DC X DP PROMPT #12
Jack, Maddie, and Vlad have made their way into a nice little poly. They have worked tirelessly in order to keep their family safe. With the GiW not backing down any time soon they are constantly on edge. This all tips over when the Danny's are injured to the point where the only thing that could be found to help is to age them down. The poly takes this as their chance to start over.
With Jazz already in college they decide to just move to her. What's Gotham compared to world-renowned ecto-biologists and a full grown halfta? Not a lot apparently. Gotham stood no chance.
Jason is checking out the new obviously meta family that just moved in on the edge of his territory. They had four kids, one college-level and three Irish twins. They were a bit excentric, but from what Jason could tell, it was probably a newfound freedom from whatever discrimination they faced in their small Midwestern town of origin.

Most children, once they've grown up and moved out, sometimes come back to visit their parents to use their house as a sort of personal grocery store
And with Bruce being a literal billionaire whose house is always stocked with food and supplies, the batkids (that aren't living in the manor) definitely visit just for the purpose of taking shit for themselves.
---
For Dick, it's just small things, food and maybe some utensils. Bruce is barely in the kitchen so he never notices dishes go missing, and there are like 10 other children in his house so literally any one of the younger kids could've stolen food in the middle of the night, so he doesn't bat an eye at all.
Babs probably steals Bruce's hardware or his tools from the batcave. Sometimes, if she's nice, she'll leave a note.
Steph probably takes shit that no one will notice at the time but will absolutely be annoyed about when they need said thing. Stapler, soap bars, the microwave plate, etc...(Taking after Jason, she steals the hub caps off the batmobile's tires)
However, for Jason, once his relationship with Bruce is somewhat decent, of course he's gonna be petty and start stealing the more expensive shit in the manor for his apartment. Jason's microwave is broken? The next day, the cave's self-made and enhanced microwave made by Bruce for convenience is just gone.
Jason's feeling a coffee maker for his place? The one in Bruce's study disappears, too.
---
At first, Bruce thinks he's just sleep deprived, but then much bigger things start to go missing, like the whole TV and couch set in the living room. He assumes the younger kids are just playing pranks on him (sounds like something Stephanie would do) but then Bruce notices that the thief deliberately avoids stealing things from the kitchen, which is where Alfred is most of the time, and suddenly Bruce has an irritated clue on who the culprit is.
At first, he doesn't say anything, until one day he comes back, tired from a patrol, and is about to log in all the info on the computer only to realize his batchair is gone. That's when he texts Jason a blunt "If you really need things for your place, you can just ask me. I'll buy them for you." (As if Jason himself isn't loaded from his totally legal activities)
---
So now Jason's pettiness levels increase tenfold, and oh, wouldn't you look at it, his bike needs some new tires, and he knows a great place to get some more.
One night, Bruce is just blearily getting up for a late night snack, only to see Damian scamper away with a...lamp? So Bruce immediately follows him into the foyer only to see ALL of his kids (sans the ones not living in the manor), trying to haul two arm chairs out the window, and they just stop dead silent to stare at him until someone whispers a nervous "Crap"
Bruce doesn't even have any energy to fight, he just pinches his nose and is all "What is the meaning of this" in his tired dad voice. And Duke meekly responds with "we wanted more chairs at Jason's place"
And suddenly it all makes sense. Not once did Bruce wonder how the HELL Jason managed to lug a whole 60in TV and a full couch set on his own in one night. Of course, he had accomplices. Bruce just turns right around and goes right the hell back to his room to sleep. He'll deal with this in the morning.

Let’s be honest, the only thing funnier than Dick and Bruce trying to co-parent Damian is Dick, Bruce, and Jason trying to co-parent Damian.

