Steve had never given sexuality much thought until he met Robin.
He didn't have many crushes growing up, in fact he could count the on one hand.
First there was Sara Flint, Steve was twelve and they were lab partners all year, three times a week he and Sara would joke around in class. On the last day he realised this was those butterflies his friends always talked about, but by then it was too late, all he got was a kiss on the cheek and that summer the Flints left town.
It was another four years before his next one, Nancy Wheeler. Four years never finding those butterflies again, Tommy cycled through girlfriends like a rolodex until he finally landed on Carol. Sure they had been girls who kissed him at parties but they felt hollow and boring. There was even that kiss he and Tommy shared last year to "check if they were gay just in case" but he felt nothing there either.
But Nancy, Nancy turned caterpillars into butterflies inside him. She was smart and beautiful and kind. They had met when he'd been told he was going to fail chemistry if he didn't pick up his grade. He'd gotten Nancy's number as a possible tutor for extra credit. Two weekdays and every weekend they'd either be at Steve's dining table or down at the library studying. Steve passed his test and butterflies grew inside him when Nancy hugged him in congratulations. This time Steve wasn't too late, but that Halloween made him wish he was.
Steve hoped it would be another four years before the butterflies returned but the following summer brought, Robin Buckley. Robin had been different, they hadn't gotten on at first, but after Steve told off a jock for touching her she allowed him to be closer. They weren't friends but they had jokes and banter. Then the Russians pulled Robin into Steve's orbit in a place he never wanted her to be, the butterflies grew but he would've taken the blows despite them. Sitting in that bathroom with Robin he allowed the butterflies to stay but recognised them more as moths drawn to the light that was a best friend.
Steve had never given sexuality much thought until he met Robin. He assumed he was straight, I mean he had to be right? Sure he didn't feel the same way about everything his old friends talked about but he had liked girls before and he'd never liked boys.
Robin taught him a lot of her limited knowledge of the subject, they were still small town teens after all. So yeah, of course he was straight.
Steve was straight until he wasn't, until he met Eddie. Eddie who pulled the attention of his kids and brought smiles to their faces. Eddie who was loud and bright even when faced with the horrors of another world. Eddie who kept smiling through pain and smiled at Steve in the hospital room. Eddie who took him on drives when nightmares couldn't be chased away. Eddie who remembered things about Steve and asked him questions about his day. Eddie who hugged Robin in understanding bring Steve's best friend an ally in a world he couldn't get. Eddie who would do anything for the ones he loved.
Steve who was straight and didn't understand why people seemed to go on dates with people they just met. Steve who was straight and had only ever liked girls. Steve who was straight and loved Robin more than anything.
Steve who was straight until he felt butterflies grow inside him for a fourth time.
Steve who was straight until he met Eddie.
Steve who was straight until he realised he would've loved Eddie whether he was a guy or not.
Steve who wasn't really straight and loved Eddie because he was Eddie, who knew that loving Eddie was as simple as breathing.
Steve who wasn't really straight because loving Eddie was inevitable, written in the stars, a love that had been waiting all along.
Steve who wasn't really straight but didn't need a label to know that he loved Eddie, and for him that was enough.

Just appreciating the fact that the women in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are written by women to be women and not some sexualized skintight super agent there only for eye candy

honestly at this point i think we need to start calling out people who claim nonsexual kink doesn't exist or deride the idea of it for being acephobic because.......that's literally what they are lol. it's not hard to grasp the concept that people might enjoy the power dynamics or physical sensations associated with certain kinks without ever wanting the sexual component, and just because they don't want the sexual component doesn't mean that they believe their kinks are "sfw" or that they should think minors should be interacting with them in a kinky manner (in fact a lot of people who post nonsexual kink still have 18+ in their bio cuz they do in fact understand that nonsexual does not inherently mean safe for minors. crazy, i know).

