Tim calls a family meeting and everyone is assuming he’s got a big case he needs help with, which is alarming for someone who refuses to admit that some cases are beyond him.
So, everyone shows up at the cave only to be ordered upstairs by Alfred. For those who only showed up to make fun of Tim for needing help, this is confusing because case work ain’t allowed upstairs.
All do them figure out quickly that this means it’s not to do with Gotham or Ref Robin, but the man behind the mask.
Bruce and Dick were there first and because Damian is always with one of them, so is he.
Steph picks up Barbara and Cass, with Duke already at home and Jason showing up at the same time as Kate and Lucius.
When they all get into the lounge room used for when people are over, just two doors down from the actual family room, they all find themselves chatting casually as they stave off their own worries or confusion. Some of them try find out if anyone knows what’s going on, but when Alfred and Barbara reveal they have no idea, they give up and make a few guesses but no more.
When Tim finally comes in after Alfred received him, he looks tired.
It’s not usual for Tim to get distracted with work and not sleep for a while, but he will conk out for hours when he decides to and wake up alright.
The bags under his eyes, the redness within them, and the way he looks close to tucking himself into a ball…
Bruce is immediately leaning forward, opening his mouth to make sure his son is okay but Tim just raised a hand to silence him. “Just… just let me speak, okay? I need to do it now or I’m not going to be able to.”
Everyone gives him a nod or look of understanding, making him twitch a smile before inhaling deeply and psyching himself up.
“I have cancer.”
…
Nobody speaks as Tim exhales shakily.
Everyone is staring wide eyed at the young man before them, who just reached the legal drinking age, and trying to asses his physical form for an understanding of what he just said. They’re all trying to gain X-ray vision to see exactly what is hurting him all while trying to convince themselves they heard him wrong.
Tim closes his eyes and speaks automatically, leaning into facts like he always does when he’s freaking out, “I noticed I was getting by more tired and fatigued around last year. My doctor said I have a low white cell count but he wasn’t alarmed as it was still in the normal range. But a few months ago I started to note that bruises were taking far too long to heal and I was getting a lot of pain around my joints and bones.”
He inhaled again, shakier than before at the same time that Alfred sits himself down with a hand over his mouth.
“It’s stage 2 and because of my lack of a spleen it’s going to be a harder process for treatment but fortunately I own a medical company so there’s that at least.” He makes a sort of joking smile that falters immediately, falling into a pulled back frown that comes with someone whose about to sob as he adds, “But it’s also aggressive so I-I don’t know how-how to-fuck-“
Dick and Cass are immediately moving off the couches they are on and catch him as he finally crumbles into himself.
Bruce is next to follow, the stoic man openly crying for the first time in years.
Jason and Damian are in shock, both frozen in place as dread takes over their minds.
Steph is looking out the window, as if staring at some kind of his or deity and demanding an expiration as to why they have to hurt her loved ones so badly. She’s crying, but it’s silent which is all the more harrowing.
Lucius places a hand on Alfred’s shoulder to comfort the elder even as he himself itches to go comfort the young boy who helped him run the company when he was at his worst.
Kate leaves the room to go call Bette, needing her mentor because this is just something she can’t handle.
Duke is sobbing into his hands as he leans into Barbara’s lap. Barbara who is clinging to him like a lifeline as she feels her world shift once again, feeling so angry and confused at how one of them could be threatened like this. Of all the ways they could go out, was it really going to be cancer?
It was a harrowing experience for all of them to remember that they were human in more than just their flesh being able to bleed and be wounded, but for it to grow sick. For it to age and attack itself.
They were human at the end of the day and Tim…
In Metropolis, Clark Kent rushed into the bathroom at his work to throw up as he heard a conversation miles away.

