I have figured how they could bring back Michael Emerson for s3 of Elsbeth. He could play Milton Crawford’s cheesy twin brother - Stilton Crawford.

Okay so I love love love this analysis and this actually touches on a couple different analysis I have been working on related to the music in 'The Lost Boys' and the symbolism of light both visually and metaphorically in the movie.

So not to get too far off your analysis but some background for my theory is that I believe that all the music in 'The Lost Boys' reveals hidden/inexplicit information about the characters thoughts and relationships, and that the placement of each song reveals who and what it is referencing. For example the song 'Lost in the Shadows' is seemingly referencing Micheal's transformation into a vampire with lyrics like "I don't know what this madness means" and "Till the darkest thought makes me want to try these wings" BUT the place in the movie that this song plays is during the bike race to Hudson's Bluff which is before Micheal has drank the blood or even been to the sunken hotel. This means that the lyrics either do not match the story or that they are referencing something other than just the literal transformation into a vampire.

Another example of the music revealing hidden things about the characters is that the song 'Power Play' is playing in the background the first time we see Max and during Max's first on screen interaction with the lost boys. 'Power Play' has lyrics such as "He'll lift you out of the cradle, Help you into the grave" and "freedom seems, To be a far-off dream" which I believe hint at Max's identity as the head vampire of Santa Carla and also his relationship with the lost boys, the latter being something that we barely see in the movie.

So moving directly into your analysis I would like to draw attention to the fact that the theme of the movie is not 'Lost in the Shadows' but 'Cry Little Sister' even though the former directly has "Lost Boys" in its lyrics. To me this draws a more direct line symbolically between 'Cry Little Sister' and the lost boys as characters. 'Cry Little Sister' as you said draws parallels to the lost boys with "Blind boys don't lie" but also further cements this parallel in the next part of the song with "Deep in your veins, I will not lie". These lines cannot reference anyone else except the lost boys without ignoring part of the song. But 'Cry Little Sister' is not the only song on the soundtrack that references blindness.

The other song that has lyrics about blindness is the end credit song 'Don't let the Sun go Down on Me' and I believe that this song directly ties into 'Cry Little Sister' and the lost boys thoughts and ultimate fate. The lyrics in 'Don't let the Sun go Down on Me' that mention blindness are "Closed the door and left me blinded by the light" but looking further at this section of the song and the chorus of 'Cry Little Sister' I believe that 'Don't let the Sun go Down on Me' reflects the lost boys as a whole but particularly David's feelings toward Michael after the events of the movie. (Whether this is read as the lost boys survive, only David survives, or all of them died at the end of the movie is a different question I'm not going to focus on.)

The chorus of 'Cry Little Sister' is "Thou shall not fall", "Thou shall not die", "Thou shall not fear", and "Thou shall not kill", in that order right? Well the second section of 'Don't let the Sun go Down on Me' parallels that exact order with its lyrics "Too late to stop myself from falling"(Thou shall not fall), "I took a chance and changed your way of life"(Thou shall not die), "But you misread my meaning when I met you"(Thou shall not fear), and "Closed the door and left me blinded by the light"(Thou shall not kill). Note how the line that corresponds to kill is also the line that talks about being blinded?

If each of the lost boys is killed while being blinded by something then these songs are directly connected to each other and as the other songs in the soundtrack do, it reveals the thoughts and feelings of the lost boys that are not directly stated/explored in the movie. I do think that the mentioned blindness more directly references David due to the lyrics being 'Blinded by the light' and that he dies in a blaze of light but David is the mouthpiece of the lost boys so it by extension applies to all of the boys. Now the use of light as a metaphor is a whole other essay I've been cooking up lol so I'm not gonna start on that.

What do you think though? I hope I'm not rambling to much!!!

So I thought back on the lost boys and I noticed that the boys are not really the villains of the story, that honor goes to max, because if you look deep into it the boys are really goons in a way (henchman if you will)

And another thing I noticed was in the song cry little sister the line when said blind boys don’t lie and that got me thinking about the boys deaths.

For example David at first glance is this cool menacing bad boy who is the leader of the lost boys, but when he first sees the main protagonist Michael he is head over heels for him, like seriously he goes out of his way to impress Michael through the movie like you would do with a crush. And on top of that he can’t get a word out when he’s around him and always smiling at him and in the maggots and worm scene and bridge scene he uses tactic of scaring as a way of flirting which in the end leads to his death being blinded by love.

For Marko at first glance he is the time bomb of the gang, the first thing he does is get into a fight, cause someone looked at him and the guys wrong and in the motorcycle race when Michael punched David in the face he’s the first one to get up and gets ready to fight him. He is protective of his friends and is always ready to defend them, but he also playful with them and gets food for them because he is loyal, which makes his death all the more saddening that he was asleep during his death vulnerable, unable to do anything, unable to fight back blinded by vulnerability.

For Paul at first is the laidback one of the gang, the one who smiles at everything and is always joking around, in the bridge scene where they are hung over the train tracks he plays with Marko and when they are entering in the cave, he is holding laddie’s hand and jumps around the way down to the cave like it’s a game and when he vamps out he is laughing, because he is happy and kind to everyone around him, which makes Marko’s death hits him the most and that happy persona melts away into pure unadulterated rage and vengeance which leads to his death as well blinded by rage.

For Dwayne at first he is the silent one of the gang not really saying much in the movie, but his actions speak louder than words could ever do for example in the movie he never seen showing off to anyone and only talks when he needs to. He is admired by laddie and copy’s him as a big brother , because he doesn’t need to show off to anyone cause he knows he’s strength and in the end while facing off against Sam he becomes cocky and says the famous line “ you miss sucker” to him even though he didn’t need to say that because he was overly confident to action first leaning to him to die by being blind by cockiness.