So I l’ve been getting into your ko crisis story lately (it all sounds rlly awesome btw) and i was curious - you’ve said in the tags in a previous ask that ash is comphet, so is that gonna play a major role in her character arc/journey in any way?
Yeah, the story basically covers her journey of redefining her identity as a queer Asian-American disabled woman in a sports-entertainment industry, which is a media landscape that specifically targets, exploits, and fetishizes people like her.
#ask me#itsthequeercryptid#i don't have much more to say on this cuz as of right now it's in like. early early development process and i'm not a queer woman so#i don't have much authority to say how i want this part of the story to go. even if it's my story i don't wanna set anything in stone yknow#but like. ashley's arc is realizing that she's been performing to appease people both in and out of her life. as both a daughter and a#pro boxer. and that she shouldn't have to force herself to be someone she's not. which in the story continuously hurts her#she doesn't need to validate her existence and find worthiness as a disabled and queer woman#especially to other people#one story beat i drafted is that ashley nearly gets s/a'd by a potential agent (keep in mind the project's inspired by psychological dramas#thrillers like utena and perfect blue) and it's one of the first big moments that causes her to have a crisis of identity#growing less and less comfortable in her skin - both organic and nonorganic - as she realizes how her body is perceived/ exploited/#/objectified as a vehicle for inflicting and absorbing violence. both physical and sexual. especially by men#and near the end of the story the beat is reflected/flipped when she comes together with noora and it's gentle and intimate#but again this is all very iffy. i'm not sure how appropriate this would be as a male writer.#i'm waiting to work with other writers who are more knowledgable on this before moving forward with anything

I do think being forced to be cognizant of & in many cases personally witness the constant humiliation of other women while growing up a girl permanently fucks up a lot of us in so many different ways . I don't think I'll ever not associate sex with degradation and humiliation which is why I will remain a volcel. I think there's a universe where things are different for me but I'm not living in it

the absolutely horrible thing about lestat asking marius this question is that everything he’s done and everything he’s going to do is always going to be dictated by marius’s lived experiences. the gothic doubling got him. fuck!

Hey love
What things I need to do to radiate sexual energy ?
Hi love! I would say the following attributes:
CONFIDENCE (comfortable in your own skin/body, how you hold yourself, interact with others)
Own your right to having sexual desires and feeling sexy (wearing lingerie and a sensual fragrance you love are helpful for this)
Maintain an air of mystery (listening more than you speak, avoiding oversharing, having a sense of restrained curiosity in your eyes)
Have a playful and witty conversational style/way of interacting with others
Display intelligence, an ability to laugh at yourself at times and with others, self-awareness, and a curiosity about others/to learn more about the world
Wear outfits that flatter your figure and allow your body to show off the clothes (not the other way around where there's little thought to the outfit aside from putting your body on display; Think a form-fitting square neck mini dress or a well-fitting pair of jeans and an undone silk blouse tucked in vs. a bralette and daisy dukes)
Embrace comfortability discussing sex, pleasure, & sexual preferences (this one is contextual, of course, but not shying away from having desires/accepting them as pleasurable and natural vs. shameful is key)
Relish in life's pleasures generally (great food, drinks, sunshine, beautiful art/music/literature/scenery)
Display healthy skin, hair, and generally top-tier hygiene
Smell good/wearing sensual perfumes (I love Tom Ford's Velvet Orchid for this)
Have the ability to let loose and have fun outside of professional/serious settings (dance, sing, laugh with others)
Enjoy flirting just for the fun of it as a way of interacting and getting to know others – whether it's a means to sexual gratification or just a friendly gesture (of course, be honest with the person, though, before your motive gets questionable)
Show genuine interest in others and the world. Displaying a balanced desire for savoir-faire and joie de vivre is incredibly sexy
Hope this helps xx

As an aroace I regularly question whether I'm truly romance/sex repulsed or if I'm just bitter and trying to distance myself from those things because society has taught us they're the only way someone could ever be happy and since I am incapable of feeling them it automatically means I will remain miserable forever and that truth is so much easier to battle if I pretend romance and sex disgust me on a visceral, uncontrolable level. And it's a constant struggle.

Hot take but Teen Titans vol 3 era Cassie wasn’t that bad. Her designs were kinda terrible yes, BUT. It did have some interesting characterization and I feel like people wanna ignore that completely because they gave her lipstick?? Like how can you ignore her arc around the grief of losing her basically sister just cuz she kissed some boys or whatever. Ttvol3 Cassie definitely could’ve been better, like, leagues better, but still. It’s important to her story and it’s weird when people try to ignore it entirely
ALSO without ttvol3 we wouldn’t have had the mess that is Rose and Cassie. This is the price we have to pay for toxic yuri

seashells

Summary:
He could see George's teeth – his perfect front teeth, like little iridescent seashells pressed to his gums – working at his lip. Not biting it, not the harsh mean pressure Dream had put on himself a million times, just rubbing against it. It felt the same way that it did when George clutched his hands together. A safety thing. And Dream thought back to scraggly hoodie strings lit by New Years fireworks. Dream had never been good at moving from place A to place B. It always felt awkward and stilted and like he was two seconds from tripping over his own feet. Maybe that’s why he and George had been stumbling over what their relationship was becoming for months now. But asking George if he wanted Dream to put his fingers in his mouth only felt like the next natural step, he supposed. - George likes having something in his mouth. Dream likes George.

