3 years later -
It's been 3 years and college life is exhausting. Between classes, endless assignments, and my political science presentation looming over my head, I barely had time to breathe. Today was no different. I was in class, scribbling notes while trying to keep up with the lecture, when my phone began vibrating incessantly in my bag.
I ignored it at first, assuming it was just another group chat blowing up, but the vibrations didn’t stop. They kept coming, one after another, until I was sure the entire class could hear the faint buzz.
At this point, my phone might as well have been a vibrator.
Finally, I gave in, pulling my phone out discreetly under the desk. The notifications flooding my screen were all from one person.
From Messages:
loml 💕: babyy loml 💕: babyyyy loml 💕: boyfriend being ignored.
To Email: From: To: y/[email protected] Subject: boyfriend being ignored
To Instagram: @jakayyy tagged you in a story: "boyfriend being ignored 😔💔"
To Twitter: @j.k tweeted: boyfriend being ignored....
And then LinkedIn: @jeonjungkook updated his status: boyfriend being ignored... i miss you.
I stifled a laugh, covering my mouth with my hand as I scrolled through the barrage of notifications. Jungkook was relentless, and honestly, it was impressive how far he’d go to get my attention.
I quickly opened my messages to reply.
Me: omygod kook, I was in class 😭 loml 💕: idc I miss youuuu Me: me or Sam and Rachael? loml 💕: both...? Me: I’m in class rn. Don’t you have class too?? loml 💕: I don’t... Me: did you skip??? loml 💕: gee no loml 💕: my classes aren’t until later loml 💕: wanna have dinner with me later? Me: I have a presentation to make.... loml 💕: baby... loml 💕: as much as I love you as my nerd, you NEED a break loml 💕: pleaseee pleaseee Me: fine. Me: I’ll make time. loml 💕: see you later pretty 😉
I sighed, slipping my phone back into my bag. It was impossible to stay annoyed at him for long. Jungkook had a way of breaking through the stress and pulling me back to reality—whether it was through relentless notifications or his absurd LinkedIn updates.
As I tried to refocus on class, my seatmate, Anna, leaned over with her phone.
"Girl, have you seen this?" she whispered, showing me a TikTok video of a girl pranking her boyfriend by telling him they’d split the bill 50/50 at dinner.
I smirked, glancing at the screen. "Yeah, I’ve seen it. What’d your boyfriend say?"
Anna sighed dramatically, shaking her head. "I tried it yesterday. This man pushed the bill to me and didn’t even reach for his wallet. I ended up paying for the whole meal."
"Damn," I chuckled, shaking my head. "You should find a new one."
She groaned, slumping in her seat. "Tell me about it."
As the lecture continued, the thought lingered in my mind. I didn’t like asking people for things, especially money, but the idea of pulling the prank on Jungkook intrigued me.
What would he do?
Jungkook wasn’t like Anna’s boyfriend. For the past two years, he’d gone above and beyond to prove himself to me whether it was getting straight A’s, joining every project he could find, or taking me on dates he planned down to the smallest detail.
-----
I was finishing the last touches of my makeup when I heard a knock at the door.
"Babyyyy!! Boyfriend at your service!" Jungkook’s voice rang out through my ring doorbell, his playful tone making me chuckle.
I opened the door, only to be met with his signature wide grin and a tight hug that nearly lifted me off my feet. His arms wrapped securely around me as he buried his face into my neck.
"Hmmm, I missed you so much," he murmured against my skin, his words accompanied by soft, feather-light kisses trailing from my neck to my lips.
I couldn’t help but melt into him, returning his embrace before he pulled back slightly to look at me. His eyes scanned me slowly from head to toe, and I felt a blush creep up my neck.
"Why are you staring?" I asked shyly, trying to hide my flustered expression.
"Why?" he repeated, a teasing smirk forming on his lips. "Can’t a man look at the most gorgeous woman in his life?"
I rolled my eyes, lightly hitting his arm as he laughed.
"Gosh, let me just wear my heels, and we’ll be good to go,"
We arrived at the diner a little while later, and I was immediately taken aback. The place was fancy too fancy. The kind of fancy that makes you wonder why you didn’t eat at home before coming.
