... to be continued.
Just wanted to try out adapting song lyrics as a way to entertain myself, as equally as developing lyric composing skills! It is one of my first attempts, so I'll most likely make this a series where I keep on giving my own touch to these songs, while keeping the same beats per word, and trying to maintain a similar sound towards the end of every phrase so that it provides a similar sounding experience (as much as the Spanish adaptation allows me lol).
Cr: @/cafekitsune for the pretty dividers!!

Found this video on YouTube, the channel is no longer up.
I posted it up in archive.org which is still down. However I found out someone else had also posted this vid saying this this was an Ad aired on television during the 90s for the Goomer series.
I wish I could see all the episodes if they still exist.
For now I'm just spading this around in hopes to save this lost media.

me knowing logically that immersion will provide more long term gains for language learning vs 5 new vocab flashcards and some grammar exercises go brrrrrrrrr
#i'm trying to create a structured plan w timelines for learning biblical languages (gonna start with greek and go from there)#idk i've just always learned languages in a very traditional way and i always default to it instead of trusting the immersion process#i just downloaded 2 apps on my phone so i could compare their biblical/koine greek courses before catching myself cus i said i wouldn't#ah yes apps only an infamously amazing way to learn languages to a high level#ig i have resistance to adapting popular immersion methods to dead languages and the thought of doing all that adjusting is making me want#to reach for The Apps like an ipad baby#“all listening to low level videos and no reading until x level” my brother in christ this is the new testament#i forgor that other immersion methods that are not dreaming spanish exist so i'm gonna research refold to see how that translates to dead#languages and will report back ig#the siren call of the language learning apps though!!#right back to research#edit: also these immersion methods focus on speaking as the end goal which i obvs won't be doing.........so yeah idk#ellis exclaims#langblr

Btw, I don't have a Twitter account.
I say this just in case, because if you find a LynaFerns on Twitter that's not me. That's a totally different person who I coincidentally share a username with.
I found out when I made the gmail account and the name was already taken so I had to add a couple of letters lol.
#lyna rambles#funny enough this lyna from Twitter is also Spanish and her username is a bit of a wordplay of her real name#meanwhile I'm here just adapting the meaning of my real name to another language

Achievement unlocked; Listening to the original version of "Laura non c'è"
It's so... weird (and more passionate) hahaha!
#personal like personal#the spanish version is basically a classic in my country#and some bits weren't properly adapted#guess that's why it sounded so... ominous#the more you know

Tintin radio drama: where to listen?
There have been several radio adaptations of Tintin's adventures throughout the years. Of those, seven are still freely available online:
French
Les aventures de Tintin (1959-1963) – two versions available: an abridged version on YouTube and a full version on the INA website*
Les aventures de Tintin (2015- ) – available on the Radio France website
* The INA website requires a subscription to access the episodes, but the first month is free
English
The Adventures of Tintin (1992-1993) – available on the Internet Archive
German
Tim und Struppi (1984-1987) – available on the Play-Europa website
Danish
Tintins oplevelser (1972-1983) – available on Spotify
Swedish
Tintin (1970s-1980s) – available on YouTube
Spanish
Las aventuras de Tintín (2023) – available on the RNE website
Here is a list of the adventures that were adapted in each version:
#not a fan of linking to spotify but i couldn't find the danish one anywhere else#anyways hope this is interesting to someone#(i also have a copy of the ina version if anyone is interested and cant get the subscription)#I haven't listened to all of them but if anyone ever wants to talk about them im happy to!!#tintin#the adventures of tintin#radio play#radio drama#tintin adaptations#english#french#spanish#swedish#danish#german