"Every year, over 350,000 women die from cervical cancer and another 660,000 are diagnosed. [Note: Plus trans men and other trans people with a cervix.] As a consequence, children are orphaned, families impoverished and communities diminished by the loss of mothers, wives, daughters and sisters.
And yet, unlike most other cancers, almost all these cases and deaths can be averted. We have powerful vaccines that can prevent infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV) that causes cervical cancer; we have diagnostics to detect it early; and we have treatments for those it strikes. With these tools, cervical cancer can not only be stopped; it could become the first cancer to be eliminated. Some high-income countries are already close to elimination, meaning fewer than four cases per 100,000 women.
But in many low- and middle-income countries, these tools are still not available, which is why 94% of cervical cancer deaths occur in those countries.
In 2018, WHO launched a global call to action to eliminate cervical cancer, which was followed in 2020 by the adoption by all 194 WHO Member States of a Global Strategy to Accelerate the Elimination of Cervical Cancer as a Public Health Problem. The strategy calls for countries to achieve three targets by 2030: 90% of girls fully immunised against HPV; 70% of women receiving timely screening; and 90% of those found with precancer or cancer accessing treatment.
These targets are not just aspirational, they are achievable, even in low- and middle-income countries. Bhutan has already reached the targets, the first to do so in the South-East Asia region.
Since introducing the HPV vaccine in 2011, Rwanda has reached vaccine coverage of 90%, and today announced its national goal to reach the 90-70-90 targets three years ahead of schedule, by 2027. Already, in two districts – Gicumbi and Karongi – Rwanda is meeting those goals. Nigeria, which introduced the HPV vaccine in October last year [2023], has already vaccinated 12.3 million girls.
We have the tools and the opportunity to eliminate cervical cancer.
Since WHO issued the global call to action in 2018, more than 60 countries have introduced the HPV vaccine into their immunisation programmes, bringing the total to 144 countries that are routinely protecting girls from cervical cancer in later life. With scientific advances, we can now prevent cervical cancer with just a single dose, which 60 countries are now doing.
The largest provider of HPV vaccines to low- and middle-income countries is Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, which plans to vaccinate 120 million children between now and 2030. But this plan requires that investments in health are sustained. We are also counting on manufacturers to confirm and honour their commitments to provide HPV vaccines to low- and middle-income countries in the coming years, to avoid the supply constraints that held back progress in the past.
But we cannot rely on vaccines alone. The impact of the rapid scale-up in vaccinating girls now will not be seen for decades, when they reach the adult years when cervical cancer typically appears. To save lives now, we must match the increase in vaccination with increases in screening and treatment.
Decades ago, as more women gained access to pap smears in developed countries, the mortality associated with cervical cancer dropped rapidly. Today, even better tests are available. Over 60 countries now include high-performance HPV tests as part of their screening programs. Women can even collect their own samples for HPV testing, removing more barriers to life-saving services. In Australia – which is on track to become one of the first countries in the world to achieve elimination – more than a quarter of all screening tests are now done this way...
Several countries are also investigating the use of artificial intelligence to enhance the accuracy of screening in resource-limited settings. When women are found with precancerous lesions, many are now treated with portable battery-powered devices, which can be operated in remote locations."
-via The Telegraph, November 18, 2024. Article written by Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Jessie - Team Rocket

I drew this as a tribute to the english voice actor of Jessie from Pokemon. On the 10th of August 2024, Rachael Lillis passed away from breast cancer at the age of 55. May she rest peacefully, and my thank you to her for the irreplaceable voice of both Jessie and Misty from the first pokemon anime. She was taken far too soon and will be greatly missed 🤍🕊️

This New Mod Matters
I don't usually promote new gameplay mods, but within the last few years I've lost my sister-in-law and a cousin to breast cancer. So I'm deeply grateful to TURBODRIVER for his new mod Breast Cancer Awareness. I know many realistic players will appreciate the detail this mod adds. But mostly I hope this will help lots of young people who have breasts to learn how to manually check them. And I love that he's included monthly reminders for Simmers, not just for Sims! Also: If you're like me and due for your next mammogram, consider this a reminder to pick up the phone and get it scheduled! - Oct. 14, 2024

TommyInnit in Florida

I had so much fun! It was one of the best nights of my life! I'm so happy I got to go and was able to experience the magic of TommyInnit live! It was the best celebration of being cancer free that I could ask for <3
I was texting Technodad before the show as I freaked out. This man was just as hype as I was even though he didn't understand half the things I was saying after I lost my old man filter.

