i'll never get over how fascinating eliot's characterization as a hitter. obviously he's trained- military, hand to hand, weaponry, martial arts- that's to be expected. but so often I think in media about like. the Best Hitters in this genre and etc they're characterized by like? not getting hit. they're sooo good that the avoid every punch and catch every kick in mid air and dodge bullets and etc and that's not Eliot at all. he lets himself get punched in the face. he gets kicked and bowled over and uses that shift in momentum to his advantage. he gets knocked to the ground and the guys he's fighting think he's down for the count for only one moment before Eliot Spencer gets back up. because he always gets back up- but that character trait is Only compelling IF he gets knocked down enough for it to MATTER. and he DOES! and his fighting skills- they're not innate, they're not a natural inclination to fighting, its training and knowledge- he can talk about details and styles at length, he can (and does!) teach the others how to take and throw a punch, which speaks even more to his skill and knowledge and ability. he's the hitter because he's been doing it so long. because he fights to survive and he isn't afraid to get hit and lose the fight to win the battle. god. Eliot Spencer. character of all time

a moment of silence for all us disabled ones who had to watch each of their friends move on with their lives without you and get jobs, go to school, have partners come and go, get engaged and move house etc.
shout out to my fellow struggling people who are still sitting in the same bedroom they grew up in. the ones who can't get a job, can't make new friends, can't find a partner or partners, can't move house and can't go to school.
I hope one day we can all find someone to at least sit with us in our rooms. I see you and I understand... and I'm sorry we can't be that person for each other

"you only say you're autistic because you want to feel special and different" actually finding out i was autistic made me feel significantly less special and different. before i was autistic i was Strange and Unpredictable in some sort of Unknowable way which Surely meant i was Predestined for Greatness (like storybook character). now im just some fuckin autistic guy like any other. i significantly prefer it this way btw

So many writers put so much work into their robot lore and how the robots work and where the components are and meanwhile I'm just like
Tumblr media
High research writers with actual notes on how robots work: I both respect and fear you. And most of all love you.

I think Deceptibee AU fans should consider the hilarious potential of a Starscream and Bee dynamic in this kind of situation—

as an exercise in futility (bc i'm incapable of fully convincing myself either way), i wanna lay out the arguments for both sides:
reasons why it might be asd: the meltdowns (if that's what they actually are), emotional dysregulation (admittedly normally taken in the negative direction), executive dysfunction, some stimming behavior present now & when i was younger, moderately sensitive to yelling & too many people talking at once, undersensitive / higher threshold for pain & smell, listening to music as often as i possibly can especially if i'm out in public, randomly smelling things & my gf, becoming stressed if experiencing too many sensory stimuli (e.g. playing on my switch, trying to listen to music, and trying to have a conversation with my gf -- i'm not entirely sure that this isn't just normal), fear of public spaces (admittedly this may be a mostly trans thing), high correlation between being trans & having autism, difficulty tracking more than one verbal convo at a time, rsd (again if that's what it actually is), seen as mean when i was younger which i put a lot of conscious effort into not being now, frequently misinterpreting the words & actions of others, being very sensitive to other's emotions but having a hard time putting myself in their shoes, difficulty advocating for needs or expressing how i really feel (my mom used to describe the act of getting me to open up to pulling teeth), generally flat affect (not completely monotone although i may lean this way when i'm stressed), finding it difficult to initiate conversations so i typically only do if i need something, failing at back & forth conversation if it's not about my interests, social smiling & small talk make me uncomfortable, understanding other people & making friends has always been incredibly difficult for me, taking things too literally at times, difficulties with motor control in childhood & in adulthood (had to go to OT when i was younger), somewhat persistent speech impediment during childhood (stopped speech therapy in middle school, had most difficulty with the R sound), lost friends & relationships due to things i've said or done without thinking or intentionality
reasons why it might not be asd: could be the combined result of my gad & bpd & transness, the sensory difficulties i think i'm seeing have other people at their center (again possibly pointing to my gad instead), responded to my name when i was younger, engaged in and still very much enjoy imaginative play, having good emotional intelligence at times, generally none of my symptoms (excepting things that fall under A1-A3) are as bad as what i've heard or seen from others, while i benefit from routine it feels almost impossible to set up for myself, hard to remember specific special interests for some ages (as a rule, if i like a game, i will generally only want to play it until i'm thoroughly bored with it - minecraft & roblox especially were major special interests when i was younger), weak evidence for sensory sensitivity (hard to make arguments for highly specific or wide reaching sensitivities aside from the meltdowns -- i honestly think what i experience in this area could just be anxiety), difficult to argue that my 'repetitive behaviors' cause significant impairment (i consider most of these to be quirks for the most part)
EDIT: thought it might be nice to put my results for the various different screening tests here, so here lol
Psych Central: 23/40
Aspie Quiz: 154/200
AQ: 36.5/50 (average, i've taken this one many times)
RAADS: 150/227

Here's how to spot a Mad Scientist:
Is very smart in a specific field
Probably hasn't slept in the past 4 days
Depressed
Slowly decends into madness/spirals/gets obsessed over something to the point where they destroy their lives over it
Here are other minor signs you might want to look out for (doesn't apply to all Mad Scientist):
Very pathetic. A loser, if you will
Is gay
Wears glasses
Has a best friend who is extremely friendly and also a poet
Graying hair despite their relatively youthful appearance
Can be a little bit silly (as a treat)
Note that not all Mad Scientists are actual scientists. The Mad Scientist can be disguised as something else and may try to trick you; do not be fooled. Look for these traits to identify a real wild Mad Scientist.
Now you are ready to go out into the wild and find your very own Mad Scientists to hyperfixate on for the next month! Hope this helped❤️

When the test subject they told you was aggressive is actually just angsty and autistic
.
I figured if Wheatley were a human he would probably be part of a team that cares for test subjects. Which involves basic medical checkups and general wellness checks. Maybe in Chells case, since she’s so anti-social, he was tasked to be a sort of companion so they could get more information out of her for testing purposes. :3 he’s classified as a nurse and has basic training in it. But he’s not making sense because he’s kinda scared of Chell at first. She just thinks he’s weird and kinda smells bad.
.
I have a hc on why Chell is a test subject I’m just gonna try to write it here
Basically her mother was too young and poor to raise a child so she felt it better to put Chell up for adoption. The orphanage she was raised in was being used by aperture to scout out children with certain “exceptional skills”. They noticed that Chell was highly intelligent and a great problem solver, but had no interest in spending time with others. She had no friends. And none of the other children noticed or cared when she left. She was probably adopted by a high ranking scientist and raised for the specific purpose of testing. She has little concept of social norms or things outside of aperture because she was taken from a “normal” environment so young. [like. Before she was 10 maybe? Idk.] but it doesn’t mean she’s dumb or anything, she just doesn’t really get it yk. Sorry if this is actually so stupid and embarrassing ignore me