As we walked in, Jungkook kept his hand lightly on the small of my back, guiding me to our table like a gentleman. The menu was placed in front of us, and when I opened it, my eyes nearly popped out of my head.
"Goddamn," I whispered under my breath, scanning the exorbitant prices.
Jungkook, however, seemed completely unfazed. He looked at me with that easy, confident smile. "Go ahead, baby. Order whatever you want."
His words were casual, but the sincerity in his tone made my heart flutter.
Once we finished ordering, the dinner passed like it always did with Jungkook filled with laughter, shared stories, and moments where he’d reach across the table to hold my hand like it was the most natural thing in the world.
"So," he started, resting his chin on his hand as he looked at me. "What’s my nerd been up to today?"
"Same as always," I said, shrugging. "Class, notes, presentation prep..."
He groaned dramatically. "You’re gonna burn yourself out. I told you, you need to relax sometimes."
"I’m here, aren’t I?" I teased, raising an eyebrow.
"True," he said with a grin. "I’ll take what I can get."
Finally, the bill arrived, and I couldn’t help but glance at it from the corner of my eye.
It was time.
"So," I said, feigning nonchalance as I folded my napkin. "What if we split the bill tonight?"
Jungkook paused mid-reach for the check, his eyes snapping to mine.
"What?" he said, his voice calm but laced with confusion.
"You know," I said with a small shrug, "50/50. Equal partnership, right?"
For a moment, he just stared at me, his expression unreadable. Then, he leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms.
"Is this a test?" he asked, narrowing his eyes suspiciously.
"What? No," I lied, trying to keep a straight face.
Jungkook slid his card to the waiter with a firm gesture, cutting me off entirely.
"I’m your man, you’re my woman," he began, his tone steady but laced with conviction. "I am responsible for you and our finances. You’re my future wife, the number one woman in my life, and the mother of my future children. How could I even think of making you pay?"
I blinked, caught off guard by his response. "But—"
"No buts," he interrupted.
Then, as if on cue, his gaze shifted toward my phone. His expression softened, his brows raising slightly as realization dawned.
"Babyyy..." he whined, his voice taking on a playful edge as he looked at me with mock betrayal. "You’re filming me, aren’t you?"
I couldn’t hold back a giggle, my shoulders shaking as I tried to keep the phone steady. "Kook..." I whispered, almost apologetically, though the blush on my face deepened from the vulnerability of his earlier confession.
He sighed, shaking his head but chuckling as he paid for the meal. Once the waiter returned with the receipt, he stood and helped me up like the gentleman he always was.
----
Before he could start the car, I reached out and rested my head on his shoulder.
"You passed the experiment," I muttered softly, the words muffled against his jacket.
He let out a laugh, the deep sound reverberating in his chest. He turned slightly to look at me, his eyes warm as they met mine.
"You’re unbelievable," he said, his voice filled with affection.
We stayed like that for a moment, the silence between us comfortable and familiar. Then, without warning, he leaned in, brushing his lips against mine in a kiss that was soft at first but quickly grew deeper.
His hand cupped the side of my face, tilting my head slightly as he deepened the kiss, pulling me closer.
My heart raced as I kissed him back, my hand curling around the fabric of his jacket. But just as the moment began to intensify, I pulled back slightly, my forehead resting against his.
"Let’s go home first... please?" I whispered, my voice barely audible as I smiled at him.
He chuckled softly, his thumb brushing against my cheek before he leaned back in his seat, his eyes still fixed on me.
"Anything you want, baby," he murmured, his voice full of promise as he started the car and drove us home.

RECENT UPDATES ON THE BAD INTERNET CALIFORNIA BILLS:
Sadly, both AB1949 and SB976 passed and are now on their way to the governors desk.
We need him to veto them so they dont become Law.
If you havent Heard of the danger of those bills for the Internet , this post explain it thoroughly :
- Post doing a deep explanation on those bills here
I CANNOT emphasize enough how these would have a global effect on the Internet given that most websites and apps originates from California and not all of them could afford either following those bills or moving states.
