Lip Gloss - S.R
a/n: wow this is really short and i feel like i overuse the lip gloss shtick but
masterlist

summary: in which spencer really likes your sparkly lip gloss
warnings: none? fluff
wc: 0.5k
Pink. Sparkles. Lip gloss. Those were the only thoughts running through Spencer's mind as he walked into the break room. Which this was a surprise to him because usually his mind was running a mile a minute--mathematical equations, book references, and case theories. But when you were near that was all reduced to a heaping pile of nothing. Especially now, as you leaned casually against the counter, in pink pumps and matching skirt that definitely wasn't up to the dress code, but he wasn't sure if you cared.
Cradled between your hands was a white mug, its side inscribed with the words 'Britney survived 2007. You can handle today' in stark black letters. He had no idea what it meant, but he noticed it was your favorite, a staple in your daily routine, unless it found its way to the top self, an inconvenience Spencer would subtly always rectify when he went to pour his own cup.
The focal point of his attention, however, was your lips, more precisely, the sheer layer of shimmering gloss that clung to them. Words were forming on those same lips, presumably directed at him, but they seemed to dissolve before reaching his ears, his gaze transfixed by the glistening movement of your mouth.
"Huh?"
With a smile, you pressed your glittering lips together and took a step in his direction. He managed to clear his throat, trying to redirect his attention to your eyes, but his gaze remained helplessly planted.
"I swear, half my routine is just reapplying this stuff after every sip," you said while your thumb worked diligently to wipe away the sparkling smudge from the mug.
"Considering the non-Newtonian fluid dynamics of the lip gloss's polymeric substances, which exhibit both viscous and elastic properties, it leads to a higher propensity for adhesion and cohesion on substrates with varying thermal coefficients."
Your fingers absentmindedly toyed with your earlobe as you cocked your head, a bemused furrow forming above your eyes, but your smile remained undiminished.
"Sorry, that went right over my head," you laughed, nose scrunching in the process. "But it's sweet of you to assume I caught all that."
"Oh, sorry, well, lip gloss is made of oils and waxes that give it that shiny appearance. However, these ingredients don't fully absorb to your skin, so when you press your lips against something, like a hot coffee cup, the excess transfers over."
Heat suffused his face as he registered the unwavering attention you afforded him, as if you were hanging on his every syllable. He sensed your struggle to comprehend, but your effort was evident. He really liked having your attention.
"So, with all that brainpower, do you have any tips for keeping my gloss on my lips instead of my mug?"
"Maybe a straw?"
Your laughter was like music to his ears, filling his senses as your hand, perfectly manicured, lightly touched his arm. A rush of warmth flooded his neck, and he looked at you, momentarily lost for words, as you murmured, "I'll try that out, thanks, Dr. Reid."
"Spencer," he corrects.
"Right, well, thank you, Spencer," you said, standing on tiptoes to plant a kiss on his cheek, before twirling on your heels, your smile lingering in the air.
Spencer could feel the stickiness on his skin, his fingers pressing against the spot you had left, feet glued to the ground. He starting to think he really likes lip gloss.

Strategies to Avoid Loose Skin when Loosing Weight
1. Lose Weight Gradually
Aim to lose 1–2 pounds per week. A slower rate of weight loss allows your skin more time to adjust to body changes. I know it's not what we want to hear but if you want to look amazing at your ugw you can follow this 📉
2. Stay Hydrated
Proper hydration improves skin elasticity, making it more resilient. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Aim for around 2-3 litres of water everyday 💦
3. Prioritize Strength Training
Incorporate strength exercises (like resistance band workouts, weightlifting, and bodyweight exercises) to build and tone muscle, which can help fill out the skin as you lose fat. I recently started doing resistance band workouts at home and liking it so far! 🏋🏻♀️
4. Get Adequate Protein
Protein-rich foods can support collagen production, helping keep skin firm. An optimal protein to Carb ratio in your diet will go a long way! We should at least have 0.36 g of protein per pound of body weight. Since I'm 135 lbs, I should aim for 49 g of protein daily. 💪🏻
5. Include Collagen and Antioxidants
Foods rich in collagen-building nutrients (like vitamin C) can help with skin elasticity. Bone broth, citrus fruits, and berries are good sources. 🍓
6. Moisturize Regularly
Using a moisturizer with vitamin E or other skin-nourishing ingredients can help maintain skin elasticity. I started using Bio Oil today like someone in this GC I'm in recommended, let's hope for the best results! It helps with fading stretch marks too from what I've read~ 🧴
7. Consider Skin-Firming Exercises
Exercises that target areas of concern (like squats for thighs or tricep exercises for arms) can improve the appearance of skin as it adjusts. 🧘🏻♀️
With these steps, you can minimize loose skin and support your body’s natural ability to adjust during weight loss
I'm gonna implement these tips and I hope it helps some of you guys too 🫶🏻

farmer boy!kiri driving me insane as per usua
he’s everyone in town’s favorite guy!! big and dependable and so funny!! local housewives make it a point to wear their prettiest dresses to go and visit his stand at the local market.. but he doesn’t fall for it..
doesn’t fall for anyone until you move into town.. you work at the local bakery and sometimes visit him when the bakery needs an expedited egg delivery..
he’s so smitten with you, you’re pretty, smart and he can’t take his eyes off of you.. makes it a point to lift the heaviest things when you’re around in an effort to impress you..
