Feeling emotional about Nick and Maya tonight. Their relationship really is the backbone of the og trilogy. How the trilogy is largely about trust and the first major turning point is Phoenix trusting Maya and agreeing to defend her, and Maya putting her trust in Phoenix by letting him.

How Maya was willing to leap in front of a stun gun for Nick before she knew him a year. How Nick ran across a burning bridge because Maya needed him. How they constantly heckle each other but when the chips are down they have each other’s backs no questions asked. How they get into petty arguments all the time. How they both looked up to Mia and live in her shadow for different reasons but help each other become the best versions of themselves.

They’re ride or die and gossip with each other and there’s no one else they’d rather be stuck with.

Was tagged by @starfoozle to share some of the books on my to-read list for 2025 (thank you, friend, this is a fun one!)

First on my list of reading goals is actually to try to finish at least a couple of the in-progress books I carried with me into the new year, but for this challenge I picked ones I haven't actually started yet -- with the exception of Wonder and the Order of Nature, which I read a chapter of for a class years ago and loved (and which may or may not end up being the beginning of PhD dissertation reading in 2025).

This list is mostly non-fiction, as is my wont, though there are a couple fiction books in here for once -- both recommended by friends, so I'm slightly more optimistic I'll actually read and enjoy them. I hear tell the Rivers of London series even has a canon aromantic character, and that Mongrels is actually good werewolf fiction, so I may scratch a couple itches with my reading this year.

Since my last post, I have been thinking about the dynamic that Dadi should have with Data and Geordi’s families! And I have decided that a character who is a combination of Data and Geordi would be quite responsible by nature, so he would definitely accept everyone in their families as his own!

That brings us to the art. I interpret Data as being quite patient with Lore, while staying suspicious and keeping his wits about him, because he values having a brother at all. I think adding Geordi’s feelings to the mix would add tension to their relationship, and result in Dadi having much less patience for Lore than Data does. He would take more of a self-preservation approach to the relationship than Data would, and would therefore be even more estranged from Lore. Ultimately, he views Lore as his very, very flawed brother who needs to get his shit together before they can spend more than a few minutes in the same room together! Similar things can be said about his relationship with Dr. Soong.

*relatable would be defined here as a character who shares similar traits to yourself like: family, education, job, mental health, sexuality, disability, personality, general life circumstances, etc.

**projecting traits meaning that a character might not canonically share traits in common with you but you headcanon those traits onto them. for example, a character might only canonically date the opposite gender but you interpret/headcanon them as queer because you're queer.

i get that the categories are a bit restrictive because there are a lot of dimensions of 'relating' to a character but i couldn't think of a better way to divide it up so feel free to elaborate.

Were they just changing where he was contained in the Blacksite? Doubtful given he was still given free enough reign to work on equipment during that time- he probably could’ve just moved himself, maybe with guards

Was he going to another site entirely? It’s implied Urbanshade has multiple sites even if Hadal is one of the main ones-

Were they going to sell him off? I mean- Urbanshade has a history of putting anomalies up for auction, both the Limited Time Imaginary Friend document and the Abstract Art files mention them selling off anomalies they don’t have a use for that aren’t something worth Neutralizing (or the other way around, too useless to sell), we know there’s other companies out there who’d probably have Use for a giant mutant- likely things that wouldn’t be good for him either like some kind of military use/Rich Weirdo Collector type stuff also

Did he even know? He waited 10 years to enact his plan- was it just the first chance he got, or did something happen?

80 fckn hours and I basically pushed the main story all time.... that's a) a very rare thing for a game to have that much main content nowadays.....and b) *inhales* HOLY FUCKING SHIT I FINISHED A GAME GUYS!! AND IT WAS NOT THE ONE EVERYBODY IS PRAISING FOR WEEKS NOW, T'WAS THE PRECEDING ONE!!!

The more I see your work and the more I see of poorly drawn scum villain, the more I'm tempted to do a poorly drawn tgcf 🥺 (I've only just started listening to it and I absolutely love it!!)

I just don't think I'm as funny as both of you and don't know if I could commit to uploading as regularly as you both do.

But oh! I am SO very tempted!! 😭

Working on an adaption of an existing media as a long form project is honestly my strongest recommendation for getting your creative brain going! Of course, there is still planning and hard work that goes into it, but the biggest creative pressures are much lower (And when anxiety brain is quiet, art brain thrives!)

That said, projects like this are a huge commitment, and I'm a bit of a freak case when it comes to the grind. PD-Scumvillian and I both put a lot of work behind the scenes to make it seem as effortless as it is. I'm wholeheartedly giving you my support should you go through with it; feel free to reach out and ask for tips and tricks!

I love singNsong again reminding people in Side Story that Dokja wanted other people to read TWSA (he wrote reviews and comments! It was his first wish), and he only stopped bothering because people harassed him for it. He didn't gate-keep the story. When he's avoiding talking to Sangah about it at the beginning of ORV, it's because he knows what happens when he tells people about the story, not because he's gate-keeping it from her. He notes he's not proud of his hobby (likely because he's been bullied all through his life, including for reading the thing he loves): he finds it embarrassing to talk about, and better respects her studying Spanish in her free time (learning another language is a generally accepted thing in society). He assumes she won't care or will look at him funny (or worse) for when she learns about the novel he's into.

Basically anyone writing "let's gatekeep ORV" posts because of the anime announcement or because they dislike the manhwa or some other weirdness, y'all are the villains in the scenario.

The literal climax of the story is about sharing ORV with as many people as possible. What story were y'all reading?

so i just rewatched honey queen and in it, roman explains how linda is “the sweetest woman in hatchetfield” (the title that comes with winning the title of honey queen) because what she was willing to do in order to win (kill zoey, among other less than nice things) makes her taste the sweetest to nibbly.

now, in nerdy prudes must die, during the summoning, while blinky speaks to grace and tinky taunts pete, nibbly immediately looks to steph and says ��stephanie, yum yum!” steph is nothing like linda of course, she’s not callous or selfish. but. she was, in the end, willing to kill pete to save the rest of the town. she would have done it with a heavy heart, but she would have done it nonetheless. so, is the reason nibbly expresses interest in steph above the others that she is capable of things the others aren’t? like linda, she’s willing to go to extreme lengths to achieve her goal (even though her goal is much more selfless than linda’s).

grace is certainly capable of doing crazy shit too but her deal is a whole separate issue of its own
