Oh I am, I was fully going to block ‘em it’s just I find their attempts at trying to shame me for my dreams funny. We only get the one life, what, am I meant to simply work-to-live and work-til-death? How dreadfully late stage capitalism core. Certainly working sensibly and saving is important and I do that, but so is believing in yourself and trying to keep dreams alive. If they come back I’ll block, cause it’s not worth giving more attention.

what? you're planning on getting a career in animation? really? that's your plan? way to waste your mother's hard work. your dad survived cancer, and your big plan after everything is an animation career? be so fucking serious. where do you see this going, lmao. can't imagine how dissapointed in you they are.

Oh yeah my parents are So Disappointed in their straight-A student daughter who got medical/caretaker training to be a suitable caretaker for their benefit, while also working with children in the arts who currently lack arts teachers (the current job I’m training for that I’ll work off school hours/over this summer) who’s marrying a beautiful woman and has a normal Liberal Arts degree, because I’m pursuing my dreams after years of willingly sacrificing for my parents wellbeing.

Also I’m not getting an animation specific degree, I’m getting an MFA in Studio Art/New Media and Media Studies which could allow me to get any job from traditional art to digital art, and I’m also considering getting a proper art teaching degree once I’m in Scotland with my wife, cause I do like the outreach work I do with youths in arts, I just don’t think being a teacher in the US is for me so. Y’know. Things to consider when I immigrate.

Thanks. And he’s stable and as well as one can expect - my big fella really is a strong, jovial sort, he always has a smile on his face I love him just so much - he had a really aggressive cancer, beat said cancer but was left with lifelong complications. We’re trying to make him stronger physically and cognitively so he has the best life possible and our hard work really is working, but it’s a LOT. I have been responsible for round the clock care for the most part for a while now, and we had to hire someone to watch him while I attend part time school. My mom works a full time job to keep a roof over our heads and I do side work in order to pay for the stuff we need to live comfortable under the circumstances.

I earned an initial degree but I’m pursuing a higher one to widen my job prospects in my chosen field and also currently pursuing paid internships to serve the dual purpose of giving me extra credits and earn money for my family/resume experience.

It’s a lot and that means I’m just simply trying my best every day. And sometimes that means I’m late on things, or I can’t be around my spaces and I make sure everyone knows and I can work around it to the best of my ability. But responses that shame me for my lack of presence are really hurtful.

Just be compassionate to your fellow humans. ESPECIALLY if you want something from them.

Thanks, most of y’all are so lovely and kind - a few people have reached out privately and had explanations given and have been nothing but kind. This is but a bad apple in the bunch, not indicative of most people who talked to me.

This just pissed me off cause like, I’m not a machine. Did that anon SEE my last two project posts? And I had to make those animations on a laptop while being my dad’s primary caretaker. I want to make fanart I just legitimately don’t have time.

Sorry my father is ill with serious conditions I have to take care of him while my mom works and do that while finishing my advanced degree, working jobs to earn money we need in addition to my mom’s job and trying to maintain some form of mental health. I’ll make sure to keep you all informed of every single personal detail of my life so you can know why I’m not drawing colorful horses all the damn time.

Also I do write for these things on my downtime but it’s either quality art that I make when I have time again, or less quality art done during my very rare current free time. Feel free to tell me which you want, I’ll adjust accordingly.

Redraw of an older Rarity art of mine that I have always been particularly fond of, yet thought needed a refresh! Rarity version of the Breakfast at Tiffany’s poster! I wanted to make it a bit more polished with the lineart in my preferred pencil, refined their faces (Rarity has much thicker, more sweeping eyelashes, more shimmery eyeshadow, and a more smirking smile and Opal has more defined eyes, and a bit more of a persian cat face) and made the colors a bit more vibrant!