Tim was four days into a sleep deficit so he felt that to say that this predicament was his fault was a bit of a reach.
For it to be his fault he would have had to cognizant of the last 16 hours.
All he wanted to do was take a power nap in the nearest closest durring the Waynetech gala but nooo Bruce had to be taken hostage by the Joker.
So he did what he thought would work best and shoved uncle Clark into the nearest emergency bat storage and told him to suit up.
Maybe he looked a bit more confused than normal but they didn’t need a reporter they needed Batman!
That being said wasn’t uncle Clark supposed to be off-world?
Oh no.
———————
Jack honestly had no clue what was happening for the last six months so when he was told to be Batman he merely just shrugged as the frankly exhausted teen left him to his own.
With his son turning out to be part ghost to the government hunting down his said son and having to move shop halfway across the continent.
This might as well happen.
Grinning like a kid on Christmas, Jack plopped on the finishing touch.
“Oh Danno is not going to believe this!”
Raising a cloaked arm with a flourish Jack struck a pose.
“Alrighty Jack enough messing around! Time to save the party, Fenton style!
Shifting his feet, Jack took a deep breath before smoothing his face the best he could. After all, couldn’t have a smiling Batman! Before walking out the room and taking running leap through the wall to the streets of Gotham before grappling to the nearest building.

Making Heads Turn 🫨
Jason had become a father to a little baby boy, taking him in when he found the poor thing on the streets, in a cardboard box, wrapped in a space themed blanket.
While the obstacles a new parent goes through is tough. He knows it's worth it to have Danny, his baby, his son in his life. He doesn't regret adopting him.
Danny is now at the stage of his little life that he babbles and giggles, Jason always had fun having a conversation with his baby. Although Jason's sure that his hair is getting whiter with the chaos Danny brings now ever since Danny's baby brain realized that he can CRAWL to PLACES >:D
However this new development... is a little strange.
Whenever Jason puts Danny down in his crib to make dinner or any other important errand. Danny will begin to babble to the air, as if his little tyke is trying to talk to someone, making grabbing hands and scooching over to grab someone's attention.
It sent a slight shiver down his spine...
Ever since he made his introduction to Gotham as Red Hood, for the first time to those gang leaders with the bang of the AK-47. Taking over the Gotham underworld by storm with anger and precision.
He always felt a chill down his spine... When he was alone, yet... the Pit Madness flared everytime, making him feel enraged and paranoid. As if he was just waiting for a fight... for a confrontation...
Being alone in his apartment, having nightmares, more like repressed memories of what he had done... Lots of things, but for some reason—his mind... keeps going back to the moment he threw that duffel bag at the table infront of the gang leaders that night... the night he went after the lieutenants, taking their heads.
He doesn't know why.
But ever since the precious cargo that was his baby Danny, arrived in his life. That all went away as he took care, fed, and loved his baby boy.
Jason never had an episode with Danny; he couldn't bare the thought of hurting the child.
Jason was even having less episodes when he was with the Bats!
The chills; however, Jason still feels them occasionally... but they would always disappear the moment Danny would demand attention or to nap.
And instead he would feel something else hang over his baby everytime Danny slept peacefully...
———
Second ever DPxDC prompt that I've ALSO been getting brainrot over ❤️ I'm having fun 😄
Basically this prompt idea is Jason adopting a baby Danny, while seemingly unaware that he's being haunted/watched by the people's he's killed to become a crime lord. More specifically, being haunted by the heads/headless ghosts of the lieutenants Jason killed as Red Hood.
While Jason can't seem to see them, he can feel 'chills' from them. Danny, however, CAN see them mostly because I based this on that thing where babies/toddlers can see spirits in those typical YouTube videos that list ToP 5 ScArY gHOstZ VidEOz!1!1
Whatever happened though, this causes the ghosts to instead focus more on Danny than on Jason.
How much will Jason freak the fuck out when he finds out? Who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Although Danny is absolutely having fun here ^^
Anyways, I might add extra stuff soon to this!

