im such a sucker for like, very genre-specific/vocal-style-specific voicebanks used in songs outside the genre they were made for. adds such a great character to it - rap vocals singing is a particular favourite of mine (the rap data adds so much personality to how words are articulated) but also im always a fan of like a denpa-y idol-y voice doing a big singerly power ballad, or super powerful rock focused vocal doing soft bubblegum pop, cutesy cartoon mascots and joke characters doing serious edgy or dark songs, etc... its about the gap moe
#needless to say i am vibrating with excitement over tone chroma 1#im not particularly interested in buying it myself based off the teaser or anything personally#but dear GOD i cant wait until we learn more about it and people get their hands on that voice#i wanna see what people do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#i love when people use prima and tonio and cheng xiao for non-opera its so fun and cool. so im very excited :)#ALSO just in general excited for the whole tone chroma series. iirc they mentioned they were going for genre-specific focuses these series#when they were recruiting vps for the project. im so so so excited to see where they go with this

our life is a preddy good video game but its also one of those things thats titled in such a way where i can literally never type the name correctly. our life something or other. our life something & other.
#my dad was misremembering the name of our usual laundry detergent#as 'free & clear' rather than 'free & gentle' (probably confusing it with those old skincare commercials)#and that reminded me of how much i can never remember this games name for the life of me#im a backer. i literally backed the first game. but i also cant remember the name orz especially now that theres the sequel in dev#our life 1 and our life peggle & 2 is the names in my mind. im really bad with certain words LOL#i should finish that game. i really like it. im not really one for low stakes slice of life things usually but im so enamoured with#the complexity of the choices. just the sheer amount of it all. really neat

#vocal synth wip#i think i made that joke before#and i will do it yet again#anyway speaking of songs i thought had an official instrumental and then didnt LOL#i think i have most of it down kind of! i dont know the bpm. or key. i guessed#BUT i think most of the notes are right. a couple still sound off but most sound right#and im basically happy with the timing. thats always why i get like 80% done a wip and start a new one LOL i try too hard to match the#originals articulation but im getting better at being more relaxed#speaking of articulation we knew maaya sakamoto is a wonderful singer but MAN i kept getting blown away by some of the#little subtleties in this song. shes very delicate with her ending consonents which gives it such a intimate feel its great#OH also i need to add breaths. and i have no clue if the IS SOMEBODY THEREEEEE layer in the middle is correct at all <3#and the phonemes need to be messed with a LOT. calling needs to be soften and tomorrow needs to be tomowrow rather than tomarrow#and i didnt do the vocalizations at the end of the song. im not sure if i want to hgkjfdhgskjfdshjfsd theyre scary....#we shall see BUT in the meantime DID YOU KNOW rikka has like. some really good vocal fries in cl#i knew she had like a subtle one but it turns out if you use the alt1 or alt2 vers its waay stronger which is awesome#leaving you off with that. now if you'll excuse me i need to go start another svp

theres so many like classic anison with official intsrumentals that im always surprised dont have any vocal synth files out there - like not even like a super old dead download link made by some english speaking kid with incorrect lyrics or anything. then again there was probably fear of copyright takedowns LOL unfortunately for copyright holders and also me i have no fear of anything ever

its a little wild to me that synthv's default phoneme choice for "and" is [ax n d]. i guess is not incorrect or anything that is how its pronounced in plenty of dialects and you hear it like that in like i dunno. music from the 40s maybe. but for most contemporary pop music from the last 3 decades people are definitely [ae n d]ing that shit
#ax sounds okay in like really long 'and's i guess. but in english 'and' isnt a word that gets elongated in music often LOL#in short 'and's it sounds so off most of the time tho like uhnd. instead of ann-d#i need to use the dictionary function so it defaults to ae instead LOL but im lazy and i never use it <3#is this like a vowel shift thing or something. or an artefact of sv's arpabet based phoneme system#or is my ontario accent too deep into my brain that i hear all 'and's as ae n d now#she needs to be put down. she has a terminal case of being from ontario.

Playing with vocal synthesizers is crazy man you'll start out like "yeah I'm not interested in making any original music or anything I just like fooling around and making covers" and after a year or so of doing it regularly the piano sampler in ur daw starts whispering into your ear at night like "unless...?"

in general ive been really intrigued by techno recently. what if a drum machine did a backflip in your eardrums
#i watched that movie. challengers recently. actually okay. i uh. i had watched like half of it like months ago#by watching someone elses screen a few rows ahead of me on a planeride. its a bad habit of mine. i had to stop myself at one point#because i wanted to watch it normalstyle instead of eavesdropping on a strangers plane screen LOL but anyway i watched it for real#like a week ago and its a good movie i like the bisexuality of it all. but man that SOUNDTRACK. i got jumpscared at the credits#when i realized it was atticus ross and trent reznor again. why is any interesting soundtrack in a new north american movie ive seen by the#theyre following me. anyway i was like damn. i need to listen to techno RIGHT NOW so i listened to various playlists of techno old and new#and as a wikipedia boyfriend i was reading various articles about the history while listening. immersive experience#anyway its been really great and really interesting! its crazy what people are doing with like#those drum machines and sequencers in the 80s. casting spells and shit. its awesome#its a shame basically any electronic or synth using instrumental music gets lumped under techno by laymen#because like all electronic genres its so unique! its got a unique sound! but i guess thats how it ends up
