National Egg Day
National Egg Day on June 3 finds eggs finally breaking out of their shell.
Eggs had some tough years as health experts fretted about the high cholesterol content. But after a revision of the American Heart Association’s guidelines in 2000, the health benefits of eggs seemed to outweigh the concerns. The AHA says healthy adults can enjoy an egg per day and easily remain within the daily cholesterol limit.
Also, a single egg has only 75 calories, which is great for those looking to lose weight. And the seven grams of protein in an average egg almost makes this a superfood with a great calorie-to-protein ratio. So those of us who are big fans of poached, scrambled, over easy, hard-boiled, fried, sunny-side-up, or soft-boiled eggs can feel free to use National Egg Day to utter that timeless phrase, “How do you want your eggs?” And it doesn’t matter if it’s 7am, 7pm, or somewhere in between.
Eggs are great to eat anytime … or any day, for that matter.
National Egg Day timeline
Neolithic AgeWhich Came First?
Archaeological evidence for egg consumption dates back to this period.
1400 B.C.Earliest Records
Fowl lay eggs for human consumption as early as 1400 B.C., according to records from Egypt and China.
300 B.C.What an Idea!
Chicken farmers start incubating chicken eggs in warm clay ovens.
1920sPrimitive Methods
Eggs are still mostly farmed in backyards.
National Egg Day Activities
Try eating a non-chicken egg
Try a new recipe with eggs
Emphasize eggs in your day’s activities
Although Americans primarily eat chicken eggs, that’s not the case in all cultures. Pheasant, quail, goose, gull, and turkey eggs are all popular to eat around the world, offering a slightly different taste from chicken eggs. Consider trying duck eggs, which have more of an orange and blue tint to them. Do you need more food at breakfast? An emu egg is equal to about 12 chicken eggs, while an ostrich egg is equal to about 24 chicken eggs.
Don’t let National Egg Day slip away without cooking a new egg recipe. Consider trying an egg recipe from another culture, such as huevos Mexicana, oyakodon (from Japan), or the French "omelet au boudin de Nancy." (Every French recipe just naturally sounds great.)
Eggs aren’t just for eating on this day. Consider visiting the local zoo and see if you can learn more about birds and eggs in nature. Build a birdhouse with a transparent plastic back so you can see the eggs and the hatchlings as they develop. And because it’s June, consider playing Mythbusters at home and testing whether it’s hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk.
Why We Love National Egg Day
Arts & eggs
They can be prepared so many ways
They're good for the brain
Although most people crack the egg shell over the frying pan and don’t think any further about it, uncracked eggshells are great for crafts. Of course, at Easter time, many people paint and decorate hard-boiled eggs. But you can use eggs in arts and crafts at other times too. Hollowed out eggs of all sizes — from ostriches to robins — are used in home crafts and decorations. Just make sure you hollow out the egg first.
We feel pretty confident in saying that, no matter how much you love eating egg dishes, you haven’t tried every possible way to cook eggs. (And if you’re sure you have, you should apply to be the permanent CEO of National Egg Day.) Eggs can be cooked alone or placed in other dishes. Because nearly every culture incorporates eggs into its cuisine, the number of worldwide egg recipes is almost endless.
Nutritionists have not only found that the nutritional value of eggs outweighs their cholesterol level, but that eggs have a positive effect on brain development and on memory enhancement. The nutrient, choline, which is similar to the family of B- vitamins, plays a part in the process of developing signaling molecules in the brain. This means moms should hide the sugary breakfast cereal when it's test day at school for the kids; go with eggs instead!

