building a routine
creating a routine can help you stay organized and make the most of your time. to help you design a routine that works for you, take a look at these steps:
identify your goals: think about what you want to achieve with your routine. this could be related to work, study, personal projects, or self-care.
prioritize tasks: list out the tasks you need to accomplish and prioritize them based on importance and deadlines.
set specific times: allocate specific times for each task. try to be realistic about how long each task will take.
include breaks: make sure to schedule regular breaks to rest and recharge. this can help you stay focused and avoid burnout.
be flexible: while it’s important to stick to your routine, allow some flexibility for unexpected events or changes in your schedule.
review and adjust: periodically review your routine to see what’s working and what isn’t. make adjustments as needed to improve your productivity and well-being.
start small: if you’re new to routines, start with a few key tasks and gradually build up as you get more comfortable.
stay consistent: consistency is key to forming habits. try to follow your routine every day, even on weekends.

Mastering the It Girl Life on Campus/ at school : Confidence, Class, and Style
On-Campus Essentials: Sophisticated and Ready to Conquer
Structured mini tote – Think sleek and polished. Choose something that says "I'm on my game" while fitting your essentials: a slim laptop, your chic planner, and a pair of sunnies.
Signature scent – A travel-sized luxury perfume, like Byredo or Le Labo. It leaves a lasting impression without overpowering.
Hydro flask in a neutral tone – Hydration, but make it aesthetic. Bonus points if it matches your outfit.
Protein bar or matcha to-go – Snacks are essential, but we’re keeping it elevated. Opt for a protein bar with clean ingredients or a homemade matcha latte in a reusable tumbler.
AirPods Max or sleek earbuds – Perfect for tuning out the noise between classes with a curated podcast or chill playlist, keeping your energy cool and collected.
In Class: Own the Room with Confidence and Intelligence
Effortless note-taking setup – Digital is where it’s at. Use a tablet with a stylus for sleek, organized notes that sync across all your devices. Bonus: it looks high-tech and minimalistic.
Command attention – Sit where you can engage, but it’s not about the front row anymore—it’s about being present and prepared. Contribute thoughtfully when needed, and stay poised.
All-in-one app for organization – Ditch the old-school planner. Use an app like Notion or Google Calendar to sync your schedule, assignments, and deadlines. Effortlessly keep everything streamlined and on point.
Refined confidence – Instead of always speaking up, choose your moments wisely. Command attention through well-thought-out points that showcase your intellect, not just participation.
Breaks Between Classes: Elevate Your Downtime
Mini face mist – A refreshing face mist with a subtle scent keeps your skin hydrated and glowing, giving you a post-class refresh. Think Tatcha or a rose water mist.
Quick mirror check – Always have a compact mirror to do a quick hair and lip check. It's about looking polished and put together without effort.
Reset with movement – Walk around campus to stay energized, but with intention. Pop in your favorite playlist, take in the surroundings, and use this time to clear your mind before the next task.
Digital declutter – Use breaks to clear out any unnecessary tabs, update your notes, or respond to quick emails. Keeping your digital life tidy is the new version of looking organized.

studying methods + tips⋆.ೃ࿔*:・✍🏽
LEITNER SYSTEM ; an effective way to study with flashcards
create flashcards
all ur flashcards should begin with box one or whatever box number (check the example)
for example ; in a box/pouch you'd label it ; box one cards to be reviewed everyday, box two cards to be reviewed every other day etc.
review each flashcard, quiz urself on what u recall/explain the info on each side
if u answered correctly move the card to box two and if u answered incorrectly, move the card to box one
the time frame should be dependent on the amount of time before ur quiz/test that u have to study.
HOT TIP ; treat studying like it's a job and you're getting paid for it. work agreed hours and take arranged breaks as though its a real job.
MORE WAYS TO STUDY ;
add color or diagram your notes and if ur not taking notes, TAKE NOTES
summarize your notes and summarize concepts (if u can explain a concept, thats how you'll know if u studied it enough)
make a concept map
pretend to be a teacher and ur explaining a concept
HOW TO MOTIVATE YOURSELF TO STUDY ;
i watch time-lapse studying videos to motivate myself to study bcuz then it feels like im studying with another person. or i'll set up my phone and film my own time-lapse of me studying to motivate myself.
implementing something that u love into studying. for me i love pink and just being a girly girl so i implement pink into my studying by using super cute stationary and that rly motivates me to use my pink tools.
i dont always study in the same locations, sometimes i'll study in a cafe or in the library instead of just studying in my room bcuz sometimes, all we need is a change of scenery.

