Episode 6 left me nothing but confused??? They doubled down on the no-multiverse thing, especially with the joke about the hallway with Wim and the additional drama build up with Cir’s family. But if you go down this path, bnw, i won’t forgive you because if everything else is normal WHY IS JIN PSYCHIC?????

Previously on Supernatural…
You, Cas, and Dean had found yourselves in the middle of an endless forest that had a gloomy overcast to it. It was a place that you didn’t recognize, but the feeling that overtook your body wasn’t a good one – it felt negative, depressing, fearful. You and Dean were lying on the ground on your backs only a few feet away from each other, while Cas was standing in front of both of you looking around at your current surroundings. His facial expressions wouldn’t normally worry you, but in this moment they did as his face was a mixture of pure concern and fear. You looked at Dean, the two of you sharing a similar expression of slight confusion, but with a hint of worry.
When you were lying on the ground, you didn’t realize how much your body had actually ached until you started to get up. You felt so battered and bruised, like you had just been through a tornado. Being the first one to get up from the ground you offered Dean your hand to help him up, which he graciously accepted. “Thanks Sweetheart,” he said, taking your hand and offering a slight smile.
“Any ideas where we could be guys?” You asked, the two of you started looking around.
“I have no clue.” Dean responded. “Cas? Any ideas?” You and Dean looked at Cas, waiting for some kind of answer before you two looked at each other. “Cas?” Dean repeated. He was quiet, more quiet than normal – which was not a good sign.
Cas finally turned and looked at the both of you, a kind of knowing expression on his face. “You two don’t know?” The way Cas spoke was if it should be obvious to where the three of you should be.
“No Cas, that’s why we’re asking.” You said. “Should we?”
“The last thing I remember, the three of us ganked Dick, and then we ended up here in some dark forest place.” Dean looked around again, trying to see if there would be anything that would remotely make this place recognizable to him or you; but there was seemingly nothing. It was just forest, dark forest.
“And where would he go after death?” Cas asked, already knowing the answer.
Cas’ response started to make things click into place for you. You grabbed Dean’s arm, your response made him look at you, the concern returning to his face. “Purgatory.” You mumbled.
“Purgatory?” Dean asked looking at you. He turned to Cas now, your hand still on his arm. “As in Purgatory, Purgatory?” His mind was trying to process this new information, trying to figure out how it was possible that the three of us could even end up here.
“Every soul here is a monster.” Cas began. The sounds of rustling came from the trees that were surrounding the three of you. “This is where they come to prey upon each other for all eternity.”
“Okay. But…How do we get out? We’re not…monsters Cas. We shouldn’t, we shouldn’t even be here.” You felt your heart slightly start to race, as panic started to set in. “I mean, there has to be a way out right? Those dicks got Eve out.”
“But that was with a very specific spell.” Cas responded, his face looking sorrowful. “I’m afraid that we’re most likely going to be ripped to shreds before we find a way out of here. Well, if there actually is a way out of here.”
The sounds of multiple growls came from the surrounding forest where there was once the rustling sound. You turned to look behind you, seeing two sets of red glowing eyes. “Dean…Cas…” The two of them turned in the direction you were looking, Dean’s and yours eyes slowly growing wide.
“Cas, I think we better –” Dean started to say, as the two of you turned back in the direction of Cas. When the two of you turned, he was no longer there. “Cas?”
Tumblr media
Now – Purgatory
“Did he just…leave us?” You asked Dean, almost asking in disbelief.
“I, I think he did.” Dean responded, sounding in disbelief himself. “But uh…” The sounds of growling started to grow louder and louder. “We should move.”
You nodded. “Good idea.” And then the two of you started to run.
Tumblr media
You and Dean ran as fast and as far as you could, neither of you stopping for what seemed like miles. The sounds of claws chasing after you, with the faint sound of growling and snarling close behind. When the two of you had finally stopped, you were out of breath, and felt like you were on the urge of collapsing. Neither you or Dean were out of shape by any means, but this was probably one of the first times either of you had to run a long distance like that before. “You…o….kay….” You said between breaths, your hands on your thighs, trying to catch your breath.
“I’m…fucking…awesome…” Dean responded, his breath sounding nearly as heavy as yours. “Fuck.” His hands went straight for his own thighs too, his chest had felt like it was on fire, much like yours was currently feeling.
When you turned around, you could see the two creatures that were coming after you with the red glowing eyes. “Oh…come…the…fuck on.” You looked at Dean, the taste of blood had entered your mouth, the same taste that you would get when you had just run a long distance.
“They back? Fuck, they’re quick.” Dean slightly yelled. “Come on.”
Tumblr media
The two of you went to running again, not running nearly as fast as you had been, but close. The fire sensation had started to become stronger the longer you ran, and there was a part of you that no longer wanted to run anymore. You had felt like your legs were on fire, burning. Although your legs and chest were feeling like they were on fire and no longer capable of running, your brain was one of the only parts of your body that kept telling you to high tail it out of there if you didn’t want to die.
“Hey, looks like there’s a cave up ahead.” You yelled, pointing to an opening that was about 100 yards away. “Think that might be safe?” You turned to Dean as the two of you started to slow up just a bit, not wanting to pass the cave in front of you. You could tell that his body was starting to feel similarly to yours, his breathing – just like yours, had started to get heavier and heavier.
“Worth a shot.” He yelled back.
Tumblr media
Now – Not Purgatory
“Did you guys stop it? Did you kill Dick?” Your mother asked Sam from the other end of the line. “How’s Y/N? I tried calling her but I couldn’t get a hold of her.” It wasn’t unlike you to not answer your mother when she called. She was used to not hearing you for days, sometimes weeks at a time while you, Sam, and Dean were on a case. But even when you couldn’t call her back, you would always send her some kind of text saying that you were fine and would call her as soon as you could.
“Yeah. Dean, Cas, and Y/N they…they killed Dick. Everything should be over now.” Sam replied. He held his phone on his hands, his leg slightly shaking as he was sitting down in the impala that had been a little damaged from when Meg hit the sign.
“Is Y/N okay? Dean, Cas?” Your mother was a little worried, more worried than usual. She was used to being worried, she always worried about you even before you started hunting with Sam and Dean; she was your mother after all. When you had become a hunter, the worry she had for you grew, but it started to lessen – not by much, but it did once you had decided to start hunting with Sam and Dean. Although she knew that you were a very capable hunter and had hunted for years before meeting up with the boys, she felt a little relieved once you had decided to team up with them, knowing that you would at least have some kind of backup now.
“I don’t…I don’t know.” Sam hated to say it, but it was true, he wasn’t completely sure if you, Cas or his brother were okay. From what Crowley said, it seemed like the three of you were in Purgatory, but he wasn’t completely sure. For all he knew, Crowley was lying, and the three of you could be dead.
“What do you mean you don’t know?” Your mom was angry now, and she could feel her heart sinking in her chest. “I trusted you boys with my fucking daughter and you’re telling me you don’t even know if she’s okay?”
“Mrs. Y/L/N –” Sam began to say, but his words were overshadowed by your mothers anger filled words.
“Samuel Winchester, you better do something to find my fucking daughter or I swear I’m going to come find you and drag you by your ears until you find her.” Your mother took a deep breath. “Capiche?”
“Capiche.” Sam replied, before your mother hung up the phone.
Tumblr media
A Few Hours Later – Purgatory
Although you and Dean had been sitting in the cave for a while, you two were still having a slightly hard time catching your breath. Even though the two of you were used to running long distances, as running came with the job; running for that long and for that distance was something that neither of you were used to. You looked over at Dean, his chest going up and down rapidly like yours. “At least we don’t have any guests in here with us.” You said, gently grabbing his hand.
He squeezed your hand and nodded. “Don’t know for how long though.” His voice still sounded breathy like yours, but seemed like he was starting to catch his breath and calm down just a bit like you had been starting to. “Looks like nothing was ever here. Well,” he picked up what looked like a femur bone, “at least not for a long time anyway.” He threw the bone onto the other end of the cave before looking at you again. “Everything’s gonna be fine.” He tried reassuring you, but even he wasn’t sure he believed it. You wanted to believe him, you really did, but you knew that deep down that the two of you were fucked.
“We’re fucked Dean. You can say it.” You were blunt, your comment almost sounding cynical in nature. “I don’t think there’s a way out of here.” You hated to be like this; because it wasn’t normally like you to be this negative. Yes, there were times when you were the negative one of the group, but most of the time, you were always the one that tried to find a positive to every situation.
Dean seemed taken aback a bit by your comment, not used to you being this negative, but he understood where it was coming from; there was a part of him that knew deep down that the two of you were fucked. The only reason he was trying to make light of the situation or at least try and find some kind of positive was to try and make you feel better: because that was his job; to make you feel better, to feel safe. It was something that he had promised your parents when you had first joined him and Sam.
Tumblr media
“She’ll be safe with us, with me. I promise.” Dean told your mother. Your mother looked over at you as you were placing your duffel bag in the trunk of Baby. You were standing next to Sam, and the two of you were laughing, smiling.
“I know she doesn’t want me or her father to know much about this life, about what she or you guys do in order to protect us but…that doesn’t mean I don’t constantly worry about her. I’m her mother, that’s my job.” Your mother looked at Dean, placing a hand on his upper arm. “Please keep her safe.”
“I promise to keep her safe, even if that’s the last thing I ever do.” Dean said, meaning every single word.
Tumblr media
When he had made that promise to your mom to keep you safe, it wasn’t just a promise to her, or your father, it was also a promise to you and him. He didn’t realize it at the time, because the feelings that he had for you were very platonic, but eventually over the course of hunting together, being in close quarters with you 24/7, you eventually became someone very special to him; someone that he couldn’t stand the thought of losing, someone he couldn’t stand the thought of no longer being in his life, someone that he would end up falling in love with slowly until one day it just punched him in the face.
“Alright. We’re fucked.” Dean said, almost sounding like he was giving up.
“See? That wasn’t so hard to say.” You smirked, but not an amused one. This situation that you were in was far from amusing in the slightest. “You know what’s weird?”
“What’s that Sweetheart?” He asked.
“I’m not even remotely sleepy.” You leaned your head on Dean’s shoulder, who responded by pulling you close to him, one of his arms wrapped around your shoulders.
“You know, I’m not tired either.” He responded, kissing the top of your head before resting his head on top of yours gently.
“Want to know something crazy?” You let out a small chuckle.
“Always.”
“I want to know how sex would work in Purgatory. Like, I think voyeurism would most definitely be a concern. But, it’s also got me thinking about fear kinks too.” You had no idea why your mind had come up with these scenarios or situations, because sex was something – at this point in time – pretty far on the backburner. Yes, you loved having sex with Dean, and the two of you loved being intimate together, but having sex in Purgatory was something that you knew probably was not going to happen.
Dean looked at you, raising a brow. “Huh.” Was Dean’s only response. Before you had brought it up, it was something that he actually didn’t think about, which was surprising for him; because whenever there was even a few minutes alone together, you, him, or both of you would initiate some kind of intimate interaction, since it was hard for you two to do things with Sam being in the room. Well, it wasn’t like you hadn’t, you have when he went to sleep, but it was something that neither of you necessarily had wanted to do because the two of you loved the sounds you made; Dean especially loved the sounds you made specifically. “Voyeurism and fear kinks? Sounds like a party to me.” He half joked.
Tumblr media
Your Parents House
“I’m worried about Y/N.” Your mother said, pacing back and forth in the living room in front of your father who was sitting on the couch.
“I know. But there’s really nothing we can do.” Your father replied. “We’re not hunters.”
Your mom looked at your father, her face was no longer filled with worry, but something more serious. “Just because we aren’t hunters doesn’t mean we can’t just sit here and do nothing.”
“What did Sam say on the phone?” Your dad asked, getting up from his spot on the couch.
“He really didn’t say anything. He just said that Dick Roman was dead and he wasn’t sure if Y/N, Dean, or Cas were okay.” She wished Sam had given her more information then what he had given her. She understood why he couldn’t – partially because he didn’t know anything, and partially because he had made a promise to Y/N that he wouldn’t give her parents any kind of information that would incriminate them; meaning, making them targets for supernatural beings that could use them to get to her, and the boys.
Your dad thought for a moment, trying to remember any kind of information that you may have told him or may have overheard when you would talk to your mother, but everything was coming up blank for him. “I wish she shared more.” Before you had went into the life, you had always been a sharer, sometimes to the point where you actually overshared to people that you didn’t even know. But once you joined the life, you had started to become more closed off, because your trust in people had started to dwindle. The more time you spent in this life, the more you had lost. You felt like there was no point in sharing intimate details with people that were just going to end up dead a few months after you met them.
Tumblr media
Purgatory
You wished you knew what time it was, but there was no way of telling here. No matter what, the sky above you was a never changing gloomy overcast. That was one of the things that you had missed, and you never really realized it until you and Dean had gotten here: you had missed the way the sky changed. You missed the mixture of the purple, orange, and pink hues whenever the sun was setting or rising. You missed the way the clouds would move throughout during the course of the day. You missed being able to look up at the sky and see millions upon millions of stars at night. Even though you missed all of these changes, changes that you took for granted during your time on Earth, two things that you seemed to miss most of all was the sun and the moon. You missed the warmth of the sun radiating on your skin, and you missed the look of the moonlight when it hit the water at night. It was simple things you missed.
“I never realized how much I’d miss the warmth of the sun.” You sighed, as you started to whittle one of the ends of a very large stick you and Dean had found directly outside of the cave. The two of you ventured out just a few feet outside of the cave because Dean had spotted two very large sticks that could possibly be used as some sort of weapon as a means of protecting yourselves – at least for now; because besides that, you had two switchblades and two hunting knives between the two of you, and you both knew that it wasn’t going to be enough, despite both of your Jet Li level fighting skills.
Dean looked up at you, doing some whittling himself and nodded; some pieces of wood flinging from his stick and knife. “I miss pie.” You smiled. “Bacon cheeseburgers, my Baby.” He blew on the end before looking at you again. “At least I got one of my babies with me.” He smirked.
“I hope you’re talking about me and not the hunting knife in your hand.” You teased, blowing on the end that you had just whittled. Dean simply just winked at your comment. His wink caused you to roll your eyes jokingly.
“So, between us we have two switchblades, two hunting knives, and two very pointy sticks.” Dean stood up, placing his switchblade into one of his pockets along with his hunting knife. “Awesome.”
“I know it’s not ideal, but at least we have something.” You stood up, the large stick in your hand as you looked at Dean. “The hardest part is –”
“Besides running for your lives?” Dean interrupted.
“Besides that – what we have can’t kill every monster that we may come up against.” Even though the two of you had hunting knives, switchblades, two very pointy sticks, and the two of you were able to fight, you knew that not everything here was going to be easily killable or be able to be killed with the items in your possession. “I’m sorry, I just…” You trailed off, really unsure of what you were going to say.
“Hey.” Dean placed a hand on your shoulder. “We got this alright? If not, we go down swiggin’. On our terms.” For the first time since being here, you actually had a strange sense of ease.
“I love you.” You gently smiled, and he smiled back.
“I love you too Sweetheart.” He cupped your face and leaned down, pressing his lips against yours. You were the one that deepened the kiss, not realizing it at first as you found yourself wrapping your arms around his neck. For a split second, both of you had forgotten where you were, as he pulled you close to him, wrapping his arms around your waist. A sudden snapping of a twig was heard between the two of you. Breaking the kiss, but still having your arms wrapped around each other you looked at the entrance of the cave.
“Dean…” You removed your arms from his neck, him doing the same with your waist. You went into your jacket and pulled out your hunting knife. Out of your peripheral you saw Dean doing the same, both of you entering a fighting stance. As the two of you looked at the entrance not moving a muscle, a low growl was heard between you two which started to get louder and louder with each passing second. “Looks like we have company.” You whispered. A pair of red eyes suddenly appeared.
“You ready?” He whispered.
“Ready.” You responded back.

Will’s fear of clowns
*Ps -not mine. this is a submission from an anon. tw: for s.a. It’s an interesting submission. ANON-please make a tumblr account already . I’m begging you XD
Hi! It’s me, Lonnie Meth Anon. Back with more depressing thoughts about Lonnie!
I just read your post on Jonathan’s ab*se at the hands of Lonnie, and I second it all. It breaks my heart. But it also got me thinking deeper about Will’s fear of clowns. I think you’re right that part of the horror for Will is that the clown attacks in bed. The bed is, obviously, like you say, a common site for s*xual assault. (Doesn’t El’s picture of “three legged Brenner” also have a bed in it? In a picture with not much else?) The fact that Will needed Joyce to sleep with him for a week suggests he was specifically feeling unsafe in bed, or at night.
But maybe it’s not just the location of the attack in Poltergeist that Will found so harrowing. Maybe it’s the combination of that location with the fact of a clown being the attacker.
I think Lonnie might have dressed up as a clown for Will’s birthday one year, and something happened.
In this instance, I don’t think Joyce would know what happened. I think the incident in her mind would be something like “Lonnie dressed up and Will was scared of the costume”. She might even have thought it was cute. Just a typical little kid fear of something mundane. When she teases him about Poltergeist, she doesn’t actually say the movie was the START of his fear of clowns. Just that he was afraid of that particular clown. The general fear of clowns could have been an older one, going back to when Will was even younger.
Maybe Will even liked clowns, before whatever happened with Lonnie turned them into a source of fear for him. Will has a lion plushie (lions are commonly found in the circus) and the circus seems like the kind of vibrant, colorful environment full of outcast, that a young gay kid would really enjoy. If Will did like circuses and Lonnie poisoned that for him, that’s just another reason to hate Lonnie. But it definitely seems possible.
Lonnie is a deadbeat dad in general, but we’ve seen before that he’s capable of faking the “family man” act in front of Joyce and their neighbors. We’ve also seen that even though he treats Will horribly, he would also try and keep Will on his side with father son bonding activities, like baseball. And Will’s birthday is one of the few occasions Lonnie makes a half-assed kind of effort, even when there’s nothing directly in it for him. He sends that card, even though it’s late. Maybe Joyce made called him up and made him send it, but she always seemed happy to keep Lonnie out of the picture. She didn’t even want to involve him when Will went missing. And we know Jonathan would never try and facilitate more interactions between Lonnie and Will. So it seems like Lonnie did this of his own accord, when he realized he’d missed the day. Kind of weird. And it’s classic abuser behavior, to make contact on an anniversary date, reminding you they exist and you can’t escape them. Reminding you to keep quiet. Or hoping you’ll miss them, remember the “good times” when they made an effort, and let them back into your life. (Ugh.)
So, anyway, back to my theory. Young Will likes circuses, and the Byers family are poor, so they can’t afford to take him to one, or throw him a party at an ice cream parlor or a bowling alley, like other kids. It makes sense that they would have a party at home instead, and that the family themselves might dress up. We know Joyce made Will’s Ghostbusters costume in season two, and a clown is a pretty easy costume. Most of it is just make up. It’s possible the whole thing was Joyce’s idea, and she made the costume, and Lonnie just went along with it to look like a good dad in her eyes.
