Maybe it’s my brain still stuck on TLOK because of the rewatch, but hearing talk of Zuko not forgiving Azula reminds of a character that very much held onto past resentments for a long time: Lin.

I know a lot of people don’t like Suyin and how that story was handled, but the thing is Lin didn’t come off great either. Because she’s a woman in her 50s who held onto all of her resentment and bitterness over her sister and childhood/early adulthood trying to keep her out of trouble for three decades.

And it’s not that Lin was required to forgive Suyin and let her back into her life without so much as an apology (and indeed it only happens once Suyin finally does apologize). But, she didn’t even have to forgive her to at least have processed it, worked through it, and not held onto everything for that long.

Anyway, back to Zuko and Azula, is that what people want? Zuko holding onto to every ill feeling he has towards Azula for decades? To keep blaming her for everything awful about his childhood when there’s Ozai, Azulon and the Fire Nation’s fucked up culture right there?

That’s just sad.

Moving on and no longer blaming her for everything is the bare minimum he should do.

I will never understand the (unfortunately) popular fandom opinion that Zuko should never forgive Azula and show her no mercy. That he should just keep the resentment and jealousy that he has towards her. Like. Do y'all just hate character development? This kid needs to learn at some point that Azula wasn't the one who ruined his life. He needs to learn how to move on and let go. He needs to learn to forgive her and realize that unlike him, she didn't have anyone in her corner. Keeping all of the negative feelings that he has for her isn't healthy at all, and it won't help him grow. It'll just stunt his growth and keep him forever stuck in that one time of his life that he just can't seem to let go of. And that's depressing.

The poses. Obv grain is looking at the camera (and has eyes) cuz he's a watcher but also scott and martyn are looking to one side cuz they were happy about their win and pear and scar are looking to the other cuz they were sad/confused

None of them really have facial features cuz like they're players in a game come on why would they ever have an actual identity other than 'player'

Also look at scotts bow and scars cane please i put way too much detail into them

Jason hadn’t seen Nico all day. He’d been busy for most of it, but it was still a little weird to not run into him—not when he knew for a fact that both of them were at camp. Usually, he found a little pocket of time to go see Nico, or Nico would find him while he was doing Important Pontifex Business, and they would be able to at least see each other.

Not today, though. He didn’t like it.

The Hades cabin was quiet, but that didn’t necessarily mean much. Nico could be sitting at his desk and drawing, or laying on the floor looking over his old Mythomagic cards, or using his fancy noise-canceling headphones listen to whatever super underground trust-me-Jason-they’re-really-good band he had found this week. He knocked at the door, half expecting not to get an answer.

“Jason?” The voice was clearly Nico’s, but it was soft and a little wobbly. “You can come in.”

Heart in his throat, Jason eased the door open. Nico was sitting on the bed by the window, arms crossed on the sill. Jason shut the door behind him and walked as gently as he could.

“Hey,” he called out once he got there. He rested a hand around the nape of Nico’s neck, half for his own comfort and half for his boyfriend’s.

“Hey yourself,” Nico mumbled. There again—his voice was wobbly. If that wasn’t enough, he sniffled and brought a hand up to wipe at his face.

Jason sat down next to him, hand sliding from the back of Nico’s neck around his shoulder. He shifted closer, and Nico leaned into him.

“Sweetheart, what’s wrong? Are you crying?”

Nico huffed and turned to hide his face into Jason’s shoulder. “No, I’m not. Shut up. It’s super dumb.”

Jason rubbed Nico’s back, bewildered. Nico didn’t sound upset, other than the fact that he had very clearly just been crying. He cast around for something that might have set this off. It wasn’t an anniversary of anything, as far as he was aware. There were no upsetting letters or photographs out. All he could see on the windowsill was the pink plastic glittery skull Piper had gotten Nico for his last birthday, the pile of borrowed hair ties Nico forgot to return, and the potted mint plant Nico had gotten a week and a half ago. Same as always.

Only… Jason squinted at the plant. Something was different. It looked a little taller, maybe. There was a teeny leaf at the top that hadn’t been there last time he looked, he was pretty sure.

“Nico… is this about the mint?”

Nico sniffed again, not bringing his face out of its cozy hiding spot. “It’s just… It’s not dead yet.” He could feel Nico trying to subtly wipe his face on Jason’s t-shirt. “I’ve been looking after it for almost two weeks and it’s still alive.”

The little ball of tension in Jason relaxed and he pulled Nico into a hug, smiling into his hair. “You dork. You absolute goober.”

“Hey,” Nico protested.

“Nope, I’m right. You’re crying because your plant grew a new leaf.” He pressed a kiss to the top of Nico’s head. “That’s goober behavior.”

Nico snorted and finally raised his head from Jason’s shoulder. Sure enough, his eyes were red, but he was smiling. He pushed at Jason’s chest, but there was no force behind it. “This is the longest I’ve been able to keep something alive, cut me some slack.”

Jason leaned forward, getting comfortable in Nico’s space. “I’m happy for you.” He kissed his forehead. “Also, you’re adorable. How do you feel about getting a spider plant?”

yeah today did not end on a good note for me. Found out my best friend won’t be able to go to an important event of mine (which is not their fault but I’m still bummed out). Then I was invited to this social event and guys. I have never felt so excluded in my life. It was so bad

I started a piece of art today which is based on some plant species* that I think would be good to colonize Tim in @gunpowder-tim’s headcanon of the Persephone Tim headcanon; so it’s art based on a headcanon of a headcanon of a headcanon 😅 [sweat simle emoji].

It’s gonna take a long time I think, but I am planning on posting it here even though it’s just gonna be plants and no Tim (because I am much better at drawing these little doodle plants than drawing people).

*so the art is basically of real species we have on Earth, but I maintain that they wouldn’t have the same plants on the City, so in my brain his plants are just similar to these ones.