Now, as the bills are on their way to the governor, we need Californian citizens to voice their oppositions to those bills to the Governor Gavin Newsome HERE
(Non California peeps, we are urging you to share this as well!!! )
Please keep in mind that calling with phone is much, much more efficient.
You can also send faxes with Faxzero
Here are scripts you can use as arguments : (text/alt version below the read more )

Than you for reading. Even if youre not from California, please spread the word anyway ! Make posts, tweets, etc
REBLOGS ENCOURAGED
TEXT VERSION :
AB 1949
Hello, my name is (INSERT NAME HERE) and I'm one of the Senator's constituents from (INSERT CITY HERE). I'm calling to urge the Senator to vote NO on AB 1949, the amendment to the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2020. While this bill's intent is to prevent the sharing and sale of minor's information under the age of 18, the method it would intend to do so by is written far too broadly for it to be safely and reasonably implemented.
While this bill retains a safer standard of the business requiring actual knowledge of a consumer being under the age of 18 to be held liable for the sharing or sale of personal information, its wording is still too broad to exclude a default usage of age verification by online businesses in order to protect themselves from liability. Taking measures such as age verification, age assurance, or other data collection and analysis to determine the age of users. Even though measures like this have been proven to be vulnerable to data breaches no matter how secure they proclaim to be. Such as this year's largest discovered breach of AU10TIX, which supplies age verification to companies like TikTok, X, Uber, LinkedIn, Paypal, and many others.
As it stands, this bill is far too broad in its wording and enforcement of its age-specific measures to be considered a safe piece of legislation. Which is why I urge the Senator to vote in opposition to this measure.
Vote NO on AB 1949.
---------------------------
SB 976
Hello, my name is (INSERT NAME HERE) and I'm one of the Assembly member's constituents from (INSERT CITY HERE). I'm calling to urge the Assembly member to vote NO on SB 976, the Protecting Our Kids from Social Media Addiction Act. Although this bill has intent to protect the mental and emotional health of California's youth, the method this bill would intend to use could be counterproductive to that goal, or even endanger them further.
One of this bill's primary measures includes requiring verifiable parental consent to allow websites to display “addictive” feeds to minor users. However, the ways “verify” the identity and age of a responsible parent are often invasive and dangerous. Especially since these methods have proven repeatedly to be vulnerable to data breaches that can leak sensitive information to bad actors. Such as this year's largest discovered breach of AU10TIX, which supplies age verification to companies like TikTok, X, Uber, LinkedIn, Paypal, and many others. To determine if this is necessary at all would also require collecting even more data on minors and non-minors alike to determine who would even require these measures to be set in place. Especially when it would have control over someone's access to a website or application based on the time of day, as this bill would require in order to “reasonably determine” the user is not a minor.
The vagueness of this bill's text at all is dangerous as well. The broad-spectrum definition it gives of “addictive internet-based service or application” could cause an unintended censorship effect where minors and adults alike could be blocked from accessing information purely because some part of a website or application uses a “feed” which could arguably fit the bill's definition of “addictive”
With all of this in mind, I urge the Assembly member to vote in opposition of this measure to protect the privacy and safety of California's minors and adults alike.
Vote NO on SB 976.

Why did the batfam get turned down for a job?
Interviewer: How much experience do you have with kids?
Dick: *flashbacks to prying Tim and Damian apart while Jason eggs them on*
Dick: A good amount.
———————
Interviewer: Can you pass a criminal background check?
Jason: No.
———————
Interviewer: We got a reference from your old coworker, Alvin Draper.
Tim: Oh, that was fast.
Interviewer: He says you suck.
Tim: Pfft, yeah. Some old workplace beef. You think he'd be over it by now.
———————
Interviewer: Do you have a valid driver's license?
Damian: Tt. Age limit this, driver's license that. If this was truly a free country I can get by without one.
Interviewer: Normally I'd agree with you, but we're a traveling petting zoo.
———————
Interviewer: Tell me about—
Killer Croc: *throws a car outside the window*
Duke: Um... gotta use the restroom. Be right back.