Remember how we see Bob (Will’s new father figure) dressing up in costume for Halloween? Joyce loves it. This is a thing good dads do, to have fun with their kids. That’s also the same episode we see Will scared by a guy in a clown costume, and Jonathan is hyper-protective of him that night. School is okay, but he doesn’t want him trick or treating. (Like he knows that school is a safe environment, but in other contexts, costumes and parties might be a trigger for Will.) Jonathan is convinced to leave Will and “let him have fun” and what happens? The clown attacks. Later that night Jonathan goes to a costume party himself, where he finds Nancy upset and takes her safely home.  Maybe this is how Will’s birthday party ended - with Jonathan finding Will upset, and trying to comfort him. The whole night could be playing out like a parallel to that birthday party, from Jonathan’s perspective.
What actually happened with Will and Lonnie is up for debate. It’s possible there was a s*xual assault, and that’s why the clown scene in Poltergeist was such a trigger for Will. Or maybe Lonnie thought circuses weren’t “manly” enough for his son to like, and actively tried to scare Will, so he wouldn’t like them anymore. It’s hard to know. Something would have happened though, and probably something pretty formative, because the fear of clowns lasts a long time.
Something else interesting is that when Mr Clarke is talking about the Upside Down in season one, he uses the metaphor of the flea and the acrobat. Acrobats are a main act in the circus, and, well … fleas. Flea circuses. That’s a thing. Maybe it’s a hint that the trauma that created the Upside Down was circus / clown - related?
Kali, El, and their gang wear clown masks too, when they’re going to confront their childhood trauma, and the child-like Alexei is surrounded by clowns when he is killed at the fair.
Clowns are just so associated with birthday parties and little kids, that it doesn’t seem like a coincidence to me they’re Will’s biggest fear. Especially as the show keeps dropping hints about Lonnie and Will’s birthday. It feels like there’s more to the story. I have a horrible feeling SOMETHING happened.
RESPONE (kaypeace):
I think it’s very possible-that maybe he did dress as a clown for Will’s birthday and something happened. We have alexi (paralleled to Will) playing carnival games with kids. Then he's attacked by the Lonnie-look alike : and alexi looks at his wound then stares at all the clowns laughing around him. Joyce and Murray find Alexi bleeding/dy*ng next to a clown statue. As joyce looks in horror and Murray says to her, he was “only gone for a second” (which sounds like something you’d say in relation to a kid you were supposed to watch-running off ). We also had sarah at age 7 die while wearing a gown with clowns on it (Will: it was a 7 the demogorgan it got me). Death of innocence symbolism? Hopper also describes his depression as a cave- he goes through the carnival ride where it mentions a "cave of horrors", which had decor of a tiger and a clown painting. So yeah... whatever happened probably isn't good. So- there may be some symbolism there in relation to Will’s past. Not only because (like I and you have mentioned before) Lonnie is highly associated with birthdays. And canonically we know he mentally scarred jonathan on his b-day. But also, s4’s ‘victor creel’ may be an easteregg to the xmen character victor creed- who had a tradition of tra*matizing family members specifically on their bdays
As another alternative:I could also totally see Lonnie “ruining” circuses for Will because it’s not “manly” to him. Like how Jonathan liked thumper the rabbit-from the film bambi. in the film, Thumper is bambi’s bff, and the hunters are the bad guys who k*ll Bambi’s mother and terrorize all the wildlife. SO yeah- making Jonathan become a hunter, and k*ll a rabbit ,despite this fact, is really messed up. And shows Lonnie has already tried to ‘ruin’ things the boys like. By mentally scarring them in one way or another…
I also mentioned how Will’s bday could even be a trigger for jonathan in a diff post.
if the s4 bts calender hinting it’ll be near Will’s bday and easter it could be relevant to Jonathan.we know in s1 el has tra*matic flashbacks when seeing certain things- coke, closet, cat, etc. And Will in s2 has his ‘anniversary effect’ where memories flood back based on the time of year. But like … Easter has bunnies - could seeing rabbits jog stuff up for Jonathan? El seeing a cat made her have a flashback of brenner trying to make her kill a cat. Would Jonathan seeing like Easter bunny decor jog up a flashback of lonnie making him kill a rabbit? (It happened on his bday too). So Will’s b day being around easter would only fuel that memory. (heck even popped balloons may trigger gunshot symbolism idk). And then for Will there is clowns that could be a tr*gger at a party.
The flea and the acrobat analogy (in relation to Will and circuses is very interesting) and could be foreshadowing- it’s even a title for an episode so I feel like it’s narratively an important hint to …something. similar to a s1 ep being called “the bathtub”.  Also, Will was compared to a circus flea- which were placed in an enclosed space, where heat was applied as they jumped  and tried to escape the increasing temperatures as they burned .Which could relate to my theory about Will having a se*zure due his body overheating due to Lonnie injecting him with m*th.
If Will’s bday is in s4- I feel like Lonnie will come back in some capacity (flashback or literally). The ‘sorry, I forgot you b day’ card from Lonnie in s2, in Lonnie’s shed Joyce mentioning Will’s b day, the rainbow ‘happy birthday cup’ placed next to Will at Mike’s -while Will explains the supernatural, Lonnie already tra*matizing Jonathan on his bday, etc…

April 2021 Picks
Tumblr media
And we’re back with the end to another month. April! Wow! Lots more great picks to talk about this time. Lots of new ones to the list too. So, let’s dive in!
Spoiler territory ahead!
Tumblr media
THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER
or should I say Captain America and the Winter Soldier
I just finished the finale last night, so it felt right to start off with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. I really enjoyed it and I feel the episodes got stronger as the series went on. Each one felt like a mini-movie and I was upset it was over and had to wait another week for another one. I think the finale was my favorite. Especially the reveal of Sam as Captain America. I love his suit, his speech and the montage of everyone watching him. The last part of the episode was definitely my favorite and one I can watch on repeat. I loved seeing happy Bucky and him goofing off with the kids in Louisiana. He deserves so much happiness as he has now accepted he’s no longer who he once was. Bucky and Sam’s relationship is fantastic and I can’t wait to see it more. I know there’s a possibility of a second season and they have to be in a future MCU movie. Regarding the villain, I feel I was confused for most of the show as to what their objective was. I’m curious if this is because they had to reshoot parts during the pandemic. I also am mad with Sharon. Like what happened with her? She is definitely the true villain of the show. I also don’t love that we haven’t seen the end of Walker (but Wyatt Russell did a fantastic job). I also loved Torres and I hope he becomes the next Falcon. Definitely so different vibes from Wandavision, but just as good!
Tumblr media
THE IRREGULARS
This is a show that more people need to be talking about! It was SO GOOD! I feel like I heard some buzz about it when it first came out, but not much after. It follows the teens featured about who live on the streets during Victorian London. The leader of their group, Bea gets approached by Dr. John Watson (that’s right...as in Sherlock and Watson) to take on a case that has more supernatural qualities. The story takes off from there. I think the group dynamic was fantastic. There wasn’t a character I didn’t like and each one brought something else important to the group (which they even bring up towards the end of the show). [I’ve watched a few cast interviews since finishing the finale and they seem like they get along really well in real life too.] There is a kind of love triangle, but it didn’t bother me and was over fast. I did like both combinations though. Lots of twists and turns along the journey. I have no idea if there will be another season, but there should be. It didn’t end on a major cliffhanger, but definitely ended in a way where it could continue nicely. Come on Netflix.
Tumblr media
HBO’S THE NEVERS
From one show set in Victorian times to the next. The Nevers just premiered on HBO and HBO Max earlier this month. It follows an ensemble of characters, similar to other HBO shows, ranging from characters who are called “the touched” to men in government who are against them. Being “touched” means they have a special talent or power, which can range from healing to speaking other languages, being extremely tall, or being an expectational inventor (I seriously love Penance. I just don’t know how to explain her ability). Amalia True and Penance Adair are two of the main characters and they help bring in others who are touched to a remodeled orphanage that is a safe haven for people like them. Of course there are those who are against them existing. This seems to be at least two groups as someone is abducting and experimenting on some of the touched, but we don’t know who they are...yet. I love the fusion of a historical setting with a fantasy element. I am very excited to see where the show is headed. I also love seeing so many of my favorite British actors on the screen together.
Tumblr media
ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND
Time for a throw back. Fans of ABC’s Once Upon a Time might remember the short lived spin off following Alice in Wonderland (and some of Aladdin). It only lasted for one season of 13 episodes, but I remember loving it and I am so happy I can rewatch it on Disney Plus. It reminds me of why I enjoyed OUAT so much and I think this show deserved another season or more crossover with the original show. (Luckily the Knave got that opportunity.) I think it should have aired as a summer show or when OUAT was on hiatus, this way more fans would have tuned in. It is something I’ll believe forever.
Anyway, I’ll stop ranting now... I love Alice. I think she’s a badass and a fierce warrior. If you follow some of my posts on my other blog, Lydia-yougowith-Stiles, you’ll know that I love a warrior romance and Cyrus and Alice fit that perfectly (even if they are apart for much of the series). I also love Alice’s hair and outfits. Everything about her is cool. Her relationship with the Knave is one of my favorite friendships ever. I think they balance each other out so well and how they spend most of the journey together. Back in the day, I totally shipped them, but now I definitely don’t. (Even though I don’t love Anastasia.) This is definitely worth the watch if you’ve ever heard of Once Upon a Time or not. There is very cheesy CGI especially for 2013, but once you get pass that you’ll love it.
Tumblr media
ZOEY’S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST
It was on a longer break than I expected, and I didn’t miss it as much as I thought I would (which I know doesn’t sound good for a show), but I am still loving all the episodes this season. It feels like there are more musical numbers, which I love. Mandy Moore is killing it with the choreography. There are so many amazing moments. I also was a big fan of the newest glitch episode. Everyone is so talented and I also like that we’ve started to hear from more like Jenna and Tobin. Leif has become one of my favorites. I don’t love the new neighbor next door, but I think we’re done with his storyline. I’m not loving the Zoey love triangle, but I do like her with either Simon or Max. She seems really happy with Simon now. (FYI: I haven’t watched the most recent episode yet. The glitch one was my latest.) Can’t wait for more!
Tumblr media
KUNG FU
CW’s newest show this month was Kung Fu, which I just learned was a reboot. It follows Nicky who returns after 3 years to her home in San Francisco. Her family has mixed feelings as she has had no contact with them for the last 3 years. She is now a Kung Fu master and warrior, out to avenge her mentor’s death and stop a villain from acquiring mythical weapons. The show gives me Arrow vibes every time I watch it. It has similar flashbacks each episode to an earlier time in Nicky’s life. While Nicky’s mission is different, the style just gives me early seasons of Arrow vibes, which I am not complaining about. It stars Legacies’ Alyssa Chen, who I didn’t love on Legacies, but instantly fell in love with Nicky. I think she’s a bad ass character and love how she’s fighting for the underdogs on the streets of San Fran, while also taking down a bigger evil. The love triangle is heating up and I’m definitely team Henry (even though there’s some mystery there). I think he’s great and once again we have an awesome warrior romance. They balance each other so well and it’s only been like 3 episodes. Now they’ve also been sleuthing together and it’s just amazing.
Tumblr media
NANCY DREW
Are you sick of hearing me talk about CW’s Nancy Drew? I hope not because I’m going to fangirl again. I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH! I can’t wait till Wednesday comes and I tune in a little after it starts, so then I can fast forward on my DVR. Then when the episode is over I basically start it all over again and watch select scenes that were awesome. (More specifically, they tend to be Nancy and Ace scenes because I love them and we’re entering so much angst I don’t know if my heart will be able to handle it!!!)
I’ll say it a thousand times: THIS CAST IS EVERYTHING! Their dynamic is amazing. You can have any match ups and it’ll be a great time. There is not one person I don’t like. I was so upset that there wasn’t a new episode last week (especially because it was my birthday). I loved the last one with the Hardy Boys and that Nace reveal! OMG! I’m so sad that Grant has left again because we barely had him, but I feel he’ll eventually come back. He has to. I loved the ending when he spoke to Thom by signing to him. (My heart!) I seriously can’t say enough great things about this show. It is not your typical CW show and deserves more love and views. So happy a third season has already been confirmed!!
LAST NOTES
Just started Shadow and Bone on Netflix and am loving it! I’m sure I’ll have an entire post dedicated to it when I’m done. (Currently going to start episode 6.) I have no background on the universe or the books (just what my sister is filling me in with as we watch). I definitely plan on reading Six of Crows after this!
Tumblr media
So what are you enjoying? Let me know. I’m always looking for more shows to add to the list! Can never have enough.

2020 fic recs!! [Part 2]
part 2 of my 2020 fic recs!! as before, ive limited this to five fics per month; and fics are ordered by the month they were published. This spans fandoms and ships, and hopefully you find something you like!! credit for the idea goes to @iam93percentstardust
***
July
this is the start: @capnwinghead
Clark and Bruce continue raising the Wayne children and encounter a number of challenges along the way.
great minds (love alike): @starklysteve
Steve’s eyes flicks down to Tony’s knees on the floor.
“Are you – are you proposing to me with my ring for you?” Steve asks incredulously, eyes wide and confused.
---
Or, Steve finds Tony’s ring for him, Tony finds Steve’s ring for him. Panic happens.
Marvels Unsolved: @iam93percentstardust
Marvels Unsolved was never supposed to be this popular. It started off as a novelty web-series about Tony trying to convince Bucky about the existence of the supernatural—he firmly believed that if science could turn Uncle Steve from an actual shrimp to the god of muscles, then magic had to be out there—and then they’d started talking about an unsolved crime from the early 20th century after filming an episode one day, forgetting that the camera was still rolling, and had ended up with enough footage to make a second episode about real crimes. They had stayed pretty unknown throughout that first season but then true crime podcasts had exploded in popularity and Unsolved along with them.
it’s a small world after all: @maguna-stxrk
“Great speech.”
Smiling at the compliment, Tony turns around. “Thank y—”
And nearly drops his champagne flute.
His world comes to a stop.
They had only spent a night together, but Tony would recognize those baby blues anywhere.
It’s Steve.
Steve from Tony’s London business trip. Or, as Rhodey has become accustomed to calling him—The Soulmate That Got Away.
you’re in my blood, you’re in my veins: @nethandrake
Tony always figured that if they ever were to break up, it would be like a blaze. Scorching and hot and all-too blinding. Intense like the two of them have always been.
Instead, they break up on a Tuesday, with the rain pelting the windowpane and the midnight silence stifling.
August
Five Times Danny said he’d marry Steve (plus one): @five-wow
Danny humphs. “Look, all I’m saying is, I think I’d probably have married you by now.”
“I’d marry you, too,” Steve says.
Or: An experiment in how many times you can say something before you have to put your money where your mouth is.
Family (You’ve Always Had It): @/SunnyQueen
A black Camaro and a scowling blond was not what Junior had been expecting.
“Hi, sir. You didn’t have to pick me up.”
The blond looked up from the screen on his phone and groaned, completely ignoring Junior's statement. “You are right, I didn't have to."
Ode To Yoga Pants: @riotfalling
OR the continued terrible mating dance of Bucky and Tony, AKA when betting on your friends stops being fun
Through The Years: @hawkbucks
Tony brings home Natasha one day, proclaiming her to be his new sister.
Natasha takes this all in stride.
The broken road that led me home to you: @just-fandomthings
A documented list of conversations between Steve and Danny via text and phone call following the events of 10x22 "Aloha." (Where, even thousands of miles apart, Steve and Danny can't go without talking to each other.)
September
someday, we’ll pass it on to you: @starklysteve
Steve smiles.
Reaching up, he flattens his hand against his son’s far smaller one, curling gently around it. “You wanna be like him?”
“Da!” Peter agrees again.
One year old, and you already know who’s the best of us, Steve pauses to reflect, all his fears chased away by a fierce pride. “Your Dad’s coming home real soon,” he promises, “you should tell him that.”
---------------
Or, five times Peter did the repulsor pose as a toddler
+ one time he used the repulsors as an adult
Classic Sci Fi: @notdoingsohot
Bucky wakes up to Steve telling him he's lost his memory, but not to panic, it'll only last a few days. Easier said than done when the last thing Bucky remembers is fighting Hydra with the Howlies in WWII.
He tries to make the most of it however, and there's this guy... Tony Stark. It's pretty clear the guy hates Bucky's guts, which is unfortunate because god damn is he a sight.
He tries to figure out what he did to wrong Stark, but everyone just tells him he doesn't want to know.
They were right.
Blooms in Frost: @/Diomedes
Tony coughs up his first petal on the sixth of July. He has been married to the love of his life for two years.
Bury a Hanahaki corpse in earth and it will beget the most beautiful garden. All that love, it is said, must go somewhere.
Hanahaki AU: Established relationship
------------------------------------------
A Single Thread of Gold: @lovelyirony
Rhodey doesn't believe in love at first sight or any of that cheesy shit. He just wants someone who is nice, dependable, and safe.
Tony Stark is Housing Service's little problem for the school year, and now he's stuck in Rhodey's room because he's exploded the last two dorm rooms he's been in and won't live off-campus.
high roller, place your bet: @machi-kun
“Would you kiss Stark for a hundred bucks?”
“I would pay a hundred bucks to kiss him.”
October
press my luck: @omg-just-peachy
But... Steve is almost ten years his junior, and he could be with just about anyone, looking and acting like he does. And then there’s the not so small fact of Tony’s name and net worth and the fact that, okay, Tony had paid for Steve’s grad school tuition, and now he’s worried Steve feels obligated to stay. Or something.
Or, Tony is a billionaire, Steve is a grad student, and they learn to let themselves be taken care of.
see it with the lights out: @starklysteve
Tony goes on a business trip, and he does not - not at all - get jealous of Dodger hogging his husband's chest, a territory otherwise known as Tony's pillow.
(or, Steve goes on an Instagram spree and Tony misses home)
adulthood is looking both ways before you cross the street and getting hit by an airplane: @starkslovemail
It was a perfect plan, if Peter did say so himself.
The Buy In: @dracusfyre
For the ImagineTonyandBucky prompt: Mafia AU with Tony as the Boss (except he's a really good one, making the streets safe, keeping drugs away from kids etc) and Bucky as the detective sent to go undercover to catch him out but ends up realizing he's actually doing more good than harm and they end up falling in love
trinkets of your affection: @starklysteve
Kissed him once for every year I loved him, Steve had written.
By that count, Steve owes him five more kisses now.
Tony traces the words, hands trembling, and tips back a shot of Howard's ancient whiskey. None of it burns anymore.
One day, he'll have lived more days without Steve than there are words in the diary.
For the first time since he'd woken with shrapnel in his chest, Tony fears the future.
----------
Or, five things Tony keeps to remember Steve by, and one thing Steve gives him to remember.
