the niemoller poem is actually really fucking annoying because i hate the progressive premise. yes yes neat commentary on goyiche conplacency, mmhm, but it wasnt first they came for whatever and i warmed my thumb in my ass, then they came for jews and my thumb stayed planted in my hole. they were coming for jews constantly the entire time for more than 2000 years straight. there has never been a time where they have not come for jews. you just didnt notice until it got inconvenient for you personally. and i know, what's what he addresses in the poem, but the "first they came, and then they came" premise makes it seem like germans were sliding down a slippery slope, but they were not. they've been coming for jews the actual entire time. you have always been at the bottom of the slope, you never slid an inch.

people treat the niemoller poem as though it's fucking sacrosanct but its not, its barely admissable baby steps. maybe if it were "and then i realized they had been coming for x for centuries" but that isnt what he wrote

It's crazy how like 2 years ago there was so much education online about dog whistles and how they're called such because they seem normal or normal enough to people not in the know, but signal those in the know that they also wish harm upon a specific group.

People will really say that they’re “just anti-Zionist” or “just anti-genocide” and definitely not anti-Jewish with their whole chest. But then they’ll turn around and say that Jewish languages are “triggering”, that Jewish symbols are “violent”, and that Jewish holidays are “tone deaf” or “in poor taste”.

Even if those people believe that their intentions are pure? Even if they believe with their whole heart that they aren’t being bigoted? That they have absolutely nothing in common with white supremacists? None of that changes the actual impact their actions have on Jews, which is to make us feel like every trace of our culture and identity has to be hidden in order to have a shot of acceptance and safety in a non-Jewish society.

Zvi Kogan Z"L was 28. He did his mandatory IDF service likely probably years ago, probably years before he went to the UAE in 2020 where he has been ever since.