❥﹒♡﹒☕﹒ 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲: easy tips to form healthy habits ( based on this alessya farrugia video )
lately i've been having trouble being productive and finding a healthy balance between study, passions, exercise and free time. i've been searching for a long time online for advices and ideas that could help me find my serenity, and my searches led me to this. i hope you appreciate it.
pro tip do not try to improve everything all at once, you're gonna fail. just try to incorporate something small in your routine to start forming healthy habits. it might take months, but one year from now it will all be worthy.
𝟭. don't hit snooze ( ⏰ )
the "snooze" button is definitely my worst enemy, i simply don't want to get up and start a new day that will be tiring and hard, but when i realized the reasons why putting off the alarm is so harmful for me i seriously started to stop doing it. you will actually wake up even more tired and sleep-deprived after the second or third alarm goes off, since falling back to sleep after having already woken up causes your brain to begin a new "sleep cycle" that takes 75 minutes to complete, abruptly interrupting these cycles brings unpleasant side effects such as tiredness, irritability and headaches.
bonus start waking up at the same time every day, this will not only help consolidate your routine but is scientifically proven that it significantly reduces levels of anxiety and depression.
𝟮. don't check your phone (📱)
i've always spent at least an hour scrolling through social media right after waking up every day, and it doesn't take a genius to figure out that it's not exactly the healthiest thing in the world. do not go on your phone for at least 30min/1h after waking up. i know it seems hard ( i have a severe phone addiction so i understand ) but i guarantee you that your days will be so much more stress free and productive. why? going on your phone as soon as you wake up gives you an instant hit of dopamine ( for more info, check this post ) that is gonna literally ruin your day, because your brain is gonna pretend more and more dopamine for the rest of the day in order to function properly.
𝟯. have a glass of water ( 🫗 )
you didn't drink for 8 hours or more so it's time to rehydrate your body. i hate drinking water as soon as i wake up so you can try adding some lemon juice to give it more taste, you can also try some herbal tea if it's winter and you don't feel like drinking cold water first thing in the morning, but avoid caffeine ( and theine ) for at least one hour after waking up. exactly like the hit of dopamine that your phone gives you, caffeine and similar stimulants will have the same effect on your body.
𝟰. have a cold shower ( 🚿 )
ok, i'm not one of those gurus who tells you to get up at 5 in the morning, take an ice bath and run 12 km before 7am, but switching to cold water for the last two minutes of your morning shower will have some benefits invaluable for you and your body. first of all it helps to wake you up, because it stimulates the nerve endings and makes the brain more active, it also helps to tone the skin and make the hair shinier. it's a difficult thing, but doing something like this in the morning will help your brain cope better with the workload during the day. it also reduces stress and anxiety, since the cold can activate the production of endorphins ( known as "happy hormones" ).
𝟱. physical and mental care ( 💕 )
take five or ten minutes to just look after yourself, do skincare - it doesn't have to be a deep session, just a little moisturizer and lip balm -, meditate, journal, cut out a few minutes from your morning routine where you leave out for a while all the negative thoughts, stress and anxiety, your body is your temple and you must treat it with reverence, your mind is your home, your safe place, and deserves your attention.
𝟲. get direct sunlight ( ☀️ )
apply some sunscreen and go get some sunlight, the benefits are so many that i couldn't list them all: i quote, production of vitamin D ( very important especially if you are a woman ), improved mood and, in general, physical and mental health, sleep regulation, improved skin. i know it's not always possible, especially in winter when there is very little sun, but for example if you have the chance to walk to school or work on a beautiful sunny spring day, take it!
𝟳. make the bed ( 🛏️ )
why should i make my bed if i'm going to have to sleep in it in the evening anyway? well, this is the mistake that i very often make and i admit that i am guilty of it. however, not making the bed is exactly the reason that pushes me to go back there immediately and sleep again. making your bed in the morning as an act of discipline will not only improve your self-esteem and make you less want to go back to sleep, but it will make your room seem cleaner and generally improve your environment, making you feel more productive and satisfied. completing that little task in the morning, even if it's small and simple, will give you motivation and will push you through the day.
𝟴. high-proteine breakfast ( 🥞 )
make sure you eat a balanced, protein-rich breakfast that will keep you feeling full until your next meal. it is useless to limit calories especially in the morning when we need an extra boost, this will only make us feel more tired and irritable and will significantly decrease our productivity.

