This scene hurts me so much because it was their last meeting together. I would give anything for the ending to be like this, after defeating Samaritan, they reunited and saw that, despite no one knowing, they saved the world.
P.s. I even miss Chris Fisher's POI noir

Hrm, can't really update this post at all. I never read fic for Green Queens, and Talder is a ship where making the characters less competent than they are in canon isn't that much of a character assassination unless the writing fails in other ways. And I can't fault Raylla fic for anything because the source material itself made them 10000% fluffier and 10000% more perfect than they actually were, so.
So yeah tl;dr the fandom take on Cophine is like 10000% fluffier and 10000% more perfect than they actually are, which sometimes bugs me…
Heh, I have the OPPOSITE problem with Root/Shaw, in that the big fic heavy hitters are all about angst and one or the other party, usually Root, spiralling out of control and to where it compromises their ability to do the job, at which point readers understand that they’ve hit rock bottom because of their ~feelings~. Which is completely contrary to how the PoI characters function! These are people who escape their feelings in their work. They get more competent (and more deadly) the more emotionally out of control they are. Besides which, I think it does a disservice to these characters to ignore their emotional intelligence. They’re all experts at tracking and extrapolating behavior of their marks to formulate their plans, Finch taught The Machine how human emotions work, and let us never forget that Root hacks people as easily as she hacks computers. (And Carter is just the most emotionally intelligent and stable being ever. Even Fusco is no slouch in that department.) They don’t doubt other peoples’ intentions, and they can read each other just as much as anyone else. And from everything I’ve seen in canon, Finch, Reese, and Root are all pretty in tune with their own emotional states, as well. At worst, they’ll lie about it to others for the sake of the mission, but they’ve pretty much always already come to terms with their own feelings. I’m even not so sure that Shaw isn’t aware of her own emotions, and just pulled the sociopath line because that’s part of her banter routine with Root. She didn’t hesitate to explain why she didn’t go off with Tomas, or use a bullshit excuse, and even in the beginning, she never denied her bond with Cole. Shaw knows Root won’t believe her denials, and knows that her actions speak louder than her words. Her verbal brush-offs, like in the S3 finale, are more about signalling to Root that she doesn’t want to pursue this further at this moment, beyond banter, not a sign that she can’t figure out what’s going on. Like with the others lying about their feelings for the sake of the mission, Shaw doesn’t confirm hers to others out of her pragmatism. She knows that, with most people, confirmation of feelings will create expectations and obligations she doesn’t care about. It’s not unlike how old bachelors who do find a partner are still less willing to budge on their habits for their significant others. That doesn’t mean that they’re in denial about their feelings. But as the others prove that they won’t do that, she doesn’t mind showing her concern for them, especially Reese and Finch. Miscommunication about feelings, both internal and externally, is the foundation of fanfiction and most romantic drama, but I just don’t see any support for it in canon. PoI is a show about people who know who they are, and know how others are. It’s like a show full of Eliot Spencers, is what I’m saying. Which is super refreshing! Show full of emotional intelligence competence porn FTW. P.S. I’m sad there aren’t more Dollhouse, Angel, or Leverage crossover fics.