I feel like people dont lean into just how complicated dick and jasons relationship could and should be.
Give me these two boys who were thrown together, who didn't really fit together or get along, whose age gap was just a little too big for them to fully understand each other when they met, forced into this role of brothers even when they didnt feel that way.
Give me a young jason todd, so confused and annoyed that the guy who's supposed to be his big brother, his mentor won't even come home once a week to have dinner, who doesn't talk to him, and ignores everything he does.
Give me a hurt dick grayson, who is so angry with bruce and pissed off at the idea of being replaced that he just cant look at his new brother, even though he doesn't blame him.
Give me a dick grayson who never fully saw jason todd as his brother until it was too late.

my favorite part about a potential “Bruce Wayne adopts Percy Jackson” type of crossover is that Percy gets to attend galas, and thus potentially meet Rachel and Piper early on

Having a Homer Simpson "d'oh!" moment because I missed/forgot some pivotal information on the Zur situation that happened a few issues ago.
Zur created Failsafe and erased the memory of how to stop him. He also created a batcave under Bruce's batcave. (Batman #127 / Batman #136)
Bruce literally mentioned that Zur "poisoned the well" and put doubt in Bruce's head and heart. Bruce questioned, "What else has he done?" (Batman #136)
Bruce locked Zur away in his mind, and they were at odds with each other because Bruce didn't want Zur taking over, and Zur wanted out because he perceived Bruce's insecurities and doubts as his mind being "under attack." He wanted out to fulfill his purpose. (Batman #136)
In a flashback, Zur took over Bruce's body without Bruce even knowing. One minute, Bruce was trying to solve a case, and in the next, Zur was doing his own thing. When he gave up control to Bruce again, Bruce simply carried on with his previous thought as if he hadn't been personality swapped at all. (Batman #136)
Zur tried to tell Bruce what to do. Bruce snapped and yelled at him, reminding Zur that he (Zur) was in a cage. Bruce reassured himself, "He's in a cage. I'm in control." (Batman #137)
Now there was a moment in Batman #136 where Bruce started to panic because he couldn't see the future or whatever, so he didn't know how he could save everyone he loved, and he wondered how far he could go before it all burned away.
And then in Batman #137/Catwoman #57, Bruce realized that he no longer owned the manor, and he kinda started spiraling and talking about how even if he lost the manor/his wealth, he wouldn't lose his soldiers.
"They can't be bought. But they can be saved."
Notice the fact that Bruce used the term "soldiers." Because guess what? In Batman #127, Zur referred to Tim and the other members of the family as soldiers, and Bruce angrily corrected him.
"And Tim isn't my soldier! HE'S MY SON!"
SOOO. Do you see where I'm kinda going with all this? Bruce not knowing when Zur takes over? Zur being able to erase memories? Zur using "soldier" in his own dialogue color, and Bruce using the term "soldier" in his own dialogue color? Bruce saying that Zur "poisoned the well."
AND NOW, in today's issue, Zur forcibly took over to try and kill Joker again. And you know what was said?
Bruce: No! I'm in control! I'm--
Zur: You're not in control, we (Zur) are.
BRUCE CANNOT CONTROL ZUR. HE CANNOT. He thinks he can, and he thought he had it under control, but Bruce doesn't have shit under control!

Something something Bruce love Gotham because it's his home, jason loves Gotham because it's in his soul, Duke loves Gotham because it's his family, Steph loves Gotham on purpose
#the void screams#duke thomas#bruce wayne#jason todd#stephanie brown#each member of the batfam having a complicated relationship with gotham is something that can be so personal-#but yeah bruce loves gotham because this is where his family has always lived. leaving would mean leaving them behind.#he loves gotham because it's the only home he's ever known#i don't know what fucked up tether there is between gotham and jason. compells me though.#even when he leaves he can't stay away along. gotham's in his head. in his soul. it's where he's alive and it's where his life is drained#the people of gotham are duke's family and he wants to protect them the way they've always tried to protect him#the city is the people and duke knows these people. he's one of them. he's seen what they go through to survive because#he goes through it too. he loves gotham because it's his whole world. his family. and he'll protect that family#until he dies.#steph though? steph grew up here and hated it. hated the city. resented the people. resented the heroes.#and still every fibre of her being goes into loving this city. into hoping for it.#on purpose. she's going to love this city on purpose. even when it hurts. even when she'd rather die.#even when the whole CITY turns against her. time and again. because she's already decided.#she's going to love gotham. even if gotham never loves her back.#don't mind me i am just rambling nonsensically. i am right though by the way. it doesn't make sense but it's Correct

