one time in college, i wrote a short story that featured two older men who were very close friends. the feedback i got in workshop, from my professor and most of my classmates, was “so they’re gay and in love, right?” and i was like. wow. that hadn’t occurred to me but you are all so right. so in my rewrite i changed it to them being explicitly together.

i don’t mean this about everything, but i feel like some writers out there really don’t understand how the characters and relationships they’re writing are coming across and when fans go “they’re queer, right?” the creators’ reaction is like what the Fuck are you talking about? and i think it’s unfortunate

We've been here before so many times with so many identities (including bi! why are we doing this again!) can we please just stop. Let queer people exist.

Having some mixed feelings on today. On one hand I had many really lovely moments. My boyfriend and I took one of our cats for a fall walk in the cat stroller and ended up at a park with coffee and a waffle. Then I got some alone time to read when my bf saw a friend. And I went on a dinner date with my crush who was so sweet and funny. But the staff at the restaurant we went to were rude to us, trying to rush us out in a way they didn’t do to anyone else. With them rushing us we were at the restaurant for less than 30 min which just feels weird to me. I was the only Black person in the restaurant and we were the only queer couple. I love my life and how I look but often people treat me worse for being visibly trans / queer and Black.
