This account does not recognize Donald J. Trump, P01135809, as the legitimate President elect or President of the United States, on the grounds that a strong Constitutional argument exists for his disqualification for breaking his oath of office by committing insurrection under the 14th Amendment, Section 3, and that a President, who's oath office includes defending the Constitution, being someone who has pledged to blatantly disregard it is a fundamental contradiction. This account recognizes Kamala Harris as the LEGITIMATE canddiate who received the most votes and electors-indeed the most votes of any legitimate candidate in every state. While this account harbours no illusions that Harris has been or will be certified or sworn in as President, it will therefore refer to Kamala Harris as President-elect Harris. This account supports:Democracy.Joe Biden. The Rule of Law.A Two-State Solution.Ukraine.2SLGBTQIA+ People. The Space Program.Amber Heard.Kamala Harris. It opposes:Monarchy.Capitalism.Billionaires.Patriarchy.R*pe/Sexual Assault.White Supremacy.Xenophobia.Republicans.Putin.Netanyahu.Hamas/Houthis/the Iranian Regime/etc.The Xi RegimeCovid Denialism.Fascism/Nazis.Collective Punishment.Genocide/Mass Murder of Civilians.Got a problem with any of this? The Census going down strikes me as particularly terrifying.
Like they want to obscure how many of certain groups of people there are.
Great.

Yes, there are many disenfranchised people in Blue States. There are also many disenfranchised people in "Red States" as I noted above - especially as they tend to be the states with the heaviest voter suppression. Collectively blaming everyone who lives in a "Red State" or treating them as dead weight to be discarded is prejudiced and unjust.
The idea of Blue States seceding and then helping people in Red States is a nice one, but everything I have seen in the last few years makes me think that the likelier outcome, if they somehow achieved independence, would be for the seceding Blue States to close their borders, leaving tens of millions of marginalized, non-fascist Americans trapped in "Red States" with little hope of escape or support.
I have no doubt that escaping from the US sounds appealing to many people right now. But states would not simply be able to secede and then go their own way. The US would still be ruled by a fascist regime, one which is already threatening wars of conquest against its already-sovereign neighbours. Heck, the MAGA regime is pursuing at least three separate policies-increasing fossil fuel use/attacking green energy, bird flu denialism, and threats of war against (former) allies including NATO countries-that pose a direct, immediate existential worldwide threat.
Which is why I will also disagree with your view that you have "no direct stake in this". American or not, like it or not, everybody has a stake in this. This isn't something anybody can walk away from.
Since more people are proposing Blue State secession as a solution to MAGA fascism, let me just point out 3 things:
The regime would not just let you secede, the law would actually be on their side on this one (states cannot unilaterally secede, this was decided by a little thing called the Civil War), and even if you won the protracted (potentially nuclear) civil war that would likely follow, the regime would remain a threat to its neighbours as long as it exists, as all fascist states do and as it currently is to Mexico, Canada, etc. The only lasting solution is to remove the regime from power, not separate from it.
It is popular in certain (I suspect mostly white) Liberal circles to go "Hur hur, fuck those red state hicks, we don't need them." But "red states" include tens of millions of people, many of them from "minority" or marginalized identities and targets of the regime, who do not support what is happening. Including, for a start, the entire Southern Black population. "Red states" are also typically voter-suppressed states. Proposing to free yourself of America's problems by discarding those people because you pretend they all asked for it is IMMENSELY bigoted, privileged, and selfish. Its basically just MAGA's thinking on an interstate rather than international scale- we can make ourselves "great again" by keeping those inferior Others out.
Fascism and oligarchs succeed by dividing the opposition. They CONSTANTLY employ divide and conquer tactics and rhetoric to split their opposition apart and pit them against each other. To be blunt, if you see any proposal which frames itself as "progressive" or "liberal" or "resistance" but involves throwing certain people under the bus- assume its a fascist psy-op. Certainly Musk and P01135809's friends in the Kremlin could not hope for a bigger win than the fragmenting of the United States, to counter/avenge the breakup of the Soviet Union.
In summary: Talk of Blue State secession is not resistance. It is running away. It is a fantasy for people who want, as Americans, to be able to wash their hands of responsibility for America's problems and the threat its regime now poses to the world by discarding tens of millions of vulnerable Americans as dead weight. And it is playing directly into the enemy's hands, by dividing the opposition so they can devour us one by one.
The ONLY solution is to remove the fascist regime from power, and rebuild and restructure America from the ground up. Anything else is a distraction.

