HAPPY AROMANTIC SPECTRUM AWARENESS WEEK !!!!

since i use a lot of specific microlabels for the flags in this, i have an explanation for all the ones featured here under the read more! if youre allo and want to read, or a questioning potential arospec whod like to hear about some of the spectrum, or just bored, i welcome you to read up on these. also putting closeups under there

closeups:

quoiromantic (roxas) someone who struggles to understand romantic feelings. this can be something like not being able to tell the difference between romantic and other types of attraction, being unsure if you feel romantic attraction, or just Not Getting the whole concept

apothiromantic (alastor, athena) you mightve heard this referred to as being romance-repulsed! its when you both dont feel romantic attraction and are uncomfortable with or even disgusted by romance

aegoromantic (kris) a person who enjoys the concept of romance through things like media and imagining a relationship, but feels no romantic attraction and has no interest in a relationship

aroace (mumbo, athena, lilith) this one isn't actually a microlabel, its just a label for people who are both on the aromantic and asexual spectrum!

demiromantic (apollo) someone who is only able to feel romantic attraction for someone after forming a close relationship with them

cupioromantic (pearl) a person who doesn't feel romantic attraction, but may want a relationship regardless

aroflux (layton) a person whos romantic orientation fluctuates a bit! the amount it can change varies from person to person, with some always feeling as though they're on the aromantic spectrum, and others sometimes feeling like they can switch between alloromantic and aromantic

greyromantic (odysseus) this one can encompass a lot of experiences! the general idea of it is someone who still feels romantic attraction, but less than someone who's allo. this can be that they feel romantic attraction very weakly or infrequently, only feeling it under certain circumstances or not really understanding it, or just not wanting a relationship. it varies a lot from person to person, and can overlap with a lot of other aromantic identities.

recipricromantic (yugi, yami) someone who only feels romantic attraction when they know another person is attracted to them

aroflirt (joker) someone who is aromantic, and usually doesn't want a relationship, but likes to engage in flirtatious behavior

bellusromantic (chiaki) a bit similar to aroflirt, this is when someone has no desire for a relationship and doesnt feel attraction, but has interest in romantic activities outside of a romantic context

arospike (sonic) someone who usually doesn't feel anything romantic, but will suddenly have spikes of romantic attraction that can last for a couple days or months before it goes away again

if you're aromantic and identify with another microlabel that isn't included here, i encourage you to add onto this a bit about your own identity, or just put in the tags some arospec headcanons you like, or whatever! :]

There's a cool moment in Fugitive Telemetry where Murderbot has a realization. (Spoilers...) It likes its plan to rescue the refugees secretly because it's not a "CombatUnit plan" (it's "a 100 percent less murderery"). But more importantly it's a "SecUnit plan ... The point was to retrieve the clients alive and fuck everything else." It's a plan that SecUnits were actually designed for, "despite how the company and every other corporate used us."

This is one of the few times that Murderbot actually refers to itself as a SecUnit positively. It's not SecUnits are terrifying killing machines and "fucking dangerous," it's hey I was designed to do something important. Murderbot, for a moment, forgets all the internalized stigma, the trauma and the self-loathing. It realizes that being a SecUnit is a good thing.

Of course that makes things more tragic when (more spoilers...) the plan goes to shit and Murderbot gets shot by the very people it's trying to save. Because the perception that SecUnits are terrifying killing machines is real. A real perception that Murderbot has long shared. But that it could dispel that perception - at least to itself - for a moment is heartening.

Yay! Vindication! For years I have been telling anyone who will listen to me that this blob, here in Tommy Arnold’s illustration for Home: Habitat, Range, Niche, Territory is Gurathin’s head…

A group of five people (who had clearly until recently being sitting around relaxing in various poses on chairs and a sofa, one is giving another a foot massage, all you can see of one person is their feet) respond to a sixth individual jumping over them (it is Murderbot).

A red arrow indicates what is a possible seventh person sitting behind the people on the sofa.

Since the story Home features Murderbot and six members of PresAux in this scene, and we can see Arada&Overse, Ratthi, Pin-Lee and Bharadwaj with Murderbot (“SecUnit jumped over my head!”) I thought the arrow might show Gurathin doing his loner thing and sitting slightly apart from the rest of them?
