask to clean up the edges 

to make a vector mask on your new layer, make sure the desired layer is selected, then press the white square icon with a grey circle in the middle shown at the bottom of the layers section. it should look like the highlighted icon:

after the blue layers, here’s what the gif looked like:

and here’s what it looked like with the dots still showing, as reference to the original colors that i wanted: 

not all of the spots are the exact color that i wanted, but they’re all very similar! 

after you’re satisfied with the coloring, you can go ahead and delete the layer with your color dots on it and sharpen/save/etc. as you usually would! i hope this is helpful to all of you that want to make colorful and fun gifsets! my dms and inbox are open to anyone who might have questions about this process <3 xoxo

The longest love poem in the world is 291 stanzas (2900 lines) long. It is called Marína and was written in 1844 by Slovak author Andrej Sládkovič (sometimes also called Andrej Braxatoris). Official translations exist in German, Polish, Hungarian and French. There are a scattered unofficial translations in English, mostly consisting of a number of blog posts, now joined by these few stanzas by Yours Truly.

The poem speaks about the author's deep, but unfulfilled love for the titular Marína, who he learned was to marry someone else. It is a love most tragic, yet sweet and gentle, like the caress of the breeze against the grass of the pastures.

#41. To Unlove You Able I Am Not!

The burial mounds were quiet as they walked.

The burial mounds were always quiet, like only a place so sodden with death could be. The silent, voiceless whispers of lost souls were the only not-noise surrounding them. Wei Wuxian would likely never cease to be amazed that such a place could still harbor life. Or maybe that was exactly why. Life could after all only exist alongside death. Without it there was no rebirth, no beginning was without an end. Perhaps it was this simple, terrifying fact that made so many chase after the dream of immortality.

Maybe it was this morbid, yet inherent fascination with decay innate to every person born from a womb why Lan Zhan still came.

The two weeping willows at the border of this barren place twisted and twined around each other like the grotesque semblance of a gate. He stopped. Lan Zhan did too.  He would go on in a few moments, like he always did. He could have went on now too without ever halting, but Wei Wuxian knew he wouldn't. They always did this game, this dance, this exchange of give and take, where Wei Wuxian was the one who took and Lan Zhan the one who gave.

"Wei Ying," he said and it sounded like "Please" and it sounded like "Sorry".

He didn't ask him to go to Gusu anymore. Wei Wuxian pretended it didn't hurt.

Not that he could go.

If not before, certainly not now, or likely ever again.

Not in this life.

Not after everything.

Not the way they were.

Wei Ying met his eyes. Those sad, longing eyes, a mirror of his own.

"You shouldn't come here anymore, Lan Zhan," he said, because it was the truth.

"I don't mind," he quickly added when those beautiful eyes turned even sadder. "I'm always happy to see you. You're the only light in this darkness. But this is no way for Hanguang-jun to be."

It was one thing that disgraced and dishonored Wei Wuxian with nothing to lose let himself fall in one moment of desperate weakness. Lan Wangji, the second young master of Gusu Lan, the one who brought light to so many and deserved the world for it should not lower himself to a mere affair.

"What about you?" Yet his wonderful Lan Zhan still asked, as if Wei Wuxian mattered at all.

"Me?" Wei Ying laughed, tinny, without humor. "I have nothing left to give, Lan Zhan. Everything is gone."

Honorless in the eyes of the world, impure and immoral, tainted by evil. Even the last remnants of his innocence were gone now, his own defiled self judging him. At least he got to chose whom to lose it to.

"I'm glad it was you," he confessed. He had wanted it to be Lan Zhan, selfishly, even if it would inevitably stain that glowing white of Lan Zhan's virtue.

He had never dared to ask for it, yet it still happened. The both of them wanted to fall. The difference was Lan Zhan would have to get up, rise from the cold ground where Wei Wuxian would remain.

He turned to Lan Zhan for one last time and caught his lover regarding him with one of those devastated, longing gazes.

He swallowed. "You could…"

Wei Wuxian didn't let him finish.

"Lan Zhan!" The pretty lips shut close, pressed into a tight line. "How could I go? How could I leave them?!"

Lan Zhan didn't respond, eyes closed in despondence. Wei Wuxian ignored the stab in his chest and let his heart bleed, like it had been bleeding for months without end.

"Tell me a way to save them and I'll do it," he said in a calmer voice, yet still firm. "The seal, the wicked path, my life, I'll surrender it all to you. All you have to do is tell me how."

Lan Zhan didn't speak.

For a while there was nothing but silence.

"You should go," Wei Ying finally said, eyes trained on the dead ground. "They'll start missing you soon."

For a heartbeat he thought Lan Zhan would refuse.

"Mn." He nodded in the end and went on at last.

All Wei Wuxian could do was watch him go, as he stayed.

When I started shipping it if I did

I honestly don't know for sure? I think I started being all, "Oh???" after Jamie's confession, because it had come out of the blue for me and thus caused me to reevaluate basically everything. Then through an assortment of rewatches, meta, gifsets, etc., I moved into fully shipping them.

Part of it is born out of spite as well, because I find it immensely irritating that:

A. R/K shippers say with absolute authority that their ship is endgame. Will it probably be? Yes. Will it definitely be? No, so it’d be nice if people didn’t pretend like a different outcome is preposterous.

B. Fandom often infantilizes Jamie in regards to the relationship, which is both not okay and bizarre. I literally saw someone say that because Keeley has called both Jamie and Phoebe "sweetheart," that means she views him as a child. By that logic, Jamie calling her "kid" must mean he sees her as one, too? As though people don't use the same terms of endearment for romantic and platonic relationships all the time. Jamie's a grown-ass adult, one Keeley chose to be in a lengthy relationship with, one who's very emotionally intelligent, one who just needed to get out of his own head (which he has). Him having some growing to do in season 1 (as did everyone) doesn't warrant pretending he's a child, nor that he wasn't very much so a romantic partner of Keeley's whom she valued both then and now.