little does he know how smitten you are with him.. how you purposely promote custards and egg tarts just so that your bakery needs more eggs and milk.. and you have an excuse to go see him again <3
all these meet-cutes until he finally works up the courage to ask you on a picnic.. where he lets you feel his muscles like you’ve been dying to from the start.. where he lets you take off his overalls and lifts up your skirt..
where the sun warms his and yours’ skin and where only the flowers know what happened next :3
(he ate you out and bred u <3)
18+ / fem!reader
you’ve been dying to touch and feel his biceps for the longest time now because you’ve seen the way they tighten and turn exceptionally prominent whenever he picks up and tosses those big sacks of flour that you keep ordering for your bakery from him and him only.
he always greets you in the friendliest way possible whenever he swings by to deliver you the goods; a polite nod of his head and a warm “hey there, darlin’” never fail to make you weak in the knees. the combination of it, that’s sometimes even accompanied by a rather playful wink, turns your brain to goddamn mush. goodness, you’re so into him that it’s getting kind of absurd!
but to be fair, how couldn’t you be? he’s pure eye candy, with his sharp facial features, fiery eyes and messy hair of the exact same shade that he keeps tied back with the help of a single elastic, and that exposes the sides of his neck, as well as the nape, in the most delicious of ways.
his skin is tan and sun-kissed from many days spent working outside under the blazing sun, and his back is broad; he carries any kind of weight with seemingly no trouble at all. the faded, well worn jeans that he usually throws on whenever he drives to town make his ass and thighs look absolutely divine as they hang off his hips.
the sight of them makes you feel like a sleaze from the way they coax you to ogle at him so openly again and again. stealing glances as he moves around your little storage room where you keep all your ingredients, all you can see is his tight physique, his big hands, how appealingly thick his fingers are; coated with a thin layer of white powder coming from the flour.
he’s a working man, oftentimes dirty with sweat and grime whenever you just happen to be passing by his land and spot him coming back from the fields, but surprisingly enough, he keeps his nails clean whenever he comes to see you.
and it doesn’t stop just at the nails. even his face lacks the sheen of sweat his line of work usually tends to induce, because unbeknownst to you, he doesn’t leave the house before he scrubs it clean. his signature white t-shirts — each one usually adorned with a logo of his favourite sports team — are crisp and constantly smell of pleasant laundry detergent; like they’ve been freshly washed every single time. and if his hair just happens to be a mess that day — stubborn strands, bedhead and whatnot — he makes sure to hide it underneath his trusty baseball cap just so you don’t have to see it.
altogether, it shows that he’s trying to impress you. that he’s putting in the effort.
and that effort is almost enough to make an already smitten girl like yourself admit defeat and fold right then and there; in the storage room of your little bakery. to make you rest the flat of your palms against one of the shelves, and bend right over at the middle.
until the fat of your ass is peeking from underneath your pretty sundress, no panties in sight, and he’s got drool nearly dripping from his mouth at the discovery. until his fat cock is nice and snug, sheathed inside your soft cunt, and his heavy balls are tightening from the way you’re invitingly wiggling your hips against him and hurrying to make him all sticky and wet with your arousal so that he can slide in even further, even deeper.
just by looking at him, you know he’d fuck you nice and slow, and so deep that it’d make hearts form in your eyes right before they’d cross. quiet grunts would fill your ear, his breathing ragged as it tickles the side of your neck and cheek. his calloused hands would be warm against your hips; dusting flour over your dress and skin, and providing a steady weight that you could lean on and rest your tired body against any time you’d wish.
there’d be constant pressure in your lower belly — overhelming but the good kind nevertheless. the slapping of skin against skin, the stretch, the sweat coating both of your brows. the pounding, the pleasure, the passion that’d be so intense that you’d end up feeling it in the goddamn marrow of your bones even.
and then, the climax. the white noise and bliss as every nerve end buzzes with electricity that’s powerful but mellow at the same time. the feeling of warm cum eventually leaking from your poor little pussy, down your thighs, dripping onto the floor; causing a mess you both chuckle at whilst cleaning afterwards.
his forehead pressing against your spine as he hunches his back because of the prominent height difference and waits for his cock to slowly soften whilst it’s still inside of you, still stretching your velvety walls. your clothes sticking to your salt-riddled bodies as you attempt to catch your breaths and not say anything too brash or embarrassing to each other.
you want him to rail you and fuck your brains out in this tiny storage room so bad. he’s just such a… man. bulky and strong, simple and endlessly kind. his heart is as big as his tits are, and much like the rest of him, you can’t help but leer at them, too as the mixture of the summer heat and your baked delights turns too much for him to bare in that exact moment and he swiftly loses the crisp white t-shirt just so that he can survive it.
watching him as he throws it over his shoulder and keeps it there, you start to think that you could take such good care of him. that he could take such good care of you. you can already see it; a cozy house, a couple of kids. hard work, animals and endless love. fresh lemonade and cookies. creaky wooden furniture and movie nights on the world’s comfiest couch. domestic bliss.
he’s the type to kiss you goodbye and hello again whenever he walks through the front door.
your daydreams end abruptly when he tosses the last sack of flour onto the neat little pile and turns around to look at you with a face that’s all of a sudden vividly red like a tomato; from his neck to his forehead, from one ear to the other.
you’re still blinking, sweetly batting your eyelashes up at him by the time he finally gathers enough courage to ask you a question you’d thought you’d never get the chance to hear from him.
he wants to take you out on a date, huh?