"The homework will be collected tomorrow during homeroom, make sure to do it." The teacher reminded the students as she exited the classroom.
Everyone started to fix their things, chatter filled the room as you did the same.
Bakugo was quick to leave the classroom, you noticed him at the side of your eye and rushed to him, walking beside him.
"Hey, Bakugo! Where 'ya going?" You asked, putting your backpack on.
"None of your damn business." He replied if a gruffy voice.
"C'mon, tell me." You dragged out the 'e' and continued to walk with him.
"I'm going to eat ramen." Bakugo grumbled. fixing the strap of his bag on his shoulder.
"Oooh, can I come? I've always wanted to try a TanTan ramen." You asked while mentally drooling at the image of the ramen you saw cross your Instagram page last night.
Bakugo abruptly stopped walking, you walked a few steps in front of him before realizing that he stopped, you turned around to look at him and saw him staring at you like you were crazy.
"What?" You asked, tilting your head in confusion. "Did I say something wrong?"
"In your life, you've never tasted a TanTan ramen?" He asked as if he was offended.
"Yeah? I never even knew that it existed until last night." With that, Bakugo looked at you weirdly and resumed to walking with you following him. "Stop looking at me like I just did something so bizarre."
Tumblr media
Bakugo shook his head in disbelief and continued walking.
When the two of you reached the ramen ship, you skimmed through the menu for the particular ramen you wanted to try.
Once your eyes landed on the menu item, you noticed the 5 chili pepper drawings under it.
You gulped but decided to still try it.
You both reached the counter, Bakugo put his order in and you did the same.
"I'll get the TanTan ramen, but can I request to tone down the spice? Thank you." You heard Bakugo stifle a laugh as you glared at him.
The cashier lazily placed the order, not noticing as she pressed the wrong button.
You and Bakugo paid for the order and walked to sit down at one of the window tables.
"Tone down the spiciness? At that point, just order a normal ramen instead of a spicy one." Bakugo retorted, you scoffed in response.
"Hey, unlike you; I actually have tastebuds that I want to protect and not burn, thank you very much." You responded back.
A few minutes after, the waiter came with both your foods and placed them in front of you.
You pulled the bowl of TanTan ramen close to you and split the chopsticks into two. The aroma of the ramen were both mouth-watering and spicy, too spicy even, it almost made you not want to try it.
You took your first bite of the ramen, it took a millisecond for the taste to rest in your tastebuds until you finally tasted the incredibly spicy ramen.
A closed-mouth squeal left your mouth as you rushed to grab the cup and filled it with water.
Bakugo looked at you confusingly, the ramen couldn't be that spicy, right?
When you continued to down cups of water after cups of water, he eventually pulled your bowl towards him and tried it out himself. He took a sip of the soup and even he thought it was too spicy.
He looked at the cashier who was too busy to scroll through their phone, not even reacting to your squeal a few minutes ago.
He grabbed your bowl and stomped to the counter, firmly placing the bowl on the cpunter with a thud, making a few blobs of soup fall to the counter.
The cashier looked at Bakugo like he was crazy and cocked an eyebrow.
"She told you to lower the spice level, so why the fuck did you increase it." Bakugo asked angrily.
"She requested it to be extra spicy, it's what the monitor says." The cashier retorted back. "You must have hearing problems if you thought she asked for lower spice." They added with a taunting tone.
Bakugo scoffed.
"Do you want this to get poured on you?" He asked like it was the most normal question ever.
"What?"
"Do you want to get poured by a steaming hot ramen?" Bakugo asked firmly.
"The fuck? No--" The cashier didn't get to finish their protest when Bakugo pushed the bowl of ramen towards them, the bowl falling from the counter and onto the cashier's lap, unfortunately for them; they were wearing shorts.
The cashier let out a scream as Bakugo walked back to their table and grabbed his things along with your things and grasped your wrist pulling you out of the table.
"Don't fucking come back here anymore, you little pieces of shits!" You heard the cashier yell as you exited the ramen shop with Bakugo.
"W-wait, my tongue's still burning--" You tried to go back inside but Bakugo's grip on your wrist was firm, but not too firm to hurt you.
Bakugo reached for his bag and pulled out his water bottle, giving it to you. You immediately took it and opened the lid, drinking as fast as you could.
Bakugo was looking at you as you drank the water, noticing how red your cheeks looked and your teary eyes.
When you finished drinking the water, Bakugo pulled you to him by your face and wiped the tears off of your eyes with his thumbs.
All you could do there was stand and look at him, your heart skipping a beat.
Tumblr media
You didn't know that he felt his heart skip a beat as well when both your eyes connected with each other.

What's your dream ramen order? I'm feeling hungry now lol
My go-to is usually Kara-Miso Ramen with egg, nori, bamboo shoots, and chashu! My favourite restaurant serves it with a side-dish of rice and salmon! Unfortunately I was lazy and went to a place closer to my place so I ordered Spicy Tantan just now :')
Hope you get yourself a treat today <3

National Ramen Day
Nourishing bowls of savory comfort — a culinary delight unveiling layers of intricate flavors with every satisfying slurp.
A pile of thin and curly noodles surrounded by delicious and nutritious broth? Yes, please! Ramen noodles are one of the most famous dishes to come out of Japanese culture, and now they are embraced in all corners of the world. National Ramen Day succeeds in getting everyone’s taste buds excited for this robust and versatile food!
History of National Ramen Day
Ramen has a background that can be traced back to China in the 1800s. The dish seems to have originated when soupy broth was combined with noodles and some flavorings. This warming dish seems to have traveled with immigrants into Japan in the late 19th or early 20th century where it popped up in busy ports and then gained popularity throughout the entire country.
Of course, it didn’t originally come in those little packages with the powdered soup flavors. This is a modern version that has become popular mostly based on the convenience factor. But there are still certain restaurants that serve fresh dishes of ramen noodles that are nutritious and also delicious. These establishments typically serve house-made noodles with slow cooked broth and locally sourced ingredients that are tantalizing to the tongue.
National Ramen Day seems to have gotten its start in 2017 with the purpose of creating an excuse to eat ramen – not that one is really needed. So grab a friend or family member and get ready to enjoy this delicious day!
How to Celebrate National Ramen Day
All sorts of tummies, and also hearts, will be deeply happy when National Ramen Day is observed and enjoyed with the whole family. Have a delicious time with this day by celebrating in some of these ways:
Enjoy Eating Some Ramen
Obviously, it isn’t necessary to wait until National Ramen Day to cave into that deep craving for this bowl of noodly goodness. But, this special day does offer a delightful opportunity to show some appreciation for and raise awareness about this delicious, comforting food that so many people all around the world are in love with!
Get Creative with Ramen
Forget a boring bowl of ramen with standard flavors and no color. National Ramen Day is the time to get a bit creative and push the flavor limits of this dish to upgrade it to something amazing!
Check out some of these ideas for enjoying ramen to the fullest:
Pesto Ramen. Keep the same noodles but slather it with pesto made from olive oil, pine nuts and baby spinach. Then top with parmesan cheese and roasted red peppers.
Breakfast Ramen. In a hurry for breakfast? No problem! This ramen is supported by cheesy eggs, bacon, and a topping of sliced green onions.
Ramen Burgers. Ever thought that those ramen packets could be made into a crunchy fried hamburger bun? This is the time to try it!
Zoodle Ramen. Go traditional with the toppings, but exchange the noodles for a gluten-free healthy alternative by using zucchini noodles.

Trying New Food - I am a foodie and I will readily and willingly spend more money than usual to try something new. It's bad because 7-11s here have so many different bentos to try. Recently they started selling Tonkotsu and Tantan Ramen. Kimchi Fried Rice, etc. My wallet... orz
Plotting Out Stories - I love planning out stories. I love flipping things and going the opposite of popular routes. I love seeing how different scenarios will work out. It's fun to me. Granted, I haven't done this in a good while, but I should try picking it up again.
