The elves of middle earth having the same “call your dad when you don’t know how to fix a problem” instinct but because they live forever it’s like

Some elf starts experiencing the elven equivalent of car trouble (idk, horse won’t go?) and calls his dad, and then his dad can’t figure it out so he calls HIS dad and so on and so forth until you’ve got this guys entire lineage all huddled together in elven cargo shorts trying to solve a dented horseshoe

I’m not sure how to put this properly but, there’s something really weird to me how a bunch of people on this website both want to have public healthcare in the United States, but also are utterly contemptuous towards doctors and nurses.

Like, look, I DO think public healthcare is a GOOD thing. I like that we have it in Canada and I don’t think it should be privatized under any circumstances. But also it’s ABSOLUTELY out of its depth and backed up to HELL and back here. And a lot of that simply has to do with the fact we don’t have enough doctors and nurses. The schooling is expensive, the curriculum is long and the work is exhausting and can be dangerous. As time goes on and fewer people enter that workforce it compounds and makes fewer people WANT to go into it in a vicious cycle.

There are a lot of problems with the medical system, even in places with public healthcare, but it’s a necessity in any functioning society. So maybe stop acting like the cogs that let it run are scum?
