My mom broke both arms this week from a very bad, dangerous fall. Firstly, I was disturbed by how much worse it could have played out. It's not an exaggeration to say she could have become paralyzed or worse. And it happened in a mundane way doing a household chore in the yard. But yes climbing up on something unsteady.
Secondly, I started wondering... what will I be doing if that happens to me (if not now, then let's say in 20 years when I'm her age). My parents' relationship is far from perfect (they're my first enemy ship I guess), but my dad is taking care of her right now in ways that make me cringe to even think about ever needing in my lifetime. And she has a son living close by who took her to the ER and sat with her through the ordeal of waiting for four hours in horrible pain and then her having her bones reset.
Idk. It just burst my flimsy illusion that "I... don't... need... anyone!" An accident like that could happen to anyone. But... I also just cannot face getting into the dating scene again on the off chance I find someone who will feed and shower me if I become disabled.
It was also the first time I looked up "meal delivery services" and it was basically for elderly people who can't take care of themselves anymore, and it was like a glimpse into my future, probably throwing money at the problem of caring for aging parents from afar, since I don't live close to them.

I wanted to read more at school today, but school was so rough today that I couldn't do it. To paraphrase some of the texts I wrote earlier today: In period 1, they asked me to bring in a charging cord for my phone so that I could transfer stuff on my phone onto the computer. We never got the cord to work, but the EA insisted we try to get my internet to work at school (since she felt it's important to have for times like these).
In a word: catastrophe. Now I can access internet at school, which means more distractions and problems. I want to get rid of the internet at school now, because I don't think it was helping me to do the stuff I needed to do in period one. And now it's distracting me from reading my book. So I'm just…so upset and stressed. I hate this so much. A complete and total disaster, that's how today feels. Especially since it was pouring rain when I first came into school today, and then it only got worse with the period one problems from there.
I didn't end up reading until 12:50 pm! 12:50! That's when the day's nearly all over! I 100% blame the stupid school internet connection for making my attention span get so horrible today. I also want to throw some blame at my anger and stress levels. Because I was pretty stressed by everything today (starting with the phone internet connection and the cord not connecting to the desktop). Just everything was working against me. And that's infuriating! Since I only ever read my physical books at school, all these distractions only served to irritate me and stress me out beyond all belief. And that messed with my attention span, leading to me not reading until 12:50! I hate this…

How to cope with stressor?
The four As gives us four choices for dealing with a stressor:
Avoid the stressor. We can try to avoid situations that stress us out.
Alter the stressor. Another option in dealing with stress is to try to alter it, if you can't avoid it.
Adapt to the stressor. If you are unable to avoid or change the stressor, getting comfortable with the stressor is a way to handle it.
Accept the stressor. Some stressors are unavoidable. We all have to go to work and manage our home life. So, learning to handle the things we cannot change by forgiving, developing tolerances, and letting going of those things we cannot control is also a way to deal with a stressor.

My stomach issues could be coming from my constant stress, I guess. But if so, I don't know how to fix that. I'm pretty much stressed once a day (if not way more). Minor things and major things alike make me feel super worked up and stressed. I'm only 19, but you'd probably never know just by my stress levels. I don't see this getting better with age, either. I definitely worry I'll end up giving myself a heart attack or something one day. That's said mostly in jest, but there is a bit of real fear there. But I think it's an understandable fear, at least.