Word Count: 1,537 words
Summary: Bengal is a young child who likes talking with sign language more than words, and her mother never lets her go out in Gotham at night. So what happens when they're at the laundromat and Bengal gets lost in the ever-darkening streets of Gotham?
Author's Note: My friends and I have written a whole fanfic and this is part of my character's backstory. I had to share because it's just too cute.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Oh my sweet Tiiiiiigerlily!” Bengal heard the call of her mother through the garden, but she was remiss to leave. Plants were easier to interact with than people. Plants didn’t force you to say anything you didn’t want to. Plants didn’t laugh at you just because you talked more with sign language than actual words.
Plants didn’t say mean things to you just because you twitched sometimes when you were thinking really hard.
Mommy taught her about growing plants. Mommy helped her plant cucumbers that were flowered so pretty in the warm spring air. Mommy said most plants flower to show they’re mature, and laughed when Bengal asked her why humans don’t do that.
Now, Bengal toddled through their vast garden and tucked behind the vibrant leaves sprouting from a planter of potatoes. The scent of lavender wafted over and helped soothe her breathing. Maybe if I don’t answer, she’ll give me a few more minutes. She thought, laying back to look up at the clouds.
Her mind drifted back to the tall lady in the grocery store, how she’d frowned when looking at her mommy. “What does she have? Is she okay?” That had been enough to rattle Bengal from her daydreams and get her to stop twitching. Though Bengal was too young to understand exactly what was said, she gathered enough context to look down with bright red cheeks.
“What do you mean?”
“Oh…I’m sorry. She…well, I thought she was having seizures.” Peeking out behind her hair, Bengal could see the lady looked sad, but her face was a little different. It had the look Bengal frequently gave her mother when she knew she said something she wasn’t supposed to.
“She has an overactive imagination. It makes her twitch sometimes.” Mommy had smiled, but her voice sounded angry, like when she talked about Daddy.
Bengal had never met her dad. Mommy told her that he left but it wasn’t her fault…but it still kind of felt like her fault. Sometimes when she’d go outside, she’d pray to God that He would bring him back. Sometimes she prayed that He would keep him far far away from them.
“Tigerlily, there you are.” Mommy’s voice trickled in her ears and she was suddenly lifted in strong arms. Bengal watched her mother pick up a basket of carrots before readjusting her. “What am I going to do with you, my little tiger?”
Buy me more video games . Bengal giggled as she signed the words.
“You don’t feel like talking out loud to Mommy today?”
Bengal shook her head, feeling tired and worn out from the grocery store.
“That’s okay, honey. I know we just went to the grocery store a few hours ago, but I need you to come with me to the laundromat, okay? Your babysitter canceled.”
No Rosie? Bengal frowned. Rosie was the best! Rosie read to her. As many books as she wanted! And sometimes she’d play video games with her.
“No, sweetie. Rosie has the flu. Now, come on. Let’s go get some clothes washed.” Mommy winked at her before passing through the threshold from the backyard and into the house. When Bengal was set down, she ran over to her favorite pink shoes. “Good girl. It’s just a short walk. Let’s hurry so we get finished before dark.”
Mommy didn’t let Bengal go anywhere in Gotham alone during the day. But even her mom wouldn’t walk in Gotham at night. She said more bad people came out at night. More bad people who were not safe.
Bengal was scared of the dark, but she wasn’t scared of the night. Because night time was when The Batman came out to save everyone in trouble.
. . . . .
Mommy started shaking her leg in the chair and glancing out the window whenever the sun went down. She started squeezing her sleeves when the shadows spread over the streets.
Bengal wondered if she had to go potty, but she didn’t seem to be in a hurry. And whenever the laundry was done, her mom stopped moving quite as much. She pulled Bengal along with the fresh, clean clothes and out into the darkening city.
