i genuinely don’t understand the mentality of constantly (and publicly) complaining about bad fic. like, whenever i start to read a fic i personally don’t like, i simply click away from it and never think about it again. but i swear, some people like to go on and on and on about how much they dislike fic under a particular tag and it just… bothers me how quick some people are to hate on a group of writers who are pouring their time and effort into creating content for *free.*

no shade at all to my fellow radfems and you guys can believe whatever about if chappell roan is actually a lesbian or not but I can’t really understand the amount of people willing to mindlessly shit on her…like yeah maybe she’s male centred. maybe she’s actually bisexual and not really lesbian. but I can never bring myself to say such hateful things about a woman who hasn’t really done anything truly awful because I know the normalized misogyny and patriarchal double standards that actually fuel those words. famous woman are already treated so awfully, if you hate chappell and disagree with her male centred attitude, just choose to ignore her - at least for the sake of discouraging misogynistic hate campaigns that all young famous women receive.

Real talk though?...There's other things hindering me continuing the story too. Aside from irl things, i've had a lot of time to think about my focus and direction with drawing my interests lately since the holidays. I've been at it with these pokemon/mewtwo comics, this whole blog, for almost 5 years now...straight. I haven't focused on much else art-wise really, accept for a few non related pokemon doodles sprinkled in here and there...and as much as I'm hesitant coming to terms with it and hate to say it...I guess constantly drawing the same thing for a couple of years has finally caught up to me. So there's currently an ADHD mind barrier preventing me from picking up my pen and finishing the next comic.

I have other interests and fandoms I'd like to draw for and had thoughts of making another blog about one of them. That's a small part of why my mind is a bit unfocused as of late. I feel divided, my motivation specifically feels divided. I'd like to pursue drawing other things but I've been suppressing the urge to until this current baby arc is done. Maybe that's my mistake. Perhaps I won't feel satisfied unless I doodle some of my other interests first before returning my current story...but that also means prolonging the arc further when I've been so close to the end of it for what feels like ages now! It's a frustrating feeling.

Look. I have always enjoyed charismatic psycho characters, and Leland ticks all of my boxes. Additionally, he’s played by Michael Emerson, who is one of my favorite actors and has been since I first realized he was the leader of the Others in LOST (Ben Linus is, to this day, one of my top fave fictional characters of all time).

I know that in real life, I’d wanna stay away from him. But within the confines of the show, he is easily my favorite character. He’s just so FUN! The way he antagonizes everyone he meets because he enjoys riling them up and fucking with their heads? My kinda guy! Does he deserve a horrible horrible death for what he’s done? Absolutely. But do I want him dead? Hell no! I’m obsessed with him!! I want more of his malicious rizz!

SPOILERS FOR EVIL’S ENDING IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED!!!

I genuinely would have loved to see how David’s drop of goodness would’ve affected him in more episodes. We got that little glimpse of him crying over the dog videos in the last season. And we saw David making some darker choices, too. I loved the idea of them doing a bit of a switch where Leland goes from chaotic evil to neutral and occasionally helps the team with stuff (and the Bouchard girls are constantly nagging him about doing “the right thing”). It’d be fun to watch that, especially if David started making more and more questionable choices.

I would 100% sneak into that monastery and break him out of that box if I could. 🤷‍♀️

Maybe I’m just also a little unhinged. Kirsten is amazing, she can do no wrong, and Ben the Magnificent would’ve been my fave if Leland didn’t exist, but Leland DOES exist and he holds my beating heart in the palm of his hands and is probably gonna take a bite of it.

Yeah it's just. I can see why someone else would like the show. When it originally came out, even I liked it for an episode or two. But it just becomes clear so quickly that they didn't actually care about the journeys of the book characters or even the book characters themselves, they just wanted to take the same major events from the books and slap basically new characters into them.

If you liked the book you would NOT cope with the theatre des vampire arc oh my GOD it was painful. So painful.

Also, you can answer this privately if you'd like, but I really love how you hold your ground with your ideas. I've seen plenty of creators kinda change their mind on ideas because a few people were offended or just didn't like the concept and it bums me out because while yes sometimes you should listen to critism, other times it's not actually criticism but just people being dumb.

You know honestly, I'm convinced I'm a 40-50 year old stuck in in a 24 year old body XD I'm such a hardass. I just don't have the patience or mental strength to deal with people who are like that, especially the younger generations. Even some people who are are my age or slightly older.

When something like cancel culture exists, you know you're not going to please everyone with what you do or what opinions/ideas you have. There will always be people who hate them regardless of what it is or what it's about. Whether it be fandoms, storytelling, art/character preferences, dare I say political views, etc. It goes on and on. But just because they don't like something, it doesn't mean I have to change things to appease them. And that's what a lot of those types of people can't stand. If I don't agree with them or abide by what they command me to do, suddenly I'm the asshole? XD God forbid they hold any accountability for themselves in their decision-making. They can just... not view my content. Scroll over, block whatever, but no, apparently, that's just too hard, and it's easier to bitch about and/or blame the creator. Like honestly my thoughts are I don't give a fuck how offended someone is or if they don't agree with my personal choices on a matter. It's my blog, I run it how I want to, I create what I want to create and I tell a story how I want to tell it.

I'm not going to cater to every individual who thinks they're holier-than-thou and entitled to say I need to change this or that just to fit their views or so it appears less offensive to them. Damn right I hold my ground! It is not my obligation to appease people by having my art/story/characters dictated by their every whim and what they think it should be. If they feel so strongly about what I do, they can easily write or draw their own stuff and make it more ideal for themselves, but if they claim, "B-but, I'm not good at doing that." Well, that ain't my fault, nor is it my damn problem. Don't come to my blog acting like you can manipulate me to draw or write things you want to happen or how you want things to be. You ain't my boss, you're not paying me to do your bidding, so until you somehow become my boss and actually obtain authority over what I do, leave me to write my characters and stories/make my art in peace!
