Help a disabled family get home

With the announcement of a ceasefire and plans to reopen a safe route back to north Gaza, the Al-Habil family are getting ready to go back home!

But the way ahead is still very difficult. Ibtisam's son Mohammed needs an urgent surgery to try to save his leg, and her daughter Nour needs ongoing medical care and a nutritious diet to live with her heart condition. Ibtisam herself is also still trying to treat severe back pain after a herniated disc.

In addition to all of this, the costs to travel back to their home in the north of Gaza are extremely high. Due to having multiple disabled individuals in their party, traveling by foot is impossible. This means they will have to hire a transport, which will cost thousands. The fact that disabled people are being exploited with such exorbitant prices is disappointing, but there is nothing we can do right now.

To meet the family's needs and arrange safe and accessible transportation, we will need about $6000 USD (about $8,619) CAD. We will raise it increments of $1,000 USD or $1,440 CAD.

Without your support, Ibtisam and her family are stranded in central Gaza, with no way to get home. They still have no income, and likely will not for some time. They should not be forced to remain in displacement, living in limbo on the streets of central Gaza, because of disability.

You know, I've come to the realization that a lot of these MAGA guys are actually just literal socialists and would-be union workers who've been conned into believing Trump is the one looking out for the little guy when he's not. I've been watching a lot of YouTube videos where a fair few people go to Trump rallies and pitch leftist ideas in a Trump-esque way, and they eat it up.

I think a good few genuinely believe in the left's side of things and in technicality are socialist but grew up with the education of 'socialist = bad' and because 'they're not bad' they can't be socialist so what else is left but to I guess... not be on the side of the ones people say are socialist since 'socialist = bad'. Don't know if that makes sense but I hope it does.

I mean, think about it for a second: who are the guys buying into the 'conspiracy' that the rich run the world (globalist agenda) and are actively against that? That's literally just 'eat the rich' from a rightist perspective and they don't realize they're fighting for the same thing. Who are the guys yelling about 'big pharma' withholding secret cures for this or whatever for the sake of money? They're two steps to wanting free healthcare and another two from just outright hating the capitalist system. The only issue is how deep the cultist mindset of Trump has been burned into their heads to the point you can't get it through to them without them feverishly denying all this.

It's a sad reality, actually, because this is the same working man spirit that got FDR and Teddy Roosevelt into office. But like Reagan, it's been corrupted and twisted so that people believe the guy fighting for the rich is fighting for them. It's a political zombie invasion- people who would be your friends but a few years ago infected and corrupted into attacking you.

And yes; there are a large amount in his base - probably a majority -that are just racist sexist assholes. I'm not saying all the MAGA guys are secretly your zombified friends. But there are some people who are simply victims of the flawed American education system that both Democrats and Republicans hate (in their own way, of course).

just a few thoughts i've been having while trying to see things more clearly.

6-year-old Joan Al-Habil is has been repeatedly hospitalized due to severe gastrointestinal problems and overwhelming fatigue. This poor girl has been to multiple facilities and seen multiple doctors, undergone extensive testing (as extensive as is possible in Gaza's collapsed medical system), even having to endure an unsedated endoscopy.

She has now been diagnosed with severe gastritis due to starvation and hazardous living conditions. Remember, she and her family are living on the streets, which are cold and wet due to winter rain. Homelessness, stress, exposure to the elements, her previous injury when the lOF firebombed her tent, and malnutrition all conspire to sap little Joan of her strength.

Her condition is so serious that she even had to undergo surgery. Gastritis very rarely requires surgery to treat, so this is an indication of how dire her condition is. The surgery was successful to a degree, but she is going to need ongoing treatment to manage her symptoms.

The treatments are administered weekly and cost $500 USD (just under €500 EUR). Her family has no income and cannot afford this. If Joan goes more than a few days without treatment, her symptoms worsen rapidly, and she sometimes has to be hospitalized. It is vital that we help her family procure her treatments so that her condition does not worsen!