𝙰𝚕𝚑𝚊𝚒𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚖 𝚡 𝚁𝚎𝚊𝚍𝚎𝚛 ʷᵒʳᵈ ᶜᵒᵘⁿᵗ ¹ᵏ
Alhaitham's sweet little darling goes out of her way to make a yummy breakfast for him and Kaveh, waking up bright and early to prepare everything perfectly. The two boys work so hard, it was the least she could do for them.
She stands at the stove tending to her cooking, a simple breakfast with fresh ingredients she picked up from the market a few days prior. She skilfully cracks a few eggs into the hot, greased pan, letting them cook away as she diverts her attention to whatever else on the counter. In her peripherals, Alhaithem wanders out from beyond the hallway, treading tiredly into the kitchen area. He greets his darling with a mumbled "Good Morning" and fixes himself a cup of bitter black coffee. The two enjoy the silence between them, relishing in the early morning birds and the soft crackle of food cooking in the pan. The warm domesticality of the morning swelled something in Alhaithams pants.
Alhaitham's sweet darling tends to the hot stove, tuning the heat down and poking at her creation. He finds his way pressed into her behind, his hands quick to tease at the soft curve of her waist. He presses his warm lips to the skin of her shoulder, kissing up and down her neck, the spicy scent of black coffee was hot on his breath. His darling relaxes into him, her head rests on his shoulder and a soft moan ripples from her throat. Alhaitham bites at her neck, nibbling and nipping into her soft skin. He noses behind her ear, chastising her for getting distracted.
"Don't burn the food," He orders in a hushed voice, breath tickling at her ear sending a warm shiver down her back.
Alhaitham sneaks under his darling's short skirt, rubbing at the soft swell of her bare thighs. His fingers dance over the soft lace of her underwear, pulling the elastic and snapping it back into her hip. His fingertips rub at her clothed clit softly, sticking up her sweet cunny, messing her pretty panties. She feels his warm hands on her ass, his fingertips hook under her pretty panties, pulling them down and revealing her wet pussy. A decadent string of creamy slick connects her panties to her pussy, Alhaitham is quick to swipe his fingers through her folds. He slicks up his thick fingers, bringing them to his own lips, licking the his pretty Darling's sweet juices. The morning air was cool on her core, she squeezes her thighs in response, breath cutting short. Alhaitham brings his trousers down just below the juncture of his thick cock, thumbing at the base and sliding his tip up between her soft gushy pussy from behind. His cock head catches against her puffy clit as he fucks her squishy thighs, the blunt press of his tip makes her cunny ache and drool. His sweet darling whimpers, fucking her hips back into him, greedily angling his cock so sweetly on her clit. Alhaitham is quick to still her with his hands, pawing at her hip bones tightly.
"Don't lose focus now." He teases, thrusting especially harsh against her drooling cunny.
Alhaitham slips his thick, squishy tip into his sweet little darling's pussy, relishing the tight and delicious squeeze around his cock. Slowly, he moves his hips, grinding his groin into her jiggly ass. Her pretty pussy swallows him eagerly dripping creamy slick all over his cock, making the sweetest mess all over him. She moans softly, hands shaking, clumsily knocking her cooking around as she tries to focus on her task. The thick press of his cock plunges her mind into dizziness, his length presses and kisses at her little cervix. Alhaitham sucks against her neck, locking his lips on her skin as he humps her from behind.
Alhaitham slips his composure, his darling's puffy pussy was just too good on his cock, sucking him in so, so well. He juts his hips sharply, fucking into her cunny with short but powerful thrusts, his hips creating ripples on her pretty, jiggly ass. His grip on her hips tightens, pulling her back on to his thick cock, using her little pussy like a toy as she helplessly grips on to the bench. The tool that was in his darling's hands drops to the counter with a short clatter. Her squishy thighs clap against Alhaitham's own as he fucks into her creamy pussy from behind. She chatters the sweetest little affirmations into the air, moaning in pretty little staccato notes. Archon's, she was insatiable, how could he keep his hands to himself?
Alhaitham's hips stutter pathetically, his pace grows slack, practically relying on the sweet girl in front of him to back up on his thick cock. He pushes in deep, his thick, squishy tip kisses at her cervix as he cums thick and creamy ropes into her little pussy. He humps against her, slowly fucking his milky cum deep inside his sweet darling's cunny. His darling whines and wriggles her hips side to side, teasing every last drop of his cum into her. Soon, he slowly pulls out, pulling her pretty panties back up and patting her sensitive, creamy little clit. She jolts, the fabric sticky and wet on her achey cunny. Alhaitham's milky cum slowly oozes out of her pretty hole, mixing with her own creamy slick. Surely a treat for someone later.
Alhaitham is quick to situate himself across the kitchen, seated on a stool at the counter, right back to his cup coffee. Luckily, the food his Darling had been making survived the ordeal and she was quick to plate it up, just in time for Kaveh to wander down the hallway, still clad in silky pyjamas with sleep heavy under his eyes.
"G'morning.." He calls to the two patrons in the kitchen, who swallow and side eye each other, both turning to hide a short lived smile each.