November
“Hey Tony”: @riotfalling
Steve points out that Bucky never calls Tony by his actual name. Bucky doesn’t believe him, until he does.
Remembering You is Hard to Do: @lovelyirony
“The future’s crazy, honey-bear.”
Jim looks up.
“Why do you call me that?”
“Call you what?”
“Honey-bear. It’s weird.”
“Inside joke we have,” Tony says, chest tightening. “We thought those couples that have the lovey-dovey nicknames were ridiculous.”
overheard your heartbeat (calling me yours): @starklysteve
"Tony - "
"I wish I could promise to come home this time," he feels the armor crawl back down his arm, continuing unnoticed over Steve's red gloves, then up the blue uniform as Tony fights to keep Steve's gaze firmly fixed on him.
The last eyes Tony might get to see, and he wants to be lost in them.
In the end, his entire life boils down a few simple things: "JARVIS, take care of him for me."
----------
Or, Tony overhears a phonecall where Steve proposes, a battle happens, and a paper ring settles some misunderstandings.
i (really, really, really, really, really, really) like you.: @nethandrake
For as long as Steve can remember, he's been crushing on Tony Stark. The thing is, he's pretty sure Tony doesn't know Steve exists. And how could he? Steve's scrawny and little. He's a nobody compared to Tony who's Mr Popular and the son of a billionaire.
Or at least he thought so until Tony swings by the bakery Steve's mother happens to own to enlist Steve's help in finding the perfect Valentine's Day card.
The perfect Valentine's Day card for someone who isn't Steve.
One Song (My Heart Keeps Singing): @iam93percentstardust
When Thor is old enough to understand what a Heartsong is, he goes to his mother to ask her why he can’t understand the language his is in. He listens as she tells him about the first soulmates who couldn't understand their Heartsong until the day they meet, excited by the thought of a grand adventure, one that will take him across the cosmos in search of his One.
He’ll search all the Nine Realms if he has to.
December
Swiping Right: @s-horne
“Ouch. Definitely a hard pass for that one?”
Steve startled at the sudden comment from the row of chairs behind him and turned around. He’d been passing the time in the airport lounge by swiping through Tinder and had gotten lost in his own world. It was almost jarring to be pulled away from the screen of hot men and back into reality where the PA was screeching and there was noise everywhere.
Adjusting to the difference, Steve frowned. Wait, he knew that face. Oh, shit… he knew that face.
“No, no, it’s fine,” the man said before Steve could get out anything other than an embarrassed sort of yelp. Waving his hand through the air, the stranger smiled ruefully. “I get it. It’s the beard, isn’t it? True be told, it was a weird winter choice that year and I knew it would come back to hurt me.”
Steve didn’t know what to say. He knew it must have shown on his face and could feel himself flushing, panicked and embarrassed all at once. What were the odds of swiping left on someone literally sat behind him?
set your flight path home (to me): @starklysteve
Tony puts down his welding torch. “I’m building you a plane.”
Stepping carefully over the gears and tools scattered about, Rhodey slowly makes his way to him.
“And when did you become an expert on how to build a plane?”
“Last night,” Tony grins.
---------------
Tony builds a plane, and Rhodey teaches Tony how to fly it. Or he would be teaching Tony, if Tony didn't distract him so much.
I Want A Man With A Slow Hand: @thefourofswords
“Can I ask you a question?” he asked on their way to a crime scene, because no time like the present, and Danny believed in ripping off band-aids.
“Why not?” Steve replied, eyes on the road. “You’re gonna even if I say no.”
“What do you like in bed?”
*
Danny undertakes a very important mission to get Steve laid. For his health. Ahem.
same time next year: @omg-just-peachy
“I forgot to ask. When’s your flight home?” Steve asks, draping his arm over Tony’s shoulder and settling in against him.
Tony ignores the knot that forms in his chest at the idea of it, leaving Steve again for his own impersonal apartment, his piles of books and projects and the nights without sleep.
“Day after tomorrow.”
Steve huffs a little sigh, then brings his lips to Tony’s neck. “Well, we’ll have to make the most of it, won’t we?”
Or, four (4) Christmases with two (2) idiots who can't admit they're in love.
rearrange my heart (to fit your smile): @starklysteve
"You dare," Howard's chair makes an ugly noise as it scrapes against the stone floors, the chatter of the room shifting into hushed whispers and stolen glances. "I am your father and your King!"
"My King is my husband," Tony tips his chin up, defiant. "And I refuse to hear you suggest that my husband has been anything other than good to me."
Next to him, he feels Steve's shoulders stiffen in surprise.
Howard's fist slams loud on the table. "Your husband does not even love you!"
Tony jerks back, burned. He knows that. Knows that Steve did not marry him for love – does not need any reminder of the cold truth, of what he desperately yearns for and can't even hope to have – but the harshness of Howard's words was scalding, and Tony can't afford for this to go any further.
----------
Or, King Steven marries Prince Tony, Tony is pretty sure he shouldn't panic when he falls in love with his own husband, and Steve tries his very best not to cause diplomatic crises.

Hello! I saw your post about 15.18 and you said something about /knowing/ Cas comes back in ep20? I could really use the hope right now, so can I ask why you're so sure? (I was devastated yesterday because a lot of the things MIsha said kinda sounded like yes, this was it, that was actually Cas's last scene, even in the private one-on-ones.)
Hi!! I don’t have definitive proof but overall the consensus in the meta circles (I am not a meta writer to be clear) and just the Tumblr corner I am in is pretty clear that Misha will be in Cas. It’s the small things (yet this is turning out to be fucking long so buckle up):
Finale: Misha apparently said he was in the finale (however I don’t remember this)
Contract: Misha said during a meet & greet all the way in the beginning of season 15 that he signed on for 15 episodes. Right now as of episode 18, he has only been in 14, so there should be one more.
Another reason: the bury your gays trope. Bury your gays is such an overused and insulting trope and it is extremely, extremely fucking lazy. It’s awful. It is a well-known trope within fandoms, so it has to be extremely well-known within the small-knit writers' units in Hollywood. Don’t get me wrong, there are enough who still go for it. But I doubt Bobo would ever write an episode with that trope because at the end of the day it overshadows a character’s entire arc. If you go with the bury your gays trope, you sully the entire story that character has gone through and you eventually overshadow their coming out. Since Dabb took over, the queer subtext within Supernatural definitely was kicked up a notch due to the writers he surrounded himself with. A while back, a fan gifted Dabb a book about Destiel and he apparently kept that book because when a writers’ assistant came in as a new hire, she posted a picture of that book with the caption along the lines of “required reading”. Point is: They’ve taken Destiel extremely seriously. They've fought for years to get the queer subtext through and to get it as outspoken as it was in this season. Because this season’s plotline A is allllll about Dean and Cas’ relationship. You don’t go through that entire fight, only to end up with bury your gays overshadowing all your efforts. Another important thing to remember is that Misha had his online panel yesterday. He asked a fan what the response to the episode was and, in particular, was concerned about the bury your gays trope. He is an outspoken ally of the LGBTQ+ community, I doubt he’d be happy to contribute to such lazy and awful writing that hurts the LGBTQ+ community. It also sounded like both Jensen and Misha had more of a say in Cas’ love confession than you’d expect. Misha even said that he was concerned that if Jensen was against it, they wouldn’t go through with it. That’s a lot of leeway for two actors who should normally just act out what’s being written. I doubt Misha would go for it, if this was Cas’ entire end. For instance, The Magicians season 4 (I think) went all bury your gays and the backlash was huge. I don’t watch it but from what I gathered even the actor who played the buried gay character spoke out against the plotline.
Just ending: Honestly, the way we know how Bobo and Dabb have run Supernatural the past few years. They are very much about recognizing the hero and going against all odds. They’ve poked fun at Game of Thrones’ finale (I don’t know if you’ve seen it but it was a fucking sad and depressive shit show and mostly awful for the majority of its characters). Bobo has even said on Twitter that GOT is totally different than SPN. They believe in a fit-for-a-hero and deserving ending. It won’t necessarily be the happy ending we want but it’ll be a fit and deserving ending. I’m sure of that. In order for it to be deserving and fit, Cas needs to be alive.
Dean: Even if we didn’t have all that, just look at Dean as a character. In season 13, when Cas was killed, Dean was shown grieving as a widower and even killed himself, he was perfectly fine dying. He gave up because Cas was dead.  You could say that he lost a lot of people then which is true but Sam saw the major shift in Dean when Cas came back: “It’s good to see you smile.” And Dean said it himself “Well, I said I needed a big win. We got Cas back. That’s a pretty damn big win.”  We then had 15x09, which Bobo our Destiel king wrote and really hammered it home. In that episode, we saw Dean losing Cas again (momentarily) in Purgatory. The thought of losing Cas again made him fall down on his knees and pray to Cas not even knowing if he could hear it, while simultaneously tearing up. But more significantly, in that same episode, Chuck is torturing Sam and showing him the future. In one of those flash-forwards, we see Dean trying to plead with Sam to just give up, that hunting monsters is an uphill battle. He shouts at Sam over the fact that he had to bury Cas in the Ma’lak Box. That episode hammered home twice, in the present as well as in the future, that Dean gives up when he loses Cas. Dean loses his will to live when he loses Cas and that results in him killing himself due to giving up.  So that is three times within three seasons that they showed Dean losing Cas and the fallout it had on Dean. Now add episode 18 and that is four times in three seasons that they showed Dean losing Cas. Now that entire mini-essay I just wrote, was all to circle back to my fourth point: They are going for the opposite of the GOT finale. No doom and gloom here. In order to not have a doom and gloom ending, Cas needs to be with Dean. Because if Cas isn’t with Dean, Dean gives up and kills himself doing so. If Dean kills himself, Sam isn’t gonna be happy (obviously), and neither will Jack. So by Dean losing Cas, the entirety of the main leads will be unhappy. That is not the ending Bobo and Dabb are writing.
Misha: What you’re referring to about Misha’s panel, i completely understand that but and that’s really important to remember, he can’t spoil the following two episodes. What’s one thing that Supernatural is known for (besides being gay). It’s that nobody ever dies. If he would say outright that Cas doesn’t come back, he spoils that we won’t be seeing him anymore. If Cas does come back, he can’t spoil that either. The only thing Misha did was being fucking doom and gloomy. I love him but he needs to wind back the depressive shit.  For over a year, he kept it a secret that Cas was gonna confess his love to Dean, which he knows would be a massive relief to a lot of fans. Instead of spoiling that, Misha gave the most depressive answers for that entire year and honestly brought a loooooot of fans down because it sounded like he was looking at an awful ending. So now he’s again going all doom and gloom but I’m not falling for it.
Dabb and Bobo both recognize what Misha has done for this show: keeping it on the air for this long (obviously not alone). They wouldn't write him off for the last two episodes.
Oh one more thing: if you look at Dean and Cas’s arc it’s repeating itself:
Season 12: Cas and Dean are a married couple who bicker, towards the end Cas chooses Jack and Dean is angry, then Cas dies
Season 13: Dean is a widower, Cas comes back, Dean acts like he is the personification of happiness when Cas comes back (he was so cute in “Tombstone”)
Season 14: Gonna be honest it kinda felt like maybe someone higher up said to dial back the outspoken Dean and Cas. End of season 14 (which was after it was known that s15 was gonna be the last), Dean and Cas are having a dispute again.
Season 15: Further (marital) dispute, Cas dies (again lol), and now what .... They’re recycling what they did in season 12 and part of season 13 to tell Dean and Cas’ relationship in season 15. I can’t blame them, it makes for great storytelling. All of that is to say: Cas needs to come back and do season 15′s “Tombstone”, which will be the finale. However, this time the higher-ups aren’t gonna hold them back. (I hope)
This was long jesus hahaha

Save Him
Tumblr media
Warning: A total rewrite of Carry on because…well…it’s shit. And maybe not from start to finish, the beginning half of the episode was good. No other warnings, just a feel good fic to help cope with the end of SPN.
Pairing: Dean x Reader
A/N: Events are after the fight with the vampires.
Word Count: 1,369
Mobile Masterlist
Summary: Sam and Dean go on one last hunt. But just before the older Winchester can accept his fate, his little brother fights for him one last time.
(My opinion, the acting was awesome. Jared and Jensen deserve all the Oscars after that performance. Just, story-wise, it’s shit. Too fast and rushed. And out of character, Sam didn’t even call 911, or put an attempt into saving Dean. They just accepted ‘fate’. After they said they’re better together, and worthless apart. Dean saying, he sees him retiring from the life in Season 13, and actually seeming like he was looking forward to it. Sure, it’s the only way to end the show, but too soon. Dean deserved more, and Sam’s kids deserve an uncle. The boys deserve to grow a family of their own. But that is just my opinion, Jensen and Jared will forever be my favorites.)
~
“It’s okay,” Dean says. Fighting off the pain as best as he could. “It’s okay, it’s good.”
“It’s good.” He says, smiling.
“No Dean, this is not good.” Sam argues. Clearly upset and freaking out his older brother is dying and there’s nothing he can do about it.
Unless…
“Jack!” he calls out, pacing the barn.
“Sam, don’t.” Dean groans. “He said he was hands off.”
“Jack if you can hear me, save him. You owe us that much!”
Moments later Jack appears in the barn.
“Jack, save him.”
“Of course, Sam. You don’t have to ask me twice.” Jack says. Snapping his fingers. Snapping the boys back to the bunker, Dean fully healed. Miracle running over to them, greeting them with licks and tail wags.
“But I thought—”
“I owed you guys that much. For all the things I’ve done to you, Mary. I just wanted to not only make it up to you guys, but to give you a proper chance at life.” Jack explains.
Dean stood there, speechless and taken aback by Jack’s reasoning. He was still wanting their forgiveness, and he did it by bringing Dean back to life.
“A proper chance?” Dean asked.
“I got Cas out of the Empty and we’re working on making a world just for monsters. So, this world can be free of them. No more monsters, no more hunting.” Jack says.
“That’s amazing Jack, thank you.” Sam says.
“Yeah, that’s awesome.”
Jack smiles on his family. “Anything for my family.” And vanishes.
“So,” Sam goes. “What now?”
“Now, we start living.”
 5 years later…
After 5 years of leaving the bunker and living the apple pie life. Sam, managed to get back together with Eileen, and have been married to her for two years. Sam working at a law firm agency, having gone back to law school, and graduated recently with honors.
Dean’s story. Dean always liked working around cars, he liked working with his hands. Dean tried his hand at school, wanting to open up his own garage. Not being a fan of being bossed around and such, following in Bobby’s footsteps. Opening a garage, scrap yard, fixing up cars, reselling them. Restoring them. At Winchester’s Restorations.
It wasn’t until a few years later, after his garage has been opened, and the Winchester’s are living comfortably in their apple pie life, he had a visit he didn’t know he was waiting for his whole life.
It was a stormy night, his garage normally closes around 8pm, later than most garages in Lawrence Kansas.
A car pulls up to his garage, sounding god awful. The engine making a noise even he didn’t like the sounds of it.
Hurrying outside, he urged the driver to shut off her car. She does so.
Grabbing her things, she gets out of her car.
“My car has been making this noise all day today, and just as I’m driving home from work the check engine light came on.” She explained. “Now, I know you do restorations, but what about just, regular like, garage stuff like fix up cars like mine.” She asked.
“I know what you mean, and yes, I do that stuff too. Let’s get you squared away so I can do it tomorrow.” Dean says with a smile.
They hurry inside to get out of the rain.
Dean grabbed the correct paperwork, having her fill out her information of her car and her contact information and the problem. And handing it back to him.
“Alright, I’ll start on it first thing tomorrow.” He tells her.
“Thank you so much.”
“It’s not a problem.” He says with a smile. “Do you have a ride home miss?”
“Um, no I don’t. I’m new to Lawrence.” She says.
“It’s totally fine, I have no problem giving you a ride, if you like.” Dean offered.
“I don’t know you.”
“Just thought I’d offer.” Dean says.
“My name is y/n. I’m from Nebraska, and I’m a writer.” She says.
“Dean Winchester, I’m was born and raised here.”
She nods. As the two get to know each other.
Dean happily gave her the ride, she accepted happily given the storm not lighting up.
As Dean sat outside her house, while she gathered her things and got ready to head in.
“I really enjoyed your company Dean, maybe you should call me some time.” She offers.
“I’ll take you up on that offer sweetheart. See you soon.” Dean smiles.
She smiles back, as she exits the impala, she’s taking a number of times looking back at Dean. She shuts the car door behind her, running inside so as to not get soaked by the rain.
Dean keeps an eye out to make sure she is in the house, safe and sound before driving off.
Only to make a turn seeing the road flooded. Turning around he tries another route to getting out of the neighborhood, getting the same road.
It had been raining all day that day, and well into the evening. It’s no surprise if the creeks and rivers have gone over their banks, or even the storm drains having a hard time keeping up with the rainfall. So, he drives back to her place.
Rings her doorbell. She opens the door after a few beats. Dressed in her more comfortable clothes, sweats, oversized t-shirt and a pair of big warm socks.
“Problem?” she asks, when she sees him.
“Roads are flooded, kind of trapped here.” He says sheepishly.
“It’s not a problem, come on in.” she offers
She had popped in a couple of frozen pizza’s in the oven while Dean got himself comfortable.
She headed up to her guest bedroom, where she had spare clothes stashed away. From number ex-boyfriends who have forgotten most of their clothes. She grabbed Dean a pair of sweats and a comfy t-shirt.
She heads back downstairs to offer Dean the clothes.
“I have some clothes, hope they fit.” She offers.
“I’m sure it’ll be fine, thanks sweetheart.” He says, taking the clothes.
“Bathroom is down this hall here on the left.” She points out.
Dean makes his way to the bathroom, getting out of his work clothes and into the comfy clothes offered to him.
The beeping of the oven going off as he exits the bathroom.
“Hope you don’t mind, I heated up some pizza.”
“It’s okay, I am starving, thanks for offering.”
She smiles, offering him a styrofoam plate of pizza.
Dean spent the night that night, and every night since then.
After that night, they bonded over stories. She learned of the places he’s been, she knows he’s keeping a major part of his life secret. But maybe it is for the best that she doesn’t know the hell he has been through.
As the years went on, Sam and Dean having families of their own. Sam had his son, who he named after his brother Dean. And Dean having him kids of his own, two boys, twins and a girl. Kevin, Jack and Charlie.
Monsters really were a thing of the past. But the people over the years up to this point, the people Sam and Dean have saved, made stories. Like heroes to legends.
They lived their life, happy and to the fullest.
Sam and Dean died of old age in their homes, surrounded by family and those they love.
Up in heaven, where Bobby sat on the porch of Harvell’s Roadhouse and waited for the boys to enter heaven.
“It’s about time you boys showed up.”
“Bobby?” Dean asks.
“What memory is this?” Sam asks.
“This ain’t a memory. You’re not living in your golden years anymore. Rufus just lives about half mile that way. You’re parents there.” Bobby pointed out.
“Wait, mom and dad are here?” Sam asked. Bobby nods.