{ 01.11.24 } · { 50 days of routine } · { day 3 }
goooood morning i woke up at 7 todayyyy 😪
finished global health module
pilates 🥵😪 (it's been a while, so it was more difficult than before but i made it! ...and then proceeded to take a break for nearly an hour...on my phone...this did not bode well for my focus the rest of the day and i continued to be tired [this time, without my back hurting, so at least theres's that but the rest of my body is starting to feel post-workout soreness... 😒])
finished immunology discussion reply
finished global health discussion reply
barely started global health assignment
finished immunology module from last week
finished 1.5/6 sections of microbio module
making my way through the cbt workbook in between getting distracted by my brain... 😑 (the way it's written, i can pretend i'm talking to someone whose ears i haven't already talked off about my feelings or situations that cause them and who won't immediately come to a judgment...so filling out the exercises feels a bit more therapeutic than regular journaling 😅)

༻`` 🦎 Tuesday — 6 Aug 24
_, Academic Weapon Challenge Day 5 ˎˊ-
|| Sleep: Got 7/just over 7 hours of sleep. Took me a good while to fall asleep.
|| Routine: Once again I was prepared to get up right after the alarm rang but I still managed to sleep in for an hour and only get out of bed at 10. I did do 5 pushups though and had a sip of water not long after.
|| Deep focus: I made a few more physics notes.
|| Body: 5 pushups in the morning and I walked one of my dogs for 33mins.
|| Mind: Watched an online essay and breakdown of 'When the Wind Blows' ☢️ on youtube (it's so tragic... I highly reccomend) and I started a colour study on a random page.
I normally wouldn't put these under the 'mind' section but I gave the videos and the drawing my attention rather than also scrolling on my phone (whuch I stopped a few mins into of the video) and these activities also just calmed me.
This is it so far, and the star is quite deformed 😵💫 but I think it's looking pretty good. I'm looking to do more studies like this to fill the rest of the page with. // 🍊

monthly reset
hi everyone! since it’s the end of the month, i thought i’d tell you what i do at the end of every month, to prepare for the new month :)
brain dump tasks for the month ahead
this includes any events I have, such as a party, someone's birthday, important deadlines or exam dates, as well as the revision I want to get done in the month.
organise my calendar
i use multiple calendars to keep myself organised. first, i use ical and a physical calendar for birthdays and parties/events. then I use google calendar to time block my week out, adding in when I'm at school, my morning routine, study sessions, workout sessions and my free time. to organise my revision, I have a separate monthly study planner from emmastudies.com that I fill out. i have this above my desk on my corkboard, which helps me to know what revision I have to do on any given day.
set goals
to do this i look at my yearly goals (which i have on my yearly notion page), and then i decide how my yearly goal can be broken down into an achievable yet challenging monthly goal. for example, one of my yearly goals this year is to learn german, so one of my recurring monthly goals is to do german on duolingo daily. as I'm doing my a levels this year, my german study isn't too intensive, but once I've sat my exams in the summer I'll increase how much I study german.
tidy my environment
to bring in the new month it's super important to have a clean and tidy environment. for me, this means clearing any clutter off my desk, vacuuming my bedroom, cleaning my windows, windowsill, mirror and makeup brushes. i also like to tidy my clothes shelves and make sure everything is folded nicely, as well as my underwear and socks in my drawers. don't forget to change your bedsheets as well!
self-care
my favourite thing to do is have an everything shower and do my skincare routine, so I can get into my nice fresh bed all clean :) I also love to go to bed a little bit earlier than I usually do, and read for a little while before going to sleep.