[10 minutes later]
Duke: *slides into his chair*
Duke: Where were we?
Interviewer: I was asking you about—
Scarecrow: *plants a fear gas bomb across the street*
Duke: I think my phone's ringing. One moment please.
———————
Interviewer: It says here you were fired from the movie theater. Can you tell me why?
Cullen: I spoiled the end credit scenes of Marvel movies.
Interviewer: And how can we be sure it won't happen here?
Cullen: This is Hot Topic, right?
———————

Interviewer: ...How are you?
———————
Cassandra: *shows up*
Interviewer: For the last time, we're not hiring!
———————
Barbara: There's a typo in your job posting. I also found that your LinkedIn page needs to be updated. Here is my full analysis with all my suggestions. And of course, assuming your application portal is up to date, you can see that I meet all of the qualifications.
Interviewer: Except you must be 35 to run for president.
———————
Interviewer: Why do you want this job?
Harper: Money.
Interviewer: Other than that.
Harper: *thinks for a second*
Harper: No that's it.
———————
Interviewer: What's your greatest strength?
Carrie: I'm double-jointed. I can bend my fingers like this. See?
———————
Interviewer: Please explain this gap in your resumé.
Kate: Don't tell me what to do.
———————
Interviewer: Have you ever stolen from your workplace?
Selina: Never.
*interviewer's wallet falls from Selina's pant leg*
———————
Interviewer: And why should Wayne Enterprises hire you?
Bruce: My name is literally on the building.
———————
Interviewer: We're sorry, Mr. Pennyworth, I don't think you'll be a good fit for us. I heard the Waynes are hiring next door, though.
Alfred: This is preposterous.
Alfred: *leaves*
Alfred: *goes next door*
Alfred: Good afternoon, I am here for—
Martha: Oh thank heavens, he's here.
Thomas: We're late for our conference. Keys are under the mat, the bed still needs to be made, and the baby took a huge crap just now.
Martha: *hands over baby Bruce*
Alfred: I supposed I'm hired then?
Baby Bruce: *blows a snot bubble*
Alfred, chuckling: At your service, young master.

The Gaia Thomas situation
If you don’t use Twitter/X, here is a brief summary of what’s going on for those who use tumblr and have caught glimpses of the current events going on over there related to someone whose name is Gaia Thomas. All information explained here is publicly accessible and can be found if you search on X/Twitter.
Gaia Thomas made two gofundme fundraisers for the following people who needed help in relation to Palestine: Mai Rajab and Kareemadnan. She befriended them and promised the money would go towards them.
Unfortunately as of March 3rd, it seems Gaia had no plans to actually support them and sent Mai a text saying “I am not responsible for your travel. I wish you the best of luck.” And promptly closed the GoFundMe before reopening it. Originally both had been closed but both are open. Mai is the main one who’s posted about it, but Kareem is affected as well.
Currently there has been no updates about what Gaia Thomas has to say about the situation, but a post on Twitter/X made by cérise 🌻 says Gaia is “a disabled writer who is a self-claimed expert in cultural awareness, health and empowerment” (a direct quote from the original tweet) and Gaia does have a LinkedIn page.
The two GoFundMe’s are linked below if you’d like to report them as Gaia isn’t giving the money to the people she was going to help. This post will update if anything changes but I wanted to make a post that explained it without images. The fundraisers were still open as of posting.
Mai fundraiser (Closed now)
Kareem fundraiser (Closed now)
If you want to help Mai and Kareem, their on Twitter/X and their usernames are as follows on there: Mai _Gazan and Kareemalaklouk
Latest update at 3/5/2023 3pm: Following the accusations, Gaia posted this update claiming she was supposedly fell for a scam. The following text is copied from her response on the fundraisers:
Dear donors,
I was the victim of an online scam. My credit union caught the scam when I tried to wire transfer the proceeds of Mai's fundraiser. In the interests of donor safety, I blocked donations at that time. The evidence is in the hands of the Alameda Police Department. Please be aware that this could happen to you. All funds have been repaid in the form of donations to the original fundraiser as requested by the GoFundMe team. I have asked GoFundMe to return the funds to the hands of the original donors.