C. Fandom acts as though it was a completely superficial relationship that meant nothing, which it absolutely was not and did not.

D. Fandom also acts as though because Jamie and Keeley weren't a good long-term fit at the beginning of the series that means they'd be a bad fit now, too, despite them being entirely different people and Jamie in particular having become exactly the man Keeley always wanted him to be.

My thoughts

TL;DR I love them a lot a lot and I wish other people did, too 😭

Longer answer: I find it very unfortunate that almost no one ships them (at least, ships them without Roy, which, along with R/J alone, is my notp) despite them having been canon and there being a lot of potential. I want that second-chance storyline! Give me them growing outside of one another through a variety of experiences and people, then coming back together in the end because the spark and connection that brought them together in the first place now has a solid foundation on which to be built.

Or give me a happy slice of life from during their relationship! Or any number of AUs, whether canon divergence or wholesale universe change! Something.

I know some people say they think Jamie and Keeley being endgame would be presenting Keeley as a reward for him becoming a better person, but I don't see it that way at all, and I think that's also doing a disservice to both the characters and the writers. Jamie's reward for becoming a better person is being happier, well-adjusted, and having a healthier outlook on life. His reward is having friends and teammates who love and support him. His reward is being able to confront his demons (both inner demons and dad-related ones) and learn from his mistakes.

Ending up with Keeley wouldn't be a reward, it'd be him finally having the capacity to be in an emotionally mature relationship and treat her the way she deserves. Likewise, Keeley would get to be validated in having faith that this Jamie was inside him all along and experience everything he has to offer her that he wasn't able to before.

What makes me happy about them

All the little moments between them that are often overlooked and/or downplayed, their incredible fondness for one another, and their friendship in general.

What makes me sad about them

That they weren't in the right places to have a successful relationship when they were together and now likely won't get another go at it.

Things done in fanfic that annoy me

That there's no fanfic at all. At best there's a couple where Jamie's pining after her, except in those his feelings are 150% unreciprocated. There's fanfic for some super obscure ships and a truly baffling amount of fic for some ships you’d think would be obscure, but none for them :(

I get that the show barely touched upon their relationship from 1x08 to 2x10 and I get that it wasn't super profound or earth-shattering, but really? None? It's just frustrating is all.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other

Jamie has zero canon love interests outside of Keeley and ... idk, Amy from the reality show? He's a blank slate. I hate that fandom has tainted a lot of R/K for me, because I don't otherwise have an issue with them (so long as their issues are sorted out) and they'll almost definitely be endgame. I wish I could enjoy them inside and out the way I used to, but I can't :/

So really, I guess mostly anyone for Jamie (Sam or Dani would be cute) and Roy for Keeley. Or no one for Keeley, tbh. While she's done very well for herself both career-wise and growth-wise, I think it would do her some good to be single for a while.

My happily ever after for them

Normally I don't like ambiguous endings, but I would for sure be okay with one here. While it’d be rad if they were explicitly endgame, I think there would be a certain sweetness to an endgame that's merely hinted at, hammering home the message that they're starting fresh.

Who is the big spoon/little spoon

It's safe to say that Keeley almost always takes the lead with sex, but we've seen how soft Jamie is, especially with her, and how much he craves touch, so I think he'd be the one more prone to cuddling.

What is their favorite nonsexual activity

I'm not sure of a specific activity, but I really like envisioning them being domestic in general. They're both such animated personalities around other people but often a lot more subdued when by themselves, so I love the idea of them just ... existing outside of the public eye.

That scene in 1x08 is the closest I think we've seen of what they were like when it was just them, and it was wonderfully wholesome. Keeley was so warm and giggly, and Jamie was not only heartfelt but goofy. They had issues, obviously, but for the most part I like to think (and I'd say it's canon, even) that they quite simply genuinely enjoyed each other's company and got to see parts of each other that most people didn't get to see.

The other day I was going through Rong Xuan’s clips for a gifset. And going through that I caught some stuff that I totally missed when I watched the show for the first time. 

So bare with me while I go on my incoherent rant/analysis.

SPOILERS SO BEWARE 

This was the episode where Baiyi reveals Rong Xuan was his disciple. And was it me or did it sound like Ye Baiyi was talking about his rebellious son!!

Then comes Chang Qing! Who was perhaps the one to give Baiyi his Qi and turned him into an immortal. And the way YBY talks about him it sure sounds like they were good ‘bros’ like Lao Wen and Ah Xu.

We didn’t have any flashback of Baiyi’s life from before. We only get to learn about this when he is talking to his sword, which is also apparently named Chang Qing

Chang Qing had also formed ghost valley in order to ‘give evil a path to change’!! So I am guessing he perhaps wanted to give those ghost a chance to change but things didn’t go exactly to his plans??

He also tried to gain immortality/live a long life so he could keep ghost valley from branching into the world. 

From the dialogues it seemed like Chang Qing was also Rong Xuan’s father?!? I can’t be sure. I am only speculating here. 

So what I wanted to say was that, I just realized Ye Baiyi had the saddest story arc in the show! He lost his soulmate Chang Qing and their son Xuan’er. Was forced to live the life of an immortal because he promised Chang Qing he will destroy ghost valley. Also trying to find out what caused his son’s death, offering up to fulfill whatever wish Wen Kexing, Long Que had in hopes to redeem his son.
