Reminder that caregivers of children are, by definition, supposed to provide shelter, food, and clothing. They did not do you a huge favor by providing this. It was the bare minimum of the job description that they voluntarily signed up for. You are not indebted to your caregivers for giving you the very basics.

when a living weapon whumpee only takes orders from ONE person. They’ve been conditioned to ignore everyone else’s orders. This means that after rescue, the team can barely get whumpee to drink or allow them bandage their injuries. One of the teammates manages to imitate whumpee’s handler by deepening their voice.
They stay out of whumpee’s line of sight, standing behind their hospital bed. “Drink this,” they snap, hating how they have to command this broad-shouldered ghost of a person. Without their armor, without their mask, whumpee looks like a wraith. There’s nothing behind their eyes. They play with the hospital blanket with twitching hands that have strangled and maimed.
When whumpee hears the order they stiffen to attention and take the cup offered with those still-shaking hands. But the cup slips through their fingers and lands in a puddle on the tiles.
They immediately tense up, shoulder blades flung so far back they touch. Their breathing quickens, waiting.
But nothing happens.
They give whumpee a new glass of cold water. This time, they lift the cup to whumpee’s lips and hold it steady, with one hand behind their head for support.
#i love when living weapon whumpees look like they’re capable of mass destruction#like they have the build of someone who can lift up a tree and throw it over their head#i think i saw a new term for it. like brawny whumpee#that is beautiful whoever came up with it you scratched a very specific itch in my mind#cw death mention#cw living weaponwhumpee#recovery#team whump#living weapon whumpee#living weapon whump#whump#whump writing#whumpblr#whump prompt#whump community#whump ideas#whump prompts#whump scenario#brawny whumpee#also something about helping someone drink a glass of water is so. gentle.#and that’s all the comfort anyone is getting here

Ok so what if instead of all this "it's okay if you didn't accomplish anything in 2024" thing, what if we try a "you know what, actually, you should do better in 2025" thing?
Because at a certain point we are gonna have to give up this it's-okay-to-not-be-okay mentality and actually be okay and actually do things with ourselves and actually get out of our comfort zone (that is anything but comfortable).
You can't stay in survivor mode forever, you can't heal your inner child forever; at a certain point you're gonna have to move on to the grown up world and start living. Why not now?
Social media does a lot of babysitting of emotions and around this time of the year you'll see an awful lot of people claiming that the people who are celebrating their accomplishments are "curating" their lives or even that they're faking it. And, I mean, of course most people prefer to present their highest points instead of their lowest, but let me tell you something little star: if you need to convince yourself that anybody who seems happy and proud of themselves online is faking it or exaggerating it, you have a problem.
Because actually, actually, it's not a sign of a healthy mind to feel bad that others are doing something good with their lives. If you have to turn away when you see people doing their "2024 wrapped" posts and whatnot, you're not actually a person who's healing, you're a person who's envious and insecure. And that's not okay to accept without consequence.
If you really feel like you haven't done anything with your 2024, then you're either not giving yourself enough credit (meaning you actually accomplished a lot but don't see these accomplishments as noteworthy), or you actually haven't done anything other than sit around and look at a screen all day deceiving yourself that it's okay to not be okay forever. And none of these options are signs of a healthy mindset.
And when I talk about accomplishments, I don't mean the big things. I don't mean getting a lot of money or promotions, or getting married or getting a baby, or losing a ton of weight and getting a glow up. I'm talking about things like being happy and healthy and learning new skills and going places and having fun. And if you really, really haven't done anything, big or small, in your entire year, then baby, it's actually not okay. A year is a long time to do nothing at all.
So maybe use this time of year to get inspired by people you see who have accomplished a lot or a little, instead of ignoring it all as "fake social media status". Maybe reassess the way you look at your own accomplishments. Maybe reorganize your life so that by December of 2025 you won't be throwing a self-pity party anymore.
Get inspired and get your shit together, little star. 💫