I want to challenge myself and do like a week or a month long challenge, but I fear sometimes life may be too unpredictable, which always throws me off. I want to set a routine, i want to accomplish things, and I've been feeling so much guilt for my lack of routines, my lack of productivity, and my lack of effort in the cultivation of my own life. Does anyone have any advice or something motivating for moments like these, where you want to achieve and work towards something yet you wonder if it's at all achievable? I'm in desperate need of some motivation, tips, advice on how to go about things. I feel so thrown off recently. I want to feel like myself again.

Read when you feel unmotivated or you are in a slump. I understand that life can be hard sometimes but you need to rise above the challenge. Remember to take care of yourself both physically and mentally. Your emotions are unreliable source of motivation. Talk to someone, your friends or family. So much love💗💗.

❥﹒♡﹒☕﹒ 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲: easy tips to form healthy habits ( based on this alessya farrugia video )
if you don't have a solid night routine, you may as well throw away your whole morning routine, because the decisions you make at night are gonna to directly affect you in the morning and how you go about your day. if you binge watch netflix 'til 1am calling it your "rest time" only for you to wake up in the morning feeling tired and frustrated, it's time for you to build a night routine and stick to it.
pro tip do not try to improve everything all at once, you're gonna fail. just try to incorporate something small in your routine to start forming healthy habits. it might take months, but one year from now it will all be worthy.
𝟭. prepare for the next day ( 📒 )
write down your to-do list for the next day. when i don't plan out my day i just end up doing nothing, because i don't even know where to start. but if you know what you have to do you don't end up procrastinating and start getting things done. also, do not overload yourself with too much things to do, you're just not going to accomplish them all, so keep it realistic.
bonus put the most important tasks on the top of your list so you're gonna accomplish them as soon as possible.
𝟮. clean you room ( 🫧 )
it really depends on when you are the most active – for example i'm a night owl and i can't even imagine cleaning my room in the morning – but yes, removing all the mess you made during the day will help you leaving it all behind and starting fresh new the next day. put your clothes away, remove books, notebooks, make-up products, trash all around and i guarantee you that you're gonna feel so much better.
𝟯. take care of your body ( 🌷 )
take a warm shower that can help you relax, do your skincare, change in your comfy clothes, basically wash away the stress and negativity of the day. last semester i would literally stay at uni for 10h straight and coming back home at 8pm after the gym, i used to take a warm shower straight after that so i could let all the negativity of the outside world slide off me.
𝟰. drink hot tea ( 🍵 )
avoid theine but treat yourself to a hot drink that helps you relax and restore your calm, also take your vitamins and give yourself those ten minutes in your personal space.
𝟱. self love and affirmations ( 💖 )
reflect on your day, write down in your diary all the things that happened, pray, meditate, do your affirmations, leave everything in the past, do not let today's disappointments, stress and frustration affect your tomorrow. the only way in which you can truly move forward is by facing the things that happened today to leave them in the past, tomorrow is a new day.
𝟲. get off your phone ( 📱 )
definitely the hardest part for me. i don't even want to explain why it's so dangerous for you to stay awake scrolling through your phone at night – blue light and whatever – so just be strong and try to get off your phone at least 1h before going to bed, use eye-protection mode after sunset and use blue glasses if you can.
bonus use only red light at night, blue light are gonna inhibit your melatonin production ( which is what makes you sleep at night ).
𝟳. go to bed on time ( 🛏️ )
do not delay your bed time in order to get more dopamine scrolling through social media or binge watching netflix. do not sacrifice your sleep in order to do more work/study ( i did it in the past and it's definitely not worthy ), prioritizing your sleep is going to reward you in the long run. trust and believe.
𝟴. 321 rule for better sleep ( 💤 )
3 hours before bed –> stop eating. it gives you enough time to digest your food so you're not going to waste energy during your sleep to digest and you're gonna wake up less tired.
2 hours before bed –> stop studying/working. you need to drag your brain out of your "fight or flight" mode in order to get deep rest at night.
1 hour before bed –> stop screen time. allow your body to produce the melatonin that it needs in order to fall asleep properly.