You knowwww I had to tease a little Kavehaitham x Reader in there I can't help myselfff 😩

how to reduce acne (and what is acne)
acne is a skin condition that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. it typically results in whiteheads, blackheads or pimples that can appear on the face, forehead, chest, upper back and shoulders. acne is most prevalent among teens but can affect people of all ages. several factors contribute to acne, such as excess oil production, buildup of dead skin cells, bacterial growth and inflammation.
acne is not inherently 'bad' but it is a source of discomfort for many people. while acne itself is not a bad thing, it can lead to potential complications if not managed properly, such as scarring or emotional distress.
when reading this post, it is important to remember that everyone's skin is different and what works for one person may not work for another. i'd like to add that i am not a dermatologist, and this post is written with my own experience in mind as well as research online.
reducing acne involves a combination of skincare practices and lifestyle adjustments. here are some recommended actions:
properly wash your face cleanse your face twice daily to remove excess oil, sweat and dirt. some common face washing mistakes include using the wrong cleanser, over-washing your face, under-washing your face, the wrong water temperature and using a dirty washcloth. don't worry if this all seems confusing, here's a post on how to properly wash your face.
know your skin type use products suitable for your skin type only--oily, dry, combination or sensitive. you can find this out by visiting a dermatologist or (alternatively) researching the skin types and seeing which best matches your skin.
moisturise moisturiser curbs dryness, which balances oil production in your face and therefore helps to prevent acne. choose a non-comedogenic moisturiser to not clog your pores.
consider over-the-counter treatments think about acne treatments with ingredients like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid.
stay hydrated drink plenty of water to maintain skin hydration. good hydration helps to maintain skin elasticity, supports the skin's protective functions and prevents sunburn, sensitivity and oiliness. women should drink about 2.7L of fluids every day (including water, other beverages and food).
limit makeup use minimal makeup and ensure that it is non-comedogenic. don't stop wearing makeup if it is something you enjoy, however, try to limit it in acne-strong areas.
don't touch your face this is a big one, and yet so many people do it. keep your hands away from your face to prevent the spread of bacteria. seriously, you use your hands for so much--you don't want the germs of everything you've touched on your face.
limit sun exposure protect your skin with appropriate sunscreen. and remember to re-apply! limiting sun exposure also reduces skin cancer risk. balance is key, though, because the sun is necessary for vitamin d production and maintaining circadian rhythms.
exercise regularly physical activity can help reduce stress, which may contribute to acne.
enjoy a healthy diet eating a well-balanced diet can support skin health. consider reducing dairy and high glycemic foods. a diet with a low glycemic index may help balance hormone levels, which is the same effect when insulin spikes occur less. essential nutrients promote skin health and help to repair and maintain the skin barrier.
invest in stress management find ways to reduce stress, such as journaling or going for a walk. stress can worsen acne. this is because, under stress, the body's healing process slows down, meaning acne can take longer to heal and become more severe. stress hormones can also increase oil production, leading to clogged pores.

[ID: Two triangles of baklava garnished with ground pistachio and whole cloves, with a silver Moroccan tea set in the background. End ID]
μπακλαβάς / Baklava
Baklava is a layered pastry consisting of a filling of chopped nuts piled between thin sheets of dough and sweetened with syrup. It is of contested and potentially ancient origin, with similar pastries attested in modern-day Turkey, Greece, and Assyria. Today, many regional variations of the pastry exist throughout North Africa and West and Central Asia.
This Greek-style recipe layers a spiced walnut filling between sheets of homemade filo dough, then soaks them in a sugar-honey syrup flavored with cinnamon, clove, and lemon. The resulting pastry is flaky, flavorful, and über-sweet.
Recipe under the cut!
Patreon | Tip jar
Ingredients:
For the dough:
4 2/3 cup (560g) bread flour
1/2 cup + 1 Tbsp (133mL) olive oil
1 Tbsp + 2 tsp red wine vinegar
About 1 - 1 1/3 cup (240 - 320g) lukewarm water
3/4 cup (165g) butter or non-dairy margarine, melted, for brushing
For the filling:
400g walnuts (or hazelnuts, shelled pistachios, and/or blanched almonds)
1/4 cup (35g) breadcrumbs
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (1/2 cassia cinnamon stick)
1 1/2 tsp ground cloves (18 / 1.5g whole cloves)
Greek baklava most commonly uses walnuts, though pistachios are also used. You may experiment with nuts of your choice.
The breadcrumbs help to soak up the syrup evenly and prevent sogginess.
For the syrup:
2 1/2 cups (500g) vegetarian granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups (355mL) water
1/4 cup (80g) agave nectar or honey
1 tsp orange blossom water (optional)
Peel of one lemon
1 cassia cinnamon stick
3 whole cloves
Instructions:
For the dough:
1. Combine flour and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add the vinegar and olive oil and mix to combine.
2. Gradually add a scant cup of water and continue to mix until the dough just comes together. Continue to knead, by hand or with a stand mixer and dough hook attachment, until the dough becomes smooth and elastic, about five minutes. If the dough does not come together, add additional water 1 tsp at a time. The dough should not be sticky.
3. Divide the dough into small balls of about 40g each (for a 13" x 9" pan). You may decide to make the dough balls slightly larger if you’re a beginner at working with thin dough.
4. Coat each dough ball with some olive oil and cover. Allow to rest for at least an hour, to allow gluten to form and facilitate rolling out later.
For the syrup:
1. Scrub a lemon thoroughly and remove the outer layer of peel with a knife or vegetable peeler. Heat sugar, water, lemon peel, cinnamon, and cloves in a large pot over medium heat until simmering. Stir to dissolve sugar and continue to simmer for about 5 minutes.
2. Remove from heat and stir in honey and orange blossom water. Allow to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate.
For the filling:
1. Blanch almonds by boiling them for about a minute, draining, and pinching gently to remove their skins. Shell pistachios. Chop nuts, or use a food processor, to achieve a coarse grind (you don't want a powder!).
