I might be the exact target audience for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and I think it's because of my autism.

I'm at season 2 episode 5 (Charades) and I keep asking myself, "Is Spock Vulcan or just autistic?" because he's sooooo relatable it's baffling. I mean, he's relatable in every rendition, especially TOS, but wow SNW Spock hits a certain way. Yes I too complain about being able to smell people constantly.

HE EVEN DOES HAPPY STIMS LIKE ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? I bounce when tasting good food, Spock rocks, same thing basically. Overwhelming joy turned into physical energy.

Like do you want me to go through the show and make a list of "moments Spock was peak autism vibes" because I'm autistic enough to make that. I can even give you a spreadsheet and diagrams. A 10-part series. A video essay. For science.

When is it time to form a headcanon that Amanda's autistic, which is why she ended up with a Vulcan husband and living on Vulcan, and Spock inherited her autism, but because of Vulcan cultural norms, it's hardly noticeable (except when he turns human hehe).

Also Christine Chappell gives me such strong autism vibes too? My lesbian heart is so smitten. And the instant connection she had with Spock, like when autistic people cross paths in the wild and wonder why they get along so well?

I don't know enough autistic people in real life so when I resonate with characters like these it makes me soooo happy lol. This show is a joy to watch.

The main issue with Modern Star Trek is that it lacks campy episodes. Discovery and Picard and SNW take themselves far too seriously. Where is a dog dressed up as a unicorn? Where are the weird ass aliens that are a thinly veiled political allegory?

This can easily be solved by reducing the special effects budget to $10 USD and the help of 3 paid interns.

Star Trek franchise wins the Peabody Institutional Award → June 9 2024

At the 84th Annual Peabody Awards, the Star Trek franchise received the Peabody Institutional Award which is given annually to recognize an organization or long-running television program that has made an indelible mark on the American broadcasting landscape.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds cast members Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn and Ethan Peck joined fellow Star Trek franchise actors and creatives on stage as executive producer Alex Kurtzman accepted the award.

Kurtzman spoke about the almost 60 year legacy of the franchise that has given hope to us all and that no matter who you are there is a place for you in the Star Trek family. He also recognized Bjo Trimble, who was in attendance, and was part of a successful "Save Star Trek" campaign in 1968, generally credited with allowing the series to run for a third season rather than being cancelled after two.

Also in attendance were Patrick Stewart, LeVar Burton, Scott Bakula, Jeri Ryan, Wilson Cruz, Doug Jones, Tawny Newsome, Sam Richardson, Akiva Goldsman, Henry Alonso Myers, Michelle Paradise, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Noga Landau, Jenny Lumet, Trevor Roth and J.J. Abrams.