Hello, do you happen to know if there was ever an English translation of the 1952 Marie Blank Eisman Sissi books that the Romy Schneider film trilogy was apparently based on? I’ve come across Spanish translations of the book and it’s still readily available in German, but I can’t seem to find an English translation of the books and I’m curious as to how much the books differ from the movies.
Hello anon! As far as I'm aware there's aren't any English translation of those books. For those who don't know, Ernst Marischka and his brother Hubert wrote an operetta about Elisabeth called Sissy in 1932, which was a great success in Vienna; he then sold the operetta's rights to Hollywood studio Columbia Pictures and they adapted it as The King Steps Out, which came out in 1936. When Marischka himself tried to make a film adaptation in the 50s, he couldn't buy the rights of his operetta back, so he instead adapted the novel Sissi. Der Schicksalsweg einer Kaiserin by Marie Blank Eismann. Novel which I haven't read, so I can't tell either how much differs from the movie either :(
But I'd love to know where did you saw a Spanish translation of it? I've never come across any!
#the only sissi books in spanish that i know of are adaptations of marischka's films - not translations of marie blank einsmann's novel#i own six of those but i still haven't read them because buying books and actually reading them are two entirely different hobbies#asks#Sissi. Der Schicksalsweg einer Kaiserin

Andy: Let's pick the easiest one. The power bill.
Tiffany * handles him the bill*
Andy * reads the numbers in horror*
Andy* to Glen, with a surgeon asking for stuff tone*: Antacid
Glen * gives him water and the pill*
Andy * takes the pill, then proceeds*: Mortgage.
Tiffany * shows him the bill*
Andy * checks the number, horror escalating in his expression* : Antacid!
Glen * rushes to handle him another pill *
Andy: thanks, dear * takes the pill *
Andy * hesitantly*: Now let's see the worst, bills from Tiffany's purchases.
Tiffany * shows the bill*
Andy * in horrified disbelief*: Glen, give me the gun

I don’t get why people feel like the Duolingo owl is threatening, if I ever feel like he is I just get mad at him. I could fight an owl. I don’t know if I’d win, but I don’t think I’d lose (two things that can apparently coexist). I think I’d survive at least and that’s not really winning but also not losing.
You wanna be so threatening? Da bør du drepe meg!
#emma posts#I used google translate for help because they haven’t taught me the phrase ‘kill me’ yet#taught me the word for beer øle but not the more important words like ‘kill’#as far as I can tell everything else in that sentence checks out so I figured the translation was good enough#not sure if it’s in the right order or if you use better that way in Norwegian. but good enough for a tumblr flop post#Emma’s adventures in using Duolingo#I should honestly use that as a tag for it#I post enough venting about that app#until I find out if I’m dyslexic for sure and there’s a way to help that with other languages. I’m not going to pay for Babbel yet#Babbel has Icelandic lessons too I think and that is my final boss tbh#I’ve been going from easiest for English speakers to hardest as my plan#and it turns out that I forgot how much some of my issues affect learning new languages#last time I learned another language it was Spanish and I’m not fluent but I’ve had classes and been around it for so long#that i kinda forgot what it’s like to start from scratch#I didn’t start trying to learn Norwegian until I was 26#or was it my 27th birthday? I could check my streak#I was like ‘psh. it will be harder with my disabilities. but I should be able to read. my top priority with this language’#and then I realized I had been somehow adapting to the other two languages since childhood and forgot how much I had to work around#I mean. I knew I was worse at language arts in school than I was in literature and writing. but still#I also already knew I was worse at making new sentences in other languages than I was figuring out ones that someone else made#but I thought that was just because I hadn’t used Spanish much for several years now#every time I try to re-learn Spanish it just ends up with me being able to figure out what someone said to me but not how to answer#if i brushed up on it again i could probably have a conversation with someone who understood English but better spoke Spanish#someone with the same problem as me but reversed language wise#please don’t take this as me saying I could currently have an entire conversation with someone speaking Spanish#I’m better than someone who never learned it and didn’t encounter it’s use a lot. but I really don’t think I could have a real conversation#not at the moment at least#I have been meaning to brush up on Spanish again too. there are at least real classes in my area for it and not just an app#the last time there were Norwegian classes around here my dad was in college and old people still spoke it#no one around here speaks it anymore