2. Toast and grind whole spices, if using. Combine nuts with breadcrumbs and spices in a mixing bowl and set aside.
To assemble:
Baklava is made by interspersing thin sheets of dough with butter and nut filling to create flaky layers. Several sheets of dough will be needed at the top and bottom to prevent the weight of the nuts from causing the pastry to collapse. Some cooks add all of the nut filling between two groups of filo dough, while others intersperse the nuts throughout.
1. Melt margarine in a small saucepan or in the microwave. Using a pastry brush, coat the bottom and sides of a 9 x 13" baking dish in margarine.
2. On a lightly oiled surface, roll out one ball of dough into a rectangle a little larger than the bottom of your baking dish (it will relax as it transferred). Place the sheet in the bottom of the dish, gently stretching it into the corners. Don't worry too much about small holes—there will be many layers!
3. Gently drizzle and brush melted margarine over the sheet of dough.
4. Repeat this process 4 more times, for a total of 5 sheets interspersed with margarine. I placed each sheet on top of the previous one on the counter and waited to transfer them to the pan until I had rolled out all four. You may need to re-oil your working surface as you go.
5. Add just enough nut filling mixture to form a thin layer.
6. Roll out another two sheets of dough and brush them with margarine as before. Add another layer of nuts. Repeat until the nut mixture is gone, making sure to reserve at least five balls of dough for the top.
7. Roll out and place the remaining balls of dough and brush them with margarine as before.
8. Refrigerate for 10-15 minutes to make the baklava easier to cut. Using a sharp knife, cut the baklava into diamonds by cutting in lines diagonally in one direction, and then diagonally in another direction to form points at an acute angle; or, form triangles by cutting lengthwise and then widthwise to form squares, and then diagonally to cut those squares in half. Stick a whole clove in the center of each piece of baklava, if you like.
9. Bake at 300 °F (150 °C) for an hour to an hour and a half, until the top of the pastry is golden brown.
10. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for about 10 minutes. Pour the cooled syrup evenly over the surface of the baklava. Don't add the syrup warm, or it may make the baklava soggy!
11. Allow the syrup to absorb for several hours, or overnight.

The Ultimate ˎˊ-
In this post I share every single step you'll need in order to create a proper skincare routine for both the day and nighttime; as well as extra tips for a variety of skin needs, while also bringing attention to certain steps that may just be optional and those that are necessary for everyone.
Starting with your daytime routine :
Step 1 “Cleanser” :
Cleansing the skin in the morning with a cleanser is *actually* not always necessary (though a good idea in some cases such as if you use hair oils/hair products at night and have acne prone skin) OR in the case of having a lot of residual skincare from the night before, that is sitting on the surface of the skin in the morning. Otherwise it's fine to just rinse the skin with water and pat dry.
Step 4 “SPF” :
The only “mandatory” skincare for the AM is adequate application of Sunscreen. No cleanser or moisturizer necessary (as mentioned above). When applying sunscreen however you want the spf to be able to absorb and penetrate the skin directly as chemical sunscreen filters need to touch the skin to be most effective (it absorbs UV and converts it into heat). This is also why if you do choose to use a moisturizer before sunscreen in the AM (Step 3) it’s best to use one that also contains spf or, pick a moisturizer that is highly absorbent (such as a water based moisturizer) compared to one that is highly occlusive; so that it’s not interfering with the sunscreen penetrating the skin. Reapply as often as needed especially if out doors or in contact with sun exposure (like indoor windows). Every 2 hours is suggested from day to evening.
As for Step 2: “Vitamin C“ :
Is also optional, and most dermatologists I have researched or spoke with generally say to “decide’ for yourself whether or not you want to add it in your routine. This is due to the fact that it’s quite difficult to “prove” the efficacy of the L ascorbic acid with aiding in sun protection and even skin tone complexation etc. (This is ingredient your looking for to get the benefits of what Vitamin C products claim to do on the skin). This questionability is due to various factors that contribute to the Vitamin C product being “stable” and effective. I myself am not currently using a Vitamin C product in my routine (but have in the past) and will update this page on my previous/new experiences when I do reintroduce it. I will recommend that you only purchase a Vitamin C that firstly has “L ascorbic acid as its main form of vehicle. (This is the most reliable stable form of Vit C) and, that you also purchase it from a ”Derm Brand” which may make it an expensive purchase. (More info below in my personal products and recommendations section of this page soon).
Other Tips and notes for skincare in the AM:
Avoid SPF sticks and sprays as they do not nearly have enough coverage to protect you from the sun and remember that makeup containing SPF (though better than makeup that doesn't) does not contain nearly the amount of “Sun Protection Factor” to protect your skin as a regular sunscreen lotion would typically. Although I love makeup I try not to wear it very regularly in the summer if not an event; just so that I can apply SPF instead. Also keeping hand sanitizer with you is a good way to disinfect your hands if you do not have access to a wash station/soap/water etc.
If your short on time in the morning just apply spf after rinsing the skin with water and/or take your spf bottle with you! Remember to keep your sunscreen out of hot cars, humid bathrooms or freezing environments to keep the product effective.
For the Nighttime :
If wearing eye makeup treat this as Step 1, and remove with micellar water first (or product of choice) and cotton pads. Hold cotton pad to eye for about 15 seconds minimum and swipe across gently back and forth to remove makeup. This avoids harsh tugging of the skin which may effect skin elasticity or cause irritation. I like to take an extra cotton pad after, fold it in half and drench the “outer fold” to remove makeup from the upper and lower lash line diligently. Ignoring this area can encourage old makeup to enter your eyes. The reason why I prefer having this step in routine, as opposed to just using the same cleanser or balm as I would my face to remove eye makeup is because it’s more thorough in removal, requires less effort and is less messy which makes me more inclined to do my skincare routine on time when I need to. (That’s important!) But if you don’t tend to wear a lot of heavy eye makeup that requires some effort to remove it’s definitely fine skipping this step.
