Maybe I'm not introverted, maybe I want community, gossiping over a glass of wine, coffee shop dates, dying in some club's dirty bathroom, knowing half a city and saying hello to my favourite restaurant waiter; maybe I got too badly burned too young, just got too scared, settled for living in numbing comfort

as a society can we stop making mental illness/neurodivergency trendy and romanticized. i know more mf who faked claim than ppl who actually had the condition. at the end it just makes the people who are diagnosed with the condition the butt of the joke or look disingenuous.
ALSO IF I MAY be real for a sec!!! it’s because of the “destigmatizing XYZ 🥺” tiktoks and self diagnosing that make this happen, i know they are good intent and not all people have resources but its one thing to be concerned about your mental health and another to claim to have a disorder that you haven’t been diagnosed with!
autism, ADHD, schizophrenia, BPD, bipolar disorder, psychosis, OCD have all became quirks than serious debilitating condition and as someone with ADHD and psychotic depression IM SICK OF ITTTT, it’s different with things like depression and anxiety bc you experience that at least once in your life but it’s getting out of hand

Anyone else ever feel so invalid in their mental illness because it simply cannot be romanticised? There's no community for it and nobody will even acknowledge it because they can't twist it into something desirable and pretty.
I don't leave the house. I struggle to get dressed every day. I haven't brushed my teeth in two days. I binge eat. I don't exercise. I'm not a people pleaser. I talk to people when I need the stimulation then cut them off when I get bored. It's literally just eat sleep repeat.

no one:

It is very inch resting being an English Writing student with 3 different disorders that all have obsession/compulsion/impulsivity as symptoms because do I ~like~ Hawthorne or Emerson? No. Am I, perhaps, wasting my time in a library that closes too damn early researching transcendentalism and romanticism and how they lead to a whirlpool that contains gothic literature, surrealism, and sentimentalism because these crotchety old men were out of their gourds but sometimes right? Yes. Yes I am.

hey fellow adhd’ers and depressed people (and anyone else this applies to), do you struggle with getting ready in the morning? me too! my brain is pure, unmotivated mush and I Hate It So Much.
here are some tips and tricks that work for me!
to get yourself moving, pretend you’re playing dress up with a video game avatar! prioritize comfort, especially if you’re struggling with negative emotions! most days, my sensory issues or depression are too much to let me wear the clothes i want to, and that’s okay!
if you need to brush your teeth or clean your face, make it into a game. how quickly can you shower (without slipping!! please please please be careful!)?? how many minutes does it take to brush your hair? set a timer and try to beat your high score! alternatively, turn on a song and try to accomplish a task before the song ends! while this doesn’t work for me every time, it’s been a major help on those days when i feel completely unmotivated.
body doubling is also fantastic! try facetiming a friend and do your morning routine together! before i was assessed for adhd, my best friend and i (also undiagnosed adhd at the time) would video call one another for hours at a time (for more than a year straight) so we could get our tasks done via body doubling.
above all else, remember that it’s okay to not be able to do some or all of these. there is no shame in “unproductivity”. just do what you are capable of, and remember to take breaks and ask for help when you need it! you are so important, and I’m glad you’re here. now go drink some water! <33

I really don't see a big difference between friendship/platonic feelings and romantic feelings. Maybe that's just because I have no real friends in real life besides my dad (plus i've never really felt romance irl either), but i still think it's worth arguing my case for them being almost identical. So here's my case, as presented in the paragraphs below:
The same qualities you'd want in a friend are the qualities you'd want in a love interest, i think. Kind, tolerant of your flaws, able to make you feel better, cares about you, helps you when you're stressed, etc. These are the exact same attributes, so friendship and romance clearly have a lot in common. Their differences are downright miniscule when compared to their similarities. I honestly think one is just an evolution of the other. To have a good romance or whatever, you need a base of pure friendship first. This means that they're pretty much the same thing. It's not like sexual attraction, which is clearly different. No, romantic and platonic are two sides of the same coin, and they're more similar than everyone seems to think.

I have fetishes you see.
Gentle, calm men with extremely vibrant imaginations who like me, keep them up at night.
Ones who wear black. Ones who have a look, a style, or simply a brand.
Ones who wear boots of any kind. But boots of leather. Shoes of leather.
Who is not afraid of eyeliner to go with his pirate costume. He can manifest a character. He can become a performer.
He is deeply in love with the romantic idea of humans. He sees himself as the lover and recipient of love. He projects himself around a scene and he makes it last beautifully. A memory. A piece of art.
His porn is tasteful and informative, not an obsession. And it means so little because he knows what it is really like because he has been brave enough to step into the club.
But now he retreated. He's diminished. He's raising 1/2 time kids and a very nice dog or cats. He's making his own beer or learning to work iron.
He writes erotica based on his real life and the idea of ending again keeps him from starting again with a real lover. He wants a companion, not to make his cock hard, but to stimulate his MIND and warm his bed.
He wants her freshly made pasta and to watch her forage mushrooms. He wants the sweet tea. He wants his kids to be warmed by her.
But finding a faded rose, a diamond tossed aise, or a dormant wood nymph is utterly exhausting and hard. But eventually he might.
But this time he'll take it slow.

yall can romanticize and tiktok-ify Autism and ADHD and whatever else u want, but nobody seems to be romanticizing OCD. thats because the media cant work with that. The other disorders that they've hot girl-ified are made up of a lot of different symptoms, but OCD isnt "pretty" or "quirky" like that. Yes ppl treat OCD like its a personality trait of being tidy or obsessive over small details or clean, but they dont talk about anything past the OCD stereotypes.
ppl arent out there making "how to act like u got OCD" like theyre making "how to act autistic" videos. Bc who is gonna glorify and romanticize the intrusive thoughts that make up so much of OCD? Instrusive thoughts about violence bigotry fucked up shit like that is never gonna be tiktok pretty.
I think its just funny. ppl think its ok to downplay and romanticize disorders but only the ones that arent too ugly or too unpleasant. They draw the line at intrusive thoughts? really? for a subject like mental disorders, thats pretty mild.
but uhhh
STOP ROMANTICIZING/TIKTOKIFYING MENTAL DISORDERS, YOURE NOT QUIRKY, YOURE NOT CUTE, YOURE NOT FUNNY
disorders arent personality traits, they arent optional, they arent quirks. also this post is mostly on OCD but I think that any and all disorders are the same in the fact that they shouldnt be played like this

Last night I looked at the sky, filled with so many beautiful stars that glanced upon me. The night was clear and unusally dark, giving it a mystical but melancholic energy. You always used to tell me which nights were perfect for catching shooting stars. When I saw one gliding from the top of my head straight to the horizon, joy rushed through my body and I asked myself if you also just saw that magical light. We spend so much time apart now, but we walk on the same ground, we breath the same air, the sky you see between the trees is the exact same one I gaze on from the balcony. Maybe this one shooting star reunited us again. I closed my glassy eyes, filled with sparkles from the reflection of the night sky. In that moment, my only wish was for you to be right next to me.