They made it to the crosswalk when Bengal saw someone with glowing lights on the street corner. She wasn’t paying attention. She didn’t mean to get separated from her mother, but suddenly she was alone in a big crowd where a bunch of cold eyes glanced at her and kept walking.
Her throat got tight as she started to sniffle. She knew she wasn’t supposed to, but she started moving and trying to find a police officer. What did Mommy tell me? I’m sposed to stay still but I don’t see her! Where am I supposed to go? Do I just walk home? I just want Mommy…
She started running. She needed to find a safe spot. There were so many people. Too many people. Bengal didn’t look at anybody. She found the nearest empty bench and hid beside it, starting to cry. Her body shook as she tried looking through teary eyes to find her mom. But everyone looked the same and she couldn’t find her mother’s face in the crowded darkness.
I’m never going to see my mommy again and then someone is going to hurt me or someone is going to hurt her and–
“Excuse me, sweetheart, are you lost?” A kind voice startled her and she retreated further into the side of the bench. “Hey, hey, hey, you’re okay, you’re okay. I’m not going to hurt you.”
People scared Bengal so much. She couldn’t find her voice as she looked up at the tall man. He seems nice though. He looks nice, too. He’s got a pretty blue tie.
“Hey, can you breathe with me, sweetie?” His voice softened as he bent down to Bengal’s level.
She nodded her head and followed his lead through some shuddering breaths. The world stopped spinning quite so much. Her shaky hands weren’t quite so shaky anymore.
“There you go, good job.” He encouraged, giving her the prettiest smile she’d ever seen. “Now, do you need help getting home?”
Again, she nodded.
“Okay. Where do you live?”
Bengal wiped her eyes and started signing. 99 Oakland Drive.
Oh. Are words hard for you? That’s okay. I know ASL too. He signed back, making Bengal gape up at him. Follow me. I’ll keep you safe. He extended his hand but Bengal merely held up her arms and looked at him with a plea. The stranger hoisted her up in his arms and began carrying her across the dark streets of Gotham.
The darker the city got, the more Bengal flinched and startled at every sound she heard. Finally, the crash of a trash can lid made her speak.
“I-I d-don’t like…th-the dark.” She whispered.
“The dark is scary for a lot of people.” The nice man said, patting her back. “It’s okay to be scared.”
“D-Do you think…Th-The Batman…gets scared?” She swallowed, her little body twitching when she heard an angry dog barking down an alley.
He chuckled.
“I think The Batman gets scared more than people think he does. For sure.”
“What…” This information was new for Bengal. If The Batman gets scared and still saves people…maybe I can do stuff even though I’m scared too. “What do you think he does…when he’s scared?”
“Hmm, that’s a good question.” He said, looking both ways before crossing another street. Bengal knew this area well enough to know her house was getting closer. They were almost there. “I think The Batman faces his fears so he can help others. Because he knows that it’s okay to be scared so long as he doesn’t let it get in the way of his life.”
Bengal opened her mouth to ask another question when she saw them. Red and blue lights outside Mommy’s house. And Mommy! She stood talking to two men in police clothes while the nice man held Bengal in the shadows.
“That’s her. That’s my mommy!” She exclaimed happily, before suddenly being put down.
“This is as far as I take you, okay? You go on ahead. I’ll watch you. But it might be a big fiasco if I take you over there. I’m glad to have met you, little one.” He started pushing her toward the lamplight.
“But…you helped me.” Bengal stepped back toward him, scared of making even that small trek in the darkness. “Why can’t you come with me?”
“You’ll understand when you’re older, if you remember this.” Another smile from him gave her courage. “But don’t forget to be brave, okay? You can do it. Now go on.”
Bengal took a few steps away from him, stopped, and then rushed back to crush the man’s legs in a tight, appreciative hug. She looked up at him and signed one phrase. Thank you.
Then she took off for her mother.
“Mommy! Mommy!” She barreled into her legs and breathed in her scent and finally finally everything felt like it would be okay.
“Oh, Bengal! This is her, officers. Oh, my darling!” Mommy was crying, and Mommy never cried. Bengal was sure she’d explode with as tight as Mommy squeezed her!
But she didn't mind.