Sam taking off, Dean following him.
They catch a glimpse Dean’s Impala, with his old Kansas plates, KAZ 2Y5. Dean excited he sees his old baby again.
“Let’s go see our family.” Sam says. Dean smiles, agreeing.
Dean turning the key in the ignition of the impala, roaring the engine to life.
The radio playing Carry on Wayward Son by Kansas.
“God, I love this song.” Dean sighs.
“Same.” Sam says.

Last week the @skepticbeliever-bookclub prompted us to post a selection of our favourite shyan fics so there’d be a nice little way to highlight all the hidden gems of favourites we might already recognise and love while sharing a few we might never have found otherwise. Last December I posted a little list of some of my favourites so I figured I’d dust off that list with a few new additions of particular favourites I treasure.
Be All My Sins Remembered by spoopyy
Summary:  In every lifetime, they find each other.
Review: This fic manages to take you on a long journey through what feels like a series of AUs and they all weave in and out of the wealth of their relationship with some vivid descriptions of the historical settings their journey takes them through. As someone who grew up reading Anne Rice’s epics through historical events, this fic is right up my alley. A vampire Shane passing through the wave of human society’s climb searching for a reincarnated Ryan again and again, trying to hold on to him and keep him through great tragedies and timeframes that just don’t let them be together. This was one of the first fics I read when I was only a lurker and to be quite honest, I need to give this one a nice re-read, maybe for the book club which would be loads of fun. Either way, 10/10. Would be Hurt in the heart again.
Perfect Fit by @beaniegara
Summary:  There’s a legend that says anyone able to take all of statue Shane’s cock will summon the god to the mortal realm. Given the statue’s excessive size, no one has ever succeeded to prove or disprove the story. Until Ryan that is.
Review: Listen. You wanna talk actual fandom legends. This fic is one of them and it pulls out all the stops on being delicious and evocative. Also features one of my favourite incarnations of size queen bergara. Good stuff and you’re really rooting for Ryan in this lol.
a prize for rotten judgement  by sarcasticfishes
Summary: “You’d drive each other crazy. You sit together at your office all day, and then you’d be commuting home together, eating dinner together, watching TV together, going to bed — well, not together, but you get it, right?”
It doesn’t sound so awful to Shane. There are worse people he could be spending all his hours with than Ryan Bergara.
Review: The moment I happened to glance at the notes of this and saw that Fie’s secondary title for this would have been Ryan and Shane move to the Suburbs, I about lost it with excitement. Primarily because the show this references is one of my favourite comedies and that is one of my all-time favourite episodes. Let me tell you though, even if the reference is lost on you, this story is so much gold rolled into a heart-gripping tale of two best friends who spend every waking moment together taking the plunge to share a home and they were roommates oh my god they were roommates. Shane is pining and you’ll pine right along with him as you’ll yell and holler for him to stop being so damn real and full of doubt. It really is worth every gasp of pain and all the more for the execution but the delivery will leave you in delight. Certainly had me yelling at the author. This fic is gonna be one of my timeless favourites; I knew it the moment I began.
Everything’s Weird and We’re Always in Danger by beethechange
Summary: Ryan perches on the edge of the bed, an indistinct shape that Shane can only just make out in the dark, so he turns the lamp back on. He wants to see Ryan’s face, wants to know that he is alright. Ryan’s cheeks are damp, his hands fisted in the hideous flowered duvet.
“It won’t go away,” Ryan says miserably. “I’ve been like this since we got here, basically, and it won’t fucking—”
“Ah,” Shane says. “Well, you know, sometimes fear…adrenaline…they can affect people. Physically.” He waves his hands indistinctly crotchward. “It’s a, a scientifically known phenomenon.” Shane feels a little better staying in the realm of scientifically known phenomena.
Review: Word of advice. You see a fic is authored by beethechange, run don’t walk because you’re absolutely always going to be treated to the best of banter, the best of prose, chemistry, organic execution and feels right up the bottom end of your heart. This fic, this changed everything I thought I knew I wanted out of a bed-sharing fic. It’s got a little bit of two treats here. You got a sex-pollen-esque situation mixed with bed-sharing and holy fucking damn that is more than you think you deserve, but read this because you do deserve the best of the best. The build up, the dialogue, the surprisingly hilarity of it, the hotness woah, and The Aftermath. When you think you know what you’re in for, you’re wrong and you’re most pleasantly surprised. Get this fic in your life and honestly? while you’re at it, you could do a clean sweep of every fic in her list of works and while my less than adequate reading time management may still be short on some of her most well-recommended pieces, I have an adamant faith that Bee doesn’t disappoint. Go get y’all juice.
Maelstrom by thewindupbird
Summary:  Here’s the thing about driving halfway across the country to see someone. You can’t really deny, after that, that you’re pretty much head over heels for them.
Review: Listen. One morning on a day off, I just laid in bed and read this– all 40k+ words– while lying there clutching my pillows, hurting and loving every moment of it. The descriptions of Americana, the slow steady metronome rhythm of Ryan’s feelings as frightened and helpless as they feel when you’re relating deeply to them juxtaposed with the deep-seated struggle of understanding what it is to be with someone you love so much but your mental health is burning quiet holes in your ability to express it in a way that can be understand. Ryan’s fierce determination, breaking through the silence of their non communication is really Everything to me in this fic. i think I really left my heart in the scene in Shane’s parents kitchen. That finished me. Read this fic and understand the deep relief you get when you’ve finished a fight with someone you fiercely care about and they understand you and you understand them and it’s OK; it’s gonna be all right. Augh.
5 times Shane had to overrule Ryan’s “No Homo” + 1 time he didn’t have to by ghoulboyboos
Summary: There was only one thing that would truly drive him up the wall with Ryan, much more than any debate about ghosts ever could: Ryan’s consistent twitches of “no homo” when any sort of physical contract between them happened.
Review: I have such a soft special spot in my heart for this fic particularly because Lud manages to examine a trope I tend to avoid in such a sweet and honest way I couldn’t not love this fic. The story takes a painstaking and very real look at the “no homo” issue as it weaved through the journey that was early days Ryan and Shane. Shane’s reaction to in this and how he communicates with Ryan has such a very heartfelt and once again, real quality to it. I get in my feelings all over again about how far they’ve come and what it meant for Ryan to have Shane there. Lud really nails this piece and it’s a classic in my eyes.
A Burial on Box Hill by InkStainsOnMyHands
Summary: The Celtics believed that the yew flower symbolized both immortality and death. Meanwhile, for centuries, the buxus flower was seen as a symbol for safe passage into the afterlife.
Or,Shane and Ryan were never the same after investigating the Black Forest of Germany alone.
Review: Let me just quote my bookmark comment here. Usually I flee from tragedy like a cat spotting a cucumber but the brevity and the prose dragged me in and now I’m a functioning mess. Bless this fic. Oh my god it’s short and reads like one of those quick horror stories you’ll read to your friends just as the scary stories are transitioning from the urban legends to the ones that feel real. Big warning for main character death but still read it if you appreciate a good story told.
Body Farming by shiphitsthefan
Summary: Failed suppressants and a surprise heat: the worst of cliches, and here Ryan stands, living the trope on location with the alpha he’s hopelessly in love with. Even worse, they’re spending the night in the famous Bell Witch Cave, completely alone and with no way to contact the outside world.
Ryan knows he can survive and keep his preheat a secret, as long as Shane will stop being so protective and concerned. After all, it’s not like Shane wants to bond with him.
Right?
Review: Now judging from the reactions of many people I’ve spoken to, big heavy ABO kink is not popular here but guys, GUYS. This one. Let this one in I promise it is not what you think it is. The dynamic is organic and the worst side of the trope is subverted in all the best ways and lord help us, the smut is hot, like swelteringly smoking. It’ll stay with you.
Believer by cellard00rs
Summary:  Some demons and otherworldly creatures love climbing up the power ladder. Shane is not one of these. He likes where he is (thank you very much) and has no interest in moving up. All he wants is to give his friend Ryan a nice birthday gift. So, naturally, everything goes to hell.
Review: This fic is another fandom legend. When I think demon!Shane. It’s this and one other one that always pops right into my mind. This was my first exposure to the bureaucracy meets the supernatural!Shane trope and I was sold from the get-go. The Shane in this fic is everything I imagine a demon!Shane is and his ginger care for Ryan, the concept of their bond and how even though Shane is a demon and responsible for keeping the supernatural a firm secret from Ryan and the rest of the world, his skepticism is relayed through his status as a demon. I want to talk more about it but I think so much of the enjoyment comes from the surprises as the plot unfurls.
hey boy, take a look at me by weakspots
Summary: Ryan is 27, for Christ’s sake, and he’s not exactly hideous, so there’s really no reason to spend his money on a dude — a dude — whose face he’ll never see but whose livestreams he’s been jerking off to for roughly 4 months now. He should be going out and partying and fucking random chicks. Or a guy, whatever, just to get it out of his system and confirm to himself that he really is 100% straight.
Because he is. This is morbid curiosity, if anything.
Review: I’ve been a long-time fan of this universe and it was a universe I didn’t know I needed until this author gave it to us. We or rather me, a desperate audience, just devoured this with every update. Not only is it hot, but it has the delicious intrigue of secret identity, anonymous stuff and a LOT of blush-worthy prose therein. This version of Shane makes me thrive but the titillating nature of straight-identifying!Ryan being bowled over by the turn of events that leads him to his world tilting into the gravity of a camboy just--you Have to read this one!
Heartbeat by quackers
Summary:  So the guy Ryan sits next to at work is a vampire. That’s no big deal, right?
Review: I could talk your literal ear off about this fic. Vampires, man. I love the trope; you don’t know me as a person if you don’t know this at least. And this fic kept me fed all damn year. It was a readable garden. If there is one thing I can guarantee about quackers’ work, it’s that their world-building is a festival of detail. The realms and alternate universes they work with while still managing to keep Shane and Ryan’s voices so familiar and real is a talent not attributed to your everyday author. This fic propelled me into wanting to write more and more because quackers makes stories so much fun! Reading their work is, to me, not unlike the feeling I got when I was younger and finding series that speak to my need to escape this crummy existence, made me want to believe in fun spicy things like a vampire that lived through centuries, cynical but still searching, navigating a world where people are still people, adjusting to differences and prejudices, finding comfort in a guy that understands that and more. I’ve talked about this fic in more than a few different posts so I’d just be reiterating a lot of things I loved about the more historical aspects of Shane’s journey, the way Ryan is so firmly curious and inventive in ways to connect with Shane. Look, even if vampires aren’t your thing, I can promise that if you visit quackers list of work, you will find something for your supernatural-lovin’ palate that speaks to a gentler side of your own curiosity about monsters and the jocks that love them. lol.
I’ll Crawl Home by carrieonfighting
Summary:  “Shane was almost unnerved by how quickly he’d settled into this body, this name, this life - his friendship with Ryan was the most time he’d spent with any human before, and yet the man fascinated him.”
Review: This is the second fic I think of when someone says the words ‘demon!Shane’ to me because ohhhh my word, this fic is a masterpiece. I really am hard-pressed to find anything better than the feeling I get when I think of demon!Shane headcanons interwoven with the irl Buzzfeed reality and the idea of the Ryan as we know him being protected and watched and loved so deeply by a demon that found him so long ago and wanted nothing but to protect him. I feel an almost vicious glee reliving that moment when Ryan and Shane are on goatman’s bridge and man, I just really love canonical fic mixed with a slight twist. The writing in this makes it work so well with lines that still haunt my heart and soul like “Ryan liked popcorn. So did the demon. Genuinely, not just out of a desire to please the human – he liked the way it crunched between his vessel’s teeth. There were some aspects of taking a corporeal form that were… nice; laughing, coffee, feeling warm. Ryan made him laugh.” FUCK! The beautiful agony of it, watching the demon fall in love with Ryan through the eyes of his vessel. Just stark with pain and unspoken, well-written angst and pain with a perfect ending, I wouldn’t change for anything. I love this for us as a fandom and will always love that author crafted this piece and shared it with us. (Also every time I hear Work Song by Hozier, I think of this fic again and sigh).

talkin bout fuckig manga
hey it’s me, haven’t had internet for over a week and i’ve been sick and uni and blah blah blah time for a rant about manga
this time its about  "Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru", tl;dr, good manga read it idk
lots of bullshit below the cut
Before anything I say gets too confusing or I go off on an insane tangent, just know my recommendation is that you read "Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru". It's not very easy to find online since it has an official English release (which my recommendation extends far enough to suggest I might pick up in the future, just to have it, but I am very stingy), but there's an alright torrent of all the volumes on your local anime torrenting website, and is at the very least worth the trouble of reading as such. There is also an anime that gets better as it goes, but the manga is my primary recommendation. Beyond this point I'm not gonna give much regard to what I write, so get ready for anything, read the manga and see if you agree with me, or don't and see if I care:
BOUT THE ANIME: The SoreMachi anime is one of those rare comedy anime you find where the animation and overall production is just really extra the entire time. Hopefully you know what I mean because I won't really be able to explain it any other way, it's simply one of those shows where the jokes are decent and it's a fun time for the most part. Unfortunately, the anime makes a couple of critical missteps that kept me from getting far into it when I first tried watching it about a year ago, and in retrospect seem even less reasonable.
Starting with the good, as an adaptation it does a good job with most chapters it covers, it properly sources where each chapter comes from incase you intend to read the manga and skip around to catch up, and the anime adapts some sections to have additional jokes that fit very naturally in to the story. It also covers up some of those problems only manga can have like having a concert segment without any actual music involved, until they invent mp3-paper it's just something we'll have to live with. Translation work was pretty good (I watched the [WhyNot] release for those who care), which is extra important for something as difficult to translate as jokes from another language. The set of episodes they chose to end on was very good, and was expanded to be a lot more impactful in the anime. If it wasn't for the last episode being as strong as it was I may have given up on finding the manga when I saw it wasn't super easy to read online.
As for what the anime fails in, some episodes feature some really blatant over-acting that doesn't really help make characters believable, and there's this obnoxious gag that continues the whole where through where most scenes have a few seconds long line from what is essentially a forced mascot character, which usually mean nothing and only serve to harm the pacing of many episodes (there isn't even any sort of equivalent bit in the manga so I really don't know why they did it, most of the anime original jokes are pretty good so I just really don't get it). The biggest issue the anime faces is that the source material is about 140 chapters, while the anime is only able to cover 24 chapters. This comes with a LOT of problems, the first being what I'd call the "required reading". SoreMachi is not a 1-note simple comedy where you can skip to any chapter and be completely okay; There are many small but meaningful subplots lying beneath, and characters have a fair bit of development throughout. What this means for the anime is that the first 3-4 episodes are just the first few chapters of the manga, which are a bit rough and not as good as the majority of the work, which is true of a lot of comics (god fuck I promise there will be more than a first chapter of my comic I promise it'll get better fuck). In terms of the anime by itself, I'd say episode 1 is decent, 2 is middling, and by 3/4 their still taking a while to introduce members of the cast, and I didn't immediately want to finish it. I put the show down for a long time until my internet started dying and I wanted to watch something fun. Slapping it back on at episode 5 I immediately had a great time and watched the rest of the show pretty soon after. While I understand the reasoning behind doing this, the anime does not pay off this structure, as beyond the first few episodes, the chapters start being presented out of release order and out of chronological order, kind of destroying any consistent throughline. This decision in and of itself isn't the worst, since the comic isn't always chronological, and the volume ordering is a bit different from the release ordering, but the inconsistency makes the first few episodes feel lessened without reason. The other large failure that comes with only animating about 1/7th of the entire work is that many themes and concepts that are core to the manga are not represented in the anime well at all. One of the biggest is the rare but unnerving supernatural chapters, of which only one is animated, and not a particularly good one. In order to talk about these themes I'll have to transition into talking about the manga itself, since they aren't part of the anime.
DA MANGA: So one last recommendation that you read the manga, the whole damn thing. Cus we're gettin into themes and character moments that take a long time to pay off, and obviously is all part of my interpretations, so if that stuff means anything to you don't let me ruin it for ya.
The title of the manga is, in essence, the entire manga's "punchline" in that every chapter could meaningfully end with simply the text "And yet the town still turns..." (My translation of the title, fuck "And yet, the town revolves" or "But the town moves"); by this I mean most chapters end in an anti-climax where a mystery is left unsolved, or a mystery is solved and undercut by the realization that life simply keeps on going without much change. This is used to essentially force your eyes open to all possibilities when reading, as the main character spends her time acting like a detective, and these mysteries end up as either misunderstandings, secrets, riddles, and sometimes something out of the ordinary happens that makes you unable to pin anything down firmly. Similarly, these endings aren't always read-and-forget scenarios. Several chapters come back in the form of a continued joke, a continued mystery, or contribute to some greater purpose later. Readers are properly rewarded for keeping everything they can in mind, while also tormenting such people with loose ends.
I enjoy Hotori as a protagonist due to her character being defined not in flaws and strengths, but in mindedness. Hotori seems like a simple "haha she's dumb" character to start, but consistently throughout she proves that her strengths are in memory, observation, and deduction, while lacking in some more common sense and abilities. Her brain works in strange ways that some people may or may not understand, such as her need to think through even the most trivial fictional scenarios, which I relate to deeply.
The art and paneling throughout are wonderful. Ishiguro Masakazu is one of those artists who draws very simple characters, but knows how to use details and depth to breath so much life into the artwork. He also clearly uses the occasional supernatural happenings as an excuse to draw what he loved, as all sorts of artistic depictions of the supernatural come out that simply look satisfying. These parts obviously meant a lot to him since he's been working on a primarily mystery-action manga that has a lot more of that stuff in it. (Also, as hindsight is 20/20, if you've read any of his new work you'll notice that the main character of it is eerily similar to a character who shows up very late in SoreMachi that the author obviously fell in love with, cus she just keeps coming back and even ends up with a really unsettling end to her character arc despite only being introduced as a component in a harmless mystery. Feel free to call me out for the same shit 30 years from now when I'll probably do the same shit)
I'd like to get into some of the major themes of this work, as a lot of them hit very close to my mind (which I guess is true of any theme you recognize for yourself, you wouldn't really "get it" if it didn't mean something to you...).
The simplest theme, again, comes from the title. The main character, Hotori, expresses a desire that the town she lives in continues going on, unchanged forever. This is obviously a fear of change, which ya know, same, but also an exploration of what it means to fear change. Hotori actively tries to keep businesses from closing down, keep friends from leaving, and keep relationships from changing, while simultaneously making all sorts of new relationships and solving mysteries. Hotori even comes to realize that simply learning the truth about something changes the world through your own perspective, and that such changes can't be undone. In spite of this, Hotori mostly gets her wish, any time she fears that a large change will impact the town, its resolved about the same as any other issue. Whether its a message that even time can't keep you from your loved ones and that change isn't worth fearing, or a concession that large changes to the setting would be a bad idea in terms of humor, I can't really decide. This theme reaches it's conclusion in what is one in a series of "ending" kinda chapters at the end of the series. Hotori is faced with a supernatural ethical situation, save her town from destruction at the cost of her existence, or live through the disaster, knowing her town and the people in it will forever be changed. While the actual result is that nobody disappears and nothing is lost, and the event may have simply been a strange dream, Hotori confidently decides that sparing the people in her town from a life altering event is worth giving up her memories with them. A kind of bold spit-in-the-face to the idea that change is okay, where we find that Hotori didn't fear change for herself, but rather for the people around her.
