To her character arc???

Because people are taking this scene TOO literally and literally miss the symbolic meaning in the gesture and the connection that Vanessa forms with Mike here, and you only really get this information on a rewatch.

Which, I assume, people HAVE rewatched the film

Mike TOLD her why he takes the pills, and I think she was piecing it together and feeling sympathy for him. Like, that's when she offically decides to help him! It's important for her character arc!!!!!!!!! Cause then she was piecing together who Garret was!

SHE FIGURED OUT WHAT HER FATHER DID TO MIKE.

As she was nearly teary eyed when he was talking about HIS STORY.

Vanessa didn't want him sleeping on the job cus… "You're going to die so fast, wtf you doing man?"

She knew her Dad was out to kill Mike. The process was just halted because of the break-in.

This is when she decides she wants to help Mike.

Not stand up to her father... She feels too weak to do that. She "Wants to help in her own way" << HER LITERAL WORDS.

She wants to Aide in just keeping Mike alive and try her best to not pull the wool over his eyes as much. (she changes her mind on this a few times, but it's evident Afton has a grip on her she can't let go... She's dealing with her own form of Nostalgia poisoning her mind just like Mike is in a different way.)

And another thing if you do want to take the scene too seriously....

In real life, I had a landlord who took heavy narcotics that were prescription and didn't need them. You know what happened? He overdosed, His heart stopped beating and I had to call 911 on him a few times. This is a true story, as people who know me can back up this claim.

AND WHAT DID MIKE DO IN THE MOVIE???

LIKE IN NIGHT FIVE HE OVERDOSED BECAUSE HE HAD A RELAPSE.

Well, Gee, it's almost as if the pills are not supposed ta be the focal point but a device used ta further the plot and a metaphor for "escaping reality into nostalgia" or something to match the themes and tone of the overall film? I'm honestly sure if it was soo important to the movie I'm pretty sure the movie would have pointed it out.

Seeing people whine about the Crows being softened because their training methods don't get discussed is so funny to me because... well one I'm informed de Riva can straight up say their training was torture at one point (I don't know where it comes up exactly but I've been informed it is there) in conversation with Lucanis (y'know, another Crow and not an outsider), but aside from that... the Crows we meet are not going to talk about any issues they have with their superiors, first because Rook is either a complete outsider or the Fifth Talon's favourite and second because we mostly get the chance to talk to Crows during situations where they can actually talk and aren't in the middle of something significantly more urgent than talking to Rook in the Diamond where Teia and Viago are literally standing right there why would the Crows talk shit about their bosses when said bosses are very obviously within earshot. Like there are things to be said about how I doubt Teia and Viago are cruel to their trainees (Teia's too idealistic and Viago's too pragmatic, they're not going to go easy on the fledglings but they're not going to be excessively cruel, at least as far as Crow standards go; it's made very clear that the houses all do things differently, Houses de Riva and Cantori in 9:52 being different from House Arainai in 9:30 is not a retcon) but more importantly you are basically never in a position where any Crow who did have an issue with it (which Zevran acknowledges in DAO isn't all of them, remember; the Crows have never actually been set up as an organization where every member outside the highest ranks is a victim forced into it against their will and desperate to get out so no Lucanis talking about recruits who joined willingly and not telling the non-Crow he's talking to that sometimes they also buy recruits isn't a retcon either) would speak to you about it. It's not a retcon for Bioware to not have characters pause to bring up things they logically would not talk about with Rook! They're expecting you to pay attention to what's happening, not just what's being explicitly stated! A lot of it is in de Riva and Lucanis's dialogue (since unsurprisingly two friends who are both in the Crows are a lot more willing to discuss the downsides of the organization they both belong to in private conversation) and the rest is mostly in side stuff like that one quest where you can help a Crow run away with an ex-Venatori they've fallen in love with because their superiors will probably kill them for it. It is there, Bioware just didn't put the story on pause to go "did you know that the assassin's guild does bad things? May we remind you that the things you've known about for three games are still a thing?" like they were reading a story to toddlers. As far as I'm aware at least as far as the Crows go nothing has been actively contradicted, we're just seeing a different aspect of the organization.

Wow! What a nice happy family :3. I sure hope nothing happens to them! :3 I’ve always liked to arrange the series of events like first Selena and Simon met and got married, then the Dracula stuff went down, so uh yeah uh fan interpretation of their (currently) unnamed kids.

The text here says “where’s momma?”, said by his daughter (who by this point is 2-3 about). Shout out to the artist ability to make yourself really sad—

Anyway, the one on the left is the older daughter and the one on the right is the younger brother and as of Simon’s quest they are 10 and 7 respectively. The brother would’ve been born the year of CV1 if I have my math right, so when Simon was 22.

This one is based on an old insert character here kind of meme :D. The text says “step 1: establish character with a little worry but a lot of determination. The original meme only had two images, but each of these are supposed to be based on specific events so yeah. First one is just pre CV1, then the moment he got hit, then shortly after leaving the castle, then in the graveyard 6 years later, then somewhere in the middle of his quest.

This one is fun!!!!!! It’s an idea for like a double sided keychain :D!!!!! One side has the like CV1/CV4 era Simon swinging on one of those loops and the other is Simon’s Quest!!! And it’s supposed to be the Hanged Man tarot card!!! So cool!!! Idk how making keychains works so if I actually did this I’d probs just make one in shrink plastic tbh. But ough it would be so cool to actually make and sell little fan keychains and stuff (TwT ).

Like yeah obviously, it would be learning that he wasn’t meant to be the green ninja and he won’t be able to get that title, and that’s okay! But it’s very similar to what Kai’s potential was (which btw side note, after seeing other people share their interpretation and thoughts on Kai, I too like to believe that the true meaning behind his potential is “I am enough, and I won’t be seen as any less if I don’t become the green ninja”), and I really want to tie in to how he could’ve still had a good life if only he hadn’t been so hellbent on finding the realm crystal

So maybe it could be something like “I am imperfect, I am broken, I have been hurt by others and I too have hurt others, but longing for something that I cannot achieve will not fix me or anything else; I took for granted what I had, I left the one person who truly cared about me, I sought out what I thought would fill the cracks that have formed throughout the years, but it only broke me further. I cannot change my past, I cannot go back to what I had, nor can I go back to who I was. But I can try and build a better future for myself. Despite all the pain, anger, fear and loss, I can still rebuild myself, and perhaps someday, these old scars will fade, and I will feel a little more human. Despite it all, I can still heal.”