the pros of having ga characters involved in mainline comics stories again is that we get to see them more. the con is that we can’t have them all in the actual ga run😭

If there's one thing I like more than time travel it's crossover reincarnation, so.
Botk link reincarnated as Damian Wayne.
An incredible weapon master of all types, but especially prodigious with a sword - he was beating knights at the age of 4 and with his memories as intact as they get for him I can see that goalpost moving even further (probably with traps and tricks, a 3yo doesn't exactly have great bodily control).
He's an excellent survivalist, agile, strong, durable, cunning and creative. He can move like a feather in the breeze, strike from behind with ease. His first kill, an animal, did not stir him as it did the other children. With his poise, grace, skills, obedience, he ought to be ra'as' finest assassin in the making, a jewel in the crown of the league.
Except he never speaks a word. Half his targets escape unscathed. He skates by true punishment on the merit of his skills and achievements in other missions. Testing has shown it is not a physical deformity that prevents his speech, but not even talia has been able to coaxe a word from him past his second birthday.
It is a defect ra'as is growing more and more frustrated by, as each attempt to fix these two final flaws ends in resounding failure. Less extreme solutions are running dry.
Talia fears those solutions. Her child does too, she knows. For them, there is a possible solution, more extreme than anything ra'as would tolerate.
She sends him out of the league. To his father.
To Gotham.
#'gee phoenix that sure sounds like that dp x dc you're normally rattling on about' yeah lol I steal tropes and sell them on the black market#Anyway this has been slowly rotisserie-ing in my head for a while I just like shaking canon like a magic 8 ball#I'd love to explore how link would react to Gotham and how he might see getting suddenly dumped in a found family as the youngest#And how that contrasts with both his expectations in the league and his role as the saviour last hope of a whole country#Because that kid cannot have a modern interpretation of killing. Like monsters? Kill with prejudice loot the corpses.#The yiga might have a little more hindsight understanding and he never killed them anyway but zero hesitation blowing them up#And ganon is so far removed from the concept of 'killing is bad' because a) human??? Monster??? B) literally the problem#C) he's been killing people so it'd even out d) everyone wants him dead So Bad e) been killed already like a dozen times what's one more#I get the feeling he'd assign the same role to the joker like 'widely considered the source of all evil. 'died' several times and came back#personal source of absolute misery for several heroes. Killed many' = slay the monster. Straightforward.#Like yes link always chooses kindness and has a strong morality and Opinion on killing people it's just a lot would be solved#By hitting the joker until he stopped making life miserable for everyone and if that means permanently well that's kind of link's job.#And like with Jason the bats understand that a lot better than they pretend to. But that is a 10yo who should not be thinking like that.#I think it'd be interesting to see how that'd change their reactions to 'Damian'. Like he holds a very similar opinion to og and Jason he#Just goes about it completely differently.#And I'd love to explore the differences between two fictional worlds and how they can go from pretty much the most black/white morality#To probably one of the greyest areas while still holding near identical themes and methods of dealing with that.#Found family compassion as a weapon against evil and copious amounts of weapons and cool gear lol#Also link should keep the arm he's earned it. Reincarnating with all his memories knocked a few other things loose I'd imagine#Mostly because all the loz games I've played have absolutely altered the way I view any link and also I love referencing them.#Damian with telekinesis and infinite glue would be great. A tiny 10yo sword master choosing instead to drop a dumpster on you#In between hurt comfort link beginning to bond with his family and begin to speak and learn sign language from cass#There's also the sound of explosives and a small figure clinging to a flying door as it crosses the Gotham night skies#Speaking of cass I bet her and link would be great friends in this au.#batman#batfam#bruce wayne#loz au#Loz#loz totk