1. Cleanse rest of the face from sunscreen/make up/lotion/daily dirt and grime as need be with any making removing oil or balm cleanser. Make sure to double/triple cleanse as needed. I will often use cotton pads and micellar water to remove my first layer of makeup just as I did with my eyes and then follow through will the oil/balm cleanser as the second step. If i’m not wearing makeup, I don’t use micellar water on my face and just my cleanser of choice once or twice.
2. Apply serum/hydrating product all over face, neck and eyes. I consider this “the supplementary skin step”, similar to taking a supplement, you can choose to add extra serums, toners, essences etc. to aid in extra hydration, or even introduce products that may address certain skin textural issues etc. There’s a boat load of products you can choose for this step but you will never go wrong with a hydrating serum or essence to give your skin a boost that will make a visible difference than just using your moisturizer alone. Some choose to layer multiple products in this step and if you do the thinnest is generally what you would use first. Overcomplicating this step is common; especially for skin care lovers which may lead to various issues such as irritation from too many products. I left more details on my skincare page in the section below where I touch of various products causing irritation if you want more direction or tips on how to choose the right type of serum/essence/toner for you based on the intended outcome you are trying to achieve.
3. Apply a small amount of eye retinol to the under eye area only.
4. Apply moisturizer all over face neck and eyes (lightly dab over the eye area too, where you placed the retinol (optional). Dabbing is important so you do not move around the eye retinol. Alternatively, you can use eye moisturizer first and eye retinol on top. I prefer the way around, as eye-retinols are quite gentle on my under eye area so I benefit from that direct retinol-to-skin contact.
5. Apply Tretinoin/other related product everywhere *except* the eye area (both the under eyes and lids). Be careful not to bring the tretinoin to close the eye area where you may have spread the eye retinol product out so that you are not layering multiple retinoids on top of one another. Use cautiously around sides of nose, chin and mouth as these area tend to be too sensitizing of a location for many people to tolerate the use of this product. Any area that has repetitive dryness or flakiness (long-term) past the initial “purging adjustment” stage is too sensitive to tolerate the product. Using tret/other in these areas may be causing inflammation of the skin or barrier damage.
*** Optional Step apply an extra layer of any simple occlusive face/body lotion over the entire face if you’d like to seal in the hydration (optional)- when implementing this step after retinol its considered the “sandwich method” (moisturizer, retinol, moisturizer) which some claim helps the skin better tolerate retinoids but I use just to help to keep the skin’s hydration sealed overnight; particularly in the winter season when my room is blasting hot air throughout the night. I also found it helped when I was previously on 0.05 tret (a concentration that I felt was a bit too sensitizing for me at the start).
6. Always remember chap stick & Vaseline for the lips. Any petroleum jelly product ontop of chap stick of choice can be applied for extra protection. Petroleum jelly is optional but the chap stick is recommended.
Other tips and notes for skincare in the PM :
If you find a night in which you are tired before bed just cleanse and moisturize. This is the only mandatory step of your nighttime routine as the skin regenerates and “builds” itself during sleep and simply needs to be kept clean and protected. Just as failure to not address adequate sun protection in the morning with lead to premature aging and other potential complications- so will not sleeping with a clean face at night; so both steps need to be done committedly. Even if you chose not to wear sunscreen in the daytime (though I doubt someone taking that option is reading this page) washing your face at night is a basic hygiene practice if anything just as taking a shower is. So don’t be disgusting. 😂
In essence, products that will makeup your routine include :
* Moisturizer
* Cleanser that can remove makeup & be gentle on your skin
* Eye makeup remover (if you need it)
* “Hydrator” (essence/ampule/serum etc.)
* Night Active for FACE (Retinol/Retinoid/Tretinoin/Vitamin A derivative of choice etc.)
* Night Active for EYES (Retinol/Retinoid/Tretinoin/Vitamin A derivative of choice etc.)
* Lip Balm
* Lip SPF (non drying)

Honey is a fantastic natural ingredient that can effectively hydrate the skin and fade acne scars. Its humectant properties enable it to attract and retain moisture, keeping the skin hydrated and supple. Additionally, honey contains antioxidants and antibacterial properties that help fight acne-causing bacteria and reduce inflammation. When applied topically, honey promotes the healing process of acne scars by stimulating collagen production and improving skin elasticity. So, incorporating honey into your skincare routine can be a beneficial and natural way to achieve hydrated and scar-free skin.

nurturing my natural self (part 3)
Disclaimer: I made this, like all my other posts, for myself, but if you are reading this, I'm not a doctor, and this is basic researched knowledge. If you realize that you need help, please seek a doctor!
A Clean Slate
Everyone's skin is different, reflecting my unique experiences and heritage. It possesses its own characteristics, needs, and inherent beauty. By recognizing and celebrating these differences, I can tailor my skincare routine to enhance my natural beauty and promote healthy skin. "My Skin is Different: A Canvas for Personal Expression." Just as artists employ various techniques to showcase their unique styles, I can use skincare to express my identity. Caring for my skin is not solely about aesthetics; it’s about honoring and showcasing my true self. The textures, scents, and ingredients blend together harmoniously, creating a symphony of care that celebrates individuality. By viewing my skincare regimen through this artistic lens, I invite creativity into my self-care practices, fostering a deeper connection with my skin as it flourishes into its most radiant self.