Your attempt at ad hominem and "poisoning the well" by attacking my citizenship status is contemptible, bigoted, and worthy of a MAGA. Though, it is not the first and doubtless will not be the last time that some supposed "progressive" tries to imply that I am not a "real" American and claim I do not have a right to an opinion because my mother is Canadian. Just as I'm sure many Canadians will soon regard me as an enemy, because my father was American.
2. As to your claim that my dual citizenship is a "refuge" which disqualifies me from criticizing Americans, any such privilege is limited and likely temporary. I will remind you that the United States just initiated an economic war on Canada, in pursuit of the goal of annexing us outright. A border will not keep me or anyone else safe from an expansionist fascist regime, which is one of many reasons why advocating Blue State secession as a solution is imbecilic.
3. My post was not even addressed to you, but if you take such offence to it, well... a hit dog hollers.
4. I can and will speak my mind on a matter of great national and international significance, concerning BOTH of my countries, as is my right and duty to do so. I stand by what I said: fantasies of Blue state secession are driven by bigotry and a desire to just wash your hands of the situation, and ultimately play into the enemy's hands. And that makes it the concern of every person on the God damn planet.
5. Your use of private messages to engage in harassment is noted. I won't report you, because one of the first rules for living in a fascist state is "don't be a snitch," but I WILL block you.
6. So far, I have spoken primarily as an American. Now let me speak as a Canadian: You have insulted my country and my citizenship at a time when your government is starting an unprovoked trade war and threatening a war of conquest against us. Canadians are not in a mood to tolerate any bullying from Americans right now, and you have made it clear that you have no interest in solidarity with us, since you find even being a dual citizen contemptible and worthy of abuse.
But why should we expect solidarity from you, when you take such offence at the idea that you should have any with your fellow Americans?
Go fuck yourself.
Since more people are proposing Blue State secession as a solution to MAGA fascism, let me just point out 3 things:

Unfollowed. You made your point with your exquisitely linguistic sanctimony. I thought we may have had something in common; boy was I wrong. Rest assured, I will not reblog any of your posts ever again.
I don't even know what you're complaining about, but given that your post is both remarkably pretentious and condescending in tone while feeling compelled to insulting me for using big words instead of just unfollowing or blocking, I think I can safely say that you are both an anti-intellectual hypocrite and someone with deep insecurities, and your absence from my posts will be no loss.

If you have an iPhone, especially the newer models, you may want to ditch them.
DO NOT download iOS 18.3 under any circumstances.
This includes if you're outside the US (maybe even more so then, as Americans' privacy and security is fucked regardless since Muskrat has access to government data).
I've never been so glad I have an antique phone that's operating on 14.something.

I'm from South Africa. For whatever it is worth, I do not think less of you or your country for the actions of the man in office. Democracy is a chaotic thing and one as large as yours is bound to be a mess to manage.
I wish you courage for the days ahead and to ask you not to worry over things you can't change.
God bless you 🇺🇸🇿🇦
Thanks, and we don't hold Musk against you either.
Ben Franklin was asked when they finished the Constitution "well Dr. Franklin, what kind of Government do we got?" "A Republic, if you can keep it"
any of us alone can not keep Democracy alive, but if none of us try it'll surely die. So worry don't worry, idk, but I'll do what I can how I can and I think everyone should.
where ever we are its a dark time for Democracy, parties that don't fundamentally believe in it, are on the march, almost everywhere leaders are talking populist nonsense to blind the people into giving away their rights. But I'm not without hope, never without hope. I think Ukraine and its Revolution of Dignity serves as a great example of these times.
but on the most basic level, politics, is not for some other group of people, its for you, its yours, demand that, wherever you are.

To be clear I don't want a trade war with Mexico (or even China)
but Trump breaking our relationship with Canada, Canada, our ever friendly, dependable, helpful brothers to the north, is particularly hurtful. It feels like an abusive step-father banning you from a favorite cousin's house because they want to isolate you to keep beating you. It's painful and heart breaking and your cousin keeps asking you to explain and you can't.
sorry Canada, I didn't vote for him, I campaigned against him hard, but a bunch of idiots voted to blow up everything and hurt everyone so do what you have to do, maybe if you inflict maximum pain some people will wake up.
and to Americans reading this, I can't over stress we have FOREVER damaged our relationship with our neighbor, biggest trading partner, military and strategic ally, we fought WWII with them guys, and they are NEVER gonna look at us the same way again. We might repair the relationship in future but it'll never be as full a friendship as it was last month.

That's a beautiful story.
But also terrifying, because now we must wonder if even the Washington National Cathedral is enough to protect his grave from desecration, when the kind of people who killed him now rule in Washington.
In case you needed another reason to like her