Sincerely, Gaia Thomas
Latest update at 3/8/2024: All the fundraisers made by Gaia have been closed and you can now find new ones made by someone else that is more reliable then Gaia was. Gaia insists that she was scammed but she wasn’t. She tried to take the money as her own and didn’t like it when she was caught out by the people she was supposed to help. The money donated has been refunded but those funds will likely never reach the three people Gaia was meant to help.

A Guide to Mastery: Finding Your Life's Work
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mastery is what we hope to attain. We hope to get a point where we become master of our fields, experts of our work, and mentors to younger people. But the big question we ask ourselves is "what should I do?" "what can I do?" "what is my purpose in life?" and that is a very big question that we might spend our entire lives trying to figure out.
It is difficult now, especially when we hear people talk about their careers, we see updates on people's career changes on LinkedIn and everyone is vying for a job in big tech, big law, consulting, Wall Street and you feel left out, not good enough, in fact discouraged.
However, you can find fulfillment by taking this self-discovery one step at a time, at a pace that best suits your skills, and still rise to the top.
Here is how to find your Life's work:
Look back to your childhood
Often to figure out what you want to do or who you want to become you have to look back to your past, your childhood. What made you tick? What classes were most fun for you? Who did you enjoy watching or spending time with growing up? The answers can give you a peek into the kind of life you want. Growing up I enjoyed reading biographies of people. I was obsessed with how they became successful and how they set themselves apart - now my writing mirrors that.
2. Find your niche
The uncertainty or discomfort you feel could be caused by not fitting into one field. You feel like you can do a lot more than there is out there. This is a great feeling. if you feel this way do not be discouraged. It is your life's journey to figure out the intersection of your interest. It is a sign that you should try out multiple things. Your career may become an amalgamation of your interest, ideas, disciplines, and fields. Here are some intersections that I found in people I admire:
Design + Technology - Steve Jobs- Apple Co-founder, Brian Chesky - Airbnb Co-founder
Food + Technology - Apoorva Mehta; co-founder Instacart
Culture + Commerce - Most architects, designers fit this category
Science + Art - Trip Hawkins; founder of Electronic Arts
Community + technology - Whitney Wolfe Herd; Founder of Bumble
Food + business: Kaspar Basse; founder of Joe & The Juice
Sportsmanship + design - Phil Knight; co-founder of Nike
Environmentalism + Sportsmanship - Yvon Chouinard; founder of Patagonia
These people are at the top of their fields. You can start by having a double major, or minoring in a totally different field (Art + Finance, Biology + Sports management etc)
3. Resist the pressure of the majority
There is always a group of people on the other side of your interest and skills - parents, friends, professors, peers who want something different from what you aspire to. You love art but they remind you that the pay is meagre, you want be a lawyer but they tell you, you are not good enough for law. You see, the salary you get paid for doing something you love should not stop you from getting started. You will eventually become so good that the value you provide will eventually command a huge compensation but for now bend down and learn.
4. Find a mentor
Once you get a glimpse of what you feel like you want to do. Find a mentor, your mentor could be distant or imminent. A distant mentor could be a renowned expert, a person you stumble upon through a book, an interview etc. Their story inspires you and you somehow you feel seen, you goals aren't so impossible anymore. The imminent mentors are the people you meet through school, work and whose work has some skills you need to learn for your Life's work. Your relationship with them or experience with them is the closest to reality of your Life's Work. Learn as much as you can in this process.
Welcome to my A Guide to Mastery series inspired by the book Mastery.

Do you ever sometimes realize that your phone just sometimes tells you about Some Guy like "Mark Stevens" and you have no idea who that guy is. Like, there'll be a linkedin notification or a facebook update or something, and it's just that they did something. They posted something. They've got a new video. They supported a Kickstarter or uploaded a new 3D model to a repo. The kind of notifications we all get all the time because everything is a social network and it's such an annoyance to go turn turn off.
You're always getting that kind of stuff. But the odd part is, this never inspires you to action and makes you go figure out who Mark Stevens is and remember why you should care. Or perhaps more realistically, just go find that setting and turn it off. Stop all those notifications forever. You don't need that extra noise in your life.
