Penance Adair is one of the main characters of the TV series "The Nevers" (2021-2023).

Plot: in London at the end of the 19th century, after mysterious events, people, mostly women, acquire unusual talents. Among the women with superpowers, two stand out: inventor Penance Adair and seer Amalia True. They unite into a team and protect themselves and others from villains who want to use their powers for their own selfish purposes.

Penance Adair was played by Ann Skelly. According to the plot, the heroine creates amazing devices that help the "nevers" control their powers.

It's far from his worst crime, but I hope history holds Whedon accountable for smothering a show like The Nevers in the crib. What an amazing show that was, and he dragged it down with him.

This fight between True and a guy who can walk on water is one of the top fights I've ever seen on TV and practically no one will ever see it.

Holy shit, the river fight. I'm so glad Joss Whedon didn't write OR direct this episode, because that means this is the kind of epic shit we can expect now that he's not involved. Best TV fight scene since ronny/lilly on Barry.

And, if you watch the behind-the-scenes after the episode, you know that a good amount of this fight actually was Laura and not her stunt woman. Incredible.