There's another major idea in this manga, which takes a very long time to pay off, and completes its arc at the very very very actual end of the series, the idea of "leading someone to be something". A character that rides that line between main and side character, Shizuka, is a writer of detective novels, who feels the best person to judge her works would be a version of herself without the bias of being the author. She tries to achieve this by leading Hotori to be interested in detective works (including her own) and generally be just like her, starting from a young age. The end result is a young girl dead set on being a detective herself (or at least another novelist), while Shizuka keeps her identity as an author secret. She then uses Hotori as a scapegoat for herself, attempting to see how she would solve various mysteries and use that as inspiration, and this is depicted as though Shizuka were some sort of villain, which she may feel like she is. The end result of it all, though, is that Hotori was likely already a detective-minded person, and that even if Shizuka pushed her down that path, it was Hotori's decision to continue down it, and the very end of the manga is a scene revealing that Hotori figured out Shizuka's secret at some point, and even still respected Shizuka and aspired to reach her, and the two accept each other for who they are. I enjoy this ending a lot, since as an artist I've worried that some of my love or aspirations for and from other artists came with an ulterior motive of wanting a better community for art to exist in, but people are people and will make their own decisions, and some day everyone may be able to become equals in a truly meaningful sense, where everyone is inspired by and guiding each other together.
So that probably didn't mean shit to nobody and I didn't even really talk about anything in the comic like most of the main characters or any of the shit goin on but ya know fuck you go read it, and thanks for reading this.

I know the feeling, I think, in my own way. It's the pain you don't expect, the little reminders, the details of life that somehow change. Grief is a tricky thing, always finding a new way to surprise you.
I lost my grandparents a few years back and that scene from regenisis made me remember that conversation so vividly. That moment when it just hits, all of a sudden, how fast and real the possibility is. How soon. When you finally have to face the truth. When you have to let go. And you talked about it so well...
You put words to these indescribable feelings, these moments, in this simple, vivid way. You have that Writer's Gift. You've made me sob, you've made me laugh hysterically, you've made me rage. There's a lifetime of emotion in your words. Those glass shards turn to diamonds. It's an honor, to be allowed to read these stories you've poured your soul into.
Man, I full-on Pattersoned pep talked you. Whoops. No regrets. You're a wrecking ball of talent and I shall sing your praise forever.
Speaking of the disaster gremlin...guess who sent in the Emily and Luke prompt? Yeah that was everything I've ever wanted. Wow.
Just the way you write the two of them...Luke is so clearly his mother's son. The moment when Emily decided to be a little petty as she woke him up it just hit me how alike they are. And I snorted when she swore, and that last line!!! When she promised she'd always be there! Pain. Unbelievable pain. You just write the love in their relationship so well, and that just makes the ending even more tragic. ( I read your authors note. As if I WASN'T crying already. Thanks for reminding me of "Oh he wanted to be held. he wanted to say everything" which haunts me day and night by the way). Also, wow, Sick Luke refusing to rest is litterally me.
Oh and I sent the Juke too. God that was everything. I'm incredibly soft for the way you write them, it just makes me melt. And the chaos of your luke descriptions END ME.
Oh, please don't even worry about getting the prompts out fast! Take care of yourself fiancee. I enjoy them whenever they pop up. It gives me something to look forward to.
Speaking of WIPS, did you just say MAJOR CHARACTER DEATH? HELLO??? I'M SO INTRIGUED AND TERRIFIED AND EXCITED NOW????
Can't wait for triple threat and himbos. I'm so ready.
OH and I forgot to ask: do you have a Goblin fancast?
-Vampire Anon <3
Oh my god... you're not kidding. Grief is a special type of agony that's really impossible to describe, to fully comprehend, until you've lived it. How awful is that? It's like... we can share our pain with the world, but it will only fully resonate with someone who can draw on their own personal experiences. Of course, it doesn't have to be identical --- like, how many people have had to deal with their ghost bestie potentially fading out of existence --- but it hits something deeply personal, some emotional blister that will never fully heal, and it hurts. Hurts in... a cathartic way, I hope. Some pain doesn't simply demand to be felt, it has to be, or else it'll fester... and there's no healing, once you've gotten to that point.
I think of, like... The Body, the one Buffy episode that absolutely guts everyone when they watch it. Like, that's such a specific situation being portrayed... it's not even supernatural, like the rest of the show, just a deeply personal experience of someone dying, and the people around them processing it. But holy shit, does it hit, and continue to hit all these years later. It's raw emotion, it's... it's real in the very worst way. Confronting that grief head-on does something to you.
I want to do the same with my writing... I think? I don't want anyone to suffer because I've dredged up pain for them, but sometimes... pain can help? I don't know. I don't know.
Sorry, I'm a little scattered tonight. There's... a lot going on. Things are... rough for my family, and I've kind of got that grief brainrot right now lol.
But your Patterson pep talk is exactly what I need, V-Anon! Thank you thank you, I cried a little reading that.... ashhjsjkskskj you're just stroking my little sea polyp of an ego until it turns into a mermaid again, huh? (Not me referencing Buffy and The Little Mermaid in one reply, god help us all.)
So so glad you liked the Emily and Luke prompt! I'm currently working on a few more, so... we'll see how that comes along, hopefully soon. And I've made a taglist, for the first ever time! Also have no idea how that's going to go.
I love exploring the Patterson relationship dynamic so, so much. Emily is one of my favorite characters to write... unexpectedly, bc a large chunk of the fandom doesn't have much sympathy for her, for understandable reasons. I just... try to find the humanity of the situation, the grey areas of love and loss that make their tragedy all the more painful. I... guess it's working? Haha, who doesn't love a good foregone tragic conclusion.
And I'm not giving away anything about the Carrie fic yet! Just that I have big plans for it, whenever it actually gets finished! Not going to murder anyone without a lot of thought put into it in advance!
as for Goblin... ahshsjkjs, he's a fluffy little daschund puppy, so I kind of imagined something like this?? Only with a bit more color.

“Well...Cas helped.”
Three words. Three words, and all of a sudden the weight on Dean’s shoulders felt a hell of a lot lighter.
Which is ironic, since he’s dead. He shouldn’t have to carry that weight anymore.
But it’s because he’s dead that the weight was there.
Sacrifice. Sacrifice, sacrifice, sacrifice, over and over again. It seemed like you weren’t a true Winchester until you had sacrificed yourself. Maybe for the fate of the universe, maybe for someone you loved. And more often than not, sacrificing yourself for one of those would end up putting the other in peril. How many times had they sacrificed themselves for the world, only to put one of them in danger? And, similarly, how many times had they sacrificed themselves for someone they loved, only to screw up the world? It was like a roundabout circus they could never escape from.
Well. Until now, anyway.
So long as Sammy didn’t do anything stupid, that is.
And Cas... he had sacrificed himself for him. For someone he loves. And there’s no skirting around that now. Cas had said it outright. No more implications, no more hidden meanings... Cas loved him.
Even now, he can’t quite wrap his head around it. He hadn’t realized, because... well, because he didn’t think it was possible. Castiel was an angel. Sure, he was very different from the other angels, and over the years his time down on Earth along with Sam's and his influence had made him... well, more human. But he wasn’t human. He was an angel.
And angels aren’t supposed to feel. They aren’t supposed to have emotions. They weren’t supposed to love. And yet, Cas did. Cas had fallen in love. And not just with anyone, no-no, with him.
And yeah, he always knew Cas loved him, but he didn’t think he loved him. Okay, maybe that doesn’t make much sense, but it does to him.
And then, he had to live with that. To know Cas had died because of... no, that’s not right, for him Cas had let himself be taken, just so he could have a chance of getting out of there alive. A chance to take on Chuck. A chance to live.
And he was gonna try. No matter how much Cas's loss left a hole in his life. He was gonna carry on. He was gonna pull himself out of bed, he was gonna greet Miracle every morning with the cuddles she deserves (along with leftover scraps that Sam didn't approve of but couldn’t seem to find within himself to scold Dean for), he was gonna get himself a job, a real, boring civilian job, and he was gonna live.
That had been the plan, anyway. Hell, he had even somehow managed to get himself one of those jobs. Had signed his name on the dotted line and everything. He had been dreading telling Sam. He was sure he’d understand, but he just didn’t know the right way to tell him. Guess he doesn’t have to worry about that anymore.
‘But if we don’t keep livin’, then all that... sacrifice; it’ll be for nothing.’
And that’s why that weight had been there. Because he wanted Cas's sacrifice to mean something. To live, not just because Cas died for him to have the opportunity to, but because he wanted to. Because after all these years, of his whole life being written by the creator... they could finally live out their own story.
But he couldn’t stop himself. Another hunt, just like any other. Hell, he had gone into it thinking it might be his last hunt; if he finally gathered enough courage, grew a pair, and told Sam about the offer he had accepted.
Course, it had been his last hunt. Free from Chuck, free to start their own story... and it had ended just as quick as it had begun. Sammy was free for his story to continue, but theirs was over, and it came in the form of a rusted nail in his back.
Cas had died for him. Cas was trapped in that God awful place, for him, and how does he repay Cas for that sacrifice? He goes and gets himself killed not two weeks later.
But now? Now, he doesn’t have to think about that. He doesn’t have to torture himself with the image of Cas stuck in eternal darkness, living out his regrets while he stays cozy in heaven with his family and a beer in hand. Coz Cas was out. Cas was in heaven, here, somewhere.
He can see him again.
Bobby raises his brows at him, a brief knowing look before he turns away to chug down a gulp of completely average beer.
Dean lets himself smile.
“So, I guess the question is: what are you gonna do now, Dean?”
A perfectly placed stream of sunlight glints off the Impala’s sleek black metal top; not a scratch on her. He knows it's not really the Impala – the old license plate is proof of that. But it’s still his baby. Besides, he’s sure Sammy’s taking good care of the real girl down there. And he trusts that Sammy will pass her on to the right person when the times right.
That’s unless he wants to leave her to rust by herself in some random garage and risk Dean forcing himself out of heaven as a vengeful spirit to rip his little brother a new one.
Baby purrs just like she used to when Dean switches on the ignition. That deep rumble that emits from the engine, shakes her chassis and even now brings a smile to his face. That smile only grows when, out of curiously, he switches on the heat. He doesn’t need it of course - it’s a comfortably warm day - but the sound of the Legos rattling away in her vents is all he needed to hear. And when he cranes his neck around into the back seats, spotting the off-green army men figures crammed into the ashtray, he knows he’s going to have to wrap Jack up in a big old bear hug if ever shows his face around here.
Heaven wasn’t heaven because it was perfect. Neither was the Impala - her blemishes were what made her perfect in his eyes. His first beer with his dad wasn’t perfect because it was a masterpiece of brewing. Quite frankly it tasted like piss, but it was perfect because it was the first time he felt like his dad saw him as equal. As a man. A moment between father and son.
Those blemishes made heaven feel... real. More human. More like... the life you always wanted to live.
Maybe that’s why Jack had done it. Because Jack had experienced what it’s like to be one of them, to exist alongside humanity. He has rebuilt Heaven the way he thought humans deserved to have it.
And he made sure Cas was there to help, too.
Dean finally shuts off her ignition after pulling into a field off the side of the road. He pulls Baby into a small dirt side road that overlooked the growing crops, just taking a moment to watch the long green strands blowing peacefully in the gentle wind. The sun was still high in the sky, glinting off every shiny blade of grass nestled within the crops. The sky was that deep kind of blue where you could almost mistake it for the ocean. He wonders if Cas's eyes were Chuck's inspiration for the sky when he crafted it into existence.
“You gonna stay invisible back there the whole time Cas, or you gonna show yourself?”
Dean sees a flash of a tan trench-coat reflected in the rear-view mirror, blinking into existence with a rustle of wings that he’s not heard of in quite some time.
“Hello, Dean.”
Dean lets himself smile again.
Dean doesn’t say anything at first. He swings the driver’s door open, stepping out and closing it gently behind him. When he gets to Baby’s trunk, the sight - or lack thereof - of no weapons is jarring. Instead, there's a cooler staring back at him. Perfect. He pulls two beers out from the cooler, holding both by the neck between his fingers as he closes the trunk with his free hand. He can still make out Cas's form sat in the back seat of the Impala as he walks back around her, hopping up on her hood and settling down.
The caps twist off easily, and they blink out of existence a few seconds after he chucks them down into the dirt. No littering in heaven, he supposed. He keeps one in his hand, the other he leaves resting next to him on the hood, a few beads of condensation slipping down the glass as the sun beats down on it. Dean takes a swig of his own beer, satisfied in the knowledge that drunk driving isn’t a thing he has to even consider anymore.
It only takes a few more seconds before he hears the squeak of one of Baby’s door being opened. Only a few more after that until the hood dips down with an additional weight, the comforting presence of someone next to him. Dean keeps his gaze to the view in front of him as he picks the bottle next to him up, holding it out to the side. He feels the bottle slide out of his hands.
He takes another sip.
“How did you know I was there?” Cas is the first to break the silence. He’s not looking at Dean either just yet. Like Dean, his eyes are fixed on the field.
“I didn’t,” Dean’s honest with him. “Took a shot.”
Cas huffs out a laugh. It brings another smile to Dean’s face. They seemed to come easy here.
“What would you have done if I wasn’t there?” Cas asks, amusement clear in his voice.
Dean chuckles around the lip of the beer bottle. “Looked like an idiot talking to myself in Baby, I guess.”
Dean risks a glance over to Cas. He looks...well, like Cas. There’s a certain sense of peace to him now, though. He doesn’t look like he had been suffering in the Empty until Jack got him out. In fact, there’s a gentle smile on his face as he peers out into heaven.
“So, uh... I hear Jack fished you out of... y'know...”
“He did,” Cas confirms in a rumble. “The Empty wasn’t all too fond of letting me go, at first. But Jack argued that the work we could do together would help make things a lot quieter around... well, everywhere. The Empty likes the quiet.”
Dean nodded slowly; his head held low. “Cas, listen man... I hope you know I agonized over finding a way to get you out. I did. But all I could think about was how it would be another risk, y'know? Another entity to piss off, and... Christ, after... after what you did? Knowing you died for me? I didn’t wanna throw my life away and just... spit in the face of your sacrifice.”
Cas turns to him now, a frown etched across his features. “I never expected you to, Dean. I never wanted you to. I was the one who summoned the Empty, after all. I had accepted what had to be done. I was ready.”
“Yeah, well… doesn’t mean you deserved to go out that way, Cas,” Dean said miserably. “You deserved better than that.”
“And I got better,” Castiel assured him. “I… I wanted to return to you, first. But Jack needed my help, and when he told me his plan… I knew I would be of better use up here. Turning Heaven into a place you deserved to rest for eternity. The least of what you and your brother deserve.”
“You should be proud of yourself, Cas,” Dean tells him, the statement seemingly having taken Cas aback. “I’m proud of you. After everything you did, all that you’ve suffered… the second Jack yanks you out of that Hell, you come straight up here and get to work. For me, for Sam, for humanity… you deserve more, Cas. Hell, you deserve a damn break…”
Cas smiles softly down at the drink in his hand. “I’m not too sure what a break would even entail for me…”
“There a beach hidden somewhere in this place?” Dean asks, half-joking and half being dead serious. “Maybe we can finally go on that beach vacation, eh? Me, you and Sammy, swim trunks, sea, sun, and sand… or speedos – I don’t judge. Maybe we can even convince the kid to come down for it when Sammy gets up here?”
Cas’s smile grows even softer- if that’s even possible. “I think Jack might be busy for a while,” Castiel confesses. “But he’ll still be there, in a way-,”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” Dean cuts Castiel off with a roll of his eyes. “Coz he’s everywhere, right?”
“Well, he is.”
Dean grunts. “Yeah? Does that mean he was in the huge-ass nail that went through my back?”
The smile on Cas’s face waivers, eventually dropping from his face completely as the seconds tick by in silence. “That wasn’t the end I envisioned for you, Dean. You… you deserved to live the life you worked hard to secure.”
“Wasn’t the end I envisioned either, Cas. But it’s a risk me and Sammy took with every hunt we went on. I thought it’d be more… dramatic, you know? Maybe a little quicker. Shot to the head, knife to the throat, something like that… Man, I gotta tell ya’, dying slow? It sucks. Sure, gives you time to say what you want to say, but…” Dean’s voice catches, dropping his head down to his lap, picking absentmindedly at the corner of the golden label wrapped around his bottle. “I was scared, Cas. Couldn’t help it. I could feel it, feel it impaled in my heart, and… there’s something terrifying about knowing it’s comin’, but you can’t do anything about it. I just… I didn’t want to die alone, y’know? Sammy at least saved me from that…”
“Jack had to use his powers to restrain me.”
Dean’s head shoots up, whipping around to face Cas. He looked as tortured as his voice sounded. “Were you aware you were praying to me, Dean? Even… even though you thought I was dead, in that moment you were dying, you prayed to me… I could feel your panic. Your fear. Hear you calling out to me, your last desperate attempt… and I was going to go to you, without a second thought. I couldn’t stand to feel your pain like that, Dean.”
“I, uh… yeah, I know I prayed to you…” Dean found he couldn’t stand Cas’s gaze boring into him anymore, letting his gaze drop down to the ground. “Jack really stopped you?”
“He didn’t want to. He didn’t want this any more than me. But we both agreed that life should return back to the natural order of things. No more second chances, no more crossroad deals… The reapers are already having a tough time trying to readjust to all the changes that have happened recently, especially with how many The Empty disposed of when she was trying to get Billie’s attention… This way, Jack hopes that the Earth will become… more peaceful. Thankfully, Rowena has agreed to the terms in Hell. Crossroad deals are no more. The only souls headed to Hell are those that have been rightfully damned. And those that have lived a good life… they come up here.
“It made sense, at the time. I thought… well, I assumed we would have some time to rebuild Heaven more thoroughly, get everything done we wanted to achieve before you and your brother made your way up here. I had hoped for a good few decades at least… Then two Earth weeks later… I feel you dying.”
“Sorry for ruining your plans,” Dean delivers the line as deadpan as he possibly can. It gets a weird mix of a sigh and dry chuckle from Cas, so he guesses it’s mostly mission accomplished. “Seriously though, man? All this? This is a hell of an accomplishment in the time you and Jack had.”
“Thank you,” Cas said sincerely. “I’m just… I know it’s going to be hard for you, Dean. Waiting for Sam. Jack and I, we had… we had hoped you’d go together, peacefully, in your sleep.”
