I want to write a Vanyel/Stefen modern-with-magic AU soooo bad but I don’t know Valdemar lore like at all. There are six books standing between me and feeling comfortable enough in the lore to imagine what Valdemar might look like with the internet and planes

During Trump's Term, General Mark Milley Personally Intervened To Prevent Trump Starting A War With China Or Using Nuclear Arms.
But if Trump is reelected, there will be no General Milley. Central to Project 2025 is to restaff the Federal government (those positions not eliminated entirely) with partisans loyal only to Trump, not the Constitution.
A second Trump presidency won't be like the first. There will be no "adult in the room"- they'll all be fired. There will only be yes men, egging on Trump's darkest impulses- or blundering into disaster through shear stupidity and incompetence.
"But how can he do that", you say?
Who's going to stop him? Congress? It can pass laws, but it has no independent means to enforce them, even if Republicans didn't end up holding it too. The Supreme Court? You mean the same Supreme Court who's 6/3 Republican majority voted to keep him on the ballot despite being an adjudicated insurrectionist, and to give him Presidential immunity for many of his crimes?
If Trump is reelected, he will be, as he promised, "a dictator on day one". There will be no one around him to stop him from doing whatever whim strikes his increasingly demented brain.
Studies have shown that a full-scale nuclear war would wipe out nearly all food production in the Northern Hemisphere (and do considerable damage elsewhere) due to the pollution temporarily blocking out the Sun (the so-called "nuclear winter"). Which means that a majority of the human race (those not killed outright in the initial detonation or within the early days from radiation poisoning) would likely die a slow, agonizing death of starvation.
This election isn't just about saving America. It's about saving the world. It is very possible, with zero hyperbole, that if Trump wins reelection, most of the people reading this will not live to see him leave office.

HATE ME IF YOU LIKE, but Tales of the Hidden City for Mikey’s part should have been something like that conversation between Amethyst and Pearl when they’re at her colony. Like “You four are the only good things that came out of all those years. I always thought you were proud of that.” Mikey having to face doubt in himself for the first time. Questioning if they ruined their dad’s life (and yes I do think the other three boys have already considered this). I wanna draw this but I have no time ever these days
YES YES YES YES YOU'RE SOOOOO RIGHT,,,, it would have been so much more compelling if splinter's trauma was taken more seriously and it meant that mikey really had to confront that for the first time, as well as confront the ambiguity of his own existence and his forgiveness for draxum. it kind of felt like he already came out with the right idea, but i dont really like the way he pushed it onto splinter and acted like it was something he should give draxum credit for.
being a single parent was hard, splinter's life was horrible, and he shouldn't have to feel grateful or forgiving or give draxum props. there's no taking that back, but he'd never resent his children for it. getting to see them grow meant the world to him, and it wasn't really something draxum deserves credit for tbh. it also feels like it could be an extension of end game, to an extent, where splinter puts his boys over his own legacy,,,

kinda thinking about how first class would’ve played out if moira never saw shaw and his mutants
first of all cherik wouldn’t of met
charles and raven would probably stay in england for a while
erik either managed to drown himself trying to catch that submarine or somehow manages to kill shaw and continued to hunt n*zi’s (maybe)
hank would still be working at the cia
angel would either still be at the strip club or got herself a better job
alex would be in prison still
sean would be living his life
and darwin still driving taxis
damn all this happened cause of moira
now a new question what would cheriks first meeting be cause idk if charles would be in miami at that exact time erik is
maybe they manage some kinda meet cute thing or wateva
idk my brain is kinda deflated this is all it can manage
Tumblr media
this would never of happened if it weren’t for moira damn

I hate nuke ending if I'm being honest. Not in terms of the narrative (narratively it's quite beautiful) but in terms of ideological reasoning behind anyone using nuclear weapons in general and any attempt of painting it as justifyable. If you think Markus is justified in pushing the button and if you would actually push it if you were in his place, genuinely, why?

Idk if this is a hot take or not but I feel the need to stress: no discussion about the bombings of hiroshima and nagasaki has any reason to mention Japanese war crimes. Literally nothing a government does justifies killing random people who happen to live in that government's territory. It is genocidal rhetoric to act as if a group of people can do something that justifes killing massive amounts of them.
There is an idea in western culture that we can judge warcrimes based on how "good" of a group were the victims. This dates back to the conquest of the Aztec empire, where things that horrified Europeans at the time where justified by bringing up terrible things done by the Aztec government. People defend the Spanish empire on those grounds today. It's so pervasive that it'll even come up when people are talking agaisnt genocides (they'll bring up native groups being peaceful as the reason why westward expansion was bad, as if them being human wasn't enough).
Would Russia be justified in nuking the US because the US government committed warcrimes in the middle east? (Actually speaking of Russia, you'll see this rhetoric when tankies bring up Ukraine's nazi problem.) Because if not, and you think hiroshima and nagasaki were justified, then you have to give a reason other then the fact that you judge the lives of westerners and nonwesterners differently.
If someone brings up crimes a group committed, real or imaginary, when arguing about atrocities committed agaisnt them, they've already told you that they don't believe people of that group have rights, that they believe anything can be done to them if it's justified.
There is no crime someone can commit, that's so bad that it justifies killing a stranger who happens to speak the same language as them.

I'm going to be blunt: There is literally nothing-NOTHING-in this world more important right now than keeping Trump and Republicans out of power.
He could easily blunder us into nuclear war, or cause one with his invitation to Putin to invade Europe (and he just picked a VP who supports territorial concessions by Ukraine). But even more than that, while Biden has set us on track to cut carbon emissions in half by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050, Trump's approach to the climate crisis is to actively promote more fossil fuels, and actively suppress and ban alternatives. If he wins, BILLIONS could and probably will die.
Whatever you do to help Democrats beat Trump, it may very well be the most important thing you ever do in your life.