And yet it happens all the time! Every day it happens! Some new Mark Stevens news, which you never click on! Or make shut up! You just dismiss it. Every time.
And here's where that goes from slightly sad mobile phone habits to almost surreal: I swear, it's ALWAYS THE SAME GUY FOR ME.
And somehow that's significantly weirder than this just being a thing which happens with a bunch of guys. Cause you get all kinds of notifications of different kinds of guys across a decent spectrum of interestingness. Sometimes it's "oh wow I gotta go see that right. Now" and sometimes it's "who cares?" and a lot of different spots in between.
But all the ones that fit this specific lowest level of "I never click this I always dismiss it" are always this one single guy.
The only guy I get always-dismiss notifications from that I also never bother muting is just Mark Stevens.
It happens to such a degree that I realized that I recognize Mark Stevens as that guy. I'm reaching for the dismiss button thinking "oh it's that guy that I always get random notifications from".
Like, what? I'm doing this so often I now think of him as that guy, and yet I STILL haven't felt like bothering to go mute him?
That's a weird position to be in. And even saying all that, after realizing I'm in this situation... I didn't go mute/unfollow him! Because that possible action was apparently far less appealing than the alternate action of making a Tumblr post about this slightly strange situation I'm in with my android notifications.
I'm just getting ever so slightly annoyed every day by some guy named Mark Stevens. For God only knows how long.

Hey, so, this post here-- by @hadeelfamily, a woman trying to evacuate her family from Palestine-- is real. She is who she says she is. I'm certain of it.
I've donated myself, and will donate more; for the rest of the year-- or until their need is met-- one half of everything I get selling cross-stitch patterns will go to Hadeel Mikki and her family.
If you would like to see my research and reasons to be certain, it's after the cut.
The fundraiser is for a woman named Hadeel Mikki and her family-- her husband, two daughters, her mother, and her two brothers-- and includes two photos of her:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A search for her name brings up a long internet trail: as a programmer and former computer science major, Hadeel Mikki's been active online, and when she's posting about work stuff-- mostly web and app development-- Hadeel uses her real name and photo.
Tumblr media
I found six different accounts, all using the same name, and all featuring photos of the same woman-- not all identical photos, but separate photos of the same person-- and all with activity dating back at least a year or more.
I've looked over the activity for each, and I do not believe there's any chance that they aren't legitimate.
Two of them are static freelancer websites, and another is an abandoned Pinterest account: the info there matches the others, but there's nothing current. On the other three (LinkedIn, Threads, and TikTok) the most recent posts are all variations on the same theme: "Please help my family. My young daughters are suffering. Please donate to help get us out of Gaza."
They're certifiably real accounts, and they link to the same GoFundMe. Is it possible that either her LinkedIn or Threads or TikTok account could have been hacked and hijacked into posting a scam fundraiser? I guess. But not all three, and not with the ability to post new photos and videos of her kids-- how would a hacker even get footage of a hackee's daughters in war-torn Gaza? You can't just hire some child actors. They need to match the kids from the family portrait.
This is not a scammer using someone else's name and photos, and this isn't an opportunistic hacker who managed to break in and hijack an account: this is a real woman trying to save her family.
I've looked through everything, and am myself convinced. I'll include summaries and screenshots of each account, along with the links if you'd like to check them out yourself.
On LinkedIn: profile from 2015, photo updated a year ago, liked and commented on various tech posts. Shared her GoFundMe four months ago.

On Threads: icon is her and her husband, shares programming content, "#ProgrammersCoffee" etc, and four months ago she shares a link to her GoFundMe. She has the same laptop as me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On TikTok: early videos are about programming and app development, and the current ones are asking for help for her daughters, including photos and videos of the girls both before the war and now.
Tumblr media
On Pinterest: nothing really there. Looks like she tried it out a long time ago and then dropped it. Still links to her long-defunct Google Plus account, even.

Five years ago she did have a board called 'Boyfriend gifts'. Must've gone well for her; they're married now.