“I’ll be okay. Like Bobby said, he’ll be along eventually, right? I don’t want him up here too quick, y’know? He deserves that long, happy, human life. White picket fence and all that crap. But… shit, I know I ask too much of you already Cas, but… do you think you could just… check up on him every now and then? Make sure he’s doin’ alright… let him know I’m alright. If that ain't breaking Jack’s rules, of course…”
The corner of Cas’s lips twitched up just the slightest. “I think the rules can be… bent, for such an occasion.”
“Still the rebellious angel at heart, huh Cas?” Dean asked him with a grin.
“I have you to blame for that.”
“Thank. The word you’re looking for there is ‘Thank’, Cas. You have me to thank for that.”
“That I do, Dean Winchester. That I do.”
The silence they found themselves in was comfortable. Familiar. The beer in Dean’s hand was getting warmer, and while he knew he could cool it down again simply with a thought, he finds he rather prefers it this way.
“I can check on him now if you want,” Castiel offers after a few minutes had passed.
“What, like, now? You’re just gonna fly down there?”
Cas shook his head. “I don’t need to. I can see him, from here, if I were to properly look.”
Something in Dean’s gut twisted uncomfortably. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to know of Sam’s state, knowing full well how much his brother would be grieving after his death.
“It’s a little soon, don’t you think? I… I don’t know if I could face seeing Sammy like that…”
“I think a part of Sam will always be grieving you, Dean. Whilst it true that time heals all wounds, those scars will still remain. But I think after these few years since, he’ll already be in a better place.”
“Whoa, wait, a few years?” Dean sputtered, nearly choking on the mouthful of beer in his mouth (even though he’s about ninety-nine percent sure he can’t choke in Heaven). “I haven’t been up here that long.”
“Time moves differently here, Dean. What feels like a few hours here translates to years passing back down on Earth.”
“Oh…” Dean is just about able to get out. He supposed the silver lining in that was that it really wouldn’t be long until he got to see Sammy again. “Uh, then, yeah. Sure, Cas - if you don’t mind doing that for me.”
“It’s the least I can do,” Castiel tells him moments before a wave of blankness washes across his face, eyes going dead in that ‘looking but not seeing’ way. Well, Dean knew he was looking in more ways than just looking.
When Cas seems to snap back into his own body, Dean is surprised to see the sheen of tears that appeared in his eyes and the quick, shocked little gasp he let out. Fear twisted inside Dean like a knife in his gut, waiting in tense anticipation for Cas to say something.
“Cas? Cas, what – Is Sammy okay?”
“He’s okay,” Cas is quick to assure him, and Dean feels the tension practically melt away from his body. “He’s more than okay, in fact.”
“Oh yeah? Kid finally scrap enough of his brains together and get his law degree?”
“I just watched Sam and Eileen welcome their son into the world.”
Dean’s heart freezes in his chest at the words. Tears spring into his eyes faster than he ever thought possible, the watery smile Cas was giving him only forcing the tears out faster.
“You serious? He – I’m an uncle?”
“You are,” Castiel’s confirmation make’s the realization sink in just a little more. “And as he cradled his son in his arms, I heard the name ‘Dean’ slip from his lips. Eileen was more than happy with the name.”
“Wow… what a cheesy dumbass,” Dean resolutely ignores the tear that escapes and slips down his face. “He’s gonna be a great Dad.”
“He will be.” Castiel agreed. “And I’m sure Sam will have many stories of Dean Jr. to share once he joins you here.”
“I’d say I can’t wait, but… you know what? I can. I can wait.” Castiel shoots him an inquisitive look. Dean grins brightly at him, bumping his shoulder into Cas’s. “I got my angel to keep me company. Sure, heaven ain't complete until I got Sammy, but Heaven wouldn’t be Heaven without you by my side, Cas.”
Castiel looks genuinely shocked by this statement, and it makes Dean’s heartache just a little. Damn… he really didn’t know, did he? But… but that didn’t make much sense… If he had heard the prayer, then…
“Cas… how much of my prayer did you hear?”
“I…” Cas paused, looking almost pained as he concentrated. “I… I suppose towards the end when Jack was restraining me, and when I… well, I suppose it’s possible I could no longer hear you through my… screams…”
“Your screams?” Dean blanched. “Was Jack hurting you?”
“No,” Cas spoke quietly, shaking his head. “It wasn’t a physical pain, Dean…”
The realization makes Dean pale. “Oh… Jesus, Cas… I’m sorry for making you go through that… I know from experience it ain't fun watching someone you love die.”
Castiel freezes immediately. Dean isn’t even looking at Cas straight on, yet he can still sense Cas’s frame tensing up out of the corner of his eye. If he were more of an asshole, he’d probably laugh. Except, the conversation they’re about to have probably won’t be funny.
Probably…
“This would be a hell of a lot easier if you had heard my prayer… but then again, the point of it was that I regretted not being able to tell you in person.”
“I… I don’t understand?” Castiel is watching him warily, tiptoeing around him like prey that was about to spook. Dean understood why. He knows it’s easier to never put your hopes up, coz then that way it doesn’t hurt quite as much when they’re dashed quite so cruelly.
“When I was hanging on that nail… saying my goodbyes to Sammy, I was… I was fading damn quick, Cas. I suppose having a piece of metal shoved through your spine messes you up pretty bad, so… For a moment, I forgot… I forgot you were gone. I was looking around for you, man. I was trying to find you, coz… I never got to say goodbye. You got your goodbye, you know? You said a hell of a lot more than just goodbye, and… you deserved to hear so much more from me, more than just a goodbye, and I couldn’t even give you that.”
“Dean, it’s okay-,”
“No, Cas, it’s not,” Dean said firmly. “I couldn’t even think, let alone speak. It all felt… out of nowhere, y’know? I thought that that would be it, Billie would take both of us and that was our end, together. And then you… you were saying all this stuff about me, this… well, they were things I refused to believe about myself, until you made them some of your last words and then… it felt disrespectful to disagree after that…”
Cas ducks his head down with a breathy chuckle that surprises them both. Okay, maybe this conversation would be kinda funny.
“I wasn’t sure if you would take them to heart after,” Cas tells him. “I knew all I could do was… make sure you knew the way I saw you. Of the good man you truly are.”
“Even in your last moments… you were looking out for me,” Dean smiles weakly at Cas. “Guess mom was right, huh? I did have an angel watching over me.”
“Chuck had written our destinies. You were the righteous man, intended to bring about paradise on Earth under Michael’s command… And I was the angel intended to rescue you from Hell. To make sure you were ready for your fate.”
“And then I introduced you to free will and all Hell broke loose, huh?”
Cas hides his smile behind the bottle he brings to his lips. “Well, Chuck never intended for me to fall in love you with, that’s for sure. It was the only thing I truly knew was real…”
Dean bobs his head up and down as Cas’s words wash over him. He pauses, brows furrowing as he thinks back…
And then it hits him.
“We are…” Dean mumbles quietly under his breath. Cas glances over to him, cocking his head as he waits for Dean to elaborate.
“We’re… what?”
“We are… That’s what you said, wasn’t it? I asked what about our lives was real, and you said, ‘we are.’ Oh my God, you meant-,” Dean groans sharply, just barely resisting the urge to throw his head back against the windshield.
And then he laughs.
It wasn’t just a short, quick chuckle either. No, we’re talking full-on maniac laughing here. It starts off small and innocent enough, and then before he knows it he’s hunched over himself, an arm slung around his stomach and wheezing so hard he might just pass out from lack of oxygen. Cas at least had the decency to look concerned for his mental wellbeing for the first few seconds, shooting Dean a rather alarmed look as his laughter got louder and louder. Said laughter proved to be contagious however, and even through his mass confusion, Castiel found himself breaking out into deep rumbles of laughter, a peaceful warm lighted in his chest at the sound of Dean’s carefree laughter.
“How many signs did I miss?” Dean chokes out through his laughter. “How many years, Cas? How many ways did you find a way to tell me, to show me… and it wasn’t until you looked me dead in the eyes and said the words that I realized! Are we idiots? Are we both just dumbasses?”
This sets Cas off into a few more fits of laugher alongside him, beers long abandoned to avoid a classic spit take, resting haphazardly atop Baby’s hood between then.
“I thought the direct approach would be better this time. You know, with me dying and all.”
That’s not at all funny, but Dean doesn’t feel too bad about his ugly snorts when Cas was laughing about his own death, too.
“Christ, Cas… I love you so damn much, it’s not even funny.”
And apparently it wasn’t funny, because Cas stopped laughing pretty damn quick once he said that. His gaze was fixated on Dean’s still smiling face, eyes as wide as dinner plates as they scanned meticulously across Dean’s face, looking for any sign he was joking.
“You do?”
“Course I do, Cas. Only someone as stupid as me could fall in love with the one best friend in my life, and then be so terrified of messing up our friendship that I just… pretended those feelings weren’t there. Turn that love into a family type of love, coz… that was the kind of love I knew how to handle. But how could I not fall for you, Cas? I mean… it’s you.”
“You love… me? Me?”
“Yeah, Cas. You. I love you. I love the way you’re always trying to do the right thing. I love how you were willing to turn your back on your family, to help a couple of idiot brothers save humanity. I love how you became a part of our family. How much you loved the kid, and how you helped me to love him, too. I love how selfless you are, how much you give yourself to us, to me, even when you’ve gone through hell. I love how no matter what I did, you always came back home to me, even when I sure as hell didn’t deserve it. I love how you sneak glances at me when you think I’m not looking… or when you stare unabashedly into my eyes for much longer than is socially acceptable… I love you, you dorky, socially awkward, trench-coat clad angel. Because you’re you.”
Castiel stares blankly at him.
“You love me?”
Now it was Dean’s turn to be worried for Cas’s mental state. “Uh, you need a minute there, Cas? Listen, man - I get it. It takes some time to process something like this. Except, in my case, I kinda had to deal with the fact that you were dead on top of that, too. Well, I suppose I’m dead now too technically, but it’s not like I’m going to die again up here, so-,”
Castiel throws himself at Dean so fast that it sends the bottles of beer between them flying off the hood. Dean’s gasp of surprise is muffled by Cas’s mouth on his, brain short-circuiting as he very suddenly has a lap full of angel. Dean’s eyes flutter shut as he gives in to the addicting feel of Cas’s lips, sliding his fingers through Cas’s short strands of dark hair and giving it small sharp tugs that have Cas gasping into his mouth.
“Why-,” Cas pants into the space between them. “Did you wait until after you were dead to tell me this?”
Dean chuckles warmly, leaning forward and resting his forehead against Cas’s. “Technically I told you as I was dying. Same as you, so… kind of a hypocrite there, Cas.”
Cas huffs so hard that Dean can feel the exhaled puff of air wash across his face. Dean leans his head backward, another joke on the tip of his tongue when he freezes, mouth dropping open at the sight in front of him.
Wings. Huge, incredible, full wings.
“Cas… your wings,” Dean exclaims in disbelief, barely able to hold back from reaching out and giving the feathers a stroke.
They were… well, Dean doesn’t want to sound like a girl here, but ‘beautiful’ was the only word that came to mind. Sure, he’d seen the shadows of his wings back when they had first met, but it paled in comparison to truly seeing them. The feathers were a deep, ebony black, so dark it seemed like no light was being absorbed by them; the only exception being the sheen of bright colors reflecting off each individual feather, coming together to form a rainbow of colors that shone brightly as Heaven’s sunlight glinted off of them. It reminded Dean of… an oil spill. Those beautiful colors only revealed when exposed to the light of the sun.
“Hmm? Oh-,” Castiel glances back at the two massive appendages sprouting from his back, looking annoyed of all things at the sight of them. “Apologies, I only usually switch them over to this plane of existence when exerting my power… I think that, um… our interaction may have coaxed them out.”
“You saying this is the equivalent of an angel boner, Cas?” Dean jokes, getting an unimpressed look from Cas in response. “How’d you get them back? I thought you’d lost your wings?”
“Damaged, not lost.” Cas corrected him. “They were… they were in tatters after the fall. As were all the other angels cast down during the fall… It was the one gift Jack was able to bestow upon me once we had returned to heaven.”
“Aren’t my eyes supposed to be burning out of my sockets right now?” Dean asked cautiously, almost waiting for that exact thing to happen.
“No. Not now you’re in Heaven.”
“That’s good, coz… Holy crap, Cas – they’re gorgeous.” Dean asserted, torn between taking in every detail of Cas’s wings he can, or drinking in the bright red flush that spread across Cas’s face.
Cas shuffled back over to his side of the hood, and Dean found he immediately missed the warmth of Cas wrapped around him. “I’ve never been complimented on my wings before…”
“Never?” Dean found that hard to believe.
“Black wings are seen as an… omen. Most angels steered clear of me in Heaven, those under my command had to give me respect because of my position, but… they never truly respected me. It was mere formality than anything… And the, um… the sheen was found to be very distracting to others during flight.”
“Listen Cas, I know they’re your family and all, but they’re dumbasses. It’s their loss. Plain ol’ white fluffy wings are boring anyway. These? These are sleek, gorgeous… Just like Baby’s color,” Dean threw a wink in Cas’s direction, giving Baby a pat underneath them. “Black’s a good color on you, Cas. Don’t let them asshats tell you otherwise.”
“Thank you…” Castiel mumbled quietly, finding it quite hard to meet Dean’s gaze. “I never really took much notice of the other angel’s opinions, anyway… Yours is the only one I care about.”
“Don’t speak too soon, Cas. I’m gonna be gushing over your wings for eternity, so you might get sick of me pretty quick.”
Cas smiled tenderly. “Not possible.”
“You better be prepared for Sammy to nerd out over your wings, though. He’s gonna be asking you all about how they work.” Dean warmed him.
“I imagine Sam will have a lot of questions once he’s here.”
“Yeah, well – don’t be afraid to kick the kid out of our house when he gets a little too… y’know, Sam. We’ll let him mope with Eileen for a bit at the roadhouse until he remembers boundaries again.”
Cas went quiet for a bit, thinking over what he had just heard. “…Our house?”
Dean frowned at him, but there was an amused smile on his face, too. “Yeah, our house. You think I’m gonna mope around that place all by myself?”
“I… I assumed with Sam just down the road-,”
“Yeah, exactly, Sammy’s down the road. You can bet your ass I’m gonna be annoying the kid every day with unnecessary visits, but I still need my angel by my side.”
“Dean, I… I still have work to do, responsibilities to Heaven…”
“I get that, Cas. I do.” Dean assured him gently. “But that doesn’t mean you can’t come home at the end of every day, huh? Just like normal people do. Maybe take the weekends off, lazy Sundays with pancakes in bed?”
“…Heaven doesn’t have weekends. Or weekdays. Or days, really.”
“I’m trying to be cute here, Cas.”
“Oh…” Cas mumbled. “It’s… working?”
“C’mon, big picture here, Cas. We’ll do all the normal people stuff we missed out on. Maybe… God, it’s so cheesy, but uh… Date night, y’know? Watch some old movies together while we share a bowl of popcorn, I can whip up some of my world-famous burgers… maybe bake a pie?”
Cas’s smile grew warmer and warmer the more Dean spoke, ducking his head as Dean’s tone became more and more hopeful. “That… sounds nice.”
“And then… who knows where we go from there. But it’ll be our decision. Our story. And, y’know, maybe one day… maybe one day we’ll go door to door, Mom, and Dad, Bobby and Rufus, Ellen and Jo, and Ash, and Pamela, Charlie, and Kevin… and everyone else once they get here; Sammy and Eileen, Jody, Donna, Claire, Alex and Kaia, and then…”
“And then what?” Castiel inquires.
“And then they’ll see us finally get our shit together,” Dean answered with a grin. “And we’ll wave to them every morning with golden bands on our fingers.”
“…and you’re sure you want that with me?”
“When I said I need you? It’s because I need you. When I told you I loved you? It’s because I love you. So yeah, Cas. I wanna spend eternity with you.”
Castiel’s answering smile was as bright as the sun above them. “I’d like that, Dean Winchester.”
“Then I look forward to eternity with you, Castiel Winchester,” Dean places his hand over Cas’s, intertwining their fingers and giving it a tender squeeze. “Now come on - Sammy’s gonna be pissed if I’m not there for his welcoming party.”

I kind of want J&M to meet another Eye Avatar. The only other Eye Avatar On's met has been Elias, and he is vastly different due to his Failed Ritual powers. Would they be as untethered in the Apocalypse as Jon? Or would they have domains they're unable to leave? That would be interesting, considering the Eye oversees everything, everything is performed for its hunger and is its domain. Maybe, if other Eye Avatars are in domains, that would support your "This was the Web's Ritual" theory
-------
I NEED TO SEE OTHER EYE AVATARS.
Look, I think it’s no coincidence that Jon didn’t find many Eye statements. He had to actively force himself to pick up files that seemed to supernaturally slide out his attention.
Now that sounds very Web like to me, but pre my Web theories and just doodlebop listening around I wondered if the Eye had a consciousness and there was a reason it didn’t like to focus on Eye statements.
I thought it was because refeeding on Beholding trauma might be like eating leftovers, yeah it’ll do but if you’ve got a nice fresh meal it’s not as appetizing.
For laughs I’d tell myself the Eye wouldn’t direct Jon’s attention to Eye statements because it wanted Jon to like it.
Post realizing what the Web was, it seemed to me like the Web was intentionally avoiding allowing Jon to realize just how monstrous the Eye was. Out of all the Powers, the Eye has the second most “justifiable” entry level. You’re just looking. You’re just trying to find out the truth! How could you really be hurting anyone?
(The other Entity that traps people that was the Hunt, the justification there being “I’m making the world better! I’m killing monsters!” which then turns into “I’m killing the bad guys!” which then turns into “I’m killing people”)
We didn’t see any other Eye avatars. We saw the one woman in Beijing, but not if she even was an avatar. We heard about the Beijing and Washington organizations, but we never followed Jon inside.
Could it be that whatever is fueling the tape recorders considers that “boring”? It’s something the Eye already knows. But then again, the Eye knew lots about the Magnus Institute and the tape recorders still popped up when Jon interacted with those assistants.
Anyways going back to your point anon, the fact we haven’t seen ANY Eye Avatars in the real world means we won’t be able to do a full compare and contrast if we ever see them now.
And, do we know for a fact the Avatars are tied to their domains? Or do they just not have a particularly strong reason to leave? This is all pretty new, it makes sense they’d like to stay put and play around rather than wander over to the neighbors for a chat. Do they even want to see other Avatars or domains?
Ironically enough, Jude Perry was the most friendly of the Avatars to other alignments. She was friends with Nikola and Mike Crew.
Elias was a business partner with the Lonely and the Vast, and the Lonely and the Vast would often times have joint partnerships. But Jude was the only one who hung out with other Avatars, that we saw. She was straight chilling with Nikola when that poor plumber came back a second time. I bet that ease of networking helped her a great deal when she was a business woman.
