GIF of an all-white cat on a light blue background. The cat is a simple graphic, mostly a silhouette outline. A ( ^ω^ ) like pleasant smile is on the cat's face. It is softly twitching it's tail and swaying its head side to side in a cute little dance.

Learn to say “can you love me a bit harder today? It’s a rough day” and then explain how you want to be loved harder.
Learn to say “I could use some support. Are you able to provide some? This is how you can support me -“
Learn to say “I feel lonely. Are you able to keep me company?”
Learn to say “I’m feeling overwhelmed. Can I talk to you about it?”
Do this instead of dropping hints or expecting someone to be able to read you. What may be obvious to you isn’t necessarily obvious to someone else. You’re often hurting your own feelings by not communicating your needs and just hoping people meet them anyways.
I know this is easier said than done. We often drop hints because we feel ashamed or bad about asking for help. But the truth is, for most of our loved ones, us hinting at things is exhausting. It can also set them up for failure because they don’t know your expectations. Sometimes they miss hints but sometimes they ignore them because it’s more draining when they aren’t asked directly. It’s very likely your loved one would appreciate you being direct.
People often want to support and help you, but a lot of them like to be told how they can do that.

Something that’s awesome about tumblr compared to other sites is that we’re still passing around images and things that people posted on here upwards of 15 years ago like I saw this amazing photo on here earlier with only like a thousand notes and the timestamp on the post was like this time of year in 2010

Hey guys let me tell you about advance fee scams
I hope y'all are familiar with these in this day and age, especially my artists out there, because they're incredibly common.
About half an hour ago I posted a drawing and tagged it #artists on tumblr, and very quickly received this comment.
My scam radar went off immediately, due to the generic blog name and lack of any emotion in the comment, but I decided it might be an entertaining venture so I dmed them. They asked for a drawing "of these", and sent me a random selfie. I got the details and told them it would be $15, and they promptly offered me $300. At this point I know it's a scam, but I play along for funsies and give them my paypal. Shortly, they send me this image for "confirmation" (I blocked out my email)
And they began to insist that I checked my email. I looked in my spam folder and found the following email.
This is fake. This is not a thing. And the "you're to refund the $200.00 back" is the scam. They send vaguely official-looking emails at you to "prove" that they sent you the money, then have you send them $200 (or however much the scam is for). Then, surprise surprise, you're out $200.
I continued to play along for a bit, and in the second email "Paypal" told me that I had to refund the $200 before they could "credit the $300 to my account", along with these lovely threats.
And yeah, it's silly. But it's not silly if you don't know and get scammed. So. Spread, please! And thank you very much to @mlaurel for the opportunity to get these screenshots.

Screenshot of a thread on Bluesky from April 10, 2025.
Prem Thakker ツ (@premthakker.bsky.social) quote reblogs Kate Cagle (@KateCagle). Kate's post: BREAKING: LAUSD confirms plainclothes federal agents tried to question kids at two elementary schools in Los Angeles Monday but were denied entry by administrators. Superintendent Carvahlo said the agents claimed they had parent permission to question the kids, but it wasn't true.
Prem's addition: Plainclothes agents. Trying to question elementary-aged kids. And lying that htey had parents permission to do so.
Shaenon K. Garrity (@shaenon.bsky.social) replied with: Once again, elementary school staff are standing up to ICE while the wealthiest, most powerful universities in the country meekly hand students over to anyone who shows up in black balaclavas and an unmarked car

It ain't drag queens harassing children. If you actually care about the wellbeing of children, direct your "stay away from children" demands at ICE, not at drag queens.

i know this is old news but its not because the genocide of palestinians is old news and current news. today, april 2025, israel ordered the evacuation of the partially-functioning al ahli baptist hospital and bombed it, the same hospital that it bombed in october 2023 and killed nearly 500 people and then denied it, smeared everyone who would "dare to accuse israel of bombing a hospital," released false voice notes with fake actors pretending it was hamas operatives who accidentally bombed it so that news outlets could no longer report on israel bombing hospitals without having to add "hamas-run health ministry says..." to provide doubt on accounts of palestinian suffering, and then eventually just bombed every single hospital in gaza anyway
right now they're still bombing the hospital, but they did order the evacuation first. the thing about ordering a hospital to be evacuated before bombing it is that it proves you are destroying hospitals for the sake of destroying hospitals. the other thing about ordering a hospital to be evacuated is that it still kills all the critical patients and all the patients who need it anyway in an area where a hundred people are being killed daily. already a child has reportedly died while being evacuated.
that's kind of the point of targeting hospitals. its the point of targeting so many and so frequently that you can keep palestinians suspended in a state of genocide, while everyone else who reads about is suspended in a state of helplessness and confusion. they bombed a hospital? didn't they already bomb that hospital? was it really them who bombed it? i didn't know those people were still alive and those hospitals were still functioning. patients died wheeled out in a hospital bed while the ER was lit on fire? ah, didn't that already happen before?