Ingredients: There are plenty of ingredients out there that can boost skin health, both natural and chemical. Natural options like hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, and chamomile are great for hydration and soothing irritation. On the flip side, chemical ingredients like vitamin C, niacinamide, and salicylic acid can brighten the skin and help with acne. Just keep in mind that “natural” doesn’t always mean “better.” It’s all about finding what works best for you and your skin. What helps Kayla might not do the same for Kiara!
- Niacinamide: Reduces redness, brightens skin, minimizes pores, and strengthens the skin barrier.
- Aloe Vera: Soothes sunburn and hydrates the skin.
- Hyaluronic Acid: Hydrates, plumps fine lines, and improves elasticity.
- Glycerin: Attracts moisture and enhances skin texture.
- Lactic Acid: Gently exfoliates and brightens dull skin.
- Ceramides: Restores the skin barrier and retains moisture.
- Panthenol (Vitamin B5): Hydrates and promotes skin healing.
- Chamomile Extract: Calms inflammation and soothes sensitive skin.
- Green Tea Extract: Contains antioxidants and reduces inflammation.
- Squalane: Provides lightweight hydration and balances oil (the hydrogenated version of squalene, which is found naturally in our bodies and unfortunately oxides quickly, which makes it more stable and gives it a longer shelf life).
- Zinc Oxide: Offers sun protection and soothes irritation, treat itching, skin infections, chapped skin, and skin conditions.
- Retinol: Stimulates collagen, reduces wrinkles, and treats acne.
- Adapalene: Prevents clogged pores and reduces acne lesions.
- Tretinoin (Retin-A): Targets anti-aging, acne, and improves skin tone.
- Vitamin C: Brightens the skin, antioxidant protection, stimulates collagen synthesis, improves skin firmness and reduces wrinkles, reduces inflammation.
- Glycolic Acid: Gently exfoliates the skin, removing dead skin cells and promoting cell turnover, improves texture, brightens dull skin, unclogs pores and can help reduce acne breakouts.
- Benzoyl Peroxide: helps clear acne by killing acne-causing bacteria, reducing inflammation, and gently exfoliating the skin to prevent clogged pores, making it a highly effective treatment for mild to moderate breakouts. Please note: there's been some concern over trace amounts of benzene (a carcinogen) in some over-the-counter products. However, benzoyl peroxide itself is not inherently linked to benzene contamination. It’s a good idea to choose reputable products to minimize risk. for that reason, i wasn't going to include this in the list but i do feel it necessary to inform anyone who uses these products that may be reading this.
BUTTTT you don't need a ten-step routine to achieve great skin. these are just product ideas for specific targets & remember to always patch test and find what works for you.
Lifestyle Changes: Adjustments in diet, hydration, and stress management that can positively impact skin health.
Professional Treatments: Procedures performed by dermatologists or estheticians, such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or laser treatments.
Over-the-Counter Solutions: Products available without a prescription that target specific skin concerns (e.g., anti-acne creams, moisturizers for dryness).
Holistic Approaches: Methods that focus on the whole body and mind, such as yoga, meditation, and herbal supplements.
Nail care
all about keeping things simple and healthy. Regularly trimming your nails, filing them, and moisturizing them with natural oils like jojoba or almond helps prevent breakage and keeps them looking neat. Keeping them trimmed also prevents snagging, while moisturizing makes them stronger and less prone to splitting. It's an easy way to have strong, healthy nails without relying on harsh products.
Body care
Your body needs just as much love as your face when it comes to skincare. Exfoliating, moisturizing, and protecting it from the sun is key. Like your face, the rest of your skin needs regular cleansing to get rid of dirt and oil, exfoliation to smooth things out, and hydration to stay soft. Don’t forget the SPF on areas like your arms and legs to keep them safe from sun damage, which can lead to premature aging and uneven skin tone. I usually follow up with some perfume/body spray/scented body oil.
During hot days
Apply antiperspirant in the morning, and wipe off existing deodorant before reapplying throughout the day to prevent buildup and ensure better adherence. Carry travel-size wipes or body sprays to freshen up, especially if you can’t shower. Additionally, choose lightweight, loose-fitting, and breathable fabrics like cotton to help wick away sweat and allow for better air circulation.
Feminine Care
Many feminine washes and vaginal deodorants are advertised as must-haves, but most gynecologists say they're not necessary and can actually do more harm than good. These products can throw off your vagina's natural pH balance, leading to issues like irritation, dryness, and even infections. Instead of those products, just stick to a good, sensitive skin, unscented antibacterial soap for cleaning the vulva. That’s all you really need to keep things fresh without messing with your body's natural balance. Additionally, opt for breathable cotton underwear, steer clear of douching, and consult with your gynecologist if you have specific concerns or experience unusual symptoms.
Oral Care
For mouth care, in addition to regular brushing and flossing, there are a few other practices that can help maintain oral hygiene.
- Oil pulling: swishing oil (typically coconut oil) around your mouth for 10-20 minutes. Benefits: Thought to help remove toxins, reduce harmful bacteria in the mouth, and freshen breath. It may also support gum health and reduce plaque buildup. it contains the bacteria pulled from your mouth so rinse mouth and brush teeth after after. Do not swallow.
