quick note - this blog is gonna be sparse again for at least this week. trying new medications and tbh initial side effects are not super pleasant + actual effects build up. as a result: currently as if unmedicated for mental health, with anxiety+ side effect, extra fatigue, dizziness, and fatigue. it's uh, sure something.
totally recognize that most of y'all know we're absent at times due to health things, just wanted to give a heads up that this one is at least anticipated.
#fun fact sometimes condensing meds just means poorer treatment of some conditions#this is a re-expansion + new thing#so that instead of poorly treating my mental health and using an unusually high dose SNRI for another (physical) condition#i will hopefully both be in less pain AND not depressed af AND also have an appetite again#i doubt i will be lucky and not have a fucked stomach due to meds but one can hope that an appetite will allow me to eat foods that upset#my stomach a lot less#my health is forever a massive balancing act#every time a medical thing is like 'so what meds do u take' i'm like here i wrote it down for u#and they're like 'oh. ooookay. let me just...' *five minutes of typing and clicking later*#'so! what did you come in for again? uhuh. you said you experience pain daily? with your chronic pain thing? hm. have you tried yoga?'#/gen#like. straight up every time i say 'i am in pain all the time due to fibromyalgia' they are like 'ooh studies say regular exercise helps'#and like. theoretically yes! but also. i would be lying if i said the fibromyalgia studies i've skimmed don't set off general 'bad science'#alarm bells in my brain#like... cool you performed a fibromyalgia study with... all male lab rats? mhmm? so are you aware fibromyalgia appears to occur#overwhelmingly in women? like. data seems to suggest between 70-85%?#(not that the data can't still indicate things but it certainly makes male rats a poor choice of model for tests on it)#also just... idk i've looked at some metaanalysis and been like 'okay cool theory and for all i know about human bio or bio in general that#sounds more or less correct BUT. you never discussed that one study on this subject that did NOT support your conclusion.#and that's 1) interesting when it was the most diverse group of subjects and the exceptions often teach just as much as the 'rule'#2) just shitty science. tell me how your theory is still credible when some evidence doesn't fit the model.#like... see the reality is i post on my rps usually when nobodys been there a bit and nobody is probably online, but the mental illness in me keeps saying its bc everyone secretly hates me and i dont deserve love, and when i tell a gov doctor that, they basically just say ‘take your antidepressant’s and shut up’ which is also funny when said gov doctor wont refill my fucking antidepressants in the first place

I worked in an adolescent residential treatment center right out of college. Age 21, direct care worker. Weird combination of orderly, prison warden, camp counselor, and babysitter. I worked there for 2.5 years, way past the point of burnout, until I managed to get an office job.
At the interview, they said that the job was stressful, and asked if I could handle a stressful workplace environment.
I'm still not sure how I kept a straight face. Certainly a hysterical laugh was rattling around in my chest and trying to break free along with all the flashbacks.
"Is anyone going to try to punch me?" I asked.
The interviewer looked confused and slightly taken aback. "No?"
"What about biting, am I at risk of being bitten? Kicked? Am I going to have to worry about having objects thrown at me?"
"No, definitely not!"
Maybe I was going a little too far. I dialed it back. "What about being cursed at? Yelled at?"
"No, not that either."
Now I did laugh. I kept it to a nice, polite chuckle, though. "Then it's not more stressful than my last job, where I had to deal with all of those on a regular basis."
I got the job. It was blissfully low-stress.
working an office job now is so funny because when i was 16 i worked a shitty minimum wage job where my manager was an ex-felon bodybuilder with knuckles tats who spent time in prison for attempted murder… so guess what, phil? your fancy title and lame white-collar intimidation tactics aren’t going to work on me, actually. i watched my old boss pull a knife on someone. you really think im going to fall to my knees when you make passive aggressive commentary? please get real
#the office politics were basically high school drama#strange coming from 50-something-year-old-women#but high school drama is nothing like residential treatment center drama#so it was just amusing and perplexing rather than stressful#I did consistently refuse promotion into a sales position though#I just wanted to do admin work#paid better than the treatment center job that required a bachelors in psych#and didn't require even a high school diploma#paid WAY better#with way less stress#and way better hours#other people found that job stressful though#I'm still not entirely sure why#perspective I guess#also you want guilt trips?#no one pulls guilt trips to get you to do overtime like a shift supervisor of mental health care workers#'don't you care about your clients though? don't you care about your team? come in when you're sick#don't abandon them!'#fuck you too M----

