here is everypony's reminder that the majority of anti endos are arguing in bad faith and are just trying to bait you, and will never listen to what you have to say. dont put yourself through unnecessary stress and fakeclaiming just to try and change their minds, because it wont work. we, especially samuel, are trying to work on this ourselves, so dont feel bad for giving anti endos the attention and anger they want, just keep in mind that most of them are simply sad, angry, hurt, traumatized systems taking their pain out on those who are happier than them.
have a good day, and remember, all plurals, yes, including you, are valid. <3

Okay, my brain refuses to think about anything other than Murderbot, so I looked at every use of the word "friend[s]" in TMBD and... created some pie charts. Normal human activities.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some Thoughts™ I had while putting this together (under the cut):
In All Systems Red, Murderbot notes that the PresAux crew are all close friends (twice! and goes on to explain their internal relationships which I think is very cute). This is pretty much the only use of 'friends' in ASR, except for when Murderbot says that SecUnits can't be friends with each other.
It seems that this may be one of the first times Murderbot has ever really been around a group of friends before? Murderbot notes that this is not the norm for its contracts and admits that the fact that they are all friends and the way they interact with each other make it actually enjoy that contract (before!!!! the hostile attack, so it already enjoys this contract before they start seeing it as a person etc ghghhhh). [Inference: Friendship seems enjoyable.]
The first character that calls Murderbot its friend is ART in Artificial Condition. Murderbot immediately refutes this (and then goes on to call ART its friend to its clients for the rest of the book). [Inference: Maybe ART is Murderbot's friend. And maybe that is... agreeable]
Rogue Protocol has more than twice as many instances of the word 'friend' as any of the other novellas. Why? Miki. Friendship and its implications for non-humans are a central theme because Miki is friends with everyone. Murderbot initially scoffs at the notion that Miki and Miki's humans are friends. At the end of the book, after witnessing how desperately Don Abene tried to stop Miki from trying to save them, and her grief after its death, Murderbot has to admit that she had in fact been Miki's friend. [Inference: Humans can be friends with bots and can sincerely care about them]
In Exit Strategy, Murderbot tentatively uses the word "friends" for its humans for the first time (several times actually). It questions whether it can actually call them its friends or not and later realizes that it had been afraid what admitting that the humans are its friends would do to it. At the end of the book, Mensah tells Murderbot the PresAux crew are its friends, which is the first time a human has directly said that to it (at least on-page). [Inference: Humans can and want to be Murderbot's friends]
In Network Effect, Murderbot seems to be more habituated to the word 'friend', confidently calling ART and Ratthi its friends, like it is no longer just trying the concept on unsure if it fits. There are many instances in which other characters refer to MB as ART's friend or the other way around and Murderbot's humans refer to Murderbot as their friend several times. Generally, there seems to be less hesitancy, because yes, all of them are Murderbot's friends, why wouldn't they be. [Inference: SecUnits can have friends. This SecUnit has friends. They care about it a lot.]
Conclusion: The Murderbot Diaries tell the story of a construct that does not seem to consider the possibility of friendship for itself and is fine with that - until it accidentally starts caring a little too much and suddenly more and more people annex it as a friend (ew) to the point where it can no longer deny that this is happening and has to begrudgingly admit that yes, it has friends now and maybe that is actually not a bad thing.

I'm really upset because one of the blogs we follow [ for age regression stimboards ] is now anti-endo
They seemed so cool but now they are against our entire existence.
Aughhhh I hate anti-endos. I hate that they hate us. I hate that I can interact with genuinely good content because we accidentally created headmates without trauma.
I hate that intentionally created systems can't interact either. Because they wanted that and yet they're hated for it.
...
I wish everyone was pro-endo. I wish everyone stopped making generalizations and hating on other groups of people who've done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong..
We will never use "dni anti-endo" or "anti-endo fuck off" tags.. why? Because that's what they do. They tell us to fuck off. For what? We're here to be a safe space..
Its just sad and upsetting. Why hate?

Plural joy is the littles playing with the inhuman headmates. I might have been kicked off the couch to make room for this Entire Moose while at work (not ideal) but the toddler petting her and climbing on her back has never been happier, so I guess I can live with it.