there’s a technique I learnt about a few years ago while doing a therapy course on mindful self compassion. It definitely has a name but I’ve forgotten what it is so it basically amounts to moving how feels right for your body in a given moment.
Not overthinking, just, if you feel the need to lie down, lie down. If you feel you want to massage the soles of your feet, do that. Rock side to side, clap your hands, stretch out your neck. Just try to relax and lean into how you instinctually and impulsively want to move without interrogating it or trying to do things the ‘right’ way. This helped me learn how to stim again after a lifetime of high masking.
But it is also good outside of that. Listening to which muscles are sore or tight. Letting your body know that you trust it and will keep it safe. Having fun. Reconnecting with your body and your self as just a large silly animal.
Happy to talk about it more, it has been very helpful and healing for me. Look after yourselves.

Whumpee & His Collar part 2
Warnings: tight collar around Whumpee's neck, severely restricted breathing, mentions of beating and past torture & conditioning, panic attack and choking
The collar was tight around his neck, digging into his skin with every strained breath he took.
"Oh honey, I promised I wouldn't hurt you here, and I keep my promises," Caretaker tried to soothe. "Why don't you want the collar off?"
"What did I do wrong?" Whumpee choked out.
"What did you... do wrong?" Caretaker echoed, confused. "You did nothing wrong, Whumpee -- what gave you that impression?"
Whumpee pointed with a shaky finger to the collar around his neck. "Y-You were going to take it off, which means I did something horrific and need to be thoroughly punished for it." He couldn't understand why, but he saw Caretaker's eyes fill with sad tears.
"I... think I understand now. But you're not with Whumper anymore," Caretaker spoke softly. "New house, New rules, okay? You will never be hurt here. Not even with your collar off."
Whumpee found it hard to believe her words. His entire life revolved around this collar, it gave him a clear sense of direction and purpose. So that he would always know what to expect at any given time, depending on how tight it was strapped around his throat.
But Caretaker hadn't done anything with it in all the time since his rescue. So... maybe she was telling the truth...
Whumpee's chest was heaving with the effort to keep breathing by now, his mouth gaped open as he gasped and choked on sobs.
"Whumpee, please -- you're going to pass out if you keep it up. Please let me take it off. I promise I won't hurt you, and I will always love and care for you. Do you trust me?" Caretaker reached her hands out toward him, pausing a few inches away as though waiting for permission to make contact. Giving Whumpee a choice, to accept or deny her help.
Whumpee squeezed his eyes shut tight, terrified beyond belief, but forced himself to give a shallow nod. But he still reflexively flinched when he felt Caretaker's warm hands gently cup his face, a soothing and comforting presence.
"You're going to be okay, Whumpee, just breathe..."
Whumpee tried his absolute best to obey, he really did, to be good and perfect for her -- but it was just so difficult with the tight collar in place, his situation worsened by the panicked hyperventilating. He felt Caretaker's hands gently slide down from his jaw to his neck, carefully fiddling with the clasp keeping the collar on him.
The fear washed over him all over again, but he managed to hold still as Caretaker finally unbuckled the collar and took it off completely. Cold air hit the skin where the collar always rested for the first time in weeks, a sensation so unnatural and foreign to him.
Then there were strong arms around him, pulling him away from the wall he was curled up and cowering against and into a fierce hug.
“You're so brave, Whumpee, so so brave” Caretaker praised comfortingly, running a soothing hand through his hair in the way she knew he liked most.
Whumpee trembled like a fragile leaf in her arms with a whine, burying his face into her shoulder, and clinging to her desperately like a lifeline. It felt different to be able to properly breathe again, so strange after he'd gotten used to the calculated, measured breaths he'd take whenever the collar was on.
He gulped it down greedily, sucking in as much fresh air as he could with each deep breath. Caretaker was right, it felt so much better to have the torturous collar off.
“Y-You're not going to abandon me now that's it off, are you?” Whumpee asked quietly, his voice wobbly and uncertain.
“Never, Whumpee, never,” Caretaker answered firmly. There was no hesitation whatsoever in her tone, and Whumpee wanted to cry again – in gratitude this time instead of fear.
“Thank you for taking care of me, Caretaker,” Whumpee mumbled into her shoulder.
“Always,” Caretaker whispered into his ear. An eternal promise, one that she would forever keep.