We can get so caught up in the cold weather and changing leaves, which are some of life's greatest pleasures. But let us not forget that October is breast cancer awareness month.
Cancer in general is something that can take over your entire life. You don't even have to be the one who is fighting the battle. When someone you love is diagnosed with cancer, your life changes.
They say that addiction is something called a family disease. This phrase does not mean that addiction runs in the family, but it means it is a disease that can influence and impact all of the inner workings of family dynamics. The same can be said about breast cancer.
Of course, you can see the lows that come with cancer, but you can also see the strength and resilience that comes with being a being a fighter and survivor. Being of support to those battling breast cancer likely means more to them than you realize. Send them the dinners, the door dash gift cards, hire someone to come clean their home, put together a self care basket, etc. These are some ways we can help cancer warriors. Most importantly, tell them you love them!
I want to emphasize the importance of understanding the basics of breast cancer! I am not a doctor, but I am an advocate.
Did you know that 49% of women without insurance went into care with no coverage or delayed getting care? That is nearly half of women with a breast cancer diagnosis. And that does not even include men who have had a breast cancer diagnosis. (Yes, men can get breast cancer too)
INSURANCE IS A BASIC NECESSITY. WE ALL DESERVE ACCESS TO LIFE SAVING CARE. EARLY INTERVENTION IS LIVE SAVING.
I'll say it once, and I'll say it again: I would rather pay a little bit more in taxes if that means every woman, man, and child has access to health care.
We deserve access to quality health care, but also EQUITABLE health care. Breast cancer death rates are 40% higher for woman of color. We cannot continue to let black women and POC to fall through the broken cracks of our healthcare system.
***If you know a doctor that actually listens to you, tell everyone about them. I'm serious- you never know who's life this can save, given medical professionals do not take women seriously.***
Some things we can do to try and prevent breast cancer:
-Limit alcohol intake
-Avoid smoking
-Exercise regularly
-Drink more water and balanced diet
(All of these things are the things doctors throw at you when something is wrong, but won't take you seriously. Please do not take this is the solution, but please understand this has the potential to prevent breast cancer, and really any kind of cancer)
-Learn your family's history. If you can't find information about your family history, genetic testing can help here. (I'm going to link info down below)
-Get your mammogram screenings regularly (They say this should start in your 40's. If you have a family history, try to start by age 30.)

The struggle continues on.....
I'm simply a wreck. Days before I was just having to deal with heavy Philomena, who evolved into premature menopause. 😵💫 I think with my body having to mange its own internal stress, I maybe fighting off a cold virus or something now. I'm not completely sure. *sigh* All I can fathom is that I'm super fatigued with a sinuses headache and other body aches.
Also, Philomena gives me long period, heart palpitations which increases my fatigue and actually speeds up my metabolism. Yes, many times while having my period, I burn more calories while resting. I'm still not sure if that's something I'm happy about. All and all, I just cannot normally function roughly 2 weeks from each month. Women, who live with premenstrual dysphoric disorder, also deal with symptoms like these, especially if they living with anxiety disorder as well.
All I can do is rest in bed and do any other self-care that's needed to get through these health changes. I do humbly wish to Praise God that my physical trials no longer tear me down like in the past. I'd easily fall into a downer, and have a pity party over my circumstances. It's okay be at that place sometimes, but it's not okay to stay there. There's no way I could overcome these things alone, so I keep choosing to give it all to Him. As Followers of Christ, we're not exempted from the struggles and hardships of this life on earth. We simply have chosen the only other option, which is Jesus Christ. Who's so lovingly, gracious and welcoming to all that come to Him with sincere hearts. ❤️ It is He, who gives me His Joy, Hope, Peace and Love. Plus a fulling Purpose and Passion while I travel through this world. All in-spite while having this annoying and limited human body that likes to complicate things. 🤧🤢🤮
Life ain't Perfect, But Jesus Makes it All Worth It!!! 💖
Now my body is saying it's hungry. I must get up and do something about it. Then it's back to chill'n and recover'n for that day. 🤟😌