Anyways ANYWAYS, all of this is to say:
-We have a history of something steering Jon away from Eye related statements
-We haven’t come across a single Eye domain, but we’ve passed multiple Corruption ones, and a few domains with tinges of Fleshliness
-Actually, we’ve hit EVERY single Entity, even the Extinction. Oh my god, I hadn’t realized until now.
-The ONLY one missing is the Eye
- We have 18 eps left.
-Jon stated he and Martin were traveling towards “his” domain, gesturing towards the Panopticon.
-We saw Martin almost get stuck in the Lonely domain.
-I doubt they’re going to have us go into an Eye domain, if only for the worry of Jon getting stuck. But it wouldn’t be “his” anyways.
-(Elias Jon is coming for your tower)
-Actually...with Elias in a blind spot, how do we even know he’s in the Panopticon?
-He could be trapped below it, in the twisted ruins of the Institute, in a blind spot possibly of his or the Web’s making
-LEAVING THE THRONE AT THE PANOPTICON EMPTY BUT FOR HIS SIGHTLESS HUSK
-JON DON’T SIT ON THAT. DO NOT PUSH JONAH MAGNUS’S CORPSE THE GROUND AND SIT ON IT, YOUR BOOT HEELS UPON HIS SIGHTLESS SKULL.
TL;DR: I think we’re going to be thwarted from more Eye domains to focus on the interpersonal drama at the Panopticon. OR I’m incredibly wrong and a majority of the domains going forward will be Eye domains...hmmmm....ok I’m hedging my bets and saying:
1. We will get a New Eye Domain, and it will be the only other spoken role. Either that means the woman from Beijing, or Basira.
2. We still need to deal with Helen, the Web, Basira, Georgie & Melanie, and the Panopticon. We will deal with all of the others, THEN we get to the Panopticon, THEN surprise surprise the last episode is a Web episode that explains the whole plot/trap and crushes our hearts
No I’m not hyperfixating because my boss is on vacation and gave me no work, why do you ask?

Tumblr media
“Are you sure this is a good idea?”
“Best cure of all.”
You grimaced at the sight of Dean’s infamous hangover cure he swore was the key to getting over the consequences of drinking from the previous night before. You and the boys had given Kevin a chance to cut loose and enjoy himself away from his responsibilities in hopes it might help make the kid feel more refreshed. Only it seemed the opposite reaction happened. Kevin complained of a headache that wouldn’t go away and feeling nauseous to the point he feared he might throw up. You didn’t think he would have taken it so hard, and he was such a lightweight. Luckily through the complaints of an upset stomach and how the room spinned he managed to keep down the food you offered him.
Dean suggested an infamous Winchester speciality that might be able to kick this hangover in its ass, his own words. You watched in disturbance as Kevin drank two glasses of the stuff. The sight made you flashback to your younger pre-hunting days where you were a lightweight compared to the way a Winchester could handle their alcohol. Dean always could drink you under the table, not that you tried to keep up with him when you drank with him. The next morning you suffered the consequences almost exactly like Kevin had. Dean swore the drink he created helped. You swallowed it down and a few minutes later you threw up everything you had drank from the night before, and anything else that hadn’t digested yet. You admitted the stuff made you feel better. But you wouldn’t touch that stuff ever again.
You told Kevin to keep resting up and sleep off the hangover for a little while longer. When you were sure the kid was going to be fine on his own, you and Dean made your way to the war room where Sam had been occupying for a little while. He sat at the table with his laptop open and doing a little bit of research, hopefully accomplishing something better than the fiasco you had endured just a few minutes ago.
“Wow.” Dean’s approaching voice made his brother turn his attention away from the screen for a moment to see the both of you appeared to be beside yourselves in what you just went through. Sam gave you a confused expression, wondering what the problem was. “Kevin. Just poured some buffalo milk down his gob twice.”
“Buffalo milk?” Sam repeated what his brother just said, not exactly sure if he wanted to know where the man managed to get his hands on the suff. You sat on the edge of the table as Dean placed his hands on the back of an empty rolling chair next to his brother and leaned his body forward.
“Yeah, Dean’s infamous hangover cure-all. It’s apparently got everything in it. Except buffalo milk. God, the smell of it alone brought me back to my early twenties.” You mumbled, your nose scrunching up at the past memories you wished stayed buried. “Hopefully it’ll help Kevin from puking anymore of his guts out.”
“How is that kid still recovering from Branson?” Sam had seen his fair share of lightweights in his time, but there might have been nobody who couldn’t tolerate alcohol the way Kevin showed he wasn’t able to. You shrugged your shoulders from the lack of answers. The poor kid was a lost cause. You figured he would have taken the first chance he got to crawl into a bottle in some kind of attempt to bury the trauma that came from the chaos that ensued.
“What can I say? He’s an amateur.” Dean said. You scoffed as your reaction, feeling that was an understatement from the way you left the poor kid. “The slippery nipple shots at the Dolly Parton Dixie Stampede nearly killed the guy.”
“All right. Well, I got something that’s gonna get us back on the road.” Sam offered a change of subject to something he thought his brother might be interested in hearing. The older man took a seat next to him as you leaned over to take a quick peek at the screen, wondering what kind of case it was.
“Great.” You said. “I’ve been itching to stretch my legs and get out there again.”
Dean turned his head to your direction when you voiced your happiness of tagging along. The man was hesitant about letting you back out there after the favor Ezekial had done for him, and the warning of the consequences of furthering his stay. “You sure you’re ready for that?”
You furrowed your brow from his question, “Why would I not be ready for that?”
“Aren’t you kind of running on empty?” Dean asked in concern.
“Yeah, but the last three nights straight, I had eight hours of shut-eye. And for a hunter, that’s like twenty.” You tried to talk the man into letting you do your damn job without restrictions. You looked over at Sam to see the young man was hesitant himself about giving you the chance to tag along on a hunt. You rolled your eyes from the way they were acting. “Trust me, guys. I feel good.”
“Well, that’s great and all, but you’re still recovering from the trials. I think you ought to pace yourself, you know? And the sooner you heal…” Dean reminded you of a little fact he thought slipped your mind. You crossed your arms over your chest at the flimsy excuse he thought was going to work on you. When he trailed off and fell silent for a moment, you raised your brow in curiosity as to what he was going to say next. “Sam and I just want you back to your old self.”
“I am, guys. I know my body better than anyone else. Not to mention the fact that Kevin’s back on the heaven spell. Crowley’s locked up. We should be out there doing what we do best.” You said. The boys thought otherwise from their unspoken actions that said more than they were willing to admit. You rolled your eyes in annoyance as Dean leaned back in his seat and kicked up one of his legs to the table. The man tried to get a word into the argument, but you stopped him before he could. “Sammy, what’s this case you got for us?”
“Uh, a taxidermist named Max Alexander mysteriously crushed to death. Nearly every joint in his body dislocated, every bone broken.” Sam read off the gory details that caught his attention in the first place. “Poor guy is a human pretzel.”
“Tell me, Dean, what’s got that kind of strength?” You asked him, curious to see what his response was going to be since he had so much to say just a minute ago.
“A demonic luchador?” Dean made little effort into trying to make an education assumption to what might be the cause behind the out of ordinary death.
“Shop’s a couple hours away in Enid, Oklahoma.” Sam said. “We should at least check it out.”
“Unless the boss man thinks there’s some reason we shouldn’t.” You directed your gaze back over to the older Winchester to hear what he had to say. A smile crept to the edges of your lips from the way he fell silent. The response to his defeat. You slid off the table and back to your feet to get started on the packing that was ahead of you. Before you did, you wanted to make one thing clear. “Don’t forget the fact that I kicked your ass just the other day. And I’ll gladly do it again.”
You went on your way from stating the small fact you thought was enough proof to get you back on hunting without them worrying about your health. Dean let out a heavy sigh and ran a hand down his face from your ever growing stubborn behavior. “I swear, I don’t even know why I even bother with her.”
+ + +
You and the boys arrived in Oklahoma a few hours later, the first stop on your list was checking out the crime scene that was still crawling with cops. The first suspicious thing you noticed before even walking into the building was the threat painted on the front entrance of Max Alexander’s taxidermy business. “Die Scum” was written in all capital letters. Whoever painted the threat wanted to get their message across loud as possible. And someone made sure to keep to the painted words. You wondered if it was done by the same person. A few monsters liked to taunt their victims before going in for the thrill of the kill.
Sam noticed something in the letter M that was worth pointing out. You noticed it was an upside down triangle with what appeared to be a paw print. He snapped a quick picture with his phone for future research and headed inside with the rest of you. Taxidermy was something you didn’t give much of a second thought about. However when you stepped into Max’s business, you found yourself surrounded by endless animals of all sorts, all dead and stuffed for display. Animals’ heads mounted to the wall, birds frozen in mid flight, wild cats bearing their sharp fangs appearing as if they were ready to attack. There was some sort of strange craft to stuffing a dead animal and making it look realistic.
“Well, the creep factor just skyrocketed.” Dean mumbled, eyeing the dozens of dead animals surrounding him.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa.” A sheriff stopped the three of you, not sure who you were.
“How are you? I’m Special Agent Chaplin.” You introduced yourself to him, flashing your fake FBI badge to the man. “These are my partners Agent Michaels and DeVille.”
“The body’s already been to the morgue. Just wrapping it up with Dave Stephens. He’s the one who discovered the boy.” The sheriff explained. You looked over to see an older man leaning against the register, still distraught from the events he thought would have never happened in a million years. “Such a shame. I used to go hunting with Max. He was a real good egg.”
“Sorry for your loss.” Dean gave his condolences to the officer. “You mind showing my partner around? Agent Chaplin and I have a couple of questions for Mr. Stephens.”
The sheriff nodded his head and gestured for Sam to follow him into the next room where the murder took place. You and Dean approached the older man, figuring he might know a thing or two that might be helpful in discovering if this case might be worth your while.
“Dave Stephens?” You asked. You and Dean flashed your badges once again at the man, “My partner and I have got a couple of questions for you if that’s all right.”
“I’ll tell you whatever you need to know.” Dave responded without an ounce of hesitation. “Max was a real pal.”
“Hunting buddy?” You wondered. You smiled ever so slightly when you saw his expression immediately change into surprise from how you were able to answer correctly in one guess. You had a feeling it was a common hobby among the locals from the sight of this place. “So, about what time did you discover the body?”
“About nine A.M.—my usual pickup time.” Dave answered. “I come in every Wednesday and Sundays to collect the entrails.”
You furrowed your brow from the terminology. “The entrails?”
“The animal organs. After Max would dig them out and work his magic.” Dave said. “He was a real artist, you know?”
You discovered what kind of magic Max was able to do with the creatures he was given. You found your attention lingering away from the conversation for a moment when you spotted Sam exploring the man's collection. You quickly bit your bottom lip to keep a smile from spreading across your lips at the little creature he was holding that appeared to be dressed as a character from Game of Thrones. Sam amused himself from the expression that crossed his face. Dean found it nothing more than bizarre as to why a grown man would waste his time putting so much effort into such a thing.
“Strange thing is, though,” The both of you quickly turned your full attention back to Dave to hear what else he had to say, pretending as if you were distracted by something childish. “bins were empty this morning.”
“Why is that strange?” Dean asked.
“Well, because it’s a Sunday. Weekend hunts are pretty much a given in this neck of the woods, so they’re usually chock-full of guts.” Dave explained as to why it was out of the ordinary for him.
“Any chance Max could have cleaned them out himself?” You wondered.
“No. It’s a biohazard. You can’t just throw the stuff out.” Dave said. You were learning all sorts of things about animal organs today, more than you ever wanted in your entire life. “You gotta burn it.”
“Huh. The more you know.” You gave him a polite smile from his explanation you could have gone without. You looked over to the sheriff when he approached the three of you again. “Is there anything else missing from the shop?”
“No.” The sheriff said. “The register was full, and the safe was intact. And all of Max’s trophies were still on the walls.”
“And was there anybody else here when you showed up?” Dean asked.
“No one. No, other than the Colonel.” Dave chuckled and looked over his shoulder to Max’s pet. You felt a smile stretch across your lips at the sight of a German Shepard.
Sam finished up his search around the crime scene and headed back over to you and his brother. You smiled at the sheriff and Dave, excusing yourself and walking over to another part of the shop where there was nobody else around to have a private conversation of your own to discuss what you found. You had a feeling this was going to be a worthwhile case after all. Everything was adding up with unusual circumstances.
“Okay, so,” You stood with your back to the crime scene, catching up with the younger man about everything you were able to learn in the short time. “We’ve got a thief who’s jonesing for animal parts, we’ve got a pagan symbol, and we’ve got a human pretzel.”
“Yeah, it all sounds very witch-y, but I wasn’t able to find a hex bag.” Sam said, putting a hole in his own theory to what might be to blame for the taxidermist’s death.
“All right, well, let’s keep digging. But not here.” Dean suggested. He didn’t move right away. You noticed his eyes wandered up to a part of the shop that kept his attention. You followed his gaze to see the man was staring at a stuffed owl hanging up on a high shelf, its yellow eyes fixated on the huner in a way that made him uncomfortable. “I don’t like the way that one’s looking at me.”
You stifled a laugh from his paranoid behavior and softly nudged him in the arm to get moving. The three of you still needed to get settled into a motel and started on research to figure out what was the cause of Max Alexander’s death. You took one more curious glance at the owl before heading out the front door.
+ + +
“Okay, that symbol in the graffiti, it’s…not wiccan. It’s copywritten.” Sam worked right away on trying to figure out what the strange symbol you had seen back at the crime scene. The search took little effort into finding its source. You walked over to the man, dropping the shirt you pulled out from your bag you pulled out to change into and out of your fed clothes. He held out his laptop for Dean to take so the both of you could take a look at the homepage for yourselves. “Local animal rights group, Enid’s answer to PETA.”
“S.N.A.R.T.?” Dean read off the animal rights’ group and its terrible name they thought was a good idea. It stood for Showing No Animal Rough Treatment. You didn’t know if you should laugh or at least give them credit for trying to be original. “You gotta be kidding me.”
“Well, it makes sense that an animals-rights group would have an axe to grind with a taxidermist.” Sam said.
“Why?” Dean asked, not seeing the connection between the two. “The animals’ already dead.”
“Yeah, but hunters are what keep them in business.” You added on. “Now the question is, are those bleeding hearts actually witches or just hippies?”
Dean glanced up from the laptop screen and to you, proposing a question. “What’s the difference?”
+ + +
The difference between the two that one was capable of murder. You took doubt in the fact that a group of animal rights activists would go far as committing murder. But when you added the element of witchcraft that’s when the lines between right and wrong started to grow blurry. You and the boys decided to speak to a couple of the members after tracking them down to a vegan bakery called Gentle Earth. Business was booming with customers enjoying a plant-based meal inside and passing by a couple of women walking out with a cup of all organic and overly expensive coffee, ethically sourced you guessed.
“Always knew I’d find the source of all evil at a vegan bakery.” Dean muttered. The man felt out of his element from the people he was surrounded by.
Sam sniffed the air, finding an odor he couldn’t place his finger on. “What’s that smell?”
“Patchouli. Yeah, mixed with depression from meat deprivation.” Dean said. You rolled your eyes from the way he was acting in such an immature fashion. His strong beliefs were radical as those who thought eating animal products were cruel and unusual. The man drew your attention to the front counter when he spotted the owners waiting on a few customers. He was quick to point out a fashion accessory that was a bit odd from the setting that didn’t require them. “Hey. You know who wears sunglasses inside? Blind people. And douchebags.”
You let out a quiet sigh and shook your head from the way he was acting, heading up to the counter to have a discussion with the owners. “Olivia and Dylan Camrose?” You asked the couple. Olivia nodded and smiled. “You two are members of S.N.A.R.T, correct?”
“Founders and co-presidents, actually.” Olivia corrected you about the role they played in the activist group. She playfully bumped shoulders with her husband, both of them sharing matching smiles from the hard work they loved doing. Olivia reached out and grabbed a brochure that was kept near a display of their desserts, presuming all of you were curious for being part of a good cause. “Can we interest you in some literature?”
You politely shook your head. “Or a flaxseed scone?” Dylan asked. You looked down at the pastry that appeared to be tasty at first glance, until you heard the lack of ingredients that made it vegan. “It’s wheat-free, gluten-free, sugar-free, and surprisingly moist.”
“Let me stop you right there.” Dean was quick to end this conversation before he could get roped any further into this hippie lifestyle he wanted nothing to do with. He pulled out his badge to flash it at the couple and got to the reason why you were here in the first place. “We’re here to investigate the death of Max Alexander, a local taxidermist.”
Olivia placed the brochure to the counter, her body growing stiff at the unexpected news. “He’s…dead?”
“You knew him?” You asked.
“Ish. Um…” She glanced over to her husband before finishing her response. “small town.”
“Well, he was murdered last night, and a S.N.A.R.T. logo was found at the crime scene.” Sam informed the couple. All though their eyes were covered with a pair of dark shades, the man could see the couples’ body language change in a way that made him suspicious. “You two wouldn’t have to know anything about that, would you?”
The couple thought it would be best for everyone to move this conversation somewhere else. All of you moved to an empty table in the middle of the bakery to hear their side of the story and fill in the gaps of that night.
“His business is funded by hunters. And you know how hunters are.” Dylan immediately lost you from the point he was trying to make. He was more than happy to elaborate on his view of them. “They’re selfish dicks who define themselves by what they kill.”
You had to admit you were a little offended by their presumption, despite the type of hunters who they were talking about was the complete opposite of what you did. “And as animal advocates, we couldn’t stand for that.” Olivia added on.
“So, you killed him?” Sam questioned the couple.
“Of course not.” Olivia said. She was awfully quick to shoot down the accusation that was simply false. “S.N.A.R.T. doesn’t tolerate violence.”
“Huh. This is coming from a couple who spray-paints death threats.” Dean said, bringing up the red flag that seemed out of character for someone who advocated for the complete opposite for animals lives.
“It was a scare tactic.”Dylan defended himself. “We just wanted to spook him.”
“Turns out we were the ones who got spooked.” Olivia admitted. You wondered exactly what she meant by that, causing her to elaborate even further on her story. She passed a glance over at her husband, who nodded his head, feeling it was the right thing to do in order to set the record straight. “Well, last night, when we were tagging the joint, we heard this noise.”
“A hissing noise.” Dylan added.
“It freaked us out, so we ran into the alley.” Olivia continued on.
“But someone attacked us.”
“Sprayed us in the eyes with mace.”
“And it's not like we could go to the cops.”
“So, now we look like total douchebags because we have to wear our sunglasses inside.” Olivia gave the reason why the couple was forced to wear the dark shades indoors, making them feel exactly like what Dean had said earlier. You didn’t even bother looking over at the older man to see his smug smile at his judgement that turned out to be right.