- Tongue Scraping: a tool used to scrape your tongue to remove bacteria, food particles, and dead cells. helps prevent bad breath and supports overall oral hygiene. It can also enhance your sense of taste. use a tongue scraper (or the edge of a spoon) to gently scrape from the back to the front of your tongue.
- Hydration: Drinking plenty of water throughout the day bc water helps wash away food particles and bacteria in your mouth, and it keeps your mouth hydrated, which prevents dry mouth, a condition that can lead to bad breath and an increased risk of cavities.
- Fluoride Mouthwash: mouth rinse that contains fluoride, which strengthens enamel, helps prevent cavities, and freshens breath. using it after brushing and flossing adds an extra layer of protection against decay.
- Baking Soda: natural mild abrasive that helps whiten teeth, neutralizes acids in the mouth, and removes surface stains. Some people use it as a toothpaste substitute or mix it with their regular toothpaste. mix a small amount of baking soda with water to form a paste and brush with it, or add it to your regular toothpaste.
- Whitening Strips: thin, flexible strips coated with a whitening gel containing peroxide that helps lighten the color of teeth by breaking down stains. to us it, follow the instructions on the package for use. overuse can lead to sensitivity, so use sparingly.
- Dietary Choices: eating a diet low in sugar and acidic foods reduces the risk of cavities and enamel erosion. foods like crunchy vegetables (carrots, celery) help clean your teeth as you chew.
- Regular Dental Visits: see your dentist for cleanings and check-ups at least twice a year. professional cleanings remove tartar and plaque buildup that regular brushing and flossing might miss. dentists can also spot and treat potential issues early, such as cavities or gum disease.
- Probiotics: beneficial bacteria that can support your overall and oral health that may help balance the bacteria in your mouth, supporting gum health and reducing bad breath. consider taking oral probiotics or including fermented foods like yogurt, kefir, or sauerkraut in your diet.
Other Essential Tools for a Complete Oral Care Routine:
Soft-Bristled Toothbrush: Gentle on gums while still effective at cleaning.
Electric Toothbrush: More efficient at removing plaque than manual brushing.
Floss: Helps remove plaque and food particles from between teeth.
Water Flosser: Uses a stream of water to clean between teeth and under the gumline—especially great for people with braces or tight spaces.
Ear Care
To care for your ears, gently clean the outer ear with a soft cloth or cotton swab, but avoid inserting anything into the ear canal. Your ears usually self-clean, so routine cleaning isn't necessary unless you notice blockage or discomfort, in which case consult a professional. Protect your hearing by limiting exposure to loud sounds and using ear protection in noisy environments. After swimming or showering, dry your ears thoroughly to prevent infections like swimmer's ear. Avoid invasive practices like ear candling, and if using over-the-counter ear drops, follow instructions carefully. Lastly, go to the doctor if you experience pain, hearing loss, or dizziness, seek medical advice and consider regular hearing assessments to detect any changes early.
Routines
Face : A basic routine includes: cleansing + toning (optional) + moisture + SPF. i do skin masks at night of the beginning and end of every week, not forgetting to give my skin a break at least one day a week. I have oily skin so I start with cleansing to remove dirt and impurities. I follow up with exfoliation to slough off dead skin cells and reveal a brighter complexion if exfoliating is needed. After that, I apply a good moisturizer to hydrate and keep your skin supple. Finally, don't forget sunscreen to protect your skin from UV damage. At night, i cleanse my skin with the same cleanser (La Roche Posay Toleriane foaming face wash), I use The Ordinary's salicylic acid/The Ordinary glycolic acid (each at least once a week), then I moisturize with La Roche Posay Toleriane matte facial moisturizer, and finally my La Roche Posay Anthelios melt in milk SPF 60. I plan to add niacinamide and hyaluronic acid to my routine, buy one of those vibrating exfoliators, buy more sheet masks, try more diy masks & find a vitamin c that won't oxidize as quickly as others. These steps work together to keep my skin healthy and radiant.
- Body : I have dry skin. shower with sensitive skin, antibacterial soap, Dove or Simple. Then if i exfoliate that day (exfoliate 2-3 times a week), I use either dry brush before my bath or i use exfoliating gloves with my body wash, which is usually either Dove or Olay. I heard good things about african net cloths so i definitely plan to buy a few of those. Then I rinse and use Palmer's cocoa butter +vitamin e butter, then their vitamin e oil on top. and then my sunscreen. I also wanna try glycerin.
- Feminine : Use a gentle, unscented antibacterial soap to clean the external area (vulva). Avoid harsh soaps and douching. Exfoliation can help remove dead skin cells and prevent bumps. Use a gentle scrub once a week, being careful to avoid the opening and any sensitive areas. After cleansing and exfoliating, apply a gentle moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated. Look for products that are fragrance-free and suitable for sensitive skin. Avoid irritable ingredients and ALWAYS PATCH TEST.
- Oral : Start your morning routine by flossing to remove debris and plaque from between your teeth, followed by brushing with fluoride toothpaste for two minutes using a soft-bristled or electric toothbrush. Rinse with fluoride mouthwash to protect your enamel and keep your breath fresh. After meals, rinse your mouth with water to clear any leftover food particles. In the evening, consider oil pulling with coconut oil for 10-20 minutes before brushing again with fluoride toothpaste. Use a tongue scraper to reduce bacteria on your tongue, and finish with a fluoride mouthwash to protect your teeth overnight. Weekly, you can use baking soda or whitening strips sparingly to brighten your smile. Stay hydrated and maintain a balanced diet, while regular dental check-ups are essential to keep your teeth in top shape.