Hi 👋,
My name is Rimas,
I hope you are doing well ❤️
I am reaching out to you in a moment of dire need🥺.
I am a 14 year old girl suffering from cancer. I need continuous intravenous treatment and I hope to travel for treatment as soon as possible.
I live in Gaza🇵🇸, and we are caught in the middle of a catastrophic war. Our homeland is no longer a safe haven, and the future here looks increasingly uncertain.
💔Unfortunately, I have not received any donations, I would like your generous donation to help me and my family get better in the midst of the war. However, I will continue to fight for my safety and my goal of reaching safety.
If you can take the time to read our story, consider donating, or simply share our campaign with others, it will make an incredible difference. Every act Hi 👋,

Cancer
Just because someone isn't bald doesn't mean they don't have cancer.
Just because someone isn't in hospital doesn't mean they don't have cancer.
Just because someone doesn't look frail doesn't mean they don't have cancer.
Just because someone is smiling and living doesn't mean they don't have cancer.
if someone is smoking and has cancer don't judge them, the cancer could not even be from the cancer quitting smoking isn't as easy as you think and mix it with depression it's even harder. (real diagnosed depression not someone just being sad for an hour)
Stop thinking cancer = baldness. Not all Chemotherapy makes you bald. Stop judging people when they say they have cancer but aren't bald. Stop dismissing people when they say they have cancer but aren't bald.
This is coming from someone with a mother with 2 cancers. one not even chemotherapy can get rid of and it being a rare branch of a rare cancer. Nobody down our streets even ask if she's okay despite knowing what she goes through. People ask how my budgie is more than they ask how my mummy is doing.
Nobody believes her because she doesn't cry due to having cancers. Nobody believes her because she's not bald. Nobody believes her because she's not always in the hospital.
Sorry for all this I just need to get it off my chest because the teachers from my school and people down my street don't give a single [bleep] and one of my teachers even live down our street and know what we have to go through. Just because someone is asking everyone else if they need help they're there and smiling doesn't mean their fine. My mummy is an amazing person (and extremely funny too) and she's been through hell (even aside from the health stuff her whole life is something from a movie of sorts.) She goes through so much and the only person there for her is me. my grandparent's are too delusional to care (heck when they said she had breast cancer (before it turned out to be the rare cancer) the whole family was saying "Oh I can't take care of her" they was all saying excuses as of why they CANT take her in.... they should be saying "No no no i'll take her she just got diagnosed with cancer i'll take her" but no....) If someone you know has been diagnosed with cancer PLEASE care about them and if you can care for them, ask if they need anything even if they joke about their cancer or smile doesn't mean they're fine.
If you can repost this share this so people can be aware
ive decided that nowadays im not going to say the rare cancer my mummy has since it's VERY rare and her branch of it is one she only has most doctors didn't even know it exists (she also collects specialists like pokemon xd we really should find a sheet that names off all of the specialists and we can put a sticker on the ones she has)
(If i miss anything i need to add ill add it in comments)
Also please please PLEASE forgive me for any spelling errors so my apologies!

Childhood cancer awareness is incredibly important to me!! A very close friend has recently gone into remission!! This experience has drawn my attention to how little funding and recognition childhood cancer receives!! (Especially for rare cancer types like Sarcoma)
1 in every 285 children will develop cancer before the age of 20, 47 of those children will be diagnosed today, those 47 families will spend over 40% of their annual income on supporting their child. Tomorrow another 47 children will need your help and funding.
According to the Children’s Cancer Research Fund:
Childhood cancer remains the most common cause of death by disease among children in the U.S.
The amount of funding that goes to childhood cancer research continues to pale in comparison to the funds available for research into adult cancers. Current cancer research funding from the federal government, dedicates funding to childhood cancer research that is in the single digits.
I believe that these numbers can and should change. And that you can help! In the notes have I will be providing links to resources for helping children with cancer in your community, as well as links to donate directly to funding childhood cancer research and relief. Remember that you can have positive change in your community and in this world.
Ways To Aid:
Remember that you have the power to reach out and help your community! Organize. Support. Reach out and find opportunities to volunteer! Make the world a better place!!