A warning for trauma survivors looking for online support
You may have come across the acronym "RAMCOA", which stands for "ritual abuse, mind control, and organized abuse."
If you search the Internet for RAMCOA, you might come across a result like this:
If you click the link, you'll be taken to a site that briefly describes what RAMCOA supposedly is, with content like:
MC - Mind Control. A shortened form of TBMC, standing for Torture Based Mind Control. MC is also known as programming, where victims are repeatedly tortured starting at a very young age to intentionally cause a system of dissociated parts that function perfectly to suit the abusers' needs.
alpha : a base program, one of the very first implemented. it trains the victim's mind to accept every order given by handlers willingly. parts with alpha programming will often have no will of their own, and very little personality outside of following orders.
aiw : alice in wonderland. typically split into 3 different sections : black alice, white alice, and crazy alice. ideally, a system scripted with aiw would have all three. white alice makes sure the system forgets the trauma, black alice makes the system feel like theyll be a danger to others if they remember the trauma, and crazy alice makes the system think theyre making it up or going insane if they ever remember it.
Literally all of this comes from a conspiracy theory - specifically, the Project Monarch alter programming conspiracy. It was developed and pushed by far right conspiracy theorists. Most of what people run into specifically traces back to Fritz Springmeier, a man who claimed in the 90's that the fight for gay rights was part of a plot to enthrone the antichrist in the year 2000. The Project Monarch conspiracy theory was always adjacent to the Satanic Panic, if not a somewhat niche part of it. If you start checking citations, you will find many of these people citing Svali, a conspiracy theorist who gets a lot of her material from Springmeier. (Example 1, example 2.)
This is no accident. The term RAMCOA was created by the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD), which was created by and for psychologists who believed in the myths promoted during the Satanic Panic.
The RA part comes from "satanic ritual abuse," which was coined by Dr. Lawrence Pazder of Michelle Remembers (cw for descriptions of horrible abuses) fame. Lawrence Pazder is the man who effectively started the Satanic Panic. It cannot be overstated that Pazder, now a known malpractitioner, was considered the expert on ritual abuse during this time.
The MC part comes from "trauma-based mind control," which was coined to refer to the alleged abuses inflicted in Project Monarch. Parts of this conspiracy theory that can't be traced back to Fritz Springmeier can usually be traced back to Cathy O'Brien and Mark Phillips, two other (really racist) conspiracy theorists.
Ultimately, the entire conspiracy theory is constructed from tropes that go back to The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion (a known antisemitic hoax), blood libel, and early modern witch panic.
Searching the Internet for RAMCOA resources, ritual abuse, or trauma-based mind control will always bring you to conspiracy theorists.
(Also, the term OEA, which stands for "organized extreme abuse," will lead you to conspiracy theorists as well.)
So yeah, if you're looking for support, be very wary of this stuff. It will absolutely not help you heal; just the opposite.

Thinking about a recovering pet whumpee who reacts negatively to being submerged in water, crouched in a tub with caretaker beside them. The water isn’t three inches deep, but Whumpee perches in a way so only their tip toes are submerged, still finding the sensation of lukewarm water on bare skin so painful. Caretaker’s weathered hands dip into the water, cradling a fistful of it, lifting it and letting it carefully drip down Whumpee’s rigid back. Maybe they’re humming a relaxing tune, their other hand holding Whumpee’s. Whumpee’s eyes screw tight and they stifle their gasps of discomfort.
The caretaker runs a sponge over their shoulders, careful not to nick their neck or chin, a sheen of pale bubbles over glassy skin, so carefully, so slowly. The Whumpee still can’t bare to open their eyes, but their jaw unsets, for just a moment, as calloused palms flit over scarred skin.
