If ur like me and bark like a confused and territorial dog that can't pass the mirror test when you hear recordings of your own voice because you don't Recognize Who That Is, I highly recommend making a shitty quick UTAU voicebank. The level of abstraction turns it from hearing an uncanny voice masquerading in your place into hearing the sound of your fucked up digital child. I have a really Really common indian last name and I always get so nervous when I'm at like a doctor and they just ask for my last name to find my file like nooooo watch out receptionist!!!! ask for my first name to clarify!!!! we're talking like smith or Johnson level of common here!!!!

im ignoring my assignments and responsibilities right now so listen to this un-oto'd utau i recorded in an hour on my laptop mic
#shocked how decent my own voice sounds here..... this is the worldline resampler which i find smooths out poorly oto'd things well#when i used default resampler and macres u could hear how rough it actually is <3 moresampler surprisingly sounded okay#and even here you can hear how badly the mic peaked at times. i think my dad has an actual microphone somewhere i might see if can borrow i#i dont know what note i recorded in. somewhere cloooooose to like c4 but i think i ended up higher? or maybe i ended up lower..#it is a mystery to you and me. together.#i dunno im kind of into this.... my half finished homunculus here........ kinda digging it....

Hello Zundamon.
#i built the little plafia zundamon figure kit! i was like#a little scared because ive only ever done like one gundam once years ago#BUT it went pretty smooth and it was fun#a couple tiny pieces i think ill need to glue later (the tiny necktie specifically) but most stuck together pretty solid press fit#her legs fall off all the time while posing but thats just the nature of this type of joint so im used to it#the default and scared face are pre painted but the other four have waterslide decals which was scary cause id never done those before#BUT actually it was chill and pretty easy LOL just finicky#later i guess ill use some doll sealant i have around to seal the decals in#shes so silly....maybe sometime ill get the ankomon ver too...and i think theyre planning on making a zunko#id specifically looooove an itako but i imagine if they do all they'll do kiritan next#which also isnt bad theyre all silly sisters + their weird freak pet zundamon <3#SHE didnt come with a stand i think that was exclusive for like. a limited edition from the companys store#which that will be an adventure trying to find a stand for her.....but somehow i got her to balance for this photo LOL#she canNOT stand by herself 99% of the time tho her big ass head tail thing and tiny feet forbid it#but i had fun building her and now i have a funny little thang on my desk. hello zundamon.#edit: now i will say. my aim is bad when cutting off the plastic nubs#i am going to be stepping tiny plastic bits stuck in my carpet for days <3

theres songs that were and are super popular with human coverists too, plus songs that are popular with both communities (vsynth cover producers and utaite) i need to make lists. i need to make spreadsheets. everyone loves idol but i see more utaite (probably cause the talk-singing is hard to tune LOL). we will never escape overdose and darling among utaite as well. and donut hole was big when it came out and is huge again because of the chocolate sponsored new mv (?). not enough sarishinohara covers anymore but thats just because i really like that song and i want more at all times. i need to make lists. i need to make lists. what are your quintessential vsynth and utaite go-to songs to cover.... i need to make lists

theres like specific songs i think of as like, the quintessential songs that must be covered by every vocal synth on earth - but of course my perception is extremely biased by 1) the time i first got into vsynths and 2) the type of kid i was when i did SO my go-to is always like tori no uta and i dunno dear you from higurashi. visual novel songs? not even actual vocaloid songs?? i didnt even know what a visual novel was at the time...
BUT i digress i was thinking like damn. despite how i do think of tori no uta as The Song Everyone Must Sing, i guess its not as ubiquitous now so theres a lot of newer synths that havent sung it yet........ the opposite also happens (current songs that are popular to cover not being covered as often with old out of print synths) but theres some dedicated cover producers making like bake no hana covers with like miriam and such luckily. salutes o7 but yeah i half joked about my desire to make every synth i touch sing tori no uta but i think this truly is a journey i must head out on. i need to make everyone sing that anime-girl-dying-in-your-arms type 2000s trance. i need to do it.
#well tbh i was actually working on that before. specifically trying to fix the timing issues in the vsqx that came with ia LOL#that was taking forever tho and i got distracted and started like fifteen other svp projects. luckily someone has since come out with a#project file with fixed timing etc so that may speed things up. but i do also hem and haw over the volume levels in my mixes for months#and it still ends up this mix is ass session terminated <3 but thats okay i have fun#anyway i have a hashtag tummy ache. so i am posting through the pain#if im sick im gonna scream. on of my professors cancelled class earlier because she got sick did she get me sick. aaaaaauuuuuuuuu#howls sadly

and on that end i wonder if ps2/gamecube era licensed games might be a new strong influence on indie horror like ps1 and a tiny bit of n64 inspired horror has been. i think theres a lot of potential there
#although the nice thing about ps1 style horror is the low poly look making it more accessible to stylize#and probably easier to optimize for lower end pcs.#but in a way i think the flat round almost unfinished lighting of licensed ps2 games is really interesting#i think you could get a lot of interesting uncanny aesthetics from that#altho first i think more people should make n64 like horror games first LOL theres so fewwww but i think its soooooo good#its like almost like ps1 horror but with a slightly weirder overblown looking texturing. slightly different modelling techniques#theres a few games that use an n64 aesthetic but id love to see it more! i really like it