The couple took off their sunglasses to show the damage that had been done to them from the surprise pepper spray attack. You winced at the scarring around their eyes that sure didn’t look like it was caused by something like pepper spray. It almost appeared to be acid burns from the extent of the physical damages. Dean subtly wagged his index finger, signaling for them to put the shades back on after finding the burns a little too uncomfortable to keep staring at.
+ + +
You did a little research of your own after you made it back to the motel and changed out of your fed clothes for some jeans and a shirt. Something about the burn like wounds the couple had gotten didn’t seem to add up. And you were right about your suspicions.
“Necrosis?” Dean read off the medical term you discovered, wondering what it meant.
“Premature death of tissues—that’s why their eyes were all messed up.” You said. “And it’s not caused by mace.”
“All right.” Dean twisted off the cap to his beer and tossed it to the sink. He leaned over your shoulder and placed a hand on the table to steady himself in doing so. He read off the medical information about black eyes from the page you pulled up. "What causes it?"
“Right here.” You placed a finger on the screen and began to read off something from the paragraph that might explain the reason behind the couples’ painful looking burns. “‘Blunt force, radiation, venom.’”
“As in ‘snake’?” Dean guessed from the sounds of it.
“The taxidermist was constricted. Olivia and Dylan heard hissing, and they were sprayed in the eyes. By venom. Sounds snake-y to me. I say if it does turn out to be that, we should skin it and turn it into a fabulous pair of boots.” You suggested. Dean chuckled at your joke, taking a seat from across from you at the table. “Bet S.N.A.R.T would love that.”
“Okay, so…what are we talking here,” Dean said, deciding to get serious for a moment to try and figure out what you might be hunting. “Some sort of freaky-ass snake monster?”
“Maybe.” You mumbled. You fell silent for a moment trying to figure out how all of this added up to make proper sense with what knowledge you had about the reptilians. “The weird thing is snakes either envenomate or constrict. No snake does both.”
“Correction,” Dean said. “freaky-ass mega-snake monster.”
You quietly chuckled to yourself before throwing out your best guess as to what it might be. “It could be a vetala.”
“Yeah, but they’re not afraid to sink their fangs in. Taxidermist was bite free. It doesn’t really fit the profile.” Dean reminded you about the small detail. You nodded your head. A sigh fell from your lips at the lack of leads you had at the moment. Dean came to your rescue of adding another pair of hands to the night of research ahead for you and Sam. “Call Kevin. Have him look some stuff up.”
You shut your laptop and reached for your phone when you decided to do just that. It wouldn’t hurt to have an extra set of hands on the case while you figured out what you were hunting. You just hoped the poor kid still wasn’t feeling hungover. The internet only had so much information at your fingertips, the Men of Letters’ library would hopefully have the answers you were looking for. You needed to find out and quick, before another life could be taken.

“You’ll heal” That’s exactly what Scott said to Corey in Teen Wolf Season 5 episode 8. Scott physically assaulted and violated Corey – putting his claws into Corey’s neck without his consent – and he tried to justify his abusive behavior by yelling “You’ll be alright!” and “You’ll heal!” at a visibly hurt and traumatized Corey. Stiles’ comment in 5x11 was just a well deserved clap back to what Scott said (and did) to Corey in 5x08.
Okay. I was initially going to ignore this poor attempt to “parallel”, because that is what this comment deserves. However, this will serve as a warning statement for anyone else to not try me on this.  Firstly, I am NOT here for any hate towards Scott Mccall or Stiles Stilinski. So, I will politely ask you to shove it somewhere more useful. Now, I will try to write this in a way you can understand. Scott never deserved that. My last post merely honors the fact that after Scott   - had to fight his first beta, and close friend, in order to live, - only to then be killed off by a person he was so desperately give the benefit of the doubt,  - died alone (Mason was unconscious), - was ressurected from the dead by his own mother who then tells him to give the members of his pack hope, even though he probably has lost all of it himself (which he ends up doing immaculately) - had to force himself to heal, to no avail btw (he keeps walking around with this huge open wound), in order to try and help his best friend - overexerted himself to help every one else (because that is who he is). , had the determination to try and fix this and kept on moving forward. I believe that Stiles simply made a mistake. This wasn’t a clapback at all, in my opinion. There are so many extenuating circumstances, which makes it understandable that someone will snap and say or do something stupid. But they learn from it, which is called “character development”. This whole thing just hit me, as a concept. Mostly because, even though Scott nearly always learns from his mistakes, in this case he doesn’t learn from Stiles’s. Scott keeps pushing himself far beyond his own limits, which is obvious in S5E18 “Maid of Gevaudan”, and this behavior doesn’t stop after that episode. This leads me to believe, that the next time he’ll die (which is bound to happen), he won’t magically get up again and roar. Stiles, I believe, knows this. Which might just be why he has so much trouble bringing that situation up (it gets subtlety ignored throughout, which could also be appointed to fast writing), because Scott turned his own curse into a gift (one he never wanted) to help everyone else to the best of his abilities, so tying to stop Scott is like trying to stop Superman. You shouldn’t.  Scott constantly puts his own well-being completely behind anyone else’s. Which is, sadly, what a hero does.  Scott, in S5E08, was under severe pressure (again), and did what he felt he had to in that moment, to save Liam and Hayden. While this doesn’t excuse assaulting Corey, I do see it as one of the few mistakes Scott makes and learns from. If you know Scott as a character, you know that when Lydia points his mistake out, he does feel guilty about it, but tries so set it aside in order to try and help the others. Corey has had his fair share of torment in the series, but he made mistakes too (like when he took Mason away before Scott could talk to him), but again in that situation it is understandable.  And that to me is the whole point. After everything they’ve been through, they are bound to make mistakes, and they’re nearly always understandable in the given situation. Don’t act like you wouldn’t. Because in all honesty, if I were Scott in S5E11, I would probably not have the same determination that he has.  As long as they learn from it, I don’t believe they deserve hate.  And can we just please stop putting both of these characters up against one another? This isn’t that kind of TV show. It just isn’t.  So go and shove your stinky, smelly, old and rotten olive in the middle of someone else’s perfect pizza, instead of trying to ruin mine.  I will not accept any other comment, saying that Scott deserved this.  (Because he never kicked Stiles out of his pack, he simply said that he needed time, which is obviously key here, since time was what made him come to the conclusion that Donovan’s death was self-defense.) Instead, I will just ignore you, because I can, which is the beauty of this platform. I love both Scott and Stiles, and if anything season 5 was simply a rough season for both of them. In my opinion, every friendship that is this intense is bound to have some arguments and doubts in them, but you do everything to try to get beyond that as best as you can together, which is why, all the supernatural stuff aside, this show is relatable to so many of you.  Hope this was slightly educational.  EDIT: The more I think about it, Scott saying “you’ll heal” is a direct consequence of the way everyone around him has been treating Scott’s injuries, rather than a “parallel”. Everyone has been so focussed on the fact that werewolves have the ability to heal physically, but disregard the mental healing process. At this point, this has been drilled into Scotts mind, that he is actually convinced that his pain and torment doesn’t matter, because it’ll just heal right? Now, in that exact situation, I’d possibly lash out at Corey too. Because Scott is expected to not dwell on the fact that he has been hurt, to just ignore it. But when someone else's pain might save two people's lives (Hayden and Liam), he should refrain from tapping into Corey’s memories? I understand that there were better alternatives, but given the circumstances, and the continuous mental strain that Scott underwent, I’m just not surprised that this is the option he goes for in that moment. Maybe that's what frustrates me, because even though I respect Stiles and love his character, I also believe that the “oh you’ll heal” thing, could be seen as a form of the mental torment he burdens Scott with. And maybe just maybe this isn’t a clapback to Scott from the Corey moment, but proof of Stiles’s disregard for Scotts mental and physical health... Idk, their relationship is very complex, which is what I like about it. But sometimes I just wish that Stiles would be slightly more considerate towards that, but then again S5 was an emotional wreck. And I do believe that it has a lot to to with the pressure to get a script out there within a certain timeframe. I just wish that there were more Sciles moments...

(for the ask thing) any book/tv show/movie/song recommendations?
BRO! I heckin got you man! Now, I’m gonna skip the song and book recommendation bit because that sorta thing isn’t really my scene. BUT! In terms of TV? My rec list is like a mile long. I’m gonna include a read-more line, actually.
BBC Merlin: You know I had to put this on the list. But the fact that you’re on my blog means you’ve probably watched this one, so I won’t go into detail about it. Available on Netflix
Mob Psycho 100: Just a cute, sweet story about a bunch of psychic kids trying to kill each other. A story with this much fighting has no right to be so wholesome. Mob is just a good boy, he doesn’t deserve all this! Fair warning, its messages about identity, self love, and growth WILL make you feel Emotions. Available on various anime pirating websites
Red vs Blue: The found family game is SO strong in this one. By far the best found family plot/dynamic I have ever and will ever experience. The characters are all so solid, yknow? Like it took me three rewatches to understand the plot, but I didn’t even care because I loved the characters SO MUCH. It’s also really, really funny (although some of the jokes have aged a bit poorly tbh). Basically about a bunch of space marines who goof off and accidentally dismantle corrupt governments along the way. Available on Youtube
Supernatural: Is it cringey? Yeah. Does the fandom suck? Also yeah. Is Destiel overrated? BIG yeah. But it’s got monsters, magic, family, and a plot that doesn’t revolve around romance - and really, what more could you ask for? And sure, a lot of people don’t really like the later seasons, but idk I actually prefer them. Season 15 has me THRIVING. I mean come on - character vs author?! Fighting the guy who literally wrote you into existence because he doesn’t want to give your story a happy ending?! Say what you will about Supernatural, but it’s one of the most imaginative shows I’ve ever seen. Available on Netflix
Avatar the Last Airbender: You like stellar animation, intricate worldbuilding/magicbuilding, and a perspective on war that is surprisingly mature for a kids show? Check it out. This show is without a doubt one of the best animated series of all time. Go on. Watch it. It’ll change your life. Available on Netflix
The Umbrella Academy: Time-travelling assassins. Superheroes. Ghosts. Talking monkeys. Murder mysteries. Baller soundtracks. This show will never give you what you expect. I don’t even think I could properly describe it to you. Available on Netflix
Detective Conan: An anime. It’s about a teen detective - think Nancy Drew but bloodier - who witnesses a crime and is fed an experimental poison in order to keep him from telling anyone. But instead of killing him, the poison turns him into a 6-year-old. So now he’s got to solve crimes and take down a criminal organization while in the body of a child. Naturally, shenanigans ensue. Fair warning, the main character becomes a bit of a Mary Sue in later episodes, but the first 300 or so are pretty fun. A few episodes are available on Netflix, but not any of the good ones. You’ll need an anime pirating website for that
Knives Out: My favourite movie ever, of all time. It’s a murder mystery that both subverts and pays homage to its parent genre in all the right places. It’s funny, it’s intelligent, and has a spectacular ending! Although I do wish the fandom would stop being so horny for Ransom, I mean he’s literally racist...No clue where you can find this tbh, I saw it in theatres
Derry Girls: Now I’m not normally a big fan of realistic fiction/sitcom stuff. Despite how funny they are, I’ve not even watched The Office or Parks and Rec because that normal daily life stuff just doesn’t peak my interest. And yet, somehow this story about a group of Irish high schoolers just has me enthralled. Very funny, very well-written, give it a watch. Available on Netflix
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood: Another anime. Phenomenal animation? Check. Fascinating plot and characters? Check. Detailed magic system that gets my lore-obsessed heart fluttering? Big heckin check. So basically two kids try to use Fantasy Science to bring their mom back to life, only the experiment fails and has some pretty nasty consequences - one boy loses his arm and leg, while the other loses his entire body and has his soul bound to a suit of armour. Now they gotta go through government conspiracies, ethical dilemmas, and Daddy Issues to try and get their bodies back. Available on Netflix
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K: Yet another anime. I know, I know, I’m a nerd, get over it. This show doesn’t have a complex plot or even complex characters, tbh, but what it does have is some amazing humour. It’s extremely funny, and it’s also just a nice show to kick back and relax to. Basically this guy who’s so op that he could rewrite the laws of reality on a whim is stuck dealing with relationship drama in high school despite being very, very asexual and very, very tired. Mostly he just uses his powers to avoid people and eat junk food, which is honestly a mood. Available on Netflix
Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated: Honestly I’d recommend almost anything that’s Scooby Doo-related because that was my childhood obsession. I used to have like 20 of the movies on DVD before my mom gave them all away. To this day I still love Scooby Doo, and watch it whenever I get the chance. But if you ask any SD fan, they’ll probably tell you that Mystery Incorporated is the best, most intelligent, most creative installment in the franchise. And they’re right (although I do wish there was less relationship drama...) Available on Netflix
Evil Genius: This is a documentary series about the Collar Bomb Robbery. Now, despite what the above list might indicate, I actually watch a LOT of documentaries, and if I were here to recommend all of them then we would be here all day. Not really ‘funny’ like the other entries on this list, it’s actually rather tragic, but definitely a cerebral viewing experience. Available on Netflix
Screwball: Now this is a documentary that IS funny. It’s about drug scandals in baseball. But the dramatic scene re-enactments are done with child actors that are all wearing fake beards and pretending to be drug dealers. It’s not only a fascinating subject, but it’s got amazing editing and visuals that have me in awe. Available on Netflix
Behind the Curve: Yet another documentary. This one’s about the rise of the Flat Earth movement. You’ll spend most of the time on the verge of having a stroke because of how stupid it all is. Available on Netflix
The Movies That Made Us: Okay okay okay last documentary on the list I swear. This one’s exactly what it says on the tin. It’s a series talking about the behind-the-scenes production of iconic movies like Home Alone and Ghostbusters. I eagerly await the second season. Available on Netflix
Monster Factory: If you’re familiar with the McElroy brothers and their brand of humour, you’ll love this. Griffin and Justin team up to make the most disturbing avatars they can create using video game character creators. The origins of the Final Pam meme. If I had a shirt with a quote from Monster Factory on it, I’d die a happy man. Available on Youtube
Baman Piderman: The dumbest show I have ever watched, but it’s so adorable and stupid and I love it so much. It doesn’t really have a plot, but later episodes allude to the presence of one and I’m upset because there are so many mysteries/questions hinted at and we’ll never get answers because it’s been abandoned. PLEASE watch it. Available on Youtube
Stranger Things: Okay, season 2 was a bit of a let-down imo, but season 1 was ICONIC and the Scoops Troop subplot in season 3 deserved its own freakin spinoff. I’m not joking. I didn’t even like s3 all that much, but the only reason it’s my favourite is because the Scoops Troop plot was so great. People call this show ‘horror’ but I don’t think it’s scary enough for that, although it is admittedly kinda spooky. If you like 80s nostalgia and the horror aesthetic, then I’d give it a watch (Do it for Scoops Troop. Do it for Robin). Available on Netflix
Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart: Despite my overwhelming love for this film, I’ll be the first to admit it’s kinda mediocre. The plot is weird and the romance feels forced, but despite its flaws it manages to be one of my favourite movies. Mostly I just like it for the unique concept and beautiful ending. Also the music is off the par man. Probably because the writer/producer of the movie was the lead singer for a French band called Dionysus (what? I do my research). Available on Netflix
Wakfu: I haven’t seen past season 3, but so far it’s pretty good. You go in thinking it’s just a wholesome action/adventure show about a kid who can create portals - but then it just. Sucks you in. From its bopping theme song to its fantastic found family to the unique worldbuilding, you very quickly fall in love with it. It’s got a cool plot and also talking dragons, and it doesn’t get better than that. Available on Netflix
Mystery Skulls Animated: Technically not a TV show so much as it is a series of animated music videos with a plot, but I’ll be damned if this isn’t one of the greatest things of all time. It’s basically Scooby Doo but if Shaggy got possessed by a demon and killed Fred, causing Fred to become a ghost hellbent on revenge-killing Shaggy in return. And if Scooby was an ancient Japanese spirit that bit off Shaggy’s arm, forcing him to wear a metal prosthetic. Yeah, MSA is wild. It’s only got three videos out so far, with a fourth one coming out this October, but there’s already so much lore! Available on Youtube
Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared: Ah yes, yet another cringey entry on this list. But you know what? Cringe culture is dead!!! And despite its fandom being...like that...DHMIS really is a cool show. Think if Sesame Street was like haunted or something. The episodes about creativity and telling time remain the most unsettling, imo. Definitely worth a watch. Available on Youtube
Inanimate Insanity: Oh boy. Am I seriously recommending you dip your little fingies into the object fandom? Yes. Yes I am. This show is so obscure it makes freakin Detective Conan look popular. At its core it’s a parody of Total Drama Island and Survivor but with anthropomorphized inanimate objects as characters (hence the name). Season 2 is actually really, really good and surprisingly competent. You just gotta get through season 1 first. Available on Youtube
The X-Files: Wow, a live action series on this list? Who woulda thought??? But seriously, this show is really fun. Memes and jokes aside, I love it. Scully and Mulder are fun characters with great chemistry (both platonic and romantic), the Lone Horsemen are hilarious, and every episode is a unique adventure into the most creative acid trips the human mind could conceive of. Phenomenal from start to finish (if you ignore the last season). I have no clue where you would watch this. Pirate it, probably
Buzzfeed Unsolved: Two idiots investigate cold cases and haunted locales while being utter dumbasses about it. You know the “hey demons it’s be ya boi” meme? That came from these guys. Available on Youtube
Kingdom: Ngl, I didn’t go into this expecting zombies. Or for it to take place during Korean feudalism, for that matter. But mediocre dubbing aside, this show has such a clever concept. It takes the zombie apocalypse genre and gives refreshing, unique twists to old tropes that they feel like something new. Seo-bi is my wife and she deserves all the love and appreciation in the world, and those are just Facts. Available on Netflix
My Hero Academia: Superhero high school anime. I personally am not a fan of later episodes/arcs, but the first three seasons are pretty dang good. Diverse, colourful ensemble cast that you easily grow to adore, interesting commentary on disability (although I’m not qualified to give any actual takes on that), and a school curriculum that makes me very, very concerned for the wellbeing of these children. Plus all the superpowers - aka ‘quirks’ - are super imaginative and, well, quirky! I just wish people would stop shipping the main character with his childhood bully...You’ll need to pirate this one too lmao
Danny Phantom: The highlight of this show is its ‘phandom’, because unlike someone (*cough* Butch Hartman), we’re not a bunch of cowards. It’s about a guy who messes around with his parents’ lab stuff and accidentally acquires the ability to die! Well, half-die. He can turn into a ghost and fight other ghosts. Although the show never explores the existential, traumatic fallout of being kinda-sorta-dead, the potential for something deep and emotional is there. Plus there is a LOT of accidental subtext for a Big LGBT+ Metaphor. So much so that the Trans Danny theory is basically canon. Uhhh not available on Netflix anymore so it’s time to whip out your pirate hat, matey
And there you have it! Like I said, I have a lot of TV recommendations. And I just KNOW I’m forgetting a ton, but this is already really long so we’ll have to cut off here.
Thanks for the ask! <3