Posting here bc i posted a banger on my main and don't wanna derail my sick posting with discourse.
If it's not known, I'm very firmly pro endo right. Like I have good friends who are endo systems, those are my home boys.
So what has me rackin my fuckin brain is like, as a traumagenic system who as constantly been told that I'm not actually a system by too many people, why are we doin that to other people dude. Like look at yourself man, you're a system yourself (or at least I'd hope so) and you've been told your whole damn like that your experiences are invalid, not real, whatever bullshit and you're just like, doing that to other people y'know? You're perpetuating this cycle of systemic abuse on others based on, what, what you think they might be experiencing? The harm they might be doing? Like you're actively dictating what you think is going on in someones head for whatever reason ya might have (I ain't gonna assume, that makes me no better) and for what? Who does it serve?
Like every anti-endo thing I've heard has only really helped people who oppress systems to do that more, to do it almost easier. This rhetoric I constantly see bopping around our community actively harms not only this grand standing enemy you've made endogenic systems out to be but like, it's basically a form of self harm to the system community as a whole. By creating this weird divide between the "real" systems vs those deemed "fake" we are fueling some really bad and bigoted shit towards our community. Is that what you want to do as part of this community? Is weeding out these supposed "fakers" worth the actual harm this stuff is doing?
Sorry to discourse on mogai over here. But 1. this is my biggest account so I think it'll reach the most people and 2. It's been a problem I've had for a while with the mogai community as a whole. I feel like we can do better than this.

hi! two questions. 1) have you played monster hunter wilds and 2) if so, is it worth playing?
1. i have not played the full game, though i did play the beta back in february!
2. I personally have chosen to hold off for now, at least until all title updates are released. the game has some pretty serious issues right now, primarily with optimization, UI, and gameplay balancing. That's kinda par for the course with modern monhun (sadly). Thankfully the MH team has a good track record with addressing feedback so it's only a matter of time to see adjustments made.
It's up to you! If you like what you see from trailers and gameplay videos and you don't mind the price point then go for it :D

I’m not American, and I have a question about the medical care in prison. Luigi’s back X-rays are public and doctors who looked at them have said his surgery was botched, and that even if it wasn’t he would need follow up surgery multiple times in his life anyway. Considering his surgery was not performed properly, they also said he would need another operation within the next few years.
If he’s sentenced, how does this even work? Does he get to pick his surgeon? Is he allowed outside the prison and into a hospital to get treated? Is he gonna be cuffed on the operating bed as well? Does he get to meet his family? How will he manage aftercare on a steel bed and a 2 inch mattress? The first time he got surgery he was bedridden for months, will MDC/wherever he ends up after sentencing allow his some relief from the daily manual labor prisoners have to do in order to recover?
i don't know Luigi's medical history for sure. and i at least would not be speculating on what healthcare he would/could require right now or in the future.
however, if Luigi does need to get surgery or needs medical attention specific to his back issues, i highly doubt he would get the medical attention he needs while incarcerated. this is mainly because prisons in USA have no system in place to treat inmates beyond some very common infectious diseases and health conditions. this situation is further exacerbated by the fact that USA as a country does not have any universal public healthcare system in place, which itself is the biggest issue lurking in the background of the charges against Luigi. how this affects the healthcare of incarcerated individuals is that incarcerated individuals are taken to health facilities outside of their detention centers/prisons when such medical issues arise that they cannot be taken care of in the prison infirmary itself – such visits are made with intense security measures in place. this does not however mean that inmates can choose where they are getting care or from whom (specialists if required) or if they're getting the appropriate care they need.
in fact, while the constitution guarantees that inmates should not be subjected to any "cruelty" while incarcerated, and while the connotation of "cruelty" does include not being able to avail the medical attention an inmate needs, there is no specific instruction or procedure already in place on how this is to be achieved. as a result of this, inmates in US prisons more often than not, do not get the healthcare they should get and deteriorate in health – both physically and mentally. so much so, that of all US prison inmates, about 35-40% have some chronic health issues.
inmates can ask for proper medical attention if they are not able to get it from the system already in place (or the lack thereof) by filing lawsuits claiming that they are being subjected to cruelty and are being denied essential healthcare. this requires that the inmate has to prove the essentiality of the care they need and is often not heeded upon entirely and is indeed very difficult to prove given their situation and lack of freedom to choose where they get medical attention from.
so all in all, if Luigi needs essential medical care while in pre-trial detention or in the worst case scenario if he's convicted, he will just not get it. we can forget about post surgery recovery if he can't get surgery in the first place, if required. let us hope and pray he gets to walk free soon enough and doesn't need any specific medical attention while in custody.
p.s.: you can check this post and the notes of this post if you wanna.
EDIT: another anon answered all the questions here.

Everyone in this system is SO fucking lucky I don't remember literally any scots gaelic because otherwise I'd be speaking primarily in it at-
Hangon I'm being informed by one of the few folks who are Good At Clocking Languages that the brain has been AUTOTRANSLATING IT BECAUSE THE BODY DOESNT KNOW THE LANGUAGE WHAT THA FUCK IS THIS BULLSHITE!
Anyways, everyone else is lucky we don't know it and don't care to use an online translation every time because otherwise I'd post so fuckin much on here and it'd all be in gaelic.