You know one of the weirdest things about the Toxic side of fandoms I've seen? It's the way they try to treat all shows like they're supposed to be setting examples for the audience.
Take Hazbin Hotel for example. I have seen so many people pulling up a single bad trait that Chaggie or Huskerdust may or may not have and use that as the sole reason why they shouldn't be together at all. Which is so dumb but also bizarre because real life couples have their own good and bad qualities and having one possibly negative aspect about your relationship is more often not a reason you should immediately break up.
But sometimes fans and trolls act like these characters need to be in Disney-style-picture-perfect romance otherwise they're unhealthy and shouldn't be together. Like they seem to be under this really strange idea that all entertainment should be educational for the audience and if they're not setting a good example then it's bad TV.
It's so weird.

Last ask before Barbra makes me count sheep- actually, two in one:
First: Who gets pregnant between Matilda, Kanjira, and Mercuria? (Can add Anjo Nala in on that for fun if you wish)
Second: Who would you ship Barbra with?
*sits down, pulls out a soda* Mmm...
For me, Anjo is most likely their unwillingly adopted murderous woman. As in, she adopted herself and interrupts their daily life.
Not to make things weird or anything, I feel like exploring a little into the future of a character's relationship in a more mature light can make you understand a couple things about the characters.
Though this might be an uncomfortable topic for some? I'm not entirely sure, the age and all...
So... Err, I think it would be Mercuria.
I took a moment to think, and I feel like Mercuria would be the one to take upon herself that responsibility.
Matilda is a foundation worker, so far, I don't think the foundation would allow anyone to engage in such conditions, especially someone so important as Matilda. In the future, if things continue the way they are, Matilda would be a very important asset to the foundation due to her loyalty, independence and goals.
She's very unique and a person that can rule and be able to come up with solutions with things given to her. If she's so smart this young, the foundation would absolutely require her once she's older. So, if she still works there, they would not allow her to get into any sort of thing that would have her temporality stop doing field missions.
Hell, they'd barely leave time for her personal life! Like Madam Z but instead of being an assistant, she's a field investigator equally as overworked if not more!
Kanjira, on the other hand, is a loose string. I don't think she'd be able to take upon herself the responsibility that it means carrying a child, as mentioned before.
It's more so the way she was raised, Sherja (?) didn't have any children yet she still had to take care of her and others, her parents were not present in her life and she had a bad experience with the adults back in her hometown. If that's how things are, could she really bear the thought?
Mercuria is the most mature and responsible one when it comes to life decisions. She's not a Matilda that barely has time to breathe, nor a Kanjira that doesn't want to carry with the responsibility.
She loves her mother despite what happened, she knows her mother loves her too but wasn't mentally prepared for the task. So, she had to really consider the idea.
She has that instinct, and I'm pretty sure it's her who suggested the idea to the others, because she's in a good place mentally, emotionally and spiritually, and she can do what her mother couldn't do for her.
I remember her tenderness when talking about her mother back in the event, though I didn't play her side story so I could be mischaracterizing, but I believe she has that instinct within herself that she can take care of her own child.
So, yes. I believe it's Mercuria, and Matilda is no absent mother, she would ask for a leave from the foundation to be there!
And I ship Barbara with Nick Bottom, though you'll probably see that in the other ask. Good night comrade, please sleep, I feel your tiredness.

like, i think what's happening is that plenty of people do find something approaching egalitarianism to be plenty erotic enough, but not everyone, because well a lot of us have very big gendered power dynamic baggage (among other fun insecurities that we also eroticize! cool!) but natalie experiences love as this engulfing, life ruining forbidden thing for UM A LOT OF REASONS THAT WE AS HER VIEWERS ALREADY KINDA KNOW hii, and so in making sense of other people's sexualities and romantic lives she mistakenly assumes that everybody goes that lana del rey for people but it turns out only some of us crazy bitches seem to

It's interesting to me that when people are feeling particularly vicious and biting, they always go after Beej. Like, the venom I will see spat at him specifically is just remarkable.