Text from the short story Johnny Mnemonic by William Gibson.
It reads:
The Magnetic Dog Sisters were on the door that night, and I didn't relish trying to get out past them if things didn't work out. They were two meters tall and thin as greyhounds. One was black and the other white, but aside from that they were as nearly identical as cosmetic surgery could make them. They'd been lovers for years and were bad news in a tussle. I was never quite sure which one had originally been male.

Johnny Mnemonic was published in 1981.
Can't beleive the first characters described in classic cyberpunk fiction are lesbian (one trans) puppygirls with a sister kink

Back in 2004, in the comic Cable & Deadpool #2, there is a panel where a de-masked Deadpool describes himself as "Ryan Reynolds crossed with a Shar-pei". I can't recall if this was after/because Reynolds already stated he was a big fan, or if this joke is what brought Deadpool to Reynolds' attention. Either way, it was a fun nod when Reynolds ended up cast as Wade in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), and even cooler when us fans found out that he's one of us (which is why he fought so hard for the first Deadpool movie).
So, I feel Reynolds needs to also be on this list of "OK for the comics to draw the characters like the live-action actors".... *Bonus: both Deadpool and Reynolds are Canadian
yk what i hate?
when comic artists adjust their art so their characters look similar/ alike to their live action adaptations. like black widow looks like scarlett johansson in some versions. and superman looking like whichever actor is has been casted as him. and yeah i know its not in all comics of that character, but the fact that it happens so movie-lovers pick up the comics to read just gets on my nerves. i dont wanna be staring at robert pattinson during a batman comic or an ezra miller as the flash look-a-like (which i never agreed with that casting choice)
i understand why they do it (for more traction mostly) but i kinda just want my movies/ tv shows and comics separate? the only exception ill accept is if the comics were made in the same continuity/ universe as the video media (e.g. young justice created comics in the art style of yj kinda filling in part inbetween episodes which was cool).
honestly i think the only character id be fine with seeing the actor as the character in comics is iron-man. i personally havent read much marvel comics (or at all) but if ironman looks similar to rdj i would enjoy it, cause hes iconic. rdj and ironman introduced the world of marvel (and dc) to mass media and society.

i think the hill i'm going to die on here is that lasting anti-fascist activism begins and ends with unrestricted social services.
protests are great. kind of indispensable right now. but in times when we can be less reactive, you want to know what you're protesting *for*, not just against.
today i saw a post elseweb saying "why aren't white women fleeing maga? they have to know by now that tradwife means sex slave". and like... it's very simple. they can't leave because they would end up like me.
they're, we're, deliberately made unemployable so that we'll have to marry whatever mediocre white man picks us out. as it happened, i was unappealingly intersex, fat, butch, and autistic, so none of the mediocre white boys of my generation ever took a second look at me, but that didn't give me job skills or career connections.
i knew multiple women whose husbands divorced them and took the house as part of their midlife crises. they had to send the kids to live with relatives and take dead-end jobs like bagging groceries because they were in their forties with zero job experience. if they'd rejected the worldview, if they'd alienated their families and what few friends didn't victim-blame them for the divorces, they'd have had nowhere to turn.
it's been over twelve years since i got out. psychologically, medically, i'm healthier. but i've chased a fresh start through half a dozen states. i spent my inheritance getting a degree. none of it helped. there are no supports for abandoning (or being abandoned by) your support network.
you won't defeat fascism until my people are free to leave the cult if they realize they want out. until we can access free housing to get away from financial abuse, free comprehensive job training and placement services to help us start careers, national healthcare so we can flee across state lines if necessary without losing any medical care we're lucky enough to have access to, protections for children and teens so they can flee without needing a parent's help... universal basic income would be really good but there are smaller steps that could help with financial independence.
and it all has to be available to everybody, including people you think are "unworthy". people who hold the wrong opinions. drug addicts. people whose husbands or parents make too much money. people who aren't from around here. unrepentant bigots. if they want out, you have to give them a path out. minds can change later, once people are less scared and less pressured.
(i'm ex-catholic. do you want to hear about what happens when you force people to profess certain beliefs in order to access basic assistance? i have two thousand years of examples.)
"but if they really wanted out they'd do the Right Thing and leave without support!" Better to be one man's sex slave than turning tricks on the street. "staying just proves they're actually evil and there for the bigotry!" Live in your car for six months in 100°F heat, twice, and then talk to me again. There's no virtue in cutting yourself off from society just to prove some kind of moral point. All that does is get you dead or worse.
("JT, you're not dead" I'm a fucking cockroach. Most people would be dead by now. Survival bias goes both ways; we're not all the same model of airplane.)

If you're using gen AI because "you want to make art but don't know how/can't learn/it's easier/whatever"
You don't want to make art.
You want someone to make art for you, but you don't want to pay or exchange anything of equal value for it, and also you want it right now, in whatever style you fancy that moment, and in whatever quantity you want. You're greedy and entitled and it is just that simple. You don't want to make anything.

also to be perfectly clear, the point of Trans Women In Sports debates is not actually whether or not we have a competitive advantage or are instead pathetic harmless eunuchs, the point is to punish and publicly shame us for trying to live our lives.
